The sun rose on the horizon casting the sea a beautiful orange red, capturing the deep blues of the water and falling on a creature that was far more solid, but far less dangerous than the watery tide. His fur was socking as he lay far enough in the tidal waters that it washed over his dark fur flattening his back fur completely making him look very slick, but above the wash his head and shoulders rose, his nose turned towards the rising sun, admiring the waters, admiring another day.
The big make roars a low grumbling roar at the sun, a greeting to the day. "'Nother Amphitrite,'noter day." He smiles flickering his tail and causing a flutter of drops to splatter through the air.
The little bright red bird chirped happily, zipping in and out of the shower of drops that the big lion flicked at her with his tail. A beautiful song echoed from her beak as she landed in his thick mane, virtually disappearing as she preened her clean, if salty feathers. "And a beautiful one it's gunna be Posey!"
Watching the sun rise an adult lioness stretched out on the sand. It really was beautiful how the sea could change colors to match the fire of the morning sky. She smiled at the thought before splashing the water with a paw. "Sure is a pretty day." She commented softly to the large creature resting next to her. "Right, Jelani?" Her familiar, a male waterbuck, blinked his large golden eyes at her before nodding sleepily.
Nodding off the lioness almost went to sleep before Jelani nudged her, "Iara. Iara!" He whispered before looking around frantically. Even now that he was under the healer's care the waterbuck was used to being another's prey. She herself had to knock him out before he would even allow her to tend to his wound the first day that they met. So it was routine for her to hear his panicked whispers when another lion was nearby.
"Someone coming then?" Yawning loudly teh blue lioness stood and stretched. Now who else would be up this early in the morning? Rolling her eyes at her skittish friend Iara started around the outcrop of rocks towards the bigger stretch of beach where two familiar figures were. "Posey!" Immediately her expression brightened into a happy smile as she raced across the sands towards the bigger lion.
The big jet-black lion smiled widely as the female called his name. "Ah good mornin' to ya lassie, be ya out enjoin tha suns risin'?" He smiles a friendly smile, turning over slightly in the swell so he could face the bright blue female a little more head on. "Me 'n Am are just vain' our morning bath an' enjoin tha pretty colours." He chuckles flickering his tail around a little and glancing at Iaras friend.
"Who be ya companion tar lass? He looks kinda frightened. Ay lad, don't ye be frightened none of us, we be well fed 'n full of fish, well, not Am she be full of some sort of vergitarian stuff and wazzums but she aint likely to do ya any harm."
Amphitrite clicks her beak and laughs a chirping laugh taking to her wings she flutters over to Iara "G'morning miss Iara, I do hope Posey and I find you well. Yes, he is always this noisy in the morning." She flutters to the waterbuck and flits once around his head before returning to her perch in Poseidon's mane, taking up her beautiful morning song once again.
"Aye." Iara grinned, "An' a pretty one it is." She didn't hesitate as she splashed into the ocean water and started towards Posey. "Your morning bath, eh?" She laughed before looking back at the waterbuck who hovered nearby. The lioness motioned for him to join them but even then Jelani took his time making his way over there. "Jelani." She frowned before looking at Posey with a small smile, "He's my companion of sorts, ever since I helped him recover from a serious leg injury. Though the poor guy finds himself a bit over whelmed by lions. But he won't leave me either."
Snorting as water splashed around his legs the waterbuck sheepishly nodded to the big lion before scooting around behind Iara. It would be a while yet before he was comfortable enough around others. Though he was curious. This was the first time that he actually saw this friend of Iara's, most of the time she was with the healers. Watching the bird Jelani jumped in surprise as seh flitted around his head before turning his gaze away sheepishly.
"Good morning to you, Miss. Amphitrite." Replied Iara after peeking back at her waterbuck with a small smile. "Well indeed! I do hope the same for you two." She laughed at the bird's comment, "I see that! Though I don't think I can imagine a quiet Posey." She smiled playfully at the bigger lion before looking back to the sea. It really was pretty this time of morning.
Poseidon chuckled lightly. "Yar, well tha whole family is large and loud." he grins and lifts one of those extra large paws draping it easily over the blue lioneses shoulders he presses down ever so gently. "Wanna join us or are ya scared of getting ya belly wet?" He grins playfully, his big golden eyes smiling.
"Posey, not so rough!" Amphitrite chides, shaking her little red head before plucking a single strand of hair from his mane. "She's not one of your brothers you know?"
The big black lion chuckles. "I was bin' gentle Am! Stop ya lectures." He shakes his head and smiles a charming smile at the blue lioness lowering his paw, though he left a very wet patch behind where he had draped his very large paw. "Won't ya join us Miss Iara, you an' ya waterbucky friend are very welcome ta ave a splash wit us and enjoy tha suns risen' ia it be a pleasing' ya." He rolls his eyes and turns his gaze upwards "That more to ya liken Am?"
