 It was another day where a young white and blue cub found nothing better to do than laze about and trace patterns in the dirt with her claws. She traced a few symbols she had seen her mother carve just for practice. Maali was going to be a carver just like her mother, and though the concept of 'the more practice the better' ever occurred to the young female, her mind was always wandering the creative side of life.
Letting out a yawn, she rolled over and curled her paws to her belly. Her big blue eyes watched the clouds float by in the sky and she giggled as she spotted one that could have looked like her dad. Or perhaps it was just any old lion. But then it slowly began to stretch and fade away, until it looked like some sort of long necked dog, then a fish with nubs for fins, then finally just nothing at all.
Letting out another sigh, Maali's ears flicked to the sound of rustling in the bushes near by. A strange noise echoed inside the branches and leaves, and for a moment she couldn't figure out what it was. Her blue eyes narrowed as she focused upon the bush, inching closer and closer to see what it was....

Like usual, Kui's little head was swimming with the countless new things she learned every day. If a barrage of questions towards a stranger or her parents couldn't answer her questions, then she'd investigate herself. The blue cub had more ambition in her than her petite size would allow!
Right now, Kuijia was investigating the most fascinating phenomenon she has ever come across. She was certain even the shrine keeper of knowledge would be impressed with her findings! After giving the little dent in the earth a good hard stare for a significant amount of time... Kui came to the conclusion that something put it there. Something like a rock that fell from the sky and landed there. But were was the rock now? Kui lifted her gaze as if to search for the rock, only to find more indentations! Is it possible that several rocks fell out of the sky? It didn't take long for the young lioness to realize that they weren't rock-prints at all. They were in fact, tiny paw prints... And they lead right up to her apparently clueless sister.
"Maali! Wait, stop!" Kuijia leaped to the rescue, her purple striped tail thrashing behind her as she came to an abrupt halt between her sister and the obviously dangerous bush.

 Maali came to a halt at the sound of her sister's voice. Flicking her ears back against her head, she was reluctant to turn her head around. Slowly but surely she did so, only to come nose to nose with Kuijia as she came bounding over her and between her and the bush. Blinking big blue eyes, she tilted her head, her claws mindlessly drawing circles in the dirt. "Kui? Whats wrong?" she said as she swished her own striped tail.
Maali couldn't help but try to peek over her sisters shoulder as her eyes light up wide. "Sshhh, somethings in there." she said and pushed her sister to the side. Just that moment, the grumpy gurgling sounds of a brown colored Genet came waddling out of the bush, muttering something under his breath. He paused......glanced up at the cubs.... shrugged his shoulders, and began to waddle off, still mumbling something inaudible. Though one could safely assume it was probably of the most foul language anyone has ever heard. His short tail swayed back and forth as he pushed his way between the two lion cub's paws. "Step aside, step aside. Young lion cubs...good for nothings, no manners...NO manners." he mumbled to himself as he nosed his way through toes, claws and tails.

Kui's face twisted into a snarl as her sister tried to push her to the side. "No!" She shouted, attempting to turn herself into something like a huge boulder to prevent being moved at all. "It's dangerous, Maali! Step back!"
Kui turned to face the "danger" herself, claws extended and ready to pounce if it dared make a move. She snarled and hissed to announce her presence, but all of this quickly faded when the genet appeared. Kuijia made her observations in silence. It was small... fluffy... and well, absolutely adorable. Despite the mumble of insults, Kuijia felt this bizarre urge to scoop up the little creature and nuzzle it to death.
Then again, she was also pretty disappointed. It was obviously not a threat at all... So what was she going to do now? Kuijia glanced at her sister, visibly holding in the laughter that was bubbling up in her throat. Kuijia decided she might as well put on a charade, pretending to protect her sister from this monster. Maybe onlookers would be impressed?
"Halt, fiend!" She gave the genet a dramatic shout as she politely lifted a paw to let it pass unharmed. "Your demonic presence is unwelcome here!"

Maali couldn't help but giggle and flop onto her haunches messily. What appeared from the bush was not at all what she was expecting, and it was clear it wasn't what her sister was expecting either. Her tail flicked too and fro as she wiggled low to the grass and prodded the creature with one paw, before quickly pulling it back. "He's funny sis. Lets keep him." she mrrowed and rolled over on her back to gaze at him upside down. A cheeky grin spread across her muzzle as her blue eyes narrowed tauntingly.
"Demonic?" the creature snorted as he eyed the huge paw, snarled at it, and continued to wobble on. Clearly he had been eating far too much, for his swollen tummy made him extremely slow....and extremely grumpy. "I shall not halt. Ruffians." it snorted again before it was quickly jabbed in the gut. It doubled over and made a strange, awe full gurgling moan like sound as its tiny paws sank tiny claws into the dirt. Another stream of profanity spewed from its lips.
Maali giggled again. She had no idea what the creature was saying, let alone what any of it meant. "Ooh do it again!" she said and jabbed another paw at it just to rile it up. She wanted to see just how good of a guard her sister was getting to be....if she was getting to be one at all that is. Maali did love to tease her siblings so.

