Name: R'xen (Formerly Ronnexen)
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Prisoner or Guard or Wingrider? Whitesecond
At what age did they Impress? 29
History: The long-awaited and only child of a pair of guards, Ronnexen was smothered in love, hope, dreams, and possibly rainbows from the moment he was born. His mother suffered from bouts of unexplainable infertility – or at least, that was the public excuse anyways – and when she was finally able to carry a child to term she was positively ecstatic. She rarely let the young "Ronny" (as he was called then) out of her sight, trying to keep the energetic toddler out of trouble. Unfortunately for her, her one and only son was the personification of hyperactivity, and by the age of two he'd already fallen down two flights of stairs and knocked out both his front teeth. It was this fall that some Healers argued was the cause of all his problems, no doubt the boy knocked a few screws loose, but whatever the reason it was the start of a long series of injuries.
All his mother had wanted was a nice boy who went to Harper lessons and who could one day Impress a normal dragon they could take back with them when they returned to Ghenza. What she got was a hell spawn with ADHD. Ronnexen ran before he could walk and would have tried to fly too had he not been banned from high places. (He jumped off a stool with a cape when he was six. That ended his flying career earlier than he'd expected and gave him a sprained ankle). Needless to say, he practically gave his mother a heart attack several times, worrying the poor woman half to death. While she slowly became accustomed to his frequent injuries, she really got the scare of her life when Ronnexen fell off a cliff face at twelve, giving him a temporary concussion and laying him out flat in the infirmary for a week. After that, his mother decided it was time that they found him a nice, sensible boy to be his friend and hopefully steer him away from all these crazy stunts he kept pulling.
The shy and well-behaved J'aro was the perfect boy for the job, and despite being nearly seven years younger than Ronnexen, proved to be a somewhat good influence on the boy. He certainly didn't dive off any cliffs – not the high ones anyways – and tried to improve his studies in private tutoring sessions with J'aro. (Though try and he may, J'aro never did manage to get Ronnexen's reading and writing level to anything above "not quite miserable"). The pair stayed friends even as they grew older, sharing the same admiration of D'far and vowing to be riders like him. Ronnexen was positively thrilled when J'aro Impressed a white in the next clutch, though his friend was not nearly as excited about it. The friendship was strained for a little while, though Ronnexen solved this problem by sleeping with several different women and producing multiple children, but they eventually (kissed) and made up.
At the age of 29, shortly before he was to stand for another dragon clutch, J'aro made Ronnexen promise to avoid the whites at all costs. Though promise as he may, it was hard to avoid force-Impressing a creature when it's eating your face, and thus Ronnexen inadvertently became R'xen, partnered to white Noladenth. Since then, R'xen's opinion of the new colours (and himself) has only sky-rocketed and he has encouraged his only son Roxyn to join the ranks of white candidates and become a rider like his father.
Appearance: The first thing most people say when they look at R'xen is "oh Faranth what happened to your face?!" Unlike J'aro, the Whitesecond was not able to preserve his face from the teeth of his dragon, Noladenth ripping through his eye, cheek, nose, and the left side of his mouth in the process. Though the wounds have long since healed, the attack left deep scars. The skin is ruined from his right brow bone down across where the bridge of his nose used to be. Her teeth took out a sizeable chunk of the left corner of his mouth, giving him a crooked and somewhat morbid grin. Due to the damage done to his right eye, R'xen is forced to wear an eye patch if only to avoid grossing newcomers out when the cloudy eye rolls around uselessly in its socket. Despite the damage done to his face, he seems to have no problems with his appearance, even going so far as to grow a scraggly beard on as much of his remaining chin as possible. None of his other scars are nearly as impressive as this one, though he is missing a few fingers here and there.
Size-wise the man is built like a tree trunk, standing easily at six foot eight and weighing well over the healthy weight. The majority of his bulk comes from sheer muscle, however, R'xen known for spending hours working out in order to keep himself in tip-top shape. (You never know when you'll have to drag a prisoner back by his toes after all). His hair is a kind of dull, dark brown as is his remaining eye, making him the perfect example of a normal Pernese man. His skin is, however, darker than one would expect in the northern continent, a trait he enjoys because "it makes his teeth look whiter."
Personality: R'xen is... well, if he were to be described in five words or less it would be GET OUT OF THAT TREE possibly with the phrase "you sharding idiot, what am I going to tell your mother" tacked on after it just for clarity. The whiterider is one of those people that public opinion varies drastically on; for some he's extremely brave and to others he is extremely stupid. Truth be told, he's probably equal parts of both. Growing up as a boy, R'xen stuck his fingers, nose, head, hands, feet, and sometimes his a** into everything he could find. No cave was too dark, no rock surface too sheer for the boy and his uncontainable sense of adventure. While he may have been blessed with endless energy he was not given any kind of compensating dexterity, and though he may have made up for his lack of skill at anything (and by anything we mean anything; he could hardly get dressed in the morning even when he had all of his fingers) with enthusiasm, it was this same enthusiasm that landed him in the infirmary enough times that he now has a bed there with his name on it. Name any bone in the body and R'xen has probably broken it from any number of the hair brained stunts he pulled as a boy.
If one were to assume that the stunts ended the moment he became a rider, well, sadly you couldn't be further from the truth. The fact that R'xen has managed to not only Impress a white dragon but live past the ripe old age of seventeen has made him believe that he is virtually invincible and thus now he has even more reason to try the things he didn't get around to as a boy. Though in excellent shape for his age, injury and time are beginning to catch up with him (the sharding idiot); despite this, the only thing really stopping him from doing anything too life threatening is J'aro. The Whitemaster – despite being a whole seven turns his junior – acts much like a babysitter to the overenthusiastic R'xen. You need help clearing out the tunnel snake infestation? Well that's just too damn bad, before J'aro needs R'xen to help him do things. Manly things. Things that you can't even comprehend so please go find someone else before he learns what you're doing. This, of course, leads us to the second problem with R'xen: he is extremely over helpful. If you thought it was impossible to be too helpful, then this whiterider may just prove you wrong.
Like we mentioned above, R'xen likes to stick all of his body parts quite frankly where they don't belong. Add onto that problem too much enthusiasm, poor coordination, and a penchant for turning mundane chores into EPIC DRAGON RIDING ADVENTURES (yes that needed to be in all caps) and nobody in their right mind would want R'xen's help with anything. It's unwise to let him near the kitchen – somehow he managed to simultaneously burn everything meant for dinner in the span of fifteen seconds and nobody's sure how – and equally unwise to even think about letting him touch the laundry. And while he means well (in fact, he seems to genuinely want to help people do whatever it is they've set out to do) most people tend to look extremely busy and self-sufficient whenever R'xen walks by. The whiterider is really only good for heavy lifting – the man looks like he could bench-press his dragon after all – and only then if somebody is around to direct his every move. As helpful as he may aspire to be, R'xen turns any five-minute chore into three hours of hard labour, and thus is most often left in J'aro's most capable hands.
As one may have already guessed from reading the above, the whiterider is not well known for being mature. With an invincibility complex a mile wide, R'xen still acts the same way now as he did when he was seventeen. Growing up among guards and other Nowhere Island residents has not exactly improved his manners, and thus his concepts of what is appropriate and inappropriate is more than a little skewed. He's known for boasting about sexual conquests loudly over drinks, grabbing servers who pass too close to his hands, and belching loudly at any given opportunity. While these problems have been addressed more than once and by many different people, R'xen has yet to change his ways. It's doubtful that he takes anything seriously, but especially not complaints about him. Thinking too much and being too serious are all things that caught regret, or so R'xen believes, and he has vowed never to have any regrets in his life.
Where J'aro notices everything, R'xen lives in his own little world and tends to notice very little. He is the type of person who would bring home dinner and then casually brush that pottery project you'd spent a week on off the table with one arm just so he could put the take out down. (And then he'd be all surprised as to why you're angry with him. He brought home dinner so you didn't have to make it, didn't he?) Furthermore, he ignores the few things he does notice and the occasional emotional problems he manages to catch onto, believing that if he pretends they don't exist eventually they'll go away. When forced to face said problems he is equally bad at dealing with them (see above: unserious). He's never been made to sit down and be a "good boy" so to speak – his mother was always too worried he'd be dead – and thus he has no experience in how to fix his problems.
R'xen believes that the fact Nowhere Islands have not only been able to produce but also Impress and control these new colours is a sign of their superiority. White dragons are beasts – his face is proof of this – but they have potential that needs to be exploited to the fullest. He makes no secret of his feelings – he's very poor at keeping secrets – and will tell anyone who asks what he thinks of these new colours. Hell, he'll even invite you to come try your hand against his own white to 'test your mettle.' His own son is a frequent participant in these 'dragon and wherry' games, R'xen extending his own invincibility complex onto the young white candidate. Roxyn is the whiterider's real blind spot, and the man would suffer immensely if he lost the boy.
Dragon Name: Noladenth
Dragon Image: Hurr
Dragon Personality: Noladenth is as dumb as a sack of firestone and R'xen will be the first to admit it. The white dragon has poor vision, poor aim, and even poorer dexterity but once she has her mouth on something it takes a great deal of control to convince her to let go. She clamps her jaws shut and its game over. A dragon that lives almost entirely for her next meal, Noladenth makes up for her abysmal abilities by having an excellent sense of smell – at least, an excellent sense of smell for meat. She's very good at tracking down runaways, if only because she enters "hunter mode" where she can actually work without distraction. Most days, however, she's lazy, unpleasant and generally not a dragon you'd like to spend time with. R'xen, however, treats her like an oversized canine mutt (despite the fact that she bit half his face off) and can frequently be found giving her "affectionate" thumps on the head. She seems to take this abuse without much question, probably confused by the fact that R'xen can use both words and actions at the same time.
Why this rider? Because Noladenth bit off R'xen's nose.
Anything else: Has more than one child, but naturally he only cares about his boy~ (DADDY LOVES YOU ROXYN <3)
