Twi wandered the street corners, browsing the local art talents of Durem at night. it was his usual routine when events stirred in Gaia, especially Durem. Artists always flocked around big happenings.
the underground war between the Kuro Gang and the Vampire Clans associated with Von Helson was still waging. Twi, being of both worlds for so long, had finally been forced to choose a side; and he felt he played his part now. he didn't want to continue fighting directly.
he wasn't much of a healer, and so most of his efforts involved combat and infiltration. he relied on his stealth for assassination attempts and his darker power for direct combat. it was bloody, and he was fatigued.
even as he smiled at the street art being created in front of him and the crowd he joined, the thoughts played out in his mind. he could almost see the blood and cloaks and daggers in the images rendered and taking form.

All was silent in the wild part of the city, rubble from mad vampires and rabid werewolves throwing concealing shadows underneath the bright light of the half moon. A black figure suddenly appeared from nowhere, shrieking as a moving line of darkness jumped from a roof to land on the first silhouette's back. Fangs gleamed in the moonlight as the two figures hissed at each other, the moon's light glinting on the polished silver of four crosses as they came down to burn an imprint on the ashen cheek. There was a scream, a twist of reality...
Z found herself flying backwards, dizzy and disoriented, only to hit a crumbling brick wall. Coughing from the dust raised from old mortar falling from impact, the bricks themselves somewhat broken and cracked, Z quickly raised herself to one knee to look around. She was disoriented, senses assailed with strange sounds and smells; this wasn't the abandoned slums of her city. No, it was more alive, more active, more aware... Coughing again, Z ducked her head down to hide the extended fangs from her jaw, a natural reaction of her unnatural being to hunting and danger. And bloodlust, but Jeffrey had chased her around with a cross and forced some of his blood on her just a few days ago so that wasn't AS such a big deal at the moment.
Keeping the violet eyes pointed at her feet, Z hastily buttoned up her coat as if cold...although she didn't feel anything...to cover the myriad of weapons she wore on her person underneath the bulky leather. Gloved and cross-knuckled hands slipped into her pockets as Z hurried forward, looking for a map or library or anything. She couldn't help a sort of sneeze as she passed by what looked like an elf, but with fangs. His scent confused her, as so much did, but the hybrid knew one thing...
He wasn't alive.
There was no heart pounding in her ears, no blood to entice and tempt her nose with its evil promise. Only one being was like that, as far as Z knew. Vampires. Well, whatever this new place, at least she wouldn't be without a job... She hoped. Z moved her eyes to glare at the man, but until she knew the rules and habits of this strange world, she couldn't just slay every hated undead on sight. For all she knew, everyone was a vampire, or they were citizen or some such ridiculous thing. No, she'd have to wait, make sure he wasn't just some poor fool bitten. Although, if he was just a victim... How come he hadn't gone insane yet? So many things to learn. To pay attention to so she could survive.

Twi noticed the woman glaring at him, and he gazed at her as she walked by. his bright brown eyes were stoic and furrowed while he bit his cigarette, but they were also deep and passionate... calculating, even. when she finished passing by, he turned and walked away from the artist and began walking down the street. he threw his cig away as it got down to the butt. about 10 minutes later, the Undead Elf walked into a fine clothing shop. the establishment was called H&R Wesley, and had a Grand Reopening banner still hanging over it's front entrance.

Z glanced up at the tower, eyes narrowed at the very-human guards on the balcony above her. Heaving out a sigh quieter than the wind, Z moved until there wasn't anyone looking down on her. One guard might see a shadow from the corner of his eye, but if he looked Z was well and gone by that time. Taking a short time, Z finally made it to the top of the southernmost corner, looking around the small town below her. It was much smaller than the places she was used to...be that much easier to patrol. But, for the night, until Z understood what was going on... Hunching down into a crouch, back against the spire, Z watched with tired eyes at the town below, thinking. Obviously, that last vampire had portaled her here, that being his demon-given power. F*ck...how the hell do I get back home, then? Z wondered with a frown, glaring as she thought she saw a recognized hat moving out from a nearby building. No one thought to look up... Except for that hat, looking right at her. Z held absolutely still, staring down as if she could see the man's face. The vampire of the long ears, staring upwards right where she was a barely-detectable shape against the moon behind her. They stayed that way for some time, and then he moved on...and Z took a steadying breath, opening her deep sapphire blue eyes to spark with anger at the ground. This...was not going to be fun, she knew that with a familiar sinking feeling in her gut, glumly wincing at the burning at the back of her throat. Damn...God, what in hell am I supposed to be doing here??

Val walked out of the building shortly; on it's roof. he proceeded to make some strange gesture with his rosary and then began hopping up to higher roofs, getting closer to where Z was. nobody seemed to notice him. when he got to half-way across teh distance, he jumped down into an alley and dissapeared. what Z didn't see was the portal he went through, which led to the inside of the tower. he walked up behind where the woman crouched.

Noting Twi's movements, Z narrowed her eyes in suspicion, hissing her frustration lightly through her teeth. She tracked the undead elf with her eyes, frowning as he disappeared, seemingly just into the shadows. Such magical things always put the hybrid on edge, so she was tense when she heard the slight tap of a foot behind her. The young-looking man would find himself looking at the barrel of a revolver, Z's finger obviously close to...but not on...the trigger, pointed behind her right for Twi's heart. And Z wasn't even looking, the response much faster than any human could realistically manage, for such close range against such as he. Z just held that pose, muscles tight and stiff, not happy and wanting to be left alone. And he was a vampire, she killed vampires...but if she had fallen into a CITY of vampires, as he seemed to be like an Elder, then they might not like the hybrid Hunter killing one of their own... Figuring the threat...and awareness of it being a threat as well as showing she wouldn't just shoot out of hand...was obvious enough, Z waited, her whole body tight and ready to react as a low growl seeped through her lengthening fangs. No one words were necessary, in her mind; prove he was peaceful, or back off, the blood lust rising inside of Z's mind as her body prepared to hunt, anything Twi could see perhaps a touch crazed, but oddly....organized. In other words, possibly similar to the mind of a psychotic killer, except the woman obviously retained her sanity. It would be...interesting...

