Kimya'Mwimbaji - -_Wish of the Goddess_-
&
Maisha - Das Tor
The little leopardess had grown bold, starting to venture out on her own, and explore the world. She liked looking around the Mwako world, learning what her home was like, where she would be going, and what she'd be doing in the future. Young Kimya'mwimbaji was just humming to herself, dancing along with the intent of doing...absolutely nothing. But seeing people, learning names and faces.
Maisha was flopped underneath one of the trees in the pride, taking solace in the shade for a bit. Set was NOT the most forgiving of teachers, and although Mai admired his uncle and wanted to be an Asikari SO BAD...Well, a body could only take so much before it became exhausted. Which Maisha was at the moment. The leopon yawned, stretching...and the perked his head up. Eh? Hmmm...vaguely familiar scent...young...definitely a leopard...OH! Mai was sitting up rather quickly. One of the cubs Uhuru and Mabaka had adopted! Had to be! "Hello!"
Kimmy's ears perked, and her eyes were wide, and she stared at Maisha with those wide crimson eyes. Tail tip flicking, she sat, canting her head, and smiling brightly at him. Her way of saying Hello til she was comfortable enough around this one to speak to him. They youngling had never met this one before!
Maisha didn't mind the silence, simply keeping smiling. "Hi, I'm Maisha. You're one of Moto Mabaka'damu and Maji Uhuru's cubs, yeah? It's a pleasure to meet you." She was such an adorable little cub!
She nodded, eagerly, purring, and holding up one paw in a greeting gesture. Her ear flicked. Maisha...and he knew her new mother and father. Then again, a lot of people did. Deciding it was okay, she mewled, "Kimya'mwimbaji~" The tiny sing made her better at ease.
Maisha nodded, returning the gesture. "A pleasure to meet you, Kimya'mwimbaji!" He shifted a bit, so he could be closer to her level, instead of being all big. "You've got a good Mom and Dad. They're two of the strongest, kindest members of the pride." Even his mother, grumpy as she could be, acknowledged that.
She smiled brightly, nodding. They really were, and Kimmy couldn't have been prouder of her family, "Nuru too~" The little Purifier to be moved towards him, sniffing curiously. But in a moment, she was distracted by the pretty sight of a bird, her eyes sparkling even brighter. "Bird~!"
Mai grinned. "Well...I haven't met your brother yet, but I bet he's nice like you say." He blinked at the bird passing, then looked to Kimya again. "You like birds? I know where there's a bunch! A few of them decided to nest here, since we pretty much don't eat 'em." It'd be like eating Uncle Enzi's friend, and that Just Was Not Kosher. Just so VERY Not Kosher. Not to mention it would risk the wrath of the aforementioned bird.
She nodded eagerly, her tail flicking back and forth, "Bird~" Kimya really was in love with birds, she had no idea why. Save for the fact that she loved the sound of song. "Singing. Pretty~"
Mai nodded and started towards where he knew the birds nested. "They are very pretty. Especially the ones that sing." He took a deep breath. "I wish I could sing sometimes. But I'm afraid I inherited Mother's voice. Neither of us is very good at singing." He wasn't much for dancing, either. Poor boy just wasn't made for musical endeavors.
She tipped her head, and sung to him again, "Sing is easy." She loved singing, and it was the most natural thing in the world to the young cub, and she wanted people to smile, and be able to sing as well. Moving towards Mai, she tipped her head, watching him. "Sing is good."
Mai smiled sheepishly. "It is good. But...well, I warned you." He tried singing a simple lullaby he remembered Mama Luta singing to him...Sadly, his voice was not suited for singing, and he failed at hitting anything but flat or sharp notes. He'd warned her...
Kimya listened for a moment, curiously, and nodded, smiling, "Is okay. Not bad bad~" She leaned her head forwards and nosed him, "Kimya likes it." Her tail flicked as she moved forwards again, curious to figure out if shecould hear those birds.
Mai blinked, and smiled brightly. She was the first to say that! "Thanks. That's really nice of you." He nosed her back, gently. Then motioned forward with a paw. "We're almost there." He lowered his voice. "We might even get to hear them sing~"
Her eager nod was quick, and she moved for the trees, silent as the grave. She couldn't wait! Birds were so pretty!
Mai led her up to the edge of the area, quiet despite his large size. He'd learned well from his uncle. All around one of the trees, nestled in its branches and on the ground, were birds and their nests. "Ta-da~"
Little Kimya looked at the birds with wide eyes, so happy. Leaning against him, she watched, quietly, so entranced by the birds, "....So many~" She sang, just in rapture over this simple thing. Mai had made a good move, taking the cub here.
Mai smiled. He liked making others happy. Especially girls, no matter their age. They always seemed to be the ones in need of a smile most. "I'm glad you like." Even without the birds, it was a nice spot...calm and pretty, good for getting away and relaxing, right in the heart of the pride.
She nodded, and lay on her stomach, watching the birds so carefully. Kimya had always had this strange fascination with them, since arriving in the Mwako, and though she wondered, she didn't really care why. Her silence was a contented one.
Maisha lay down with her, curling around her a bit protectively and closing his eyes to listen to the birdsongs. It was calm moments like this that were the best in the world, he thought. Maybe...he'd show his mother this place later. She might like it...
