Thane walked home from his friends house, where he had been helping decorate for the holidays. All of the decorating and general good cheer had put him in a relaxed and appreciative mood. Taking a deep breath, Thane inhaled the varied scents of the night, especially the scent of a night during the Christmas season. Pine, woodsmoke, and the faint scent of baking filled his nostrils. As Thane walked, he summoned a small ball of flames to serve as a light and source of heat, for the night was cold and his breath formed a frosty cloud in the air. Turning the corner, Thane could see the ice pond in the distance, meaning he was only a short way from home. It also meant that his little ball of flame was his only source of light. Making the flame a bit bigger, Thane held it further in front of him to better light his way and saw something move ahead of him. Something small, with a flash of reflected red. Thane took another step. There was a sudden rustle and muffled crunching and Thane barely had time to register the shape as green with crazed red eyes before his instincts took over and he threw his little fireball at the creature. It squealed in pain as the fire singed one of its ears and a patch on its side....

The grunny seemed to gather itself for a moment before turning and hopping limply back into the bushes, Thane's next fireball missing by only a few inches. 'Takisir!' Thane swore, lapsing into his own language for a moment before carefully stepping forwards towards the bushes where the grunny had disappeared.

As Thane approached the bush the injured grunny was under, the grunny leaped out from a nearby bush, its eyes rolling crazily and glowing demonic red. Thane readied and threw yet another bit of fire, this one a flattened sphere The edges of the fiery disc hit hit the grunnies ears and the center continued on to hit its tail, setting its tail on fire.
Thane was starting to feel tired after that last fireball, as they took more and more energy to create, the colder it got.

It was the next day before Thane found out what infected grunnies were doing running around gaia AGAIN. Apparently, there had been some big to-do up at Gambino's mansion and shortly after that, the grunnies were seen.
'And if infected Grunnies are running around, that means the Labtechs that infected the grunnies are around as well....' Thane thought to himself and groaned. "Looks like I'll need to get out the weapons stash again, Pips." Pips, the outlaw wolf that he had raised from a puppy, growled menacingly. "I know. I know...." Thane's voice trailed off as he rummaged through his weapon stash.

Later on that day, Thane was taking Pips on a shopping trip to a nearby town. Thane had just crossed into the town boundaries when he heard a squeaking noise coming from his left. As Thane turned, he realized it was NOT a grunny...it was a Labtech.

Pips growled menacingly and snapped his teeth at the Labtech, as Thane flicked a previously hidden throwing knife at the corrupted scientist.

The Labtech yanked the throwing knife out of his shoulder and threw a vial of something green and glowing at Thane. Thane dodged it, hearing it vial shatter on the street behind him. Thane ducked into the shelter of a small alcove and conjured a ball of flames-a small one, barely more than a candlelight and threw it at the glowing green puddle on the street. The puddle ignited with a WHOOSH and flared bright for a few seconds then was gone. Hearing the Labtech's cry, Thane looked out from the alcove to see Pips with his sharp teeth dug into the Labtech's arm.
