Aleu felt like she was walking on clouds as she padded towards the den, humming a cheery tune as she went. Ever since her and Verse finally confessed their feelings for each other it was hard not to be happy. Well except for earlier this morning when she had felt so upset about something that she had sat and cried for a long while. But then the sadness lifted away and in an instant she was happy again. These sudden changes in mood had been going on for a few days now but they seemed to be happening more and more. While it concerned her at first and she had avoided a good majority of the pack for that time now she understood just what it all meant - or at least she was pretty darn sure she knew.
She felt different, but nothing bad about that, in fact this was what she had hoped for one day and even more so now that Verse and her were an official couple. Now all she had to do was tell him the news, but the thought of doing that scared the crap out of her and so she had hesitated in doing so. But now she was determined to spread the good news. Coming into the den area her eyes scanned the various dens. No one seemed to be about, so they were either tucked away in their den or off attending to various duties. Well good, this would give her the opportunity to talk of her new situation in private before telling the pack as a hole.
Padding to the den entrance Aleu dipped her head, glancing inside though she couldn't see anyone within the dark cavern of the den. "Mother?" She called out hesitantly, the nervousness in her voice could not be hidden no matter how hard she tried. Okay, so she should be talking to Verse first but her nerves were getting the better of her so she decided to talk to Chivosi first, to get her confidence back before talking to her mate. "Are you there?"

It wasn't often that Chiv got to just..lay down and relax anymore, with the lack of Menelaus and no new second Alpha yet she was busy...quite busy, thank the moon for Merrill or she'd have given herself a fit by now.
Today however it looked like she might just get the chance to do nothing for at least a couple of hours and was headed back to her den to do just that, upon coming into view of said den however she abruptly realized that her dreams of relaxation were not to be. Aleu looked vaguely..well troubled might not be the best word to describe it but Chiv couldn't think of anything else at the moment that would fit. "Over here Aleu" she called out as she made her way to the den "What is it? Is something wrong?"

Hearing her mothers voice brought a huge sigh of relief to Aleu and she quickly padded over to Chivosi and gave her a nuzzle. The dam that was holding all those emotions back was on the verge of breaking, gods but this was annoying and it was only the beginning. How would she deal with it all as time went on? Oh wait her mother had asked something. Aleu pulled her head back and tried to find the answer.
"No, nothing is wrong." Not quite what she had wanted to say but this needed to be handled somewhat delicately, more for her sake that anything else. Saying the wrong words at this point would only start that flood of emotions that were threatening to overwhelm her. "I'm just....can we talk?"

Well...something was certainly up Chiv thought to herself as Aleu came over and nuzzled her - sure Aleu was generally a sweet and affectionate wolf but her steps had an urgency to it that only came when something was off "You and Verse didn't have a fight did you?" She asked gently even though Aleu denied that something was wrong.
Ducking her head she eyes her daughter for a few moments before motioning over towards her den "Of course we can sweetie, you know I'm always here for you to talk to" She assured Aleu before heading off to lay down by the mouth of the den, she was sure Aleu would follow and while it didn't look like she was going to get her nap in she could at least lay down while Aleu talked through whatever troubles she was having.

"What?" Aleu couldn't believe her mother had even suggested such a thing. Verse and her were deeply in love, the idea of fighting was just so far out there. "No, we didn't have a fight." She followed her mother to the mouth of the den and laid down besides her. Letting out a deep sigh Aleu stared off at the trees for a while before she could find the courage to speak again.
"I just...I'm just feeling...well...not myself lately." Gods why couldn't she just say it. The words were there on the tip of her tongue but refused to come out when she opened her mouth. Maybe if she sang the words they would come out easier, well she could try that in a moment, at first she waited to see what her mothers reaction would be.

Chiv eyed her daughter for a few moments, she kept denying they had had a fight but clearly something had gotten to her. "Did you fight with your brother?" She hedged a second guess - that wouldn't be completely unheard of they'd fought like crazy when they were young but had grown close as they grew, Chiv could see how a fight with her brother might put Aleu so out of sorts.
But then she went on to say she wasn't feeling like herself and Chiv looked at her even closer - she didn't look si...oh..OH. "You've been staying in Verse's den lately.." She finally put out there "Aleu dear...are you...expecting?" she asked gently. Aleu was certainly old enough, her brother had already sired a litter..and everyone knew that she and verse cared for one another, even if they'd only recently admitted it to themselves. Chiv supposed that she ought to have expected this to come about really.

Aleu couldn't help but laugh slightly. "No, I didn't have a fight with Derecho either." Oh sure they fought from time to time, more so when they were pups then now, but they did still have arguments these days. But no that certainly wasn't the cause of her troubles...for lack of a better way of putting it. Of course when her mother made the comment about sleeping in Verse's den, Aleu was relieved that she wouldn't have to actually say it herself - for the most part at least.
"I think so..." She said as she laid her head on her paws, smile dancing across her maw. "I feel so happy one moment, and then so sad the next, and then I get angry over nothing. I never knew being pregnant would be so...emotionally taxing." Aleu admitted as she glanced up at her mother. But ever shifting emotions or not Aleu was overjoyed to know that she would be a mother.

