The youthful adolescent scrambled over the dirt towards her favourite spot. It wasn't a particularly beautiful spot, nor did she find many bone stones there, or even get to play in the dirt that much, but it was the spot where she got to meet Quetza and spend time with the boy. She really enjoyed his company and they had so much in common that they rarely ran out of things to talk about or do. She had been going to the spot so often recently, that her mother now expected her to run off and meet up with the boy. Not that her mother knew that her daughter was meeting a boy, but she knew she was meeting a friend.
Dunia, now older than when she had first met the boy, stumbled slightly over her gangly limbs. She was still growing into her longer legs and sometimes they tripped her up. She was covered in dust from earlier that morning, when she and her mother had been digging for bone stones and hadn't thought to dust herself off, since, she was only going to see Quetza and she didn't really need to fancy herself up for him. Reaching the spot, she looked around quickly, trying to spot the other youth.

Quetza had been pretty confused for a good amount of time now. He wasn't that sure what to think some of the time and at the moment he was growing and his growing wasn't helping anything. It made him trip, and it made his voice crack occasionally, he looked kind of funny some times and girls looked different to him. And that was that part that confused him. His friend, his best friend Dunia. He had been looking at her differently and well... it kind of scared him. He didn't get much guidance, he had his mother and that was really it, it made it hard to get advice at times and well he didn't really know what to do. He had his brothers but they were going through the same things.
The best thing that he could think of doing was get a girlfriend. He liked the girl, she was really sweet and it made him feel pretty sure that Dunia was just his best friend, he was pretty sure thats what she was, thats how she acted anyway. But as his best friend he wanted to know what she thought about this, he didn't want to be dating a girl that his friend didn't like Then again he was still pretty confused. He looked back at Kirja with a goofy grin on his face, he was excited to have these two girls meet up. He hoped that the two got along and approved, otherwise he wasn't sure what he was going to do, he really had no clue in the world. He took a moment and grinned at the lioness and nodded to her as he walked over a hill heading toward Dunia. The grin still on his face.
Kirja wasn't exactly -too- sure what to think about this. This other girl was some one that Quetza talked about all of the time. He was a sweet lioness but at the same he was a little strange at times. He was kind of annoyed that he was taking her to do this. Why would she want to meet this girl, she really didn't get along with many girls then again neither did her mother. She left her drum at home, not wanting to get it messed up while she was out here. she could spend some time with the male that was good and she was glad that her mother let her out of the den and out of the pride so he could spend time with him. To a point at the same time she really didn't want to spend it with this male at the same time.
She paused before going over the hill with the male, pausing and taking a moment before huffing then following behind him quietly with a small smile on her face, trying her hardest to look happy for him. She trotted a little closer to him at his side looking at the lioness. She was a nice color... she was really dusty though, but then again she knew that she got dusty a lot. She was trying to make herself feel better but at the same time she wasn't that happy.
"Dunia!" He called out with a large grin, excited for all of this.

Dunia perked up abruptly when she heard Quetza's voice, a beaming smile on her face appearing, but it slipped when she spotted another figure approaching who clearly wasn't Quetza, but was instead walking beside her best friend. Now, Dunia was a little too focused on her rocks and dirt and things like that to really have been paying attention to boys yet, but she knew that she didn't like this. At all. Why was there another girl with Quetza? Was he...replacing her? The thought made her chest ache, but she tried to ignore the thought. Maybe she was just stalking him! Yeah, that was obviously what was going on.
"Quetza," she called back, her voice not quite as happy then she usually was, but she was still excited to see him. She bounced towards him, her usual exuberance still in place. She dropped her voice to a whisper, trying to make it that only he could hear, "are you aware someone's following you?" She asked quietly. The other girl was pretty, Dunia said, jealous of the redness of her coat. It was like Jasper, she thought, thinking of the pretty rocks she had found a few times. They always glistened really nicely.

