~::Hidden Path::~ ~::Underground, Near the Outskirts of the Embryon Base::~
Unknown to all but the inner circle of the Lord General of Embryon, there is a hidden tunnel beneath the newly-erected Embryon base which leads from beneath Balmung's office to the outskirts of the base and the very border of the Inaba Lockdown. It has remained sealed at all times until tonight; now the path has been opened, but its purpose revealed to only a select few.
The day of that purpose is come...but can it be a total coincidence that this day coincides with the arrival of the Devil Kings and everything else going on throughout the town? Tonight, many questions will receive their answers...

Ryofu the Dragon
It seemed almost strange, actually... That Ryofu could move somewhere quietly. To those who were familiar with her Atma transformation, which was about as subtle as a kiloton-range bomb, simply... walking somewhere was almost weird. On the other hand, when her virus wasn't active, Ryofu was a girl... and surprisingly light. More to the point, a note from a certain somebody had requested her presence, and there was no chance at all that she was going to ignore that kind of thing. Even if it was some kind of a fake, Ryofu wasn't exactly vulnerable. Still, though, what was the purpose of being called out here, and told to bring her belongings? Which, besides her usual equipment and her clothes, was really nothing. The Dragon didn't have any particular fondness for most material things, since they were A) Regularly lost in the course of operations, and B) Easily replaced. Well, a bit less easily than usual in a town with these kinds of problems, but... hey, that was the way it went, yeah?

Captain Naniyori, Asura of Spirits
"Ryofu, my darling! I always knew you wanted to have a wild fling with me, but I never expected you to confess the good old fashion way. Y-you were the one sent the note, right?" Naniyori stroked his hair backwards to give the petite girl a good view of the handsome face she must have come to admire, then ended it with a smile to show off those pearly whites. "Well if you're really that interested that you had to call me out here, why don't we just cut right to the chase, hm? I mean, I've got a girlfriend, but if you were to force yourself on me now that you had me all alone I'd simply be unable to resist. It's not my fault if you use that powerful body of yours to ravish me against my will..." Naniyori shrugged, clearly making the nature of his 'resistance' questionable at best. But then, who was he to fight it if women wanted his body, right? I mean there was that one time with that Ria, woohoahoah...and she was touching his body in all kinds of places. With a sword.

The Fire Brand, Haoul YamakajiOh Great....Him Haoul's first thoughts were, as he noticed an all too familiar shade of green stood, with his usual incoherent ramblings and come ons to someone. Had this happened a few days earlier, Haoul might have made some comment to him, but today..... Haoul wasn't feeling it. "So....I take it you two didn't send it to me, did you?" he called sharply to the two, seeming a bit out of it. Too much had happened. The question was, what was about to happen now? Haoul almost didn't want to find out. It didn't seem good, if anything. I mean, a secret area? For this? The only thing he'd brought with him was his locket, it being the only remnant of importance to him. But...why did he have to bring it in the first place?

Sayuri Zetsumei
Coming here was rather sudden and quick for the girl, but it had to be something urgent if Balmung wanted them to bring things precious to them. The only real precious thing she had to herself was a picture of her family and well, Tsurugi. She wondered though if she could really bring him either way if he wasn't asked to come to such a place as well though. Besides those items she had brought along some clothes and her swords too. Those were probably some other things she couldn't leave without, especially since swords were part of her protection. She would probably be screwed with or without them, but then again she had her atma for too anyway. She never really had a chance to use it so far...And she hoped it would stay that way. She looked around to the few already gathered here, but she only questioned on tonights purpose. She felt nervous, but it wasn't because of the fact that Balmung would be here, but because something was going to happen. She just knew it in her gut, but she hoped it wasn't true. The girl just waited idly though as others were to soon arrive, and for Balmung to arrive as well.

Ryofu the Dragon
Ryofu held up the note she'd gotten, which had been pretty obviously signed by the sender. The expression on her face was quite sufficient to denote what she thought of small-time islanders who apparently couldn't even read. Why couldn't they just be civilized, like on the mainland? Ah, but not Balmung, of course! He was civilized enough for a whole country all by himself! Squee! >.< "Don't you think you should be a little more concerned about what's going on here? A bunch of wannabe warlord reincarnations show up and then we're just coincidentally called down here at this time?" Ryofu laughed at the little islanders and their notions of nation-conquering. Warring States era? Hah! Japan was small, after all, and divided into such tiny areas. Still, though. A modicum of concern might have helped. This was why she didn't like Naniyori very much; he seemed like the sort who figured he could get away with behaving however he wanted. Just like that Yang (Yin, Yang, whatever) guy she'd heard was blacklisted, but with more power to start with. The other one, Haoul, she hadn't even talked to all that much. Nor the other girl. Who had better stay away from Balmung. Grr!

