 It was a beautiful sunny morning, the birds were chirping in the trees and the squirrels were running scurrying around on the ground. In fact, it was one of these squirrels that had made off with Ritsu's breakfast.
"Wait....please come back....Mm...." Ritsu chased after the creature that had stolen his much earned berries that had taken him two hours to pick. Not heeding his pleads, the squirrel ran up the side of the tree and disappeared inside a hole.
"I....Mm...." Ritsu looked down at the ground sadly, then looked back toward the forest he called home. Once again his breakfast had been stolen while he attended to his den. He had been picking flowers to bring inside his den. He enjoyed waking up to the sweet smell of flowers, but this day it had cost him his breakfast.

 Alamar strolled through the forest continuing on his exploration of the world. It had been quite some time since he had left his own home and the oddness of the outer world never ceased to amaze him. He was shocked when he witnessed a fox chase a squirrel right past him. It’s true I was in the shadows so I would not have been so easy to spot still to be chasing a squirrel asking it come back is quite strange. Alamar followed the strangely dressed fox not wanting to interfere if this was some kind of ritual to the area. After seeing the other fox look back to the forest somewhat disappointed he made a noise to draw the other fox’s attention over to him. Is that a male or a female? The tail would indicate a male, but the dress…I have seen such things on other females of the outer. Perhaps she was born differently? "Pardon me miss? Are you in distress?"

"Hm?" His ears perked up as he heard a noise behind him, "Oh!" He jumped slightly as he spotted the male behind him, he had the most beautiful coat with his starry pattern.
Blushing suddenly at the male's mistake, Ritsu looked to the side far too shy to correct his mistake. "Oh please excuse me...." His voice being his usual soft spoken one, barely above a whisper. He looked beyond the fox at the tree behind him. He could never look someone straight in the eye. He shifted nervously under the fox's stare.
"Distress?" He looked back suddenly, then his gaze looked toward the tree where the squirrel had disappeared with his breakfast, "No!" He said quickly, and loud enough to startle himself. "Oh....Oh i apologize....." he quickly lowered his head, mortified at himself. "I....I'm so sorry....." he mumbled.

Alamar looked at this odd female in confusion. First she was quite then looked at a tree and yelled ‘no’ loud enough to wake the dead. Now she is apologizing. My mother was correct females here in the outer are strange indeed. Alamar blinked very confused but his code would not allow for him to be silent when a female was in such plain distress. It is alright. There is no reason for you to apologize miss. I merely asked if you were in distress. I had no intention to cause you distress. Alamar smiled at the horrible lame joke not really comfortable with feminine apologies. Instead he looked up at the tree where the female had been looking before addressing the strange female again. Is there anything I can help you with even if you are not in trouble? It’s true the forest didn’t seem particularly dangerous but the idea of a female unescorted was baffling to Alamar. In his home females always had at least one escort should they require anything to be done that was physically demanding.

"Mm...." Ritsu blinked at the joke the male made, then shook his head. "Nononono.....it was nothing you did.....nothing at all.....It was my fault...my fault entirely.....Please do not take offense to anything...." He laid on the ground."
Oh now, I've done it again.....Why can't i just act normal in front of people? He's going to think me weird. What should i do? What should i do?
Ritsu looked up at him meekly. He had many experiences where males used to hurt him for his differences. It was not hard to tell that there was something wrong with him. He dressed as a female after all.
"Why can I not just be normal...." He whispered miserably to himself.

Now Alamar was truly concerned. The female lay down and started spouting nonsense of some kind about not being normal. Alamar walked until he was in front of the female while still giving her a comfortable distance according to the rules which Alamar had been raised by. He too lay down. As I have said before miss, you have done nothing wrong. As such there is nothing that I can take offense to. As far as being normal goes.. If you do not mind me overstepping my bounds as a stranger to this land I must say nothing here is normal. The outer world is very strange to me. Perhaps those who also live in this area view you as unusual; however I view everything in this land with such context. Alamar bowed his head until his nose touched the ground My apologies in not introducing myself. You may address me as Alamar. May I inquire as to your own name miss?

Ritsu looked up at the male mystified. No one had ever treated him with such care and respect before. But he was still under the impression that 'he' was a 'she'. Perhaps that had something to do with it. It strengthened his reasoning for not correcting the male. It was a miracle to be treated like this, and he wanted it to last as long as it could.
"Mm...R...Ritsu......my name.....is Ritsu...." He blushed at the male's proximity to him.
"Wh....Where do you come from?" He whispered the question in curiosity, somehow managing the courage to ask.

