'I am very hungry mine!' warbled Aerith plaintively as they made their way down to the kitchens which was the closest source of food for the little dragon at the moment.

"I know you are, we'll get you something to eat soon" Mercy assured the white dragonet, Aerith was always hungry it seemed, she ate far less per meal then her cluchmates did Mercy had noticed but as such wanted said meals more often. Mercy didn't mind, she'd do anything for Aerith but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't tired too - and it had only been a couple of days! Though to be honest these couple days had been the very best of Mercys life so far - tired or not.

Aerith had grown accustomed to wearing the odd little sweater/blanket contraption Mercy had made for her and at least didn't complain about being cold so much anymore, even if she did still look a bit silly wearing the dragonet equivalent of clothing - something the other hatchlings didn't have much of a need for thankfully as they were rather hard to make and seemed to get caught on everything if Mercy didn't think it truly helped Aerith stay warm she'd likely have done away with it as more trouble then it was worth by now.

'Are we close mine?'Aerith asked again, wobbling a bit "Very close" Mercy told her, glancing down to see the wobble clear signs Aerith was getting tired, bending down she scooped the little white into her arms "Come on, I'll carry you the rest of the way"

'Tell him it keeps me quite warm!' Aerith insisted while she regarded the person who had appeared from around the corner and crooned a pleasant sounding welcome to him as was the only proper thing to do when someone greeted you.

Mercy on the other hand, flushed a bit at the comment despite Aerith's round about support of it. "Most don't" She admitted with a slightly embarrassed chuckle "But Aerith was having troubles keeping warm, her hides not yet capable of keeping out the chill I suppose" she said in an attempt to explain such an odd occurrence. The other hatchlings didn't seem to have as much trouble, but then they were all quite a bit bigger then Aerith.

'I will not need it forever mine, I will grow big and strong' Aerith assured her rider in a decisive sounding tone to keep Mercy from worrying overly much and Mercy rubbed her headknobs in thanks as she brought herself back to the current conversation "She says it helps" She told him with a smile

Mercy nodded slightly at his question "Was a bit of trouble really...designing it to keep her wing and feet free, but my mother was a fair hand at sewing and taught me a few things when I was younger" She admitted "Though I'm sure there are others at the weyr who could have done it a good bit better I suppose the important thing is that is work right?" She concluded with a smile smile

Of course at his comments about food Aerith took notice 'I am still hungry mine' she piped up, eyes wheeling with a tinge of hungry red as he looked towards the kitchen and the food she could smell coming from within. Mercy took her response to mean she didn't mind if their new companion accompanied them for a time "That would be nice" She told him, she'd barely had time to talk to people since the feast, Aeriths care had - rightfully - become foremost in her days. It would be nice to have someone to chat with for a bit. "We haven't had much company the last couple days" he told him with a smile

"It was like that the first time I stood," Mercy admitted as they headed into the kitchens "I arrived right before touching and they kept us all so busy with lessons and chores..and then just learning my way around this place, there just didn't seem to be much time for making friends until afterwards," Well she had met a few people before of course..but not nearly as many as she was used to knowing.

'you will never feel alone now mine' Aerith crooned lovingly as she caught mercy's thoughts 'We have each other and we shall make many friends as I grow' She continued in her cheery tone..which transitioned well into the pure joy she exuded once she caught the scent of the meat in the kitchens 'food!' And she squirmed to get down before wobbling towards the nearest person and attempted to beg a snack from them. Which being so tiny and cute was a skill she was pretty darn good at.

Mercy laughed slightly even as she mentally agreed with everything Aerith had said and remarked to Shedrawn with amusement"She definitely knows how to get what she wants"

Aerith indeed had learned rather quickly that looking at people in a pitiful fashion and crooning generally got her a goodly portion of the better meat cuts. Mercy couldn't blame them really - I mean who could hold anything back from sweet little Aerith! Of course she might be just a teeny tiny bit biased...

'I am socializing mine! They like my attention' Aerith protested as she caught wind of Mercy's thoughts 'you are begging...but I can't blame them for soaking it up anyways' Mercy corrected with a look of amusement in Aerith's Direction.

Of course she was surprised when Shedrawn returned with the bubbly pie "Oh my! How did you manage to get a hold of that" She exclaimed in delight "Normally Aerith is the only one who gets the treats around here" She continued with a slight laugh while accepting the proffered half. "Thank you!"

"Ah flattery... the way to any cooks heart" She joked with him as she took a bite of the pie, it was..as she had known it would be..quite delicious. "Though in this case the flattery was well deserved I think" She continued as she took another bite.

'They have very good food here' Aerith relayed as she wobbled over stuffed absolutely full from the tidbits she'd gotten. 'That they do love' Mercy agreed as she found a place to sit down while Aerith stretched out in a patch of sun coming through from the entrance, no one seemed to particularly mind walking around her so Mercy let her be for now and turned her attention to Shedrawn "Are you planning to stay? try for the next hatching?" She asked him - lots of Candidates wound up giving up and going home after they failed the first time - why she herself had thought about it a little bit before deciding to stay.

"Well thats good! I know some leave after failing to impress the first time around but then I think what if I would have left after that first time? Poor Aerith would have been left alone on the sands and that would have been awful..and believe it or not the time between hatchings might seem like it's quite a while, but it goes by pretty fast" She told him with a smile.

"Were you a harper apprentice before coming here then? I was studying to be a healer myself" She continued in an attempt to get to know him a bit better while Aerith snoozed nearby, sleepy from her fully stomach.

Aerith turned her head to watch them as they talked, crooning lightly as he played the music almost as though she had decided to sing along with the tune with half lidded sleepy eyes. 'The music is nice and the sun is warm' She told Mercy in a sleepy voice.

"Thats a very pretty tune, Aerith likes it as well" She told Shedrawn once he'd finished playing "Is it one you learned or wrote?" She asked with interest. She'd always imagined that coming up with such tunes would be a great deal of work and honestly couldn't really fathom how one would even go about doing it - but that was likely just her lack of musical talent showing through. Perhaps it came naturally to those gifted with it.