Lieutenant Kabuto "Bolt" Kirisaki"Psst! Hey!" a hushed, familiar voice pierced the eerie stillness of the tunnel from further down the dark corridor, "Be quiet and come this way! Hurry!" There was a clear sense of urgency in the voice on the far side of the tunnel, which seemed to be getting a little quieter as it went, perhaps a sign that whoever it was wasn't wasting time waiting on them to catch up before moving further down the rabbit hole himself. Despite the blackness of the hidden tunnel, there were small lights every so often to lead you on towards wherever it ended...though its exit near the edge of the lockdown was currently known only to the highest brass within the organization. Which meant that it had to have been Balmung who invited them here...no one else was even aware of the tunnel's purpose or existence. Despite that, the voice that urged them on did not belong to the Lord General of Embryon, but rather one of his more trusted subordinates within the organization. It was the one who had been with him during the raid on Strega, he of the Menace Eyes, Kabuto Kirisaki...or in this case, their designated guide.
"We need to get to the end of this tunnel fast!" the Lieutenant added, his voice distant now, as though he were breaking out into a light jog...perhaps an indication that they were to do the same, "you'll be briefed when we get there! But for now, just keep moving!" As if to emphasize the point, footsteps could be heard picking up in the distance of the tunnel, winding through the corridors towards the end of the path. It wasn't an exceptionally long tunnel, so it wouldn't take long to get to the destination...in fact, at the rate Kabuto was going, they would be there before they knew it.

Ryofu the Dragon
What? It wasn't Balmung here to greet them? Tch. That was kind of irritating, especially when she would have to put up with this one instead. Didn't the Japanese have a social stigma against cowardice? Grr. On the other hand, this was probably the one person on the planet least likely to willingly head towards something even faintly dangerous, so she could figure either no problem or a trap for wherever he was planning to go... and with a shrug, Ryofu followed after him. What was all of this about?

A rather irate looking looking Ari entered the cramped hidden space just as Lieutenant Kirisaki urgently beckoned the other Embryon members forward. Immediately shifting her demeanor from the irrational anger she had displayed prior to a tense seriousness, she followed, not at all sure of what was going on and definitely confused as to why she had been called here. Of course, that was a silly question. If she had taken one moment to even 'kind of' glance around the room, Naniyori's presence would have become apparent, and with that, her reason for being among them. Ever the reckless little soldier, however, Ari had no time for looking nor time for thinking. Just marching. And so, looking very much like a small child playing with her father's war uniform, she did just that and marched forward in a clumsy but rigid trot; the feigned stoic attitude straining her childlike features. It was best not to wonder about their current situation. ''Bolt,'' as they called him had said that he would tell them what was going on later. All that would result from wondering is panic, and 'hoo boy, Ari did not need to be in a state of panic. It takes all of her (limited) self-control just to keep her mouth from blurting out obscenities at everything that goes bump. Panic does not sit well with someone like that.

D E A D P O O L Hidden tunnels, a secret message; this was way to out of the ordinary which meant that this was right up Deadpool's alley. Though he was quite disappointed in coming here, he was just trying to teach Kittypool how to use a little combat knife with its teeth, but noooo he had to come over in this dark damped tunnel of doom. The masked embryon looked around towarsd the other familiar Embryons, one of them was his sister Sayuri and the other was Naniyori, "A good damn drinking partner I might add" Now the only question was, why in the hell are they here? Was it to throw a suprise birthday party for Balmung. Deadpool's eyes widened at the thought. "Holy crap that must be it!...didn't even give him a present" he soon lowered his head in sadness but soon shrugged it off, "Oh well! I'll just do the next best thing! I'll put Him and Sayuri on a date! Then he'll be happy She'll be happy and I'll get a all expense paid trip to fiji." The thought made the crazed man so happy that he started to do a little dance while repeatedly chanting "I am going to fiji! I am going to fiji!~" With all the fun and games put to the side for now, "Give it about an hour or so then we can party again There was a familiar voice going through the silence of the tunnel, looking over to the voice direction he caught notice that the voice belonged to Kabuto Kirisaki, otherwise know as Bolt. Who...?" His name is Kabuto Kirisaki "But I don't know hwo the heck he is.." "Well apprently you do now shut the hell up!" Anyways, hearing what he had to do Deadpool continued along the path of where he thought the voice was coming from. He was making quite haste to get to the place for debriefing, or partying it up for Balmung. Either way he grew more and mroe interested. .

