Shopping tended to stump Gently. Not because she didn't like it, or that she didn't know what she thought, at least, was cute. No, she liked clothes. She liked putting them on and wearing them and looking nice when she was at work, or out for the day. It just seemed that what she thought looked cute might not be in 'fashion'.
She often got told that her clothes were boring or out of date. She didn't really understand that, as some of the trendy things looked like they were from the 50's, but whenever she seemed to buy them the trend ended.
Maybe she was just bad a shopping, and not clothing on their own.
Peering into a shop window, she tilted her head at the display. She loved the peacoats and scarves the store had to offer, though she wondered if her paycheck as a reporter would allow for such fancy things.
She was stuck window shopping, fighting a war within herself, unsure if she could justify going into the store, as she knew once she was in there would be no coming out without something.

It's going to be a long day, the store was awfully quiet and it irked Florica to her very core. She needed sound of some kind, anything really! Turning to the scarf on her desk she sighed dramatically while pushing the button on her tiny radio. Swinging past the sleeveless tee-shirt rack with the music, She looped said bight blue scarf over a display mannequin. Flo hummed a happy little tune while fixing the scarf 'properly' over the displays shoulders.
Now to put the whole outfit together, maybe a silver shirt! Oh but she needed to put out more Christmas outfits didn't she? It was that time of year, leaning on the mannequin she sighed dreamily. Vintage, or what the kid's today called vintage was coming back, maybe she would do a vintage Christmas display! Idly her nimble fingers rubbed the scarfs handmade fabric between them. "Oh no!" Quickly bolting out of her dream like state, she rushed towards the counter grabbing a fancy sign from the front desk, one wouldn't believe it to, to be handmade.
As swiftly and gracefully as possible she moved towards the window, sign in hand, her blue orbs smiled in surprise as she pulled back a display mannequin in a rather nice velvet peacoat, revealing what appeared to be another woman standing in front of the shops window. Her thin pink lips tilted up offering a warm smile out to the window woman, said lips turning into a sly smirk as she placed in the sign she was holding.
"ALL INVENTORY 50% off! ! ! "

Gently looked up in surprise when the mannequin moved. They weren't supposed to do that, right? She saw the source of the movement, though, before she leaped to something most cosmic as her own explanation for it.
She smiled brightly, instantly amused now that the surprise wore off.
Glancing down, she saw the sign and wondered if this was some kind of devilish trap set to lure her in with the promise of cheap scarfs and coats. If so, it was working, as she found her feet walking toward the door without her conscious consent. She peeked into the store, moving to the display window.
"How nice of you to put everything on sale, just for me!" She teased, her light English accent coloring her words. She chuckled, shaking her head. "I've nothing to give you, though."

Letting out a soft chuckle at seeing the other woman's surprise, she quickly placed the mannequin back into its proper place, side stepping as the door swung open. Spying the woman as she peeked in and made her way over. "Welcome, ah.." Her smile widened at the woman's words, truth be told she didn't care if the other spent the entire day just browsing. All she wanted right now was some company to end this dreaded silence.
"But of course it tis the season and you just looked so depressed out there." She gently teased back her soft feminine voice almost drowned out by the still playing radio. The others light yet still clearly present, English accent brought a spark of interest to Florica's eyes. "Mm, that's not true, everyone has something to give!" She smiles warmly while gracefully twirling around the other woman plucking up the freshly put out scarf from the mannequin's shoulder and tossing it back towards the other.
"You can give you fashion opinion and company on my displays while browsing?" The offer was out, Florica always like a second opinion on her displays and this woman clearly needed some fashion advice!

Gently grinned, liking this lady immediately. Anyone willing to play along with the silly things she did was okay in her book, after all. And anyway, Gently loved these scarves, and needed to spend more time near them. This was a great excuse, while she batted the idea of buying one back and forth in her head.
It was Christmas! But she shouldn't buy for herself. But they were so cute!
She looked at the scarf she was thrown, smiling dumbly. So pretty. So soft.
"Fashion opinion? I'm not sure I have one of those. Opinions on film or theatre I might be a bit better at. Maybe if these were costumes," she laughed, "so you are just dressing up the mannequins for display? I've never been good at this, even for shows. You essentially have to... make an outfit for each one?"
She shook her head. She could barely dress herself each day.

Florica only chuckled sweetly as she pick up a needle, the thread from it white and dangling down ready to hem or patch up what it needed to. Blue orbs rested quietly on the other woman, her thin pink lips sretching in a smile. She had seen that look the other was giving, she must be trying to talk herself out of buying a scarf for herself, Flo thought. This was fairly amusing to Flo it almost made her giggle to actually keep herself from it she poked the threaded needle into the corner of her mouth much like a piece of buckwheat while eying the mannequin again.
"Mm!" She hummed out a reply around the needle in her mouth though it wasn't much for an answer. Oh so this woman liked theatre and film but she didn't have a fashion opinion, that was...shocking to say the least. Well shocking in her mind that was, Florica slowly removed the needle from her mouth after which pushing it gently into the shoulder while pursing her lips into a sour scrunch. "Hmm costumes?" She asked while thinking about the other womans words, "well I suppose it tis like costume, just everyday ones! "
She chuckled merrily and nodded a yes to the dressing up the mannequins for display, she sighed dreamily draping an arm over the shoulder forgetting she had stuck the needle in it previously and almost position her arm right down on top of it. "Oh my that was lucky.." She whispered out though saying it more to herself than the other before looking up and into said womans face. "But yes essentially I suppose I do.. " While speaking it had hit Florica, she didn't even ask for the womans name if she was to con her into staying longer to keep the silence away she needed to ask more personal questions and what better personal question than a name!
Slivery locks swooped forward as she took a step offering her hand, "I'm so sorry I've been really rude! I'm Florica the store manager and outfit designer! "

