History: Born on the islands to a murderer and thief, Kaeyne was taken in by a guard. Neither of them ever became particularly fond of one another and, in fact, Kaeyne was left on his own through the majority of his childhood. He learned early to take care of himself while she left him to his own devices.
In some ways, he flourished. Kaeyne figured out that being small and pretty did a young man no favors - he learned to fight with hands and legs and teeth, to be of use to the older and stronger so they wouldn't mind him hanging around.
Several attempts to connect with other humans only brought, at best, a cold shoulder from the children and adults alike. The only deep connections he witnessed happen between a dragon and the rider. He started Standing for Hatchings after the age of twelve in order to be a part of such a bond and, when fourteen years old, he began to accept the advances of the girls around him.
Even while he felt no real desire for any of the girls, Kaeyne saw it as a way to gain prestige in the eyes of other boys. Also - why not? They said yes and, for a bit, he could feel as if he were a part of something other than his own world.
He offered to hunt for firelizard clutches, took it upon himself to kill any wild firelizards he came across and could catch. Assisting in the kitchens became another favorite chore, mostly for the knives. His life was an average, slow one full of outbursts and chores. He stood for those Hatchings near religiously and intended to keep it up until he Impressed - being alone did not appeal to him.
Then, Adetsu. Large, strong, quiet Adetsu. they met and bonded over something Kaeyne would later forget - mutual goals, maybe, or fighting abilities. What he would remember of the meeting was that of light colored eyes filled with shadows and hopelessness.
Kaeyne stopped standing after that.
Fast forward six years - lovers for four, attached even longer in a friendship deeper than Kaeyne knew he could have with another person. Things like that only happened with dragons - people didn't care about other people the way they did - only themselves.
Once, his foster said, "You are each other’s dragons. It's off."
Kaeyne liked it. If he would not Impress a dragon, he would at least have his other bondmate.
Then. Adetsu and his father struck a deal - White Candidate. Kaeyne did not kill him or his father upon hearing the news, a quite admirable thing in his opinion. What he did do was forbid Adetsu from Force Impressing and decide to Stand with him each time his lover did. They would Impress, and stay together, or they would not Impress at all.
He also let Adetsu know that he would rather beat the wherrie snot out of Adetsu then let him Force Impress. b*****d.
Appearance: Kaeyne is a short, nearly feminine looking individual. He barely hits 5'6" and while on the slim side, his body doesn't curve in the slightest. There is no charming little 'v' from shoulders to waist - Kaeyne is an entirely solid bit of muscle borne from years of the physical work of guard children and bored teenagers.
He has a darkly olive complexion and thick black hair to the mid-shoulders he keeps tied back in a short knot at the base of his skull. His face is delicately boned with high cheekbones, hooded almond shaped brown eyes, and full lips.
Kaeyne enjoys colors - if dyed clothing is at hand, he will wear it. The majority of his wardrobe consists of red and black tunics and pants. He does not carry a weapon. He doesn't need to.
Personality: (At least two flaws must be included.)
Kaeyne is a white dragon in a male, human form. Small, compact, quick as hell, and a vicious brute. While the white dragons don't bother to hide their violent tendencies, Kaeyne hides it under a thin veil of disdain. The boy is angry, the boy is violent, and unlike his counterpart, Kaeyne will not warn you.
He is not without redeeming qualities; Kaeyne is fiercely intelligent and uses that to manipulate others into not doing anything stupid. he is not overly vicious, in reality, although he has a penchant for utilizing his Adetsu's size and muscle to keep things in line so he won't have to. Adetsu may pound you into a pulp and stop when convinced things are settled but with Kaeyne, you will stay down. He makes sure the opposition will not be bothering him or his ever again, and God forbid you pull a dirty trick on Adetsu in a fight - Kaeyne will not forgive, forget, or consider physical violence enough of a lesson.
Adetsu is his muscle and trusted friend. He is not above hurting aforementioned best friend if it means keeping him safe (ie, dead legging him to prevent white dragon Impression); the thought of Impressing at different times greatly disturbs him.
Kaeyne is a fairly driven individual and tries to take control of every situation he's in. Firelizard hunting? He'll order them on where to go and look. Cooking? Stay out of his kitchen space. While he is well aware he does not have all the answers, he believes he has more than the others around him do. Strategic and prideful are two good descriptors for the young man.
Or, you know, Arrogant.
This Candidate holds himself in a very high standing - he is the best and Adetsu is as well by proxy. He takes care of his appearance and clothes, works hard, continuously pushes himself to the end of his stamina. Sometimes he must hear a concern from Adetsu to stop and rest. The positive side to the obsession that is if Kaeyne is assigned a task, he will do it to the best of his ability and do it quickly - this man does not slack.
Despite seemingly sociopathic, Kaeyne can actually be quite personable. He enjoys a crowd, a debate, the throng of people and not being alone. Adetsu's constant presence helps a great deal but it doesn't mean he won't eat in the middle of a dining hall. Kaeyne is sarcastic in his sense of humor and very opinionated when he feels the need to speak rather than just stay quiet and listen, or talk only to Adetsu. It's only when someone gets on his badside that they will see the darkness in him.
Flaws: Arrogant, ruthless, violent, unforgiving, opinionated
Strengths: Strategical, intelligent, commanding, driven
Is this character being trained as a 'White Candidate'? There is nothing in this world he would like less than to be a White Candidate. He's of the 'kill it before it kills us' side of the argument.
