The sky was dotted with the silvery lights of stars, the moon was hidden and yet this did not take away from the beauty of the night. It was a perfect night for romantic encounters, even--despite the clear sky that implied a chill would soon be there.
And only one figure marred the beauty of the otherwise peaceful field. A small, blonde haired figure, with a pulsing white light in his hands in the shape of a tear drop. "I used to one of them," Calcifer bragged to the wizard in question. He usually did this when they were out at night, resulting in his well dressed companion to roll his eyes.
"Be on your best behavior," Howl told his friend. "I've invited everyone--I think. They should all be able to see this."

Dimitri wasn't supposed to be out this way. He really wasn't allowed. But he'd found an initation on the floor of Kali's closet when he'd been searching for Luka, and he couldn't help it. Stars were going to be falling, apparently, and the little adventurer could hardly miss THAT.
So, when night fell, he clambered out his window with his backpack and shimmied down the drainpipe, taking off down the street. Unfortunately, it hadn't been as stealthy as he'd thought. Luka, and a certain blonde host, had both seen him. And really, Katia wasn't about to let Dimitri break the rules. So, she clambered out HER window, shimmied down the drainpipe, and followed after him.
She lost him, though, a few blocks away. His legs were just so long... But, she knew where he was going. She had seen the invitation too; so, she made her way over to the field, spotting Howl immediately. He certainly stood out, holding Calcifer like that. The little firedemon looked like a star, floating in Howl's hands. If only Katia knew how accurate that observation was as she stepped into the field with Luka perched on her shoulder, looking around. Where was Dimitri? He had to be here...
But he wasn't quite there yet. He was in a much different part of town right now, coaxing one dog-like Shadow into a backpack, so the poor thing wouldn't have to walk on the evil 'white stuff'. Once that was finished, he hefted the bag up and ducked out of the hole in the wall, hurrying to the field. He didn't see Katia as he stood and looked up at the bright sky.
"See, Balto? The stars are really pretty...You know, the ground isn't going to hurt you." He told the Shadow nestled in his backpack. "I'm standing on it just fine. You'll be okay."
Another member of the Kovak family was currently on her way to the field; Kalypso, better known as Kali, was giggling as she laced her fingers through Lance's. "Come on. It's going to be really pretty; it's just up here." Her dark eyes were almost as bright as the stars as she hurried toward the field, cheeks flushed and beaming. She was, truly, excited. It would be the first date she'd have with Lance that wasn't possibly going to be ruined by her family. She was so excited, she even forgot that there was one person who could possibly interrupt her happiness. Howl. But, she figured, deep down; certainly there would be enough people, other people, who weren't HER, to entertain him. They reached the field and she looked up at the sky, not looking too closely at anyone else around; this was probably why she didn't notice that the little boy a ways away was Dimitri, and the little girl storming over to him was Katia.

It had taken a full ten minutes to convince Balto to get into the backpack. When he finally did, he barely peeked out of the bag that Dimitri was carryign him in. As far as he was concerned, the white stuff was worse than the devil incarnate. Dimitri didn't know what it could do! Surely, he'd never had it make him slide into a pile of the 'snow'! Dimitri would have probably been just as firghtened as he'd been otherwise! "Rrrrrr..." Still, he trusted Dimitri to keep him safe.
It occurred to the shadow that he'd never been this far away from the laundromat before. it was because of this that the shadow began taking in the sights around him - there were so many more people here! It had only been him back at the laundromat, but out here...out here, everything was so much more crowded. "Rrrrr?" Perhaps this WOULD be an interesting experience. Was it just him though, or was there a girl storming over towards them?
Lance grinned as Kali tugged him towards the field, chuckling a bit. "I'm coming, I'm coming - I'm sure that all the good spots won't have been taken already." Honestly, the black-haired boy didn't have a problem with this - it had been a little while since the two of them had managed to get some time alone together. Hopefully, her cousins wouldn't show up to ruin it - he didn't mind the kid, but really, he would take being alone with her over them running around the two of them any day. It was just...overall more enjoyable.
Unbeknownst to Lance, a certain shadow had followed him out to the field. Cain, in hopes of finding Luka with Kali, and tagged along. Unfortunately, he'd yet to see the other shadow yet, which was a fair disappointment to him. Perhaps he was jsut somewhere else in the field though. Deciding that this may be the case, he zipped off through a patch of long grass in search of his friend. Hopefully, Charlie would be too preoccupied with his friend to notice that Cain was missing.