Quetza looked at the female as he walked over to her, as he was looking at the female he was approaching he was pretty happy, she seemed really happy to see him and he enjoyed that. However the only thing is that he had no idea what she was really thinking. He paused for a moment looking back and Kirja and smiling then back at Dunia, he was more then sure everything was going to go okay. He trotted up to Dunia a little faster before leaning forward and nuzzling her in a friendly way.
He paused for a moment as he stood next to her, taking in what she was saying completely. He didn't want to miss what ever she was whispering. He paused for a moment once again before looking over at Kirja then at Dunia again. "Of courssse sssilly!" He chirped before backing up some and grinning at the two lionesses. Backing up some so he could look at both of them before laughing mostly at himself. "Dunia, this is Kirja my girlfriend." He smiled before flopping down on his haunches and flicking his tail behind him. "I wanted you two to meet." He turned to Kirja for a moment before speaking once again. "Dunia issss my besssst friend and I want to make ssssure you're okay with eachother because well..." His voice trailed before he looked at Dunia with a smile then at Kirja with the same. "You're both really important to me!" He nodded happily at the idea.
Kirja looked over the lioness. She had a beautiful coat, Kirja was a little jealous. She had a pretty unatural coat which made others with natural coats prettier because the rest of her family, or at least most of it, had natural coats.Sure there was her paw and the two spots on her that were natural but they didn't cut it. She looked at the lioness and grinned shyly at her before speaking. "Hello." She said quietly not sure what to think of all of this.
This other lioness was very important to Kirja? That made her kind of upset! What about her? She was more important wasn't she? She was Quetza's girlfriend didn't that make him more important, but at the same time she knew that best friends could be just as important. She had a best friend too, but it was a lot different, her best friend was her neice and well that was family, he wasn't going to hook up with family, that wasn't even close to an option, so to a point she really didn't understand this best friend thing. She didn't want to seem rude so she decided being quiet wasn't the best idea. She put on the cheeriest smile she could before speaking. "It's nice to meet you." Her mother always told her that being polite was the best thing to do always.

Dunia let out a short purr at the friendly nuzzle that Quetza gave, pleased at his affectionate gesture even if she wasn't exactly sure why she liked that he'd done it, especially that he'd done it in front of that new girl. The stalker girl. She looked rather stunned at her friend's declaration, and felt a pang of hurt. He...had a girlfriend? Why hadn't he told her sooner? Had he been seeing her for long and just..not bothered to tell her? How could he?! She turned her gaze towards this new girl. Kirja. She was so caught up in examining this new girl, that she almost missed Quetza's comments. She perked up a bit of his comment of 'being important to him' and 'his best friend'. She liked being important to him.
"Oh," she said quietly, not quite as cheerfully as her earlier greeting to Quetza. "Well, uh, Hi...Kirja," she said, trying hard to sound friendly but feeling she may have fallen short a little. She had hoped it would be just her and Quetza, not this...interloper. Not that this female looked mean or anything, just...Dunia really didn't want her hear. "Nice to meet you too," she added in response to Kirja's friendly comment, momentarily confused by the bright smile. "So, uh," she looked away. "How did you and Quetza meet?"
She didn't really feel like talking, she thought, glancing at Quetza. That weird pain in her chest was still there, making her want to dig a hole and hide in it until they left, but she couldn't. Maybe she could make some excuse to leave earlier than normal, like her mother needing her help or something. She was already planning an elaborate excuse to get out of there quick.

Quetza looked at the two females looking at them smiling at them as he did. He really, really hoped they became friends, he would give anything for them to get along, he had to admit if Dunia didn't like her, he wouldn't stay with her, then again at the same time if Kirja didn't like Dunia he had to admit that he didn't think that he could stay with with her then either. He knew for a fact that Dunia was too much for him to give up, it was his best friend! He was sure she was his best friend, as of why she couldn't give him up she wasn't even that sure.... His thoughts trailed for a moment as he watched them as they talked.
Kirja looked at her then thought carefully, he wasn't sure exactly why they were with eachother with this female right now, he didn't know what to think at all. She just wanted to spend time with Quetza not be with this other female. She paused as she stood with the lioness awkwardly before speaking again. She thought for a moment still being as upbeat as she possibly could. She then smiled as brightly as she could. "It, really, really is nice to meet you. Quetza talks about you often." That was true, when she thought about it he had talked about her a few times before she knew it for sure. She really didn't mind hearing it but at the moment she wasn't exactly too sure what to think.

Dunia shifted awkwardly, feeling a frown shift across her face. The female seemed...nice. She wasn't really sure why that fact seemed to annoy her, rather then make her feel happy for Quetza. This female was taking Quetza's time away from her, she realised, since she was here when it really should be just Quetza and Dunia, not with Kirja. She felt guilty for thinking such things, but it was true. This was her and Quetza's time! She shouldn't be here.
She shook her head, before forcing a smile. It was less convincing then Kirja's. “Quetza hasn't mentioned you before,” she responded to her saying Quetza spoke of her often. Take that! She thought. Quetza spoke of Dunia often, but Kirja hadn't been mentioned once. Or, not that Dunia remembered. She didn't really focus that well when she was busy, so he may have mentioned her before but Dunia simply forgot. “But we don't usually talk that much about that kind of stuff,” she said as an afterthought, shifting. Gah. Maybe she could pretend her mother needed her help with the digs? That would get her out of there quick. She snuck a look at Quetza, who seemed so happy, and wondered if she could really lie and then leave.