The little bird bobbed a bit and tugged another strand of his mane out. "Sometimes poesy I wish I was your mother I'd clip you round the ear I would." She huffs though there was a deep amusement in her eyes.
"No surprise there." Iara laugehd before finding herself trapped beneath his paw. Though for some reason the lioness wasn't frightened or annoyed in the slightest. "Me 'fraid of getting my belly wet? That's a good one!" She laughed though the waterbuck started forward towards Poseidon hesitantly. Listening to Am, Jelani nodded his agreement. Though he caught Iara's gaze and sighed softly. She wasn't at all overwhelmed by the larger lion. Actually he saw the playful glint in her eyes.
"Maybe I will." She laughed and shook her fur out before suddenly slipping beneath the waters surface and disappearing. Bubbles leaving her mouth in silent laughter the lioness swam towards the deeper waters before finally emerging a bit further out. "If you could keep up with me!" She called out before dissappearing beneath the waves again.
Jelani shook his head. Where did she get so much energy from this early in the morning?
Poseidon chuckles brightly, he jumps to his paws, towering out of the water he bolted after the bright blue female with a laugh. "Haha! I wus born ere lassie I can keep up wit tha fishes!" He grins broadly causing a very splashy tilde wave around him as he races for the smaller female.
The little bird took to her wings, flying up like a little red bullet and landing herself on the warerbucks head. "Don't worry, he's as soft as they come I promise you." She clicks her beak and shakes her head. "You're gunna cause a flood on the beach Posey!" she laughs.
Wading up to Iara he grins, easily able to keep his paws on the sandy bottom. "Be tha a challenge to a race lass? I be warnin ya I may be a biggun but I can race like a cheetah in tha water." He beams.
Iara laughed at the other's reply before sending a splash towards him, "Better yet the fishes think I'm a fish!" She called out playfully before spinning around in the water. Her joy at being able to swim with another so playfully was apparent even as she challenged him in the waters. Floating she waited for Poseidon to catch up before laughing. "Challenge? Sounds like a plan!" She nodded with a grin, "Though I warn ya, not many can keep up with me once I'm in these waters." After all most of her life even while she was a rogue was spent in the sea rather than on land.
Tilting his head up Jelani tried to peek at the red bird, "Mmm." He nodded careful to not knock off Am before grinning faintly.
Poseidon grins broadly "Alright then lassie, how about to tha rocks and back again." He points out to the middle distance and a rocky outcrop. "Thar and back and tha winner get tha bargain rights?" He grins playfully, his dark mane falling in to his golden eyes.
Am clicks her beck "Just be careful you two! We can't rescue you if you start drowning!" She shakes her head, lions, they were so impulsive and maybe something else too? She could see the pleased spark between the two, maybe Poseidon had found someone at last.
"Yeah, yeah Am just you squark go will ya!" he winks at Iara "Ya ready?"
Squinting against the light from the sunrise Iara spotted the rocks. "Seems like a race to me." She commented with a laugh, "Though I don't know about that bargain." She paused playfully as she grinned up at him, "Cuz I wouldn't know what to ask for when I won." Laughing she nodded at Poseidon before slipping beneath the waters and swimming towards the rocks. Though she wanted to take it slowly through the waters the lioness couldn't help but to push herself faster than usual since it was after all a race. Though she was curious...how fast was he really? Emerging from the waters she took a peek around before taking another breath and pushing herself back into the race to the rocks.
Jelani shook his head. He shared the same thought as the bird though he didn't know how to take this relationship between Iara and the other lion. Eh, as long as she was happy. Right? The waterbuck yawned and stretched before watching the rocks again in an attempt to see who would get there first. Soon enough he saw Iara emerging close to the rocks, though where was Posiedon?
The big black lion gave her a head start before he started out after her, his dark bode moving the waves aside as he swam. he moved easily, his hug bulky form shifting against the pushing waves easily. He had been born here after all he felt he knew how to swim before he could truly walk properly. "Quck as ya like lassie!" He chuckles kicking off from the rocks as soon as he made it there, turning by ducking under the water and pushing off with powerful back legs whooshing his jet black body back towards the shore.
Amphitrite chuckles. "He's showing off to her you know?" She looks down at the waterbuck, and clicks her beck. "I think he likes her, he doesn't share his sea moments with anyone."
Iara grinned as she saw Posiedon kick off from the rocks. Just what she had been waiting for. With a laugh the lioness followed his lead and started to swim towards the shore. It was hard keeping up with where she was at since her blue coloring made her blend in with the ocean. Closing her eyes against the water the lioness kept straining forward until her paws touched sand. Breathing heavily Iara grinned and hugged at the shore. What a race! Shaking her wet mane from her face the lioness dared to peek open one eye to see if her companion had beaten her to the finish.
The waterbuck regarded the two silently before looking back at the bird, "I know." His voice was soft as the gentle waves crashing against the sand, "I think she might like him too."