Xanatos was in the process of feeding his First-Mate when the invitation arrived - if by arrived, one meant "fell randomly out of the cheesypoof bag as he was pouring it into Cuppy's mouth". He'd taken to just opening and pouring in the food for her, as otherwise, she tended to just eat the bag and that wasn't good for the little shadow, he was sure. Notes were also not good for her, so the boy had to very quickly grab and extract the item from her mouth, receiving a bit of a nibble from her front teeth for his troubles.
"Ow, Cuppy, y'gotta lemme read things." he said, shaking the note out and reading it over. Ooooookie doke, no name, no return address, just instructions. SURE, WHY NOT? He was a pirate, after all! An airship pirate! Why not have a bit of adventure? Well, Taft was in bed, and Potsnpans would be useless, but hey, Cuppy'd be up for it, right?
The boy looked down at his companion, "Hey Cuppy, ch'wanna'g'somewhere?" he asked, looking at the note in different ways before deciding to let her eat it as a bribe to get the Shadow to behave and be in the mood to go out without whining - bribing your First-Mate was important in these situations. The Shadow barely had time to grab the sheet with her teeny hands before she was chittering and nodding happily - out and snack, yay!
Soon enough the boy arrived, carrying the antlered shadow under his arm and was promptly very confused. Random field full of children, what? Okay then!
"Allo all!" he called out pleasantly, completely shattering the calm and silence that was barely settled over the area, and probably startling everyone present.

[Playing Riina as a child since this is the first ORP toward her Child to Teen growth]
Faeriina Xunaere brushed strands of her hair back and sighed. She had been surprised to find an invitation resting on her pillow, as if it had been placed there by a delicate hand. It had been a little annoying as well since she was certain that she had been successful with the warding spell on her room. Her mother was letting her study magic now that she had started to get older, but it was harder than she had thought it would be. With a grin she ran after her little brother, chasing after him to make sure that he didn't get lost.
Hunter trailed along beside Riina, a grin nearly splitting his face in half. He had never been out without his parents before, and it was exciting. Of course he had his older sister, but it was a very different experience than he was used to. There were quite a few children starting to gather, but only one stood out to him. It was Howl. Even though the blonde was older than he was, Hunter was rather fond of the wizard. Breaking into a run he made a beeline for the boy.
"Hi Howl."
Riina frowned at her brother, but smiled at Howl as she finally caught up. "I take it the invitations were from you?"

Puff appeared in the distance, flittering and flutter--dragons didn't flutter. It seemed the dragon-like shadow was still having trouble flying, but it wasn't from lack of trying. He found himself a top Kali's head, and appeared quite content to stay there. "Pu!" he said cheerfully, before his tail twitched angrily as he caught sight of Lance. So this was why Kali wasn't playing with his host! How dare she bring another male? He gave the redhead an angry trill to express his feelings.
"Uff," he said in Lance's direction with clear dislike. It might have been the dark that was upsetting the usually cheerful shadow--or it might have been actual concern for his host. Why was the wizard talking to that bright light?
Why did that bright light talk, anyway?
Kali needn't have worried about Howl interrupting her date, however. The boy had been busy plotting with his firedemon until he heard Hunter's greeting. He ruffled his friend's hair. "Hey Hunter," he said with a smile. "Come to see the stars? It should be eventful." He paused and looked to Faeriina. "Yeah, they were from me. Did you like them?" He always liked being complimented on his work.
He looked up and sent Kali a slightly wistful look; his apprentice hadn't even come over to say hello. And she was with that... Lance boy. He frowned in disapproval. Pulling his jacket around him, he made his way over to Kali. "You didn't come to say hello," he said huffily, clearly hurt by this. "Why?"
He turned half way to wave at Xanny. "Hey!" He greeted, before turning back to Kali and crossing his arms.

