The Princess and the Captain of the Zodiac Guard sat together on the end of Elke Arma's bed, cold hands wrapped around mugs of hot chocolate. They'd been patrolling together--as much to get Virgo used to the route again as to try and rebuild Chronos's confidence, even without the Opal--and it was so cold outside. The wind, Virgo had complained, had to be like twenty-five miles an hour.
So they had stopped off at Virgo's home, flopped down on the coverlet. It still smelled of Grayson; he'd only moved out a week or two ago, and it hadn't had time to really figure that out yet.
(Virgo might have been sleeping on the couch since then. There did seem to be a few blankets and pillows missing.)
She took a sip of her cocoa, scrubbed the whipped cream off her nose. "We've gotta be quiet," she said, "but at least we're warm, right?" With that said, she dropped her henshin; she was dressed for bed. "So... You're meeting with Helios soon, right? To talk about the search for the Opal Crystal?"

So far, Virgo had been the only one able to persuade Chronos to go out and patrol again. Despite this, the Princess of the Zodiac didn't think her presence was very helpful, not when she still did not possess her Crystal. The cold did not particularly matter. Chronos never minded any of the four seasons, but she did have to admit that the chilly wind sometimes made her wish they were properly bundled up.
"We are." She agreed, letting her hands draw in the warmth before she took a sip. She too, reverted back into Serenade Soriano, seated primly on her best friend's bed. "Yes. Flora told me that she's talked with Helios," Pegasus or Helios, it didn't matter, although the Senshi of Spring seemed adamant to use the former name, "and I've arranged a meeting this weekend."
She still remembered, when Helios had brought her into the dreamworld to meet him and had briefly entertained the idea of asking if he was available for meetings, but she didn't want to meet him without the Crystal.

"That's good," said Elke brightly, "That means we're a little bit closer to getting it back." It wasn't highly likely Helios would know where the Opal was, but maybe he would have a clue about it. And they knew that everyone had been pulled into the dream-realm of Tartaros, and that the enemy Wiseman had disappeared there. There had been that meeting, that awkward meeting..
She touched Serenade's shoulder, gently. Her hands were almost hot from being wrapped around the mug of cocoa. "I've been asking around, lately," she said, "It really does seem like Wiseman's gone." She hadn't heard anything about the man; had never actually seen him, but no one she knew had ever given any hint that they knew where he'd been. It was depressing, and disappointing to her. How could she be a good Captain and protect the Princess properly if she couldn't find one of the greatest enemies?
Deep breath. No use panicking over it. "But hopefully, he's left your Crystal in the dream space. We don't want to have to leave Destiny City to search."

"Mmhmm." Perhaps it was better for it to be in the dreamworld, then out in the open. Seeing all the chaos the scramble for the Rainbow Crystals had created had left her slightly perturbed, wondering what would happen if it was the Opal Crystal they were clamoring for instead. It was good then, that she had kept the loss of it as secret as possible, and only a select few would enter the dream world with them to search it. Without any conflict.
"I think that is the case." She affirmed with a nod. "Chibimoon was affected by Wiseman, which made her go all Black Lady, but she's not anymore. Obviously, he wouldn't give her up that easily, which meant he really is...well, you know..." Serenade trailed off, eyes distant. It wasn't nice to imagine someone's death, even if they were on the enemy's side. Especially when he had met his demise in the same place others on their side had too. Others she had known.
"It is our best bet." Serenade said. "And the most logical conclusion. I'd probably also have to ask Helios how many he... she can bring into the dreamworld so we can decide who comes along, and to assemble teams."

The news about Black Lady made her scowl. It was a little disappointing to hear that she'd never get to take on the woman who'd been lurking, intending to do who-knew-what to the Princess. And unlike her princess, she took a little bit of a vicious pleasure in the thought that Wiseman was dead. It was dulled a bit by the wish that it had been her that ended him. "Maybe she was just too strong for him to stop." A moment later, she scowled at herself; how in the world could she think that? Ever? Even about an enemy?
"Yes... Should we limit the pool of those we bring simply to Zodiacs? I think that would be best! Since... the white moon senshi are very bloodthirsty in their pursuit of those Crystals." Or so she'd heard.

Serenade shrugged. She couldn't hold any resentment towards Black Lady any longer, after all, she was Coralie. Perhaps she had managed to break out of Wiseman's control on her own; Coralie was a Moon Princess, and therefore possessed an incredible power. Still, at least she wasn't evil any longer, and Serenade was grateful for that. It was nice to have Coralie by her side.
"That would be a wise decision, yes." She bobbed her head in agreement. "If we should need any help, we could choose only those we know and trust. I've seen their fights for the Crystals," she had even been involved in them, "and it is not a pretty sight. The less people who know about the Opal Crystal's disappearance and it's current location, the better."

"We should," corrected Elke. She remembered how frightened she'd been after Wiseman stole the Princess's Opal. There was absolutely no part of her that desired to have to go after an unknown White Moon senshi to get the Crystal back. Ideally, after this they could learn of the true powers of the Crystal of Protection--and use them to keep the Crystal and the Princess safe.
Ideally.
"There is no reason to bring someone we don't trust on a mission this important." Otherwise, well, Virgo was a perfect shield... "I agree," she said. "Also... I've been thinking about starting to train newer senshi. We have good experience. We are among the most experienced senshi awake today--and we're the Guard, aren't we? And all of us have a common enemy." She was quiet for a minute, then reached up to brush her hair behind one ear. "I mean... more organized training, Princess. Than just going to assist new senshi we meet."

Should, of course. Or must, really, because this mission was important and it would be so strange to bring along an unknown White Moon Senshi, so strange that even they would be wary of someone on their own side. And Serenade did not want that. They had to work together, something she would help facilitate once she got the Crystal back.
"That is an interesting idea." She replied, tilting her head slightly in thought. It was true; they were among the first senshi awakened in Destiny City. It had been a year since Barren Pines... but as quickly as that thought came, she brushed the name away from her mind. "It is close to two years, I presume, since we've been awakened." It seemed so long, as if forever, yet it was so ingrained in her mind that she could also remember it like it had happened yesterday. "And I am always ready to help the Senshi who serve my cousin." Would Zue and the rest of the Zodiacs be as willing? She hoped they would.
"We'd have to speak with some Guardian Cats, probably. We need to know who are currently the highest ranked White Moon Senshi; this needs to be a cooperative effort."

Almost two years. That was right... they'd been dead for a few months, but reborn again in Barren Pines. It was a second chance, one they were lucky to have. She scooted closer to Serenade, draped an arm over the Princess's shoulders. They'd come up with something together, something that could result in the other senshi being able to take advantage of their experience. That was how this worked. Not every civilization in the past had been able to take advantage of the experience and power of a Zodiac, but now they could, and that was to their advantage, wasn't it?
She smiled at her friend, squeezed her closer for a moment. "Do you remember when you woke up," she asked. It was a silly question; every senshi, she thought, would remember their moment of awakening. For Chronos, it was especially true. One moment, a normal girl; the next, a Princess. Could it ever be forgotten, either time? "And we all told you we'd look after you?"