Lieutenant Kabuto "Bolt" KirisakiKabuto didn't seem all that interested in waiting to count how many were behind him, nor did he bother with asking all of their names to make sure they were who was supposed to be here. Once he started jogging towards the end of the tunnel he was in his zone, moving swiftly through the path towards the little lights in the distance which lead them ever-closer to whatever lay at the end for all of them. His feet were as swift as ever, his eyes sharp as he lead the team of high-powered Embryons towards their destination...and while there were probably questions that they all had to ask of him, they would have to wait until they reached it. Which wasn't going to be much longer, apparently, as their rush brought them closer and closer, until a door appeared at last in front of the headband-wearing Lieutenant which bore the insignia of Balmung's Atma Brand carved into its face. It was a symbol that this was a secret only he was aware of...something even the heads of the Embryon back in Central probably weren't aware of...and now, without hesitation (and much haste), Kabuto opened the door and motioned for the rest of the people following him to file through. He bounced from foot-to-foot, impatient as he waited for them to get past the hidden door. And then, once they had all gone by, he slipped to the far side of it and closed it, muttering a few words as he locked it so that anybody who might get lucky and find the path would still find it impossible to get through.
Turning from the door, finally, he saw the same view that the rest of the team that had come with him would see; first long, overgrown strings of weed and leaves, tucked nearly into a hillside on the outskirts of Inaba just inside of the lockdown...the leaves and weeds hid the door in against the far side of the rarely-visited area of town...and once he had brushed the leaves aside and took a few steps further, the real sight came into view. It was the town...a very slim view of it between two hills leading towards the exit not all that far from the Embryon Base...but Kabuto's eyes didn't focus on the town itself as much as they did the moon above them. Looking borderline frantic, he glanced down at his watch with a nervous expression that could not conceal the other emotion that seemed to lie just beneath the surface...a painful feeling that he couldn't help in spite of himself...it was guilt. "Oh s**t, it's almost Midnight," he muttered darkly, tucking his hands swiftly back into his pockets as he darted a short distance from the exit and tucked himself in a silly spy-like stance behind a tree, peeking back towards the group long enough to motion for them to join him on that side of the foliage before slipping back behind it once again, "oh man, oh man...where are you, big guy?"

The Fire Brand, Haoul YamakajiHaoul internally groaned as he followed the meek looking figure, noticing all of the others that were coming along as well. Some weirdo in spandex, some little girl, the newly promoted captian.... Honestly, he didn't know half of them. Following along, he paused as the meek lieutenant paused, and made a passing comment about the time. "Almost midnight?" he called, confused. "What's so bad about that?" He'd noticed some strange things happening at the night time, but nothing too weird. Though if the boy sounded this scared...

Captain Naniyori, Asura of Spirits
Well this was ertainly something. Naniyori knew about the path behind Balmung's room after all, but to think they would ever have to use it or introduce it to new people could mean only one thing, and that was something he was having a hard time wrapping his mind around. After all, it wasn't every day you used an escape tunnel to leave your own base..."Well look at it this way, if whatever's going to happen at midnight does come after us, we can just throw Haoul at it. Your good for making big fires and then petering out like a disappointment, right?" Not like Naniyori knew if he could do anything, since Kabuto wasn't speaking up though. You know, it was times like this where Naniyori shown the most. Everyone's coming together, there's someone they have to depend on to save their lives...he decides to kill them. In fact, he could probably poke a sword in Kabuto's back right now and everybody would probably start freaking out, and then Haoul'd try for revenge, he'd cut the tunnel walls and collapse it, then they'd all be helpless. Or, he could crush Kabuto's head, and then when Ryofu and Haoul reacted Ari would step in the way, and they'd hesitate...until Naniyori cut her down, striking through her and finishing it in one clean blow. Ahhh~, decisions, decisions. The green haired Brigadier General's face maintained passive all the while, but inside his heads whirls of merriment and slaughter danced through his head, probably sending a sttrrooong shiver down Kabuto's spine.