Derecho had been heading to his mothers den with the intention of giving her a report from his patrol this morning, typically he would have done so already by this time of day but he'd gotten held up with a conversation with Terreis and was running a bit late. Approaching her den he made out the voice of his sister and was about to turn away so that they could continue their in peace...until he heard THAT word. That word made him spin about and barge out of the bush like a stampeding buck deer "He got you pregnant?!?" He yelped at his sister was a growl, why..they'd only been mated for a short time and that Verse was already taking advantage of his precious sister "I'ma kill him" He stated before spinning on his haunches and making to head off for the little whelps den. "Well yes that can be difficult" Chivosi told Aleu with an understanding nod, she well remembered the havoc carrying pups could play with your body. "But you must remember that the emotions will pass and generally whatever ha made you upset is not that big of a crisis..it just seems so at tha...." And she let her voice trail off as Derecho - typically lugheaded and over protective barged in started what Chivosi could tell might rapidly dissolve into one of those crisis' that she only moments ago warned Aleu about.
"Now Derecho" She tried to get his attention and stood up with the intention of stopping him from actually going to kill Verse

Aleu nodded slowly listening to her mother. Oh she did hope that it would all pass soon enough, it was extremely confusing when her emotions shifted so quickly from one moment to the other. But then Derecho busted into the scene threatening to kill Verse for what he had done. Mother may be trying to stop him in that calm manner but Aleu was a sudden ball of fury. "Derecho!" She got to her paws quickly and trotted after Derecho, getting ahead of him before spinning around to face him. "Don't you dare even think of touching him!"
Aleu's eyes were filled with fury which was a rare sight for the normal loving and friendly wolf. "I want a family damnit! And you would deny me of such a thing just because of your over protective ways. I would hate you forever if you did such a stupid thing." Aleu wasn't sure if she would go for her brothers throat if he didn't back down or just cry like a baby, but something would happen that's for sure.

Derecho was more then willing to pretend he didn't hear his mother's calm words for the moment..but he back-pedaled quickly in the face of his sisters unusual rage. He skid to a halt and took a few steps back ears flicking in uncertainty as he regarded her somewhat at a loss for words.
"No..I mean..I want you to be...ah hell, you know I wouldn't actually kill him.." He finally admitted "I just..want to make sure he treats you right, you and the puppies both.." He babbled on in a vain attempt to calm her down. Terreis had been touchy too he recalled now and he hoped his sister would be this temperamental throughout the whole ordeal...
Well at least Derecho seemed to have sense enough to pause in the face of a pregnant wolfs fury - she did sometimes wonder about just how much sense he had so it was good to see signs of it now and again. Sighing slightly she stepped in between her children and nosed Aleu gently "You know he doesn't mean anything by it, it's just his way of showing he cares" She reminded Aleu

Already that rage was slipping away, as if it had been just a bad dream and that she was waking up. slowly Aleu gave her head a shake, still she felt angry but certainly not at the full fury she had been moments before. "I know you wouldn't kill him." Her voice was still harsh but there was a hint of calmness returning to her. "Well maybe you shouldn't threaten things like that and just say what you actually mean for once." Aleu always knew her brother said things that he didn't mean to often avoid admitting that he cared, but damnit now was not the time for that.
Her mothers touch removed the last bit of hate and anger that had been in her body and Aleu sighed lightly. "I know. He just isn't helping the situation right now." Plus the last thing she needed was Verse finding out by way of Derecho threatening him. "It's just that....Verse doesn't know yet."

"I was nervous about telling your father when I was xpecting your guys too" She assured Aleu "It's normal to feel nervous about telling such news...and your brother.." She gave Derecho a meaningful look as she stressed the word brother, before turning back to Aleu "Will not wreak it for you" She continued "Isn't that right Derecho"
"You haven't told him yet?" He asked her in a bit of an astonished voice, I mean shouldn't he have been the first to know..but he wisely kept that bit from escaping his mouth as he caught his mothers look "I mean..of course, no I won't tell him. I'm sorry Aleu.." He hedged again, he wasn't going to promise to top doing what he did...that was just the way he was, but he could apologize for it when it bugged others he supposed.

Well at least she wasn't the only female to have a bit of nerves about telling their partner that they were expecting pups. Perhaps it was a perfectly normal thing, much like those mood swings that her mother said would get better with time. Aleu's eyes narrowed just a bit at her brother, but then they softened to their normal friendly appearance and she smiled a bit. "No, I haven't told him. I wanted to make sure before I did." Plus she had no idea how Verse would react, likely he would be as excited as she was, but it had happened so quickly that they never really had much of a chance to talk about the possibility of starting a family.
"It's alright." She told Aleu taking his apology. "I know you were just trying to protect me...you big softy." Derecho might not like to admit or show that he had a softer side to him, but Aleu knew it was there,

"Well I think we can safety say that it's quite likely that you are" Chiv told her daughter with a soft chuckle - and the would even have playmates, sure a few months older but given time that wouldn't matter so much the pup from Antianeira and Aleu's children could mingle much as Deecho and Merrill's had - it was always nice when the pups had playmates who weren't necessarily their siblings.
"And I wouldn't recommend putting off telling him for to much longer" She cautioned "Or he'll be able to figure it out on his own"
Derecho huffed slightly at the softy comment but he was glad his sister didn't seem to be angry at him any longer - though truthfully he chalked up most of the anger to her condition. Pregnancy hormones...he shuddered inwardly and did not envy Verse at all for the next coming month.
"Yes well...he better take care you is all I can say"

Aleu's smile widened at her mothers words, confirming that she was most likely pregnant. What else could explain the mood changes and just overall off feeling. "Oh but I was thinking about making a game out of it. You know not tell him and see how long it takes him to figure it out." She joked, now wouldn't that be funny, especially if Verse was too scared to say anything about Aleu's weight gain over the next few months. Then she turned serious. "Don't worry I will tell him soon."
She padded over to her brother and gave him a nuzzle. "He will, you know he will." There was no doubt in her mind that Verse would take care of her and the pups.
