Started just not on the East Coast (it's about 1:30 am). The clouds have been kind enough to get in my way. Here's hoping they move themselves by 3 when it's supposed to really get good! It's supposed to be a major "Once ever few hundred years" event.
Anyone else taking a gander at the moon tonight?

Actually, it happens every few years. The last one happened in 2007. I think the next one is 2014? 2016? Something like that. I watched it from my house in florida. It was pretty cool.

Actually, it happens every few years. The last one happened in 2007. I think the next one is 2014? 2016? Something like that. I watched it from my house in florida. It was pretty cool.

It's actually this particular even that only happens every few hundred years. This was a full lunar eclipse on the Winter Solstice. The last time that happened was over 300 years ago.

Unfortunately we had heavy cloud cover all night and I couldn't see a thing.

I actually heard about it at the last minute... I stayed up to watch it, but unfortunately the storm that was happening didn't clear up in time. However, my friend was nice enough to post this link so I could take a look see:
