Eytucan wanted to speak to his brother about some upcoming events. The marriage between him and Satomi for one. He had been told of his idea; and had been supportive for the most part. except for the fact that... well... he knew Satomi wouldn't be... well... happy at first. Hopefully, things would change. He had asked a few others where they had seen Kerusey last, and had been told of his whereabouts. So he went to the place.

He sighed, shaking his mane for a moment. He was not wearing his chief headdress. Not for this moment. He didn't want to be king but brother.

Kerusey had left the majority of the pride, finding a smaller pond that was away from most people. He was not an anti-social creature by any phrase of the word, but he was not in the mood to deal with the stupid people who inhabited his brother's pride. His brother let anyone in and let anyone breed, he thought grumpily, his paw trailing in the water of the pond. He had nothing against some of the people in the pride, those of pure blood and pure spirit who knew what was best for the pride, but some of them...he would cast them out if he was in charge.

He scoffed, and jerked his head up, when he heard someone approaching. He smoothed his face from the scowl, hiding his anger easily, so that whoever it was would not see his emotions.

He approached his brother quietly, his eyes half lidded as he approached. He spotted him; and his heart fluttered a bit. He loved his brother; as brothers should. He cared deeply for him and the hatred that his brother felt. Eytucan cherished the moments they had as cubs; the times when things were simple and they were siblings. sadly now, things had changed.

"I see you brother..."

Kerusey scowled inwardly at the sight of his brother. Sometimes, he regretted the hate he felt for the man who had been by his side for years, but it was his own fault. Eyutucan had brought this hatred on himself from the actions and the things he had done to the pride. He bowed his head, but rose to his feet.

“I see you brother,” he returned calmly. “Did you need something from me, Brother?” He asked. Perhaps it was sad, but he did not think his brother would seek him out just to spend time in his company. They simply no longer that that kind of relationship.

Eytucan paused and observed his brother for a moment, his words hurting him a bit. He sighed. "I wanted to congratulate you on Satomi's acceptance of your pairing..." He said softly. "She is a good female. A good priestess. I am just glad that... that you have taken a female finally..."

Kerusey smirked, only slightly, but it was still visible. “Thank you, Brother. It is an honor to have such such a pure pair, yes?” It was a light dig. He was a pureblood and Satomi was a beautiful female, who would provide the pride with wonderful spiritual guidance. “Were you worried, Brother, that I would not take a female?” He asked, somewhat sharply. Of course he would take a female. It would provide him with the opportunity to lull the pride into a false sense of complacency and perhaps provide spawn for the future generation.

Eyutcan caught his brothers words swiftly but said nothing. To him, purity did not mean the same as his brothers views. He nodded. "Well, you hadn't chosen a female to be your mate... since the ceremony.." He meant the ceremony in which he had been chosen as king. "When we became adults..." He paused.

Kerusey shrugged. “I had not found the right female, brother. And wasn't Satomi worth the wait?” He smirked. She was a perfect little pawn for him, and while she was pretty, he didn't care what else she was like. She would be easy for him to mold and use as his own and it was already making people see him differently. Although he doubted many would ever truly trust him and they shouldn't. “Not all of us were gifted to find a mate so quickly.”

The last words the felled Keru's mouth hit Eytucan hard. He winced ever so slightly. "It is different Kerusey... the bonding between Zelt and I. We were destined to be together... we may have had no choice but... we love one another. I would have chosen her in the end... I know that is why we are conflicted because I know you would have chosen her too..."

Kerusey scowled, angered by his brothers words but trying hard not to let his fury show. “You think I would have taken Zelt? I had other candidates in mind, Brother, your choice effected me none.” That was a lie. Of course Kerusey would have chosen Zelt, she was the perfect choice and while Satomi was...adequate, she was not what he would have originally chosen.

The king knew his brother lied. He shook his head simply, chosing not to dwell upon it. "Mother and father would have been proud if they were not with Eywa. To see us now..." He said solumnly, remembering them well. They had passed on their legacy just as their sons turned into adults; thus opening the basis for a new king. "I sense more matings will be happening soon... it will be a fertile time."

Kerusey felt a momentary pang of sadness at the thought of their parents. They had been someone he had looked up to, and had cared for them, but the pride had lost their way after their passing. He inclined his head, for once agreeing to what his brother was saying. Would his parents be proud of him, of what he was trying to do, in undermining his brother? Of course they would. They would understand his reasoning and why he was doing this.