"Keep him? It's a monstersteh-ossity!" Kuijia stumbled over the complex word a bit, but she was confident she had it correct and that it totally explained why they couldn't keep it. "Don't touch it Maali, what if it bites you?" For a moment the over-dramatic tone fled her voice as real concern took its place. But it didn't last very long at all when she witnessed the fat fuzzy thing flop over helplessly.
The spotted cub laughed as the genet got a face full of dirt and spewed some more words that she couldn't understand. She dropped to the earth, her rump swinging in the air as she took her turn prodding at the angry critter. All thoughts of the charade she had planned, or any danger at all had fled her mind. It was obvious this wasn't a time for guarding or investigating... it was a time for playing! And Kuijia was totally fine with that.

Fretti was not pleased. Not in the slightest. He laid there being poked and prodded for several long minutes, letting out several harsh sighs. But the Genet had had enough. With a hiss, he exploded into a rage of teeth, fur and claws as he came unglued. Spewing even louder profanity, spits, and curses, he went after the white and blue cub first. Size did not stop the critter, for he was far too much enraged to care. "I'll show you!" he spat and hopped around their paws, trying to bite and n** anything he could reach.
Maali let out a tiny giggle and roar as she leaped around, making it impossible for the creature to latch onto any part of her. She even succeeded in batting her tail across its head as it dove beneath her. "Fun! I like it!" she cooed and continued to leap around, hopping over and behind her sister for "protection". Though she really didn't need it, but to her it was a game of tag, and the Genet was it.

Kui's frown slowly faded as she realized how seriously pissed off this little genet was getting. And if she wasn't mistaken, it had teeth and claws. In her book, teeth and claws can do some pretty serious damage. In his rage Fretti completely lost his cute, fluffy demeanor. Now he's evolved from being completely nonthreatening, to being a little more of a moderate threat.
Kui watched her sister dance around with the vicious thing, concern striking her face, but she seemed to have it under control... if anything went wrong, Kuijia was more than ready to pounce.
But it wasn't long before Maali hid behind her, using her as a shield of sorts. Kui supposed that was her cue to go into defensive mode. Her fur formed into bristles that could rival a porcupine's as she hissed and bared her teeth at the threat. In one swift motion, Kui lifted a over-sized white paw and swiped at Fretti's face.

Maali watched her sister puff up with a smirk and sat back on her haunches in a rather haughty manner. If it was one thing, Maali liked her battles fought for her. She was too much of a priss to do her own fighting, and besides.... her claws would be used for art and carving anyhow. She couldn't risk breaking them, now cold she? "Oh do get it sis! Thats it! Get 'em!" she cheered on her bristled up sibling as she brought a tiny pink tongue over a dainty small paw.
Fretti hissed at having a paw swipe him in the face. While there was no bleeding, his skin stung a bit. Opening his jaws wide he snapped back at the cub and hopped an inch closer. Just because they were bigger than him didn't mean a thing. Fretti was a mean Genet with one serious attitude. "Nasty brat, standing there as bold as brass!" he snorted at Maali before turning his pissed off gaze back to Kui, almost daring her to try that move again.

Kuijia couldn't hear Maali. Kuijia couldn't hear anything at the moment. She couldn't see anything either. Nothing but the raging ball of fluff before her. The cub had a goal, and it was the only thing that was running her little brain right now. The impact against the things' face felt good, like a release of pressure, like a victory before the battle even really began. Still, Kuijia remained poise, ready to strike again like a snake with a temper.
Kui's little yellow eyes locked with Fretti's in an intense stare. She wasn't going to make the first move if a tussle was to ensue. She'd much rather have the thing turn and walk away... but it's not like she was going to say that. The one goal was still in mind, and it consumed each of her movements, as if she was a puppet to it.
The fierce stare-down continued. There was nothing in the world but her and Fretti.

Maali watched as Kui and the thing stared each other down for what seemed like hours. Yeah that would get boring fast. Taking a claw and swiveling it around in the sad, she doodled a picture of their stare down before letting out a tiny yawn. "Soooo..uh...either of you two gunna do anything?" she asked blankly as her tail tip flicked against the ground. Boy was she glad she wasn't going to be a guard.
Fretti snorted at the other cub as she returned his stare with much more intensity, he almost let out a chuckle. But he was far too upset for that. Growling, he shuffled his feet against the ground, scraping his claws into the dirt. He was about to attack....when the blue and white cub spoke. What did they think, this was some sort of game? Snorting, he hissed at her and charged straight at Maali. "We'll see how you like this!" he spat as he dove between Kuij's legs.
Maali lept up with a giggle. "thats more like it!" she squeaked as she hopped around, easily keeping out of its reach.

Kuiji snapped the instant the beast twitched his mouth to spit the taunt from his lips. The cub struck out with a lightening fast swiftness that was far beyond her age. Her white paws extended silver claws that aimed at Fretti's squishy appearance as it moved towards her sister.
It was as if she was acting completely on instinct. She didn't appear to be in control, but she still understood that whatever consequences came with her actions would have to be dealt with later. Which might include a nice fresh wound on her ankles from the genet's own weapons.
