His parents were going out, Myrtle was taking off to see her family for the day, Felicia was needed at her house, and Christopher had called in his well-earned vacation. That left "11-year-old" Tobias by himself, which was unacceptable no matter how much Edgar insisted that it was. Melinda figured her husband secretly wished the demonic child would get himself killed or something... Edgar had always had an extreme hatred for demons. Perhaps she should have read the damn paperwork more closely when she adopted Tobias. If she had realized what he was, she wouldn't have brought him anywhere near the house.
And so the couple debated for hours on the previous day about how they were going to get away without bringing Tobias along to a rather important party that Edgar's boss was putting on. Myrtle politely interrupted with a flier the school had sent in the mail that day, one that was offering babysitting services. They jumped on the chance.
Tobias was told to wait on the front porch for the babysitter to arrive, and that he was not to enter the main house at any cost. They had made sure to stock up the guest house with food and any other necessities he should need, just to make that even more clear. And so the boy was indeed sitting on the front porch, wrapped up in a blanket since it was a bit nippy out. He stared out at the driveway with blank eyes, not really looking at anything in particular. Since his little incident with his father, the will to really do much of anything other than exist had seemingly been drained from him. He just half hoped it would come back some day.

Making her way to the address of the house of the child she was supposed to be babysitting, though judging from the tone of the woman on the phone the child in question was going to be a handful. Arriving at the mansion, she stops several feet away from the front porch, her eyes widening a little when she sees a boy, a meta, sitting on it. "Hey there, are you Tobias?" Moira asked curiously as she walked closer, keeping her wings tucked to her back under a coat seeing as the place was a ways away from the Academy grounds.
Looking around quickly, she took a quick survey of the area, wanting to make sure that no humans were around, knowing that they tended to freak at anything 'not normal', including a person with wings. Taking off her coat, she offered it to the boy, "You look a little cold." She says softly, smiling gently.

Tobias was pulled out of his state of simple existence when Moira suddenly appeared in his line of vision. He blinked a few times and looked her over with a bit of a frown. "Yes, I'm Tobias." He answered without moving. He stared at the coat, and shrugged. "I got my blanket." He stood up, and pulled the blanket around himself a little tighter. "Mother 'n Father said I'm not allowed in the main house, so we gotta go the guest one." He started off to the left side of the house, not really caring if she followed or not. Chances were, with those feathered wings, they wouldn't care if she went into the house or not.

Nodding a little, when she noticed the blanket, though she tried her best to not make a face at the mention of the boys parents not allowing him into the main house. Following the boy, Moira sighed softly, glancing at the Mansion before following him, "I know what it feels like to not be loved by your parents." She states, hoping that it'd help the boy open up to her a little more. Sure, she didn't really like telling people that she was ignored by her parents now, it seemed like Tobias needed to know that there were others out there like himself.

He stopped for a moment, and swore he could feel the hairs on the back of his neck bristling up. Somehow, this lady had managed to make him feel angry again even though she'd only been around for a few minutes. "Who said they hate me? I could not be allowed in the house for my own safety, or maybe there are people inside that are redecorating. Don't assume things just because your parents didn't love you." He cast an icy glare over his shoulder and then trudged forward at a faster pace. Once he reached the house, he pushed the door open and then tossed the blanket off to the side before stomping up the stairs.
"You're not allowed in my room." The sound of a door slamming echoed from the upper floor a few seconds later. Once inside, he sat down on the bed and felt whatever anger he had left dissipate, and hugged himself as it was replaced by an ache. Knowing that someone else was in his same situation didn't help at all, in fact, it only made him lose hope of ever being accepted.

'Ookay, so he is a handful. Great, at least I know what I'm working with now...' Moira thought to herself before letting out a quiet sigh as they entered the guest room, only watching the boy walk up the steps, slamming the door seconds later. Shaking her head, the girl looked around and started to explore the guest house, her curiosity still as keen as ever. "There's always a reason why someone is ignored.. at least from what I've gathered.." She murmured, skimming the titles of books on the bookshelf.
Wings twitching slightly as her deep purple eyes moved from binding to binding, a thin frown formed on her lips as she noticed a trend in the books. Even though it was a guest house, all the books seemed to be of religious origin.

A few minutes later, Tobias noted a definite hunger in his gut. And so he slid off of the bed and headed down the stairs again. "I hope you know how to cook." He stood in the hallway, staring at her while she examined the books. "What're you looking at? Those are my Father's. He said to only read the ones on the bottom shelves, so don't touch those ones." He nodded at the books that she was looking at.
The books that he was allowed to read were all typical religious books, the bible was amongst them, along with a few mythology books that were not exactly geared toward education, but rather toward the biases of the authors themselves. Tobias had opened a few, but shut them after the first few words, they made him sick.

"I can cook and I just wanted to see what type of books are here...judging from the books they read he seems to be one of the religious fools who thinks Angels are all kind and Demons are all evil?" Moira scoffs before shaking her head, turning to look at the boy, "Is there anything in particular that you'd like to have?" She asks with a soft smile, her wings moving a little, showing off the claw on what could be considered the 'thumb' area of her wings.
While she may be half-angel, that also meant she was half-demon.

"Don't insult my Father, it's his money that they're going to pay you with." A frown appeared on his face immediately. "I want chicken noodle soup. With biscuits." He added a moment later after some thought. He noted the claw on her wings, but didn't particularly piece it together in his head that she may not be entirely angelic. Cambria had mentioned a boy with leathery wings that had feathers, but not a girl with feathery wings that had claws.

The girl was still smiling, not even going to 'fight' with the boy about how she wasn't insulting his father but anyone who thought all angels were good. "Alright.. would you be a dear and show me to the kitchen in here? Maybe I'll also make you some brownies." She chuckles, hoping brownies would help the boy cheer up. Brownies did wonders for other people, why not this boy?

"This way." Tobias moved past her in the hallway and then turned into a larger room with a small kitchen and dining area combined in it. "Myrtle brought out food, so there should be enough to make brownies if you want. I'm not supposed to have a lot of sweets though. Mother says it's bad for my health." Tobias shrugged a little. In truth, he only actually got desert if he'd been good, and well.. he had rarely been good.

"And yet chocolate is seen to help calm and relax people and I think you should get some home made brownies." Moira chuckles to herself as she pulls her hair into a messy bun and rolls up her sleeves before washing her hands, "This might take awhile.." She murmurs as she makes her way around the kitchen and grabs what she needs, some items floating around her as she walked about, a Habit she had picked up rather quickly now that she could do it.

Tobias started to say something, but stopped when he noticed the things floating around as Moira moved about the kitchen. His eyes narrowed, and then he made a motion to snatch one of the items just to see if anything happened. If she could really move them herself, she'd probably notice one of the pots getting snatched away from her.

"Unless you want that pot to fall on your head, I'd rather you not do that.." She snaps, but in a kind tone, one to let him know that she wasn't going to be all fuzzy bunnies around him, she had some fight to her. Digging through the fridge, she pulled out some chicken, stock and the items needed for a mirepoix. "Alright.. now would you like to help me make this?"

"You can do this too?" He opted to set the pot down on the counter and then pull over a stool to sit on. "I never cooked before. Not allowed in the kitchen. Myrtle says kids just get in the way of cookin'." He shrugged his shoulders again and watched what she was doing. "If you can lift things, how come you use your voice?"