At the comment of mating, Kerusey tensed. “Are you intending to add to this fertile time, brother?” Spawn of his brother, just imagine! If his brother reproduced, he would need to get rid of them as well, if Kerusey hoped for any claim to the throne.

He paused for a moment and then slowly nodded. "Zelt and i have discussed it.. and the time has come for an heir to be born into the pride. Eywa has returned. The consort has been found. Things will be right once again. Zelt has consulted it with Eywa and it is a good outlook..." He had never really thought about having cubs. "I think young Juubeleih has made a friend out of our Toruk Macto..." He said with a smile.

Kerusey smoothed his face into a careful mask, inside furious. Future spawn of his brother. Most would be pleased to be an uncle but Kerusey had no desire for cubs to come his brother's way, and to have Eywa bless their union? It added yet another insult against him. “Eywa approves? A blessing indeed,” he said tensely, his tone tight trying to not give away his anger.

“Has she?” He had not thought to look into such things concerning the youth of the pride, but if his brother was raising the comment of Juubeleih, perhaps it was important.

He nodded. "She has felt a bit... outcast from the others because of her home pride and of her father being; well... like Eywa. She also has visions... which sometimes cause her some distress but... otherwise she gets along with the other cublings very well.. but she has taken to talking to Taruk..." He smiled. "she told me he reminds her of her father..." He was glad his brother seemed interested.

Kerusey remembered her now, and felt his interest waining, until his brother mentioned the visions. That perked his interest. “Ah yes, the one with the visions.” She might come in handy, he realised, even if she was not the most...suitable for the pride, she could at least be used for some good. “Has she had any concerning the pride or anything of interest?” He was unconcerned with her feelings really, or how she might be fitting in, but her visions were interesting if nothing else.

Eytucan shook his head. "No... she just has some small flashes of things that have happened in the past so far... nothing big... her power will grow over time though-Zelt suspects." He said nodding. "She will be a good priestess... she has already been asked to do some chores for Zelt and Eywa herself... she will be going to visit her mother and father within the next couple of weeks. Eywa will be escorting her there..." He said thoughtfully.

Kerusey nodded, growing disintered in the youth. She saw only the past? That was a useless gift to have, why would anyone wish to see the past. The future was what was important, at least to Kerusey. “You are allowing Eywa to escort merely a youth out of the pride? What if they are injured?” He asked, affronted, merely for the goddess not the youth. He knew Eywa was strong, but the rogue lands were not exactly the safest place around.

Eytucan frowned at his brothers lack of faith for their deity. He looked to his dark sibling, his eyes half lidded. "Does one not have faith in our Mother Eywa to escort a child to and from her home?" He asked, cocking his eyebrow. He was curious to hear what his brother would say about their goddess. Would he openly doubt her in front of the king? Or would be openly doubt her in front of a brother. He shifted. "Either way, I have no say in what the goddess and her priestesses say or do.
He reached up and scratched his face. "Zelt has given her consent for the young one to go... We should not deny her the right to see her parents, and I certainly won't. " He added.

Kerusey scowled inwardly, and kept his face blank. "No faith in our Deity, Brother? Never. I have great faith in our Mother Eywa. What I do not trust is those thieves and disgusting creatures out in the rogue lands." He narrowed his gaze and cast it from his brother, so as to hide his anger from him. "We are safe here, brother, without their influences but out in the rogue lands, we loose the safety in our numbers and our wits. That is what I fear, not a lack of faith in our Mother Eywa." He wanted to snort as his brother mentione dhaving no say. If he were king...there would not be anything out of his control. The pride would work perfectly and in unison with each other, and no one would be allowed to leave for the rogue lands, youth or not. "And that is why rogue born lions in the pride cause problems," he murmured, voice calm. "Pride born lions would have no need to travel out."

Eytucan sighed. "Jubes left her home with no knowing of our pride... only under the honor of serving Eywa. She is a brave girl with great potential. Any child in our pride with the potential to do great things is given the opportunity... " He said with a proud smile. "Eywa cannot always be among us in vision. She entrusts her priests and priestesses with the duty of knowing where she is..." He also added. "And this trip will likely be Jube's last... she knows she will soon be entitled as a priestess for real-and her duties will be to great. It is her... final time to say goodbye. And everyone deserves that..."

He paused, remembering the death of those long past. He sighed, gazing in the direction of the burial place, deep inside hometree; where the deads souls could still be among the people.