"who sent you?" Twi asked in calm, soft voice, though his eyes were set sternly on her gun. "are you a mercenary? a vampire hunter? why were you watching me?"

"What do you think?" Z snapped, not caring that he seemed disapproving, looking over her shoulder at him to reveal one moon-lit violet eye slit in the darkness. Words extraordinarily clear despite the slightly over-sized fangs that flashed as the hybrid spoke, it would be more than obvious that Z wasn't human. And that her gear could kill her just as easily as Twi. "I don't know the names of my marks, and I'm wary of all with fangs," she hissed, narrowing her eyes at the man, letting that be her answer. With all the crosses visible on her, perhaps gleaming in reaction to the undead Elf's presence, it should be obvious she was a Hunter; mercenaries carried firepower, but rarely wore crosses like the silver one barely visible behind the fold of Z's black cloak.(um, are you aware we're using the same color? XD did you do that on purpose?? lol)

"by that attitude, I'd wager you were sent by the Kuro Gang. I knew it was only a matter of time. I'm just surprised they didn't send Luciano. he's been wanting me dead since he learned I was undead."the Elf backed up and the shadows around him seemed to waver and surround him, blurring him. "just know that I won't go down without a fight. but I'm willing to buy you off instead. no need for bloodshed. how much did they pay you?"

A flash of confusion and surprise passed Z's features before the suspicious anger she had been showing returned. The hybrid snorted. "I'm not scared of your shadows," she stated, tone droll as she pulled her gun back, clicking the safety on as Twi backed up. "I don't know about any gangs, or this Luciano you're talking about," she stated, tone hard and annoyed. "I don't take targets for the money..." Z's voice was dead, except for a sort of bitter anger and hatred barely detectable through her flat tone. "Leave me alone, and I leave you alone, until I know and understand the rules of this place." With that, Z stayed silent after a while, seeming to stay annoyed and agitated, her gun still at the ready on her lap, back to Twi in a show of unconcern.(up to you, really ^^; lol)

"wait, are you new here? oh dear... my oppologies, please relax." he said calmly. "believe it or not, Vampires are citizens in Gaia. everywhere on the planet, just about. though, there are still strict laws regulating our behavior, and a strong prejudice against us..."

Z didn't respond, back still tight as it faced Twi...the hybrid didn't like ANYONE at her back, made them seem superior in a fight. Slowly shaking her head, the hybrid just kept her position crouching, ready, on the roof, fedora-style hat in leather pulled low over her features as Z watched the town below. A snort of disgust burst out from her, and Z spat off to the side, head down and shoulders hunched at Twi's words. "Great, just Heaven-loving great," she growled, annoyed and looking off to the side away from Twi's direction. "Guess that means I don't have a job," she sighed, rubbing a gloved cross-knuckled hand across the back of her neck, twisting it around as if trying to stretch it.(....)

Twi was irritated by the obvious anti-vampire racism in her tone, but it was nothing he wasn't use dto by now. "don't be too sure about that; not like there aren't 'undesirables' even by law. you could also work underground like I assumed you did."he may regret helping her out like this later, but he felt the need to be honest. his heart may not beat, but it certainly bled.

Ignoring the helpfulness of his words, Z spun up and around to snarl at Twi. "I have never fought for anything but God and Heaven, WHY, in the names of all the archangels, would I work for the lawless?" she demanded, obviously a sore point for this strange woman. Clenching her hands into tight fists, seething as she glared at Twi and grit her fanged jaws together, Z took a deep breath...and leaned over as if pummeled in the stomach, suddenly retching. The effects of the portal, with her stress and injuries and her lack of blood, had been too much for Z with her latest emotional outburst. So much self-loathing, so much anger and hate...so much sadness.
Hunching to herself, Twi would find a gun barely waveringly aimed at his throat if he tried to get close. So the undead Elf would get to see what Z was vomiting was normal food, perhaps strange to him with her obvious vampire traits. There wasn't much there, Z reduced to kneeling on one knee with bent toes for support on the slightly tilted roof, gun pointed up at the sky as long as Twi kept his distance. "Damn," Z whispered, sounding tired. But the violet glare lit up by the moon was defiant, angry....alone. "Just go away, I can manage on my own, I always have and always will," she snapped, face emotionless even with the vomit by her, traces of muck on her lips harshly wiped off with the back of her arm as she impassively aimed the gun right over Twi's heart. "I don't care if you fight, I don't care if vampires are legal...I find one hurting humanity, I will hunt it down, and end its existence," she told him, voice strangely elated with her harsh proclamation. "You tell them that, any you know...and leave me the f*ck alone."(....)

Twi was about to snap back at her but the gun pointed at him stoppe dhim in his tracks. noticing the throw-up had him concerned for her, however. there wasn't any blood in it, but she clearly now was a Vampire as well. it did explain a few things... hearing her statements, he backed off. but he reached into his jacked and tossed her a present; an I.V. pack of O+ blood. it was labled as donated. "noted." he grunted, and then was gone so swiftly he might have never been there.