Alamar nodded Ritsu. It was a pleasant sounding name. I hail from the land of Tzara. It is a small land by the sea. Alamar couldn’t help but smile at the thought of his homeland. There things so much simpler and more civilized then the outer world. Miss Ritsu may I ask where your escort is if you have one? I know there are many females here in the outer that do not have escorts; however surely as frail as she is Miss Ritsu will have an escort to look after her. It would be better to get this female back to her escort or fellowship before she gets hurt. She seems frail for a female.

"Tzara......." He blinked confused. He had never heard of such a place, though it did sound lovely. Not that he didn't enjoy his home, at lest when the animals weren't stealing his food and the neighboring foxes weren't beating him up. Well, maybe he wasn't that crazy about his home after all.
"Hm?" He cocked his head to the side. "Escort?" The word was foreign to him, "What is an.....escort?" He placed his head on his front paws, eyeing the male with genuine interest.

Alamar tried to do his best to explain the concept of a torvarish to this strange female. Still at least she is polite enough to listen and ask rather than behave like most out-worlders and simply assume meanings. In the outer they are referred to as ‘escorts’ in Tzara they are actually called a ‘tovarish’. I had thought perhaps you knew of the outer sayings. My apologies Miss Ritsu. A tovarish is a partner one whom you can trust to assist you with your tasks that you cannot do alone. It could be a son, a father, a mate, or a close friend. In Tzara few females travel without a tovarish beside them in case they run into a task that could be strenuous to them. There is an absolute trust between the two. It is difficult to explain how much trust there is between two tovari. How you explain it is a fox that you can trust with all that is precious to you should you get hurt or die? A fox that is separate from you yet a part of you. Words do not do it justice. Do you have one such fox with whom you have been separated Miss Ritsu? They must worried over your absence.
(blah about six stories have been mixed to give Alamar his background. why must he be so troublesome.)

He waited and listened intently as the male spoke, then as he was finished he shook his head. "I have no one like that." It was a lovely description about the relationship between two foxes. Complete trust in someone sounded heavenly to Ritsu's ears but he knew that he would never have someone like that.
Even his own parents had rejected him for being born a boy, something he had no control over. Sighing, with a look of sadness on his face, he looked away from Alamar.
"I am.....alone...." The word caught in his throat.

Alamar stared at Miss Ritsu in shock though his thoughts did not show. She has no one like that? How can that be? She is so frail and meek. Who protects her? Alamar’s tail twitched in irritation at the idea of a female being left defenseless anywhere much less right in front of him. He wanted to simply take over the situation and state that he would protect her; however, protocol would not allow for such impertinence. Not all females here in the outer have tovari. I have noticed this. I once asked another fox why she had no ‘escort’ and she proceeded to yell at me for quite some time about how she could take care of herself. I am certain that you will find someone for you soon enough, now Miss Ritsu the day is dragging on. If you would allow it I would be willing to hunt or fish to get both of us some breakfast if you have not had any yet. Would you be willing to show me a stream in the area? I’m afraid I do not know the lay of the land well. Perhaps this will lift her spirits. She seems quite down. I have to do something.

Ritsu wasn't naive enough to believe that he was capable of taking care of himself. He knew that he managed to get by, but most days he went hungry. And since he wasn't a good fighter, it was easy for the other foxes to come into his territory and attack him.
But no one had ever offered to help him, hunt or otherwise. And he started to feel the prickles of guilt on his consciousness. Alamar was only offering to help him because he was under the false impression that 'he' was a 'she'.
"I...." He opened his mouth to correct him finally, but he didn't quite know how to accomplish it now that he'd led this nice male on for so long. "I am so sorry...." He lowered his head, covering his face with his paws. "I do not deserve your kindness...." He whispered sadly.

Alamar stood up and reached forward with a tentative paw. He tapped Miss Ritsu’s paw but did not remove it from her face. While this was a breach of protocol Alamar could not simply allow Miss Ritsu to cry when she had done nothing to warrant such an emotional response. I am uncertain as to what you are referring to Miss Ritsu. I have offered nothing beyond what I was willing to give. You have done nothing to make yourself undeserving of the small scope of my offer. Have done nothing to offend my sensibilities or assault me in any form. As such I see no reason for you to continue to apologize. Alamar withdrew his paw and waited patiently for a response from the vixen. He was uncertain what more he could say. The ways of the out-worlders was so strange and confusing. Had Miss Ritsu crossed some sort of protocol line and he was unaware of?

"No....I have.....I....mislead you....I'm sorry..." he blushed as he felt Alamar place a paw over his, "Please don't be nice to me....I don't deserve it....I....I'm not a....vixen...." He whispered miserably.
"I know i should have told you but i....You were being so nice and....I'm so sorry.....I didn't mean to I just.....it felt....nice.....But it was wrong....so wrong....I understand if you want to hurt me now...." He cringed. So many males took offense to his attire that he was frequently the victim of abuse. But dressing like a vixen made him feel better about himself, at least in a small degree.