Quezta laughed quietly and nodded he could feel the air around was kind of awkward but he didn't exactly understand the idea. Why did it seem awkward? Did he smell bad? He blinked and while the females talked he quickly twisted himself back and made it seem like he was chewing on his back to get rid of a itch while he actually smelt himself. He made a face and shook his head. He smelt fine, kind of guyish but nothing out of the normal. He made a small face before putting the smile back on and looking forward at the females again. He was probably just crazy, they looked perfectly happy! He was probably just imagining things were creepy. Yeah that was all.
He chuckled quietly before grinning at Dunia. "Well silly," he started off with the grin wide on his face, "I wanted to surprise you with out new friend." He looked between the two lionesses with a bright look in his eyes. "I was really really hoping that you two could become friends," he explained looking between them then nodded again. "I really, really hope so anyway."
Kirja looked at the lioness and then flopped back on her haunches. She was really hoping that the lioness wasn't hating her. At this point she was really hoping that the lioness wasn't hating her. She hated being hated. This lioness didn't make her angry but it made her confused for sure. Se didn't know what to think about it at all. She was confused and part of her just wanted to head back to the pride.
She turned around and looked behind her. she was thinking the same thing as the other lioness was. She was really wnating to head back to the pride to do that she was thinking she should maybe say that she had to be home now to pratice music. Maybe for now she could just distract herself. She flicked her ears listening around her trying to pick up the littlest sound, she was trying to pick up something around her focus on her and pick up the rythem but all of this was so upsetting that she couldn't just pick up and pin-point it.

Surprise her? Well, he'd certainly succeeded there! Was that why her chest felt tight and aching? Because he had kept this from her and surprised her so suddenly? No. She didn't think that was true. Surprise didn't hurt this much, she frowned at her own paws, before looking back up at the couple. Couple. She couldn't imagine Quetza with anyone! She just kept remembering him as the boy who didn't laugh at her when she was so dirty and dusty that her markings disappeared. The boy who hissed sometimes and got embarrassed. But he wasn't that boy anymore. They were older now, and he had...well...he'd replaced her. With his girlfriend.
He wanted them to be friends? She glanced at Kirja and knew she was probably a wonderful girl, very sweet and exactly the type for Quetza but she dind't want to be friends with her.
"Yeah," she forced out, her smile weak, "I'd like that...but...uh...I can't stay," she excused, her lie coming out in a rush. "Mum wants my help with hunting and I...was...just coming to tell you that, Quetza!" She glanced away, staring back down at her paws. "Another time, yeah? I just...got to go." She started to back away, looking apologetically - and actually meaning it - at Kirja. This wasn't her fault. It was Quetza's. How could he do this to Dunia? Surprise her so much her chest her?
She needed to get away from them, she decided, and the surprise would fade. It had to fade.

Kirja was feeling a little better at the idea that the lioness was going to part ways from them. She was glad that she got to meet the lioness, she knew it was his best friend but still at the same time he as a little uncomfortable at the idea. She really just wanted to head home for a little while and relax some, maybe she could bring Quetza with her that would be nice. But either way she was excited for this awkwardness to be done. She felt really bad, she wasn't too sure what Quetza was thinking when he decided to make them meet, she wasn't exactly too sure. She smiled softly before speaking "It was very nice to meet you, I hope you have fun." She laughed and then nodded as nicely as possible.
Quetza was a little sad that his friend was wandering away. He really didn't want her to go anywhere. She just wanted to play with everyone and stay together and have a fun time. "Oh..." He said simply before flicking his hair out of his eyes again then flicked his hair out of his eyes. "Wait here!" He said to Kirja as he watched her walk away he didn't want to sit back and wait for that. He started to quickly move after her before springing in front of her and smiling. "I'll catch up with you later." He grinned at the idea. "I... I'll just ssssee you later." He smiled trying to make it better. she seemed sad and he wasn't even too sure why she was. He didn't want his best friend sad.
He nuzzled her in his normal friendly way before he started to quickly go the other way and then nudged Kirja starting to lead her back to where she came from he wasn't really that sure about what he was going to do now. He really felt horrible and he wasn't even that sure why. He was just hoping that everything was going to be okay.

Dunia was...hurt when Quetza believed her lie. Wasn't he supposed to be her best friend? He should have known she was lying and done something! Well, he couldn't really do anything, unless he ditched Kirja and Quetza was just too nice for that.
She barely reacted to his usual nuzzle - normally, she was quite expressive with Quetza and nuzzled him back in greeting and goodbye - but this time she just...couldn't. She gave another weak smile at both of them, and watched Quetza escort Kirja back to wherever it was she had come from. Dunia should have rushed off, to make the lie look more convincing, but she sort of stumbled a few steps, and then turned back to watch them leave. It was only when they were out of earshot that she spoke again.
"Stupid Quetza," she said, and instantly felt guilty at insulting her best friend. She heaved a sigh, cast one last regretful look at the empty space around her, before turning back towards home. She'd made up the lie, she might as well return home and actually help her mother hunt. There was nothing else to do, she thought sulkily, and trudged home.
