Clea flicked her stiff paw out and retracted it sharply when a sharp sting radiated up her leg. She wasn't sure exatly what she'd stepped on, but something had left a welt on the bottom of her right forepaw that throbbed with each little touch. Needless to say, it made her job already harder than it was to begin with.
Tucking it up close to her body, she started hobbling down the shoreline. Maybe if she was lucky, she would run into Pattin and he could patch her up without anyone else knowing. Not that she hated the pride; she just wasn't used to them. At all. Not all the...open, touchy feely, trusting stuff. Nope. Not one bit.

Iara hummed softly to herself as she waded through the water. So far the lioness had decided (or rather been coaxed into) to take a day off. Though at the same time her relaxation time involved searching for any useful herb.
It was while she was out looking through the shallows that the lioness happened to notice another coming her way. Was she hobbling? Frowning Iara made her way onto the shore. "Hey!" She called out and waved to the larger green lioness, "Are you okay?"

Clea looked over at the waves and had to really concentrate to pick the lioness' form out of the water she blended with. She looked around and then stopped. "Me? No, not really. I stepped on something and now....well." She flipped her paw upside down and flashed it the others way.
Why not show her? Maybe this female would be able to help her find a healer.

"Oh." Iara made a clicking noise in her mouth when she saw the paw. "Must be a pain." She commented before attempting to shake the rest of the water from her damp fur. Getting closer she tried to get a better look at the injured paw. Hmm. What did the lioness step on that would cause that?
"I can look at it if you want." She grinned at the other lioness, "You can trust me to take care of it. I'm Iara and I happen to be a mwani."

"No, really?" Clea rolled her eyes with a huff. "How astute of you to notice." She sat back on her haunches, slightly uncomfortable with having the smaller female hovering around her.
Then it clicked and she slightly gaped. "That would be wonderful. Thank you, Iara. I'm Clea, a nyangumi."

"Really." Iara replied before rolling her eyes, "Never know, you might find having your paw in that position comfy." She laughed before nodding. "Oh, a nyangumi? And a female one at that. Very nice."
"Nice to meet you, Clea." Iara's tail swished behind her as she looked closer. "If you want you can lay on your side here so I can fiddle with your paw. It might just be something sharp cut it and a piece of something got stuck up in there. If so I can just pull it out." She smiled, "And don't worry I have ointments against infection and something cool to help any soreness in your paw."

"Well, I do like it rough," She grinned and shook out her mane, careful for her flower. "Is that rare? Everyone I've worked with since joining has been male." Not that she minded all that eye candy running around, but it made her feel weird. Maybe she should have picked a different position?
After laying on her side, Clea propped her head up on a collection of seaweed. So, maybe it wasn't Pattin, but Iara wasn't killing her yet, was she? And on a completely different thought path, Clea wondered when the last time was that she'd been around another female lion. "Hey, do you know a Pattin? He joined with me and I wanted to check in on him."

Iara laughed at Clea's reply. Oh she like this lioness already. "Not too rare...but around here it just seems like our males are always first to grab that position." She smiled, "I'm glad that we at least have one female to represent us. We can be tough too. No matter what some males might think."
She laughed before gently digging in to Clea's paw with a claw. She didn't want to cut it worse, but there was something hard in there. That she could feel. Frowning Iara focused on her work before the other's comment caught her attention, "A Pattin?" She blinked before nodding, "Oh! He's our new mwani. Yes, I know him. Though not well." She looked up sheepishly, "I'm often too busy to really talk much to the others. But from what I've seen he's doing fine."

Clea cracked a little smile and looked up at Iara. "Of course we can. We're alot stronger than males; we just keep it secret."
She let out a yowl of surprised, then gritted her teeth together. It wasn't the pain that caused her to cry out, but the surprise of it. "Thats good," was her only comment as the large green lioness laid her head back down on the seaweed.

"Of course." Iara grinned, "Wouldn't want to scare them all now."
"Sorry." Iara blinked up at Clea before returning to her work. "Looks like I was right." The lioness carefully pried out a small piece of something hard and carefully tried to pinch Clea's pad to get out any other possible shards. Seeing nothing else come out she took out a shell and rubbed some strong smelling ointment against the paw. "I don't really have any with me, but go to the others in the pride. They'll have something to bandage your paw with. That way it doesn't get infected." She smiled, "Maybe you can get your Pattin to wrap it for you even."
Ears twitching the lioness turned as a waterbuck came towards them. "Oh! That's right." She shook her head. "I'm sorry, Clea, but I have to leave you now. It was nice meeting you though." She smiled, "I'll definitely come back to check on you later. So see ya!" With that she turned and started walking down the shore and out of sight.

"Oh?" Clea turned her head to examine the Mwani at work. She bit down on her bottom lip, but was mostly to curious to notice the discomfort. The lioness wanted to know exactly what it was that had her laid up, and was relieved to have it gone. "Thank you, Iara. Some day I'd like to repay the favor." She smiled.
Curiously, she turned her head to watch the waterbuck. What a strange looking creature. "See ya." She called out, and making sure to not dip her paw back into the sand, stood. Nimbly, she turned the other way and went to seek out her good ol' friend.
