Oughtn't the Adeptus Mechanicus be the next army GW does? I mean, they're cool, they're a military power in the fluff, they're different from other Imperium armies (I'm thinking ridiculous armory capabilities - like huge), you know?
What do you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't nearly all potential Adeptus Mechanicus forces already covered by the Space Marines and Forge World (Imperial Armour) books? Then again, I haven't read much about the Adeptus Mechanicus in closer detail, so I might be wrong here.

Pardon, but the Mechanicus are not a commonly used, if at all, as a military force. They're rather EXTREMELY specialized.

Agreed; not since the Heresy have they really fought a war like marines and guard do, and that was against themselves.

And yes, the marine or guard dex's can be used to make AM armies just as easily. It saves GW trouble and keeps the heart of the hobby beating (Creativity).

the only AM stuff thats gonna see a battle feild are Titans.
While the AM have cool secret weapons they aren't getting an army any time soon.

well one could feild a guard army converted into Adeptus Mechanicus Tech Guard.

You could take

Cyber Enhancment
Bionics
Tech Priests
Storm Troopers

You could even run a Mechanicus Armoured company

but it would be great to feild one the thier Ordinatus Weapons

i have a friend in my gaming group who owns a Warlord Battle titan its like 3 feet tall

I do believe the titan legions are part of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

Actually: Exploration Fleets!

The AM is as much an army as any other part of the Imperium, they just have their own motives for fighting. Archeo tech anyone? STC anyone! And yes, the Titan legions are a part of the AM. Remember, they had robots, cataphracts, praetorians and all kinds of other weapons at their disposal.

It struck me that they would be different from the Guard gamewise, because the models are weak, just with great equipment. For example, you know the picture in the opening fluff of the latest rulebook? About "toll the great bell once"? the octopus-style flying guy with the staff - I'd like to start the leader of my force with a basic Arch Tech Magus or whatever, give him say 500 points of various equipment, and end up with that.

Get the rules for the Lost and the damned. You can use the rules to make a Adeptes Mechaniucs army. Along with some converting

Once agian the Lost & the Damned rules. Im accutally thinking about using the Chaos space marine rules to create a loyalist chapter(no marks at all) based around chapters sending their best into a crusader army & thus went beyond their normal training i.e. Deamonic strength could be how one squad leader single handly saved his whole squad from a cave in by moving each rock by him self . Be a good reason for me to create a interesting looking army.