Lord General of Embryon - Balmung of the Azure Sky and Lieutenant Kabuto "Bolt" KirisakiIf Kabuto was nervous about something, he was getting increasingly more disturbed by the feelings that he received in waves from the red-haired Captain and his green-haired Brigadier General counterpart...those two were not nice people, the legendary escape artist (as he liked to think he was sometimes) thought to himself, their menacing aura as clear to him as day. Unfortunately for all of them, there were bigger fish to fry right now...and that Balmung wasn't here yet only continued to make the Lieutenant more and more nervous. He couldn't have been...could he? "Midnight? What's wrong...it's midnight!" the Lieutenant shot back almost incredulous, as thought Haoul should have known all along...which of course he shouldn't have, but Kabuto was nervous enough that he forgot he hadn't told them what this was all about yet. It was only after a few more seconds of glancing at the horrible sword-murderer making fun of Haoul nervously that he finally sighed, forcing himself to take a breath and close his eyes, trying to relax long enough that he could explain things to them. Fortunately, it was about that time a strong hand set itself on his shoulder and caught his attention, setting him at ease (mostly because if he hadn't sensed him coming, it meant that he was a friend...not an enemy...meaning it could only be one person). Glancing up to his side, sure enough, there stood the white-haired Lord General Balmung of the Azure Sky beside him. And the grim look on his face revealed that whatever concerns the Lieutenant had, they were likely just as severe as the others probably guessed.
"Everyone, I apologize for the urgency of this call...but there was no other way. I have news which all of you need to hear," he began sternly, eyes glancing from Naniyori to Haoul and to Sayuri, on whom he lingered for a moment before continuing on to the others and finally Ryofu, on whom he also lingered as he began to speak again, "Central and the Japanese Government have lost patience with us as a result of our failures. And as of this morning, we've all been declared traitors to the Emperor...fugitives from the law. The only reason we're standing here now is because Kabuto sensed the menace in the Devil Kings when they entered the town early this afternoon; judging by the track record of the Devil Kings prior to Inaba, it is most likely that they were sent here to eliminate us as we would any other threat to the government." Balmung took a moment to pause at that...allowing a moment for what he had told them to sink in before he would begin again. They had all dedicated their lives and loyalty to an ideal that had now been ripped away from them...the payment for their willingness to give their lives for justice being no more than the death they had all been so willing to bring others. It was...a heavy blow...and now, to know that wherever they went they would be hunted by others just like them was a weight that would be even harder to bear. It would be all he could do to protect them...if they even wanted his protection anymore...but he wouldn't just abandon them back at the base, nor could he let them split apart without offering them a choice.
"From this moment forward, we are enemies of the Embryon...enemies of Japan...which means that no matter where we go, the likes of the Crows and the Devil Kings will be forced to follow us. Fortunately, I can only guess that the Devil Kings aren't completely behind this, themselves...whether it's respect, pity, or sport, that is likely the only reason they're not here already. ...But whatever the case, from this moment forward, our lives, our very reason for living, must change. And what you choose to do with your life from now on is your own decision. Nobody else can tell you what to do with it...not even me," he told them sternly, drawing his weapon and jamming the large broadsword into the ground beside him as if to provide emphasis, "as for me...there is only one thing left for me. I intend to finish what I started and continue fighting injustice in this town until every last threat is eliminated. I don't need a government that I can now see is clearly corrupt to tell me that this town needs saving...and I'm not convinced anybody else is capable of doing so but us. Therefore...my decision is to remain here in this town, to remain hidden from unfriendly eyes, and to fight...and any of you who wish to join me are welcome to do just that."
Having finished what he had to say, the winged man pulled his sword form the ground and rested it upon his shoulder, turning away from the group and taking one large step in the direction of the outskirts of town...wherever his road would take him, he would use it and find somewhere to hole up and plan their next strategy. But he paused there, glancing over his shoulder towards the team one last time with his clear, intense eyes. "Your lives are your own now...but those of you who follow me, you will once again be pledging your life to our cause, and I will not allow anyone to back out once we begin to walk this path together. I will think no less of you if you wish to make what you can of life on your own...and if that is your decision, then I would like to say that it has been an honor...and farewell."
Having said his piece, the winged man turned finally away from the group which he had helped to escape and began walking. Where to one couldn't be certain...but those left behind had a choice ahead of them which would determine their fate for the rest of their time here in this town of Inaba. To run and take life on their own, facing hardships or avoiding them however they saw fit...or to follow the Lord General and serve alongside him once again until they had finished the fight.
It was time to choose...and there would be no turning back.Quote: You have come to an important decision...your choice may affect the future of not just yourself, but everyone else around you and the town itself. You feel as though once you have chosen, you cannot go back...
Make your decision...
-Continue following Balmung. -Go it alone.