A ragdoll child walked towards the field, three shadows with her. The reason Lilium was with the toddler was because Anya had a job and she was driving Louie insane. Not something one should do wisely. Even shadows.
Altressa walked creeping beside the child, looking annoyed at having to walk in the snow. Why couldn't she perch on Eve's head like Herion got to? Didn't the toddler know that it was very cold to walk in the snow? She wished Kalia was with her instead of the annoying smart toddler. The shadow was starting to really dislike the little girl.
Lilium was fine with the snow, in fact, she was busy throwing snowballs at the shadow perched on Eve's head. Herion was glaring at the other shadow, starting to get fed up with Lilium's antics. Didn't she understand that this evening was important to Eve? He wished she would stop throwing snowballs.
Eve didn't pay any mind to any of the shadows, even Herion. She was too excited about seeing the stars. She had already gotten Damin's permission to come on her own as long as she came home right after the shower was over. She had been trying to paint the stars, but found it vexing that she couldn't. At least she would be able to sit down and watch something interesting. She looked for a spot to lay down one of the blankets rolled up under her arm. The other blanket was if the cold got too much for her.

Kali looked up as Puff flew over, only slightly disappointed as he landed. "Oh..Hello, Puff." She giggled, reaching up to pat his head. He was obviously angry about something, and as he 'uff'ed at Lance, she saw what it was. She couldn't help but roll her eyes.
"Puff, this is Lance. And you're going to be nice, or I'll stick you in a jar." Reaching up, she detatched him from her head, and held him out in front of him like one would a puppy, or a teddy.
Of course, it wasn't long after Puff came that Howl followed. "No need for the huff, Howl." She grinned, setting Puff back on her shoulder and looking down at him. "We just got here. I couldn't help but look around...It's so pretty." She smiled at him, hoping it would appease him; and make him go away. Not that she didn't like Howl. She adored him. But she really did want to spend some time with Lance... "Thank you for inviting me. But shouldn't you go greet some of your other guests? I think some of them seem a bit confused." She giggled. "And surely everyone will want to talk to an amazing wizard like you."
Dimitri turned as Balto seemed to see something, looking behind himself to see what it was. He was very, VERY dismayed to see that it was Katia.
"You're in TROUBLE." She said, almost triumphantly, pointing one thin finger at him. He gaped, stuttering for words, and finally growled. "Well, you're not supposed to be out of bed EITHER." He accused. She blinked; oh, apparently she hadn't THOUGHT of that. It took only a moment for the horrified expression to settle on her face.
Luka looked down at Katia and then out again, at the crowd that was gathering. He saw a bunch of kids they had met; but nobody he specifically wanted to spend time with. There was Puff. but he was with Kali, and if he went over there, he'd get in trouble. He noticed that there was a Shadow peeking out of Dimitri's bag...when had a Shadow gotten into Dimitri's ba- These thoughts quickly disappeared as he spotted something fluttering through the air. Cain! Trilling, he launched off of Katia's head and over to him, tackling him out of the air as per their usual greeting. It was so good that he was here! Luka snuggled him then pulled away, beaming. This night had just gotten so much better.