"Everyday costumes? Ha, that sounds like a good idea for a play," she chuckled, shaking her head. Maybe a one act, though it could be comedy or dramatic depending on how the writer was feeling. For Gently, she imagined it would be a mix of both.
Her mind was wandering.
She watched as the woman worked, keeping one hand in her pocket while she contemplated the scarf."
"Store manager and outfit designer! That's a long title. They probably just shorten it to Store Manager for the name tag, huh?" She chuckled, taking the offered hand and shaking it vigorously. "My name is Gently! Gently Ponsonby, though I suppose I wouldn't be too upset if you forgot the second part, if you know what I mean." She smiled. It wasn't that she didn't like her name, really... except it was. She hated her last name, and wasn't quite sure why she even offered it.
"So I suppose if I ask you if I should buy one of these lovely scarves, you'd be obligated to say yes, hm?"

Florica smiled warmly at the vigorous handshake and the offering of the others name. She seemed like a nice woman to Florica, though maybe a little odd.. She chuckled herself as the other asked if she would be obligated to persuade her into buy something. It was true it was Florica's job, but she really wasn't the kind to push things on people, being the sweet woman she was.
Truth be told, she was known to actually give scarfs away after telling people about how amazing they were and then paying for them herself with her savings. Her blue eyes washed over the other as she moved back towards the mannequin to continue her work, debating her answer.
"Well.." She began cracking a smile over the mannequins shoulder. "Suppose I wouldn't be much of a manager if I didn't yes?" Chuckling lightly she fluffed out the scarf around the shoulders, pulling and tucking it into the shirt that was now on the mannequin as well. "But, I'm really not one to force, I just simply offer what is in fashion, what would work for the particular person and what is affordable of course!.." She sighed softly puffing out some air, removing a stray hair that had wondered out.
Nodding as the woman chuckled, "You mentioned, a play?" She questioned peering over the mannequins again as she draped some fabric around its head to make a head wrap, pushing and pulling a threaded needle though to seal up a small hole in the fabric, she began to twist and turn it into a lovely head piece. "Also, the one your holding...I don't think its you, though feel free to buy it!" Giggling she as she made a somewhat of a joke, she tilted her head motioned to the corner of the store that held lovely though in style items that almost looked antique, they where beautiful but designed for comfort. Ranging from browns to blacks and soft silver colors they hang around the mannequins, though almost looking as if they would turn into liquid at any moment since the fabrics seemed to be flowing from the shoulders and waist like water.

Gently smiled. It wasn't every day that she found honest people working in stores like this, ones who weren't just making a sale whenever they opened their mouths. Of course, that was their job, each one of them, so she supposed she couldn't blame them.
If she worked in retail, she would be the same way.
"Play! Yes, I was just thinking what you said earlier... well, never mind, that's a bit silly. My brain always functions in play titles and lines, I think. 'Ah, that would make a good title for a play!' and such. I work in the theatre, when they'll have me, and I'm mostly an obsession."
She chuckled, but paused and looked down at the scarf in her hand. She frowned, then put it on a nearby rack and eyed what she was indicating curiously.
"Oh, now this stuff is pretty, don't you think?" she asked, moving toward the mannequins with the older looking clothes on them. She couldn't help but run her fingers over the fabric thoughtfully. "I love this kind of stuff."

She continued to wrap the fabric around, twist this and that way while the other woman browsed, speaking to her from time to time before she glanced back over. Finishing the work on the mannequin for now, she leaned gently on it a hand around its shoulder. Her blue orbs watching with pure delighted fascination as the other woman strode over towards the area she had indicated to. Her lips stretched into a sincere smile as the woman went on about plays and talk of theater.
Florica could tell she really enjoyed her work there, which made her very happy to hear. As a person that generally loved harmony it was good to know that there were people out there that enjoyed their work. "You make me want to see a play.." Admitted the silver haired woman on a dreamy sigh, it had been a long while since she had even went out to enjoy the city much less took in a show. Ocean orbs glittering with amusement at the frown and then drop off of the scarf, but she was right that scarf clashed way to much with the woman's beautiful hair.
"Oh yes, the vintage style has always been one of my most favorites. Plus I have to admit browns, blues and silvers are the most darling of colors and black is always in style.." she agreed on a hum letting some of her own personal opinion free with a chuckle. Florica moved slowly towards her desk as the other woman fingered the clothing, sitting down her needle and thread . Sitting down on her desk she looked over towards her again not wanting to be right on top of the poor woman as she looked since she knew that always bothered her when she browsed. "That fabric is a doll to work with so soft, you know...though I just can't find away to bring any of those pieces together on a mannequin, its such a shame, I was hoping to have one out this year...might even offer a piece up for a prize if I was given a good idea..." She giggles softly, tossing the suggestion out there if she had the free time to play dress up with her, plus Florica couldn't help it, she was this that type of person.

Gently smiled and nodded her head eagerly.
"There are always plays going on! It wouldn't be that hard to find one to drag yourself to. Or I could always drag you to one," not shy, she didn't mind inviting a relative stranger to go to a play with her. Why should she?
She listned to the woman as she spoke about fashion, nodding her head.
At least she knew that black was always in style. Everything else? Not so much. She looked a bit confused, looking at the clothes and pondering if she should get something new and exciting.
"Well, I'm not the best with this kind of stuff, but I'm always up for a challenge," much like Florica, Gently couldn't help herself. Her weakness was not clothes, though, but rather the chance to have some fun. And improvising some kind of a look seemed like a new thing to try, and that was good enough. She grinned.
