It had been a while since Kisuli had joined the Jini-msemi, though slightly less time since she had really accepted them and a new name.. but since things had quieted down, she was very happy here. She loved being near her sister and seeing her nieces and nephews grow. They were getting big now, almost ready to get sent away.. and it made her a little uneasy but they were excited. She'd just finished listening to Teke complain about how his best friends were already gone off on their name quests and how he missed them and wanted to go, too. It was hard not to share some of the excitement.

She didn't have anywhere in mind to go but she'd gone off by herself for a while around in the swamps. Maybe she could find a nice sunny spot to lay in, that was one thing she missed about the wide open and dry spaces of home.

Hmmm. Anjali was starting to get used to this swamp business, but she was realizing that she still didn't quite know enough of them to really fulfill this life of being in a pride. Or...whatever. So she had decided that it was time to start introducing herself to those that she was unfamiliar with. Anjali just...had to make sure that she wasn't going to be too overbearing. Her enthusiasm wouldn't be shared by everyone, sadly.

So she hummed along, her slightly muddy paws trying to stick to the dryer parts. Eyes darted around, wondering...woah. The black was sneaky, but those yellow and orange bands were impossible to hide unless one slathered them in mud. The violet lioness changed directions to go see who that was.

Kisuli hardly had an attention span to really keep track of everything going on around her, it was just by chance she caught a glimpse of the bright colored lion heading her way. It was such a unique color! Kisuli didn't see it around much, anyway. Maybe it wasn't so unique. But it still caught her attention and so she came to a stop and watched the purple lioness come closer.

"Wow, you really stand out," she commented when Anjali was close enough to hear her.

Anjali laughed. "Perhaps!" she said, "but I do think that your legs stand out just as much if not more." She bobbed her head happily, if a bit...annoyingly. "Sorry to just barge in, but I couldn't resist. My name is Anjali, and I was just hoping to make your acquaintance," she added on with a smile. "I only really know Jitokeza, and figured I may need a few more friends around here."

Plus, it might be neat to have some female friends!

"Yes, I suppose you're right," she said, lifting up a foreleg and waving it around a little bit. She did have some bright colors on her, too, but Kisuli never really had to look at herself so it was easy to put out of her mind.

"Oh! I know Jitokeza!" she said suddenly when Anjali mentioned him, though she knew it wasn't really what she ought to be talking about. Bad Kisuli! Introductions first!

"I'm Kisulisuli, it's nice to meet you Anjali!" she said brightly, "You're new here, then? How do you like it?"

Anjali's tail swished with joy when she heard how Kisulisuli knew Jito. Great! It was always nice to have something to talk about. More than just the weather.

"Yes, somewhat new. It took a bit getting used to the...wetness, and adjusting to pride life rather than being a rogue, but the benefits far outweigh the adjustments I've had to make." She smiled brightly, as she enjoyed having that sense of safety, being one in a group rather than one alone.

"Still, I need to get out more, so that's been my goal lately. Funny that we have something in common already, though!"

"You were a rogue?" she asked curiously, "That's interesting! I came from another pride, the same one as Jitokeza, actually. I guess that's why we became friends here- though I guess he's better friends with my sister, but she was here first." She rambled a little bit, realizing she was saying a lot of unnecessary things but still somehow feeling they needed to be said.

"I was just looking for a sunny, dry spot, actually," she said, thinking about what Anjali said about getting used to all the water, "Do you want to come with me?"

The violet lioness took a moment to think about that. It probably wasn't the wisest decision, as she was conversing with Kisulisuli, but it was a curious thing. Growing up in one pride, and somehow ending up in the same, different pride as adults. Life was just...curious.

"Oh, uh, sorry! Yes, a rogue. It was nice when I was younger, but too vulnerable for me now that I'm older. Not wiser, but...just more careful," she nodded.

Quickly, with the next breath, she answered again! She liked this, as it made her feel involved, and invited. "That would be nice! Dry...would be nice," she laughed. "Maybe it'll give me a different view of the swamp, too." So much to see, but she was too wary to see all of it alone.

Had Anjali asked about the situation leading up to the switch, Kisuli would have had an easy explanation for her. She often reviewed it herself, considering how she hadn't really come here willingly. Though now she did stay here willingly.

"More careful is probably wiser," she said, beaming, "It never hurts to be careful, that's why I like staying in a pride." She could have been a rogue, or so she guessed- she wasn't positive where her mother had ended up.. or really her father. Everybody just kind of dispersed, that was probably a major factor in her decision to stick with the Pridelands when she was younger. It was something familiar. And when Baridi followed Gebali here.. she followed Baridi!

"I have some idea of where to look but it changes from day to day, I think," she said, looking back in the direction she'd been walking, "It might take a lifetime to really get used to how the lands here hold onto water."

Anjali drew herself a little closer to Kisulisuli, as she probably had a better idea of where she was going than Anjali did. She was getting used to some parts...but not enough of it. She nodded along, agreeing with what the black lioness mentioned.

"Really?" she asked in regards to how the land dealt with the excess water. If it was never really the same...perhaps she shouldn't really try to learn in, and just go with the flow! "Guess I'll just have to adapt to the...wet better."

"Well," Kisuli said, chuckling at herself, "Maybe I just can't get the hang of it. There must be somewhere that stays dry most of the time but I haven't found it yet. Maybe if where I'm thinking isn't dry, we can try looking for it."

She smiled at Anjali again and then started leading the way. It was nice to have company, she didn't mind taking someone along with her, especially if they were trying to make friends. Anjali seemed perfectly nice.

Anjali agreed, and quietly followed Kisulisuli. She didn't really want to distract her, but there was one little nagging thing in her mind. She couldn't quite resist not saying it, so when it seemed there was a slight lull in their walking, she popped out her question.

"So um...what do you know about Jitokeza that you'd be willing to share?"

"Umm," she thought about the question, not really thinking she knew much private information about Jitokeza so not worrying about what she might say, "I know he came here with his mate, that's probably another reason Baridi and him got along, something else in common. That's why she came here, I guess it's not uncommon to find love on a name quest. But she's gone, probably another victim in the murders going on around that time."

She frowned, "That's when I came here, didn't approve of Baridi leaving our safe home when this one seemed so chaotic. But that's all over now."

How much did Anjali know about the things that had been happening in the pride?
PostPosted: Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:19 pm

Anjali didn't know everything. Perhaps she shouldn't have asked? She had heard about the murders, but they had discovered the culprit around the same time she had come. It uneased her a bit, knowing that it had happened. This was different. Knowing someone personally affected...it was more than unsettling. Still, she swallowed the knowledge, and would deal with it later.

"Yes, it's been over for a bit," she said with a wane smile. "Less to worry about, thankfully. The danger felt the same being out alone, if not worse." Still, she realized herself that it had really changed the pride, if only through her perspective and guessing.

"At least in a pride you have someone to look out for you," Kisuli agreed with a nod, "However unsettling it is to think anybody you don't know very well could be dangerous. But it's not nice to think like that now, I wouldn't say it's dangerous here now after all!" She smiled. And, trying to think of a way to get back to a cheery topic, she thought back to what Anjali had originally asked her.

"Well, uh, back to Jitokeza," she said, "He's a little jumpy, I'd say, but I guess I don't really know him very well. And I sometimes make people a bit jumpy so I'm not sure I'm a good one to judge that."