And then more people approached them - more sepcifically, a young-looking boy and a shadow that kind of looked like a dragon. Lance tried not to become irked as the little creature gave him a disaproving look - really, did he look like THAT bad of a guy? - while the boy demanded to know why she hadn't come to say hello. Was a little time alone with his girlfriend really that much to ask for? Really? Still, the gothic teen forced himself to smile at both the irritated shadow and the blond boy. "And who're these two then?" God DAMN IT, what was with these kids and shadows and trying to interfere with his dates? Did they all just have some kind of club? The 'ruin Lance McCoy's dates' club or something? If there was, it was REALLY starting to make him dislike kids. A lot. "Puff and Howl, I think I heard Kali say; am I right?"
Not sure of who these people were, Balto ducked down into Dimitri's backpack, not wanting to me seen. This was the first time he'd seen a person other than the boy, and this blond girl certainly did not seem to be friendly in the slightest bit. Perhaps it would be bed if he stayed hidden until she left. Besides, it was warmer down in the bag, and he was certain that the snow wouldn't be able to get him in the backpack. It was currently like his little, moveable fortress.
Cain barely had time to react as a familiar form slammed into him, sending him spinning through the air and across the grassy ground. The little shadow chirped happily and hugged his friend back, rolling back and forth with Luka on the ground. It was true then - Luka HAD been out here! Then Cain's search hadn't been in vain! "Vi, vim!" Which meant that the two of them could watch these 'falling stars' that he'd heard Lance talking about! How exciting!
Nearby, another familiar shape shadow stood with a dark-skinned young woman - or, at least, she would be familiar to Luka and Puff. Little Alice twirled beside Adalia, who was currently trying to get her camera ready for when the stars would begin falling. It would make for a rather beautiful shot - Adalia just had to get everything ready! Alice, however, could only keep herself entertained for so long without her precious mirror - the little shadow soon found that she wanted something to do, and - if it were at all possible - someone to do it with. "Lice!" Her eyes lit up as she spotted the familiar form of Puff floating over by that redheaded friend of Adalia's, Kali, some black-haired teenager, and a blond wiazrd. Without bothering to ask for permission, the little shadow girl skipped over, Cheshire following after her with his usual toothy grin. "Ali!" she chirped towards the dragon-like shadow, hoping to get his attention.

Xanny looked around at the group slowly. Besides that blonde boy, no one seemed to have noticed him - not that they should have, since he was kind of the 'new kid' and everyone else seemed to know each other. However, it did seem a lot of them had little companions like his, so maybe that's what this was really for and maybe the invitation had been intended for Cuppy, not him? Setting her down, he nudged the little shadow forward.
"Go see if you can make some lil dark blobby friends, Cuppy." he suggested, before walking forward a bit himself so he was closer to the main group of kids.
"So, issis a lil blobby thing gatherin or a private par'y or summat 'n I'm just crashin?" he asked whoever was nearest, a girl who looked like she was made of patches or something, his tone cheery and expression jovial.

Eve was smoothing out the blanket, laid out on a nice spot with a perfect view of the stars. She turned towards the owner of the voice that addressed her. "It's a party for watching stars and last I checked nearly everyone got an invite."
Her eyes went to Cuppy, her shadow glancing at the other shadow. Though Eve's gaze had been curious, Herion stared at Cuppy like she was a threat to his host.
Eve smiled after grabbed Herion's arm and held him, refusing to let him try to make the other shadow afraid of him. She was sure he thought he was protecting her, but it was rather annoying when he scared off others that she might actually make friends with.
Altressa was wondering around with Lilium at her side. The jellyfish shadow smiled when she saw Puff, but decided to not bother him. Lilium on the other hand had a different idea. Throw snowballs at everyone around her, that was if Altressa stopped taking her snowballs away.

Puff certainly did not want to end up in a jar; and he wanted to stay on Kali's good side too. He sighed. That meant he would have to be nice to Lance. He stuck out a hand to the gothic boy and smiled. "Pu?" he offered. He was quite literally extending a hand of friendship out to the teenager.
Howl gave Kali a suspicious look. Was she trying to get rid of him? That was fine with him, he could take a hint. He gave her a brief hug around the waist and flashed her a smile. "Of course. Who wouldn't want to talk to me?" He glanced over at Lance and gave him a smile too.
"That's right. I'm Howl. I assume you're Lance. Nice to meet you," he added, as if it was something extremely unpleasant. Like finding a slug in his bedroom. He shuddered inwardly at the thought.