Kerusey followed his brother's gaze towards the burial place, his own mind drifting back to their family years ago, when he and Eytucan had been young and...he shook his head, refocusing his gaze on his brother. He didn't care of Jubes' problems, nor that this was her final goodbye to home. Any true rogue who was worthy of the pride should have thought of the pride as their home, without needing to 'farewell' their former place of inhabitance. "Be careful who you trust from the rogues, brother," He said stiffly. "Not all rogues will be...sweet and so ready to give up rogue ways." He didn't doubt that Jubes was a good choice, since Eywa herself was so close to the youth and that she would be a priestess. Priestess, like Satomi, were useful things, so devoted to the pride. Perhaps he could sway the youth to his point of view. His brother was too weak when it came to rogues to see people's true potential.

"Jubes came from a pride... A pride her mother and father are members of." He said simply. "I do not judge on the wisdom of them being rouges and once belonging to another home... I judge only those deemed judge-worthy brother..." He stood. "At one time one of our ancestors had to have been a rouge... at least a few of them. We cannot have good bloodlines without strange blood mixing." He added. "I suspect that soon our pride will flourish again..."

Kerusey knew the importance of blood. He knew they would need to branch out evnetually, but he did not trust his brother's point of view on what equated as good blood and what was impure and shouldn't be mixed with their blood. Things were different in the pride, and should be kept...clean. He fixed his gaze to his brother. "A pride can only flourish as much as it's rulers," he said, sounding somewhat stiff. It could be taken as an encouragement for Eytucan to 'flourish' with his mate, or a slight against his brother's reign, that he was holding back the pride. He stood, offering his brother a slightly smirk disguised as a smile. "Our pride and blood is in your paws, brother. I hope you are aware of what you're doing."

Eytucan looked at his brother thoughtfully... as his words were of encouragement. Words of encouragment about breeding wtih Zelt... were unheard of coming from his brothers mouth. He nodded. "Eih..." He nodded again. "I know this..." He seemed a bit nervous for a moment. He was just... never had cubs before and a slight fear of Zelt's ability to give birth... if he lost her... He didn't know what he'd do.

Kerusey quirked a look at his brother, amused at the show of nervousness that his brother momentarily displayed. "Have my words disturbed you, brother?" He asked, worry in his voice for his brother. "I had not intended for them to do so." Lies. Of course he had intended such, but nervousness was not the expression he had expected of Eytucan. He had hoped for fear, or, if pushed, anger. Not nerves. How odd.

Eytucan saw through his brothers guise. "I am just... nervous for Zelt... Never being a mother before... I am always nervous of losing her... and if she were to die giving birth to our children. It has been a fear of mine... For a long time.." He said softly. He had always been open with his brother, despite their differences. To Eytucan, they were siblings and though they had their sister- it was not the same to talk to her... Eytucan and Kerusey shared the womb with her but... they shared more in his eyes. "Perhaps around the time of their birth... they will have cousins to play with. " he said with a smile.

"If she dies, then perhaps it is the Gods way," he murmured, wondering why he would fear such a silly thing, but not saying it outright. "If she is meant to live and have cubs, then she will live and have cubs. Else, there is little we could do about it." It was half optimistic and half pessimistic, but that was Kerusey.

Kerusey, had he been less adept at hiding his facial expressions, would have had a rather horrified expression on his face at teh thought of 'cousins' for his brother's cubs. Perhaps he was speaking of their sister, that she might birth cubs, but he had a feeling it was in reference to him. He hid a shudder. Cubs. He was not a cub-person, but...perhaps cubs would not be such a silly idea. Satomi would be a good mother, and he would have more members of the pride to teach his ways to. "Perhaps," he said, offering his brother a half smile.

Eytucan could not think of anything else to say in pertaining to his brothers or his own future cubs. He shook himself off, his mane fluffing around his face. "I should return to my hammock before Zelt suspects I am in trouble." He looked to his brother. "I wouldn't want to keep her waiting..." He said simply, giving him a nod. "It was good to see you brother... may Eywa guide your steps." He then turned on his heels and began to pad back.

Kerusey murmured, "and May Eywa guide yours." He stayed where he was, the pleasant look on his face falling away as his brother turned away and began to leave. He shook his head and returned his gaze to the pond nearby. He did not dislike his brother, he simply did not approve of his way of leading the pride, nor did he intend for the male to ruin their pride. He had plans, and he would follow through with them, even if it meant alienating himself from his caring brother.
