I've notice alot of people at my school don't really acknoledge the band like most kids acknoledge like the football players and stuff. So does anybody think that we're a bit under appriciated?

Yeah we where going to do peep band for the football games and we where talking about it and this kid I hate was there and band gets in for free cause we are working the game just like the team and the cheerleaders and he said "I don't see why band gets in for free how are they important" and I snapped right back "We are working the game just like the football players or cheerleaders you need to watch what you say"

Yeah, it's even worse when my high school football team lost almost every single game while we were competing on a national level.
I was wearing a championship ring once and somebody actually made the comment "You know, if it were football I would understand, but there's no point in wearing that. It's nothing to brag about."
I do not hate football anymore, so don't get that impression, but what he said is dumb.

The only time we were appreciated is when our team was losing (BADLY) to our major rival team, and we went on for halftime. The rival team's students turned around on us when we performed, but our student section gave us a loud cheer.
But besides that...
Me: "The air quality's unhealthy today, yet we've still been rehearsing outside..."
Dude: "Psh, you don't do much exercising in band."

And one day when I was getting interviewed for the news, there were also a cheerleader and a volleyball player. I was saying something about how I really didn't feel like going to a game that week I believe. They asked why, and I was like, "Well, we don't get back until like 11PM, it's midnight by the time we go to sleep (or later), and we have to get up and rehearse at 9AM the next day, then go home for lunch, then come back around 4 to go to our own competition and get back around midnight again."
I don't think they realized how much marching band does.

Band is very under appreciated. At the Musket Bowl (this major football game that everyone in east tennessee watches) my 8th grade band was playing with Crocketts High skool band and a group of people from my CHURCH were there at the game and they said: "Football games would be better if we didn't have to listen to the damn band at half-time." I literally beat them with my flute screaming: "I'll teach you to say s**t about band!" Campus security had to pulled me off them.

 I do believe band is unappreciated because
we always work hard for everything we do and we don't even get recognized
for it as much as the football teams do no matter how badly they suck.
Even Volleyball gets more recognition than we do and they rarely appear in the newspaper.
Band has to put in a 110% effort for EVERYTHING, and if we even get as low as 99.9% the band has a chance of falling apart.
Everything is always dropped on the band, and as hard as we work to get where ever it's just unfair.
Our football team sucks a** and they get recognition for almost everything they do, and it just makes me SO mad just thinking about it. :/

At My school its true were not as famous as football players i mean come on there football players at my school people treat us like another thing like as if it was art or something

its all so true though... you think about it Fine Arts has always been underappreciated. In schools that are struggling because of the economy, the first thing they start to cut out of the budget is Fine Arts. Yet its proven that kids in music get better grades, higher test scores and have a better work ethic than kids who are not in music.

That's just life, though when I attended University of Houston, the band was looked upon very highly. College is a bit different from high school, though. Their band is so hardcore.

Physical Therapy That's just life, though when I attended University of Houston, the band was looked upon very highly. College is a bit different from high school, though. Their band is so hardcore. I know college bands are hardcore because i was able to see Michigan state's drumline one time and they are so good at playing. You can see the discipline that they put into it too.
