Algani was traveling as she usually did, pressed low against the ground with her nose buried underneath a growing tunnel of dirt. She was looking for roots, not just any roots but ones that smelled red. Red roots might produce red flowers, she could pull them out and bring them back to her den and they would grow there. Well, when she decided to stay in a den for more than a week. Up until now it had just been a series of dens with messes of roots and rocks around them. Anyone that stumbled upon one might think it the home of a particularly eccentric bird. She didn't care much for what other people thought, after all none of them were inside her noodle, they didn't know what wonders simple colors could hold. It was shortsighted, she decided, lifting her head to let out a loud echoing sneeze. Definitely not red, brown maybe. Brown always smelled spicy.

Mmamohlake was feeling better today, not a hundred precent, but much better than normal. Her time with the male dog had come to an end and though she found his company much enjoyable, she didn't want to burden him more than she had to. He had helped take care of her for a short time and that short time had meant the world to her. She would never forget him for that.
Limping along as she walked, Mmamohlake heard a rather loud sneeze and following a long the sound came upon a very interesting looking wild dog. A female like herself with a coat of pure white, with cloud like splotches that reminded her of water and grass. She had her head buried underneath the dirt, making a mess of her beautiful looking coat digging for something. Digging wasn't exactly outside a wild dog's nature, but she had never seen one who was digging as intently as her.
"Excuse me?" Mmamohlake said quietly, attempting to get her attention, "What... what are you doing?"

"I'm looking for red, for my home," Algani said rather bluntly, diving her head back into the roots as she started to circle the area, "I know there's some here, I can smell it." She never was sure why but it seemed she had become fixated on the concept since her discussions with the dying lioness. It was a craving that could only be sated by finding, searching and finding. Each red she found was different, just like each green and each purple. It was curious, but there was a pattern beneath she just knew it, and she had her whole life to figure it out. The other dog's presence didn't to sway her mood one way or the other, rather she seemed to regard her as an inanimate figure, there to try and push her off track. She must want the red for herself, her mind told her slyly, well she can't have it I'm the one that tracked it down. "It's my red."

"Red?" Mmamohlake asked her. What exactly did she mean by red? Did she mean like a red bug, or a red flower? Maybe a red rabbit? Rabbits lived underground. She could be looking for a a rabbit to eat and use the pelt to decorate with. Maybe she wanted some help with that?
"I don't want your red..." The brown wild dog said quietly. It wasn't like she could put up much of a fight for it anyway. She was handicapped after all. If she attempted to even take the red away she'd find herself in a world of pain for it. She was sure of that. "But....uhm...What is the red?"
She seemed a little odd to Mmamohlake, but considering that the majority of Mmamohlake's time spent was alone she could very well be the one who was odd. "Uhm.... I am Mmamohlake."

"Algani," the dog replied, seeming to look her up and down and decide that she wasn't a true threat. It was easy enough to who was, they'd call her crazy right off the bat or attack her and not even wait. Some dogs were just mad, cats too. Cats were worse, except that one old one she supposed. "Red is a flower," she explained, "Well, this red is a flower. Others can be other things I guess." She hadn't really thought of how to explain it before, it didn't quite work when it came out of her mouth. She wanted red because she had all but red for this den, it just felt strange without it and flowers smelled nice too so it was all win. "Haven't you seen red before? It smells like morning and sweet?" she asked quizzically as she snuffled about a little more, feeling like she was getting closer.

"No... I don't think I've smelled red before," Mmamohlake answered, quirking her head to the side just as quizzically as the other dog was. Now she knew that whatever was odd about this dog was not on her part. Flowers did not grow underground, they grew on top of the ground like everything else did.
"Maybe if you were to look above ground?" She suggested quietly, "Than when you find the red flower.... you can just dig it up from there."
It didn't sound like an unreasonable suggestion to Mmamohlake. After all, if Algani wanted to find these flowers quicker than some friendly suggestions couldn't harm her progress, could they? It was a little funny how she was so intently attempting to decorate her den with them. Mmamohlake didn't even have a den to decorate. This female lead a much more normal life than her, despite being a little off. She was envious to an extent.

Algani paused, her tail beginning to wag frantically, that was a brilliant idea! That's how she'd found the purple things after all, you just had to get up real high and look down to find them. Well, if you could remember which way they were when you came down, if not you'd just have to look some more. "I can!," she shouted excitedly, bouncing up onto her back paws for a moment before she dropped back down into the dirt, "I always look for the roots because they smell stronger but that doesn't matter if I find one looking at it." Oh she would have such a beautiful den when she found her red. Though, which way was her den from here? Hm, another one lost then. Well, she'd find her red and then find another to start over in, it was a good thing there wasn't anything she really needed there.

"Uh huh," Mmamohlake said, nodding her head along a little lost at what they were talking about anymore.
This female made no sense to her half of the time. Her confusion over what she was referring to as the 'red' had made her completely forget about the pain in her leg and instead a new pain was beginning to arise. One in her head. She had never had head pain before. Did this female break the bones in her head with her odd words?
"How do roots smell stronger than a flower?" Mmamohlake asked, her confusion written all over her face.

"I don't know, they just do," Algani said with a shrug, shaking the dirt off her nose. It was hard to explain any of what she did, she had never found anyone else who it did after all. Well, except for that old lioness, but she didn't seem to be all there. She wasn't sure what else she could say about it except that she knew it when she smelled it, and there were less distractions in the dirt than in the air. "Do you like flowers?" she asked, her whole body beginning to join the wag, "I had some extra yellow ones, I don't know where they are though."

Mmamohlake found the sight of Algani's excitement amusing. The other wild dog was practically wagging her whole body as she asked if Mmamohlake if she liked flowers. Truth be told, she loved flowers, but she never had anywhere to put them. With how she traveled constantly she never stayed in one place for very long. She could never settle down for very long, anyway. She had no ability to defend a den, not in her condition.
"I do like flowers, but I don't think I could find them. I don't have your excellent nose," Mmamohlake said. If Algani was unable to recall where she stashed the yellow flowers, it would be near impossible for her to find them.
