Painite looked at her companion and sighed. He was quiet, as he always was, but she didn't expect anything different. He was, after all, a plush horse head attached to a stick. Too bad he was the only company she had, as she would have liked a minion or partner in crime to help her with her efforts to gather energy.
She was set up in an alley, the classic place for all things bad, waiting for a pack of young trouble makers to pass through. She had been watching them, and was aware of their routine, knowing that their little hangout was down the other end of the alley, through a battered door.
So she set her trap. Sometimes, it was fun to just stick to the classics: clear trip wires, a net and a pully with rope. That was all she needed tonight, to catch herself some humans and steal their energy.
Of course, she probably shouldn't have settled on the first pully she had found at the local car dump. And the net smelled distinctly of fish.
Hearing something, she crouched down behind the edge of the roof, peering down, hand on a rope. Once they tripped the wire and she felt the net loosen she'd tug the rope and bam. Captured humans. Easy!

Now if it were a normal day she would have probably had a certain lieutenant out with her, though she was sure he would now be up to trouble kissing some other girl. She envied that slightly, he had been a good kisser after all but then again someone had to do the work around here. He was the only one she had found to recruit into her training scheme, which was generally a lot of partying and messing about while working.
Tonight though she was doing the boring bit. Hopefully he would be working hard, who knew? She was crossing a building when the group of youths caught her attention. She crouched down on the building and watched carefully, it would be stupid to try and get them, they would survive afterwards and well lets face it they wouldn't forget some girl who was strong enough to attack them.
She decided to survey the area anyway and that was when she saw something. It didn't take long to work out the idea here and though in a way if it was a group here it might work it looked like the work of a lone ranger. She moved about on the roof a little before she saw the lieutenant and the horse like head thing. She rolled her eyes and decided it would be worth stopping this before they both got in trouble. She summoned her bow and arrow and shot at the wire, hoping it would hold in place till she got to the lieutenant and stopped this before something went wrong.

Painite felt something tug at her contraption, but it wasn't what she was expecting. She looked down, not seeing the kids close enough to be the cause of the snag, and then spotted an... arrow? She blinked in surprise, then looked around.
"Oh!" She said in surprise, seeing another one of her own 'team' on the roof. Another Negaverser, but why was she getting in the way of Painite's glorious plan?
She sat back a bit, far enough so that someone walking directly below might not be able to see her as she stood up, one hand on her hip, the other holding on to Mr. Saddles. Yes, she knew she didn't have to keep him with her at all times, but she liked seeing the faces of her victims when she and her plush minion rode in.
It was fun!
"What are you doing?" she called in a whisper that was way too loud to be effective. "I've got this!"

Sass used the awesome powers of the negaverse to jump over to where the lieutenant was standing and just looked at her. She didn't even say a thing, she just looked at her. First she looked at the girls face, then what she was wearing and then finally to the so called weapon. Interesting... she felt sorry for the girl really being given that was just a bit mean now wasn't it?
"You haven't got this. Nice plan and all but you can't pull it off on your own. Even if you did trap them all you can't physically collect all their energy, you are just a lieutenant and not only that these people aren't going to die so will possibly remember some of it." Sass was slightly careful with what she was saying to the lower ranking officer though at the same time the undertone was just saying that she was stupid for even trying.
"Who is your captain?" Sass wasn't sure what she would be like so at least keeping conversation aimed at work may allow the gang to just get past without her realising. It would be a mistake to allow this to happen and if she needed to she would pin down on of her own. They would have their world back but while the news still looked mostly to senshi as terrorists, that didn't need changing.
"Also what do they call you?"

Painite didn't feel uncomfortable as the other looked her over, liking the attention no matter what thoughts were going through Sassolite's head. In return, she took in the other girl's outfit and weapon. Which was actually a weapon. That had to be useful.
Not that she would complain about Mr. Saddles. But it didn't exactly strike fear in anyone's heart, which, she imagined, was the goal for most folks.
The young woman frowned when the flaws in her plans were pointed out to her.
"Ah, you're right!" she said, grinning again in short order, "I'll have to focus on one! That's okay, if we can just make a distraction, then we can split them up. Hey! What if you shoot one of them with your arrow when they're coming down the alley. One will come running down here to get a phone inside to call an ambulance, and I can swoop them up here, knock them out, and we can steal their energy without a sound!"
She grinned, thinking she had totally figured that one out. She wasn't easily discouraged, and was not one who knew the meaning of the words 'give up'. At least not when used together like that. Individually, sure.
She stuck her hand out enthusiastically.
"Lieutenant Painite. I don't have a Captain. I suppose I'm a freelancer, of sorts, at the moment. Right nice to meet you!"

The new idea wasn't much better but Sass was better then to just outright tell her that she was stupid.
"We will work on your plan in a minute." She smiled at the lower ranked officer. She was promising and after taking her hand and hearing she hadn't been assigned to a captain yet it was more then Sass was gonna let go.
"Right then, I will be your captain. I am captain Sassolite and we are going to sort this plan of yours out." She didn't even wait to hear whether the lieutenant was happy by that or not. She walked to the edge to look down at the group again and decided on the change of action.
"Right I will go down there nearer to the door, you head towards them from behind, walk normally now you don't want them to realise anything is going on. Grab whoever it is you want and pull them into that alley there. You may have to knock them out to concentrate enough to get the energy but it should work. Then just leave him once you have it and come back here." Sass hoped the girl would do what she said as she quickly jumped off the building and headed to where she was planning to be. She wanted to make sure that she wouldn't mess things up though if she did... Sass would just have to clean it all up. Sending her weapon away she got into position in the shadows. A hot young girl, waiting for the attention she was sure she was going to get.

"Oh? Brilliant! I'm glad to be on your team then, Captain Sassolite!" She said, grinning brightly. She knew she would be better off on a team, and Sassolite had, so far, struck her as pretty awesome. Of course, it was like judging a book by its cover, before really knowing what it was about, but she wasn't much for metaphors.
She was pretty sure she liked Sass already.
"Oop!" She followed after Sass as the higher ranked Nega peered over the edge of the roof, looking down as well. She listened to the new plan, nodding her head slowly. It wasn't as showy as she might have liked, no zest or presentation, but it did sound like it would work. And for the moment that seemed to be more important: it was what her new boss wanted, after all.
If she ever had minions, she would want them to listen to her.
She moved once Sassolite did, hopping off and down to get behind the group without them seeing her. She moved slowly, as instructed, though it made her feet itch. She wanted to make a scene, to let them know she was there.
Maybe when she had one to her herself.

Sass honestly didn't care what the Lieutenant did once she had one as long as she got some energy. She could see that the girl would be good when it came to senshi when one could be big and bold and showy but not with ones prey. You have to be stealthy when hunting but then someone would have to teach her. Sass saw the potential in the girl though and that was what mattered.
It didn't take long to get the gangs attention, there was a stranger standing as if she owned the place on their patch. She smiled as they all headed towards her. She looked them all over and watched as her new recruit moved towards the back of the gang. Once she had taken whoever she was taking then Sass would move and get the hell out of the way. She didn't like gangs on the best of days especially the days where they were all not looking overly happy. She was sure they had been on drugs, or drinking maybe. They didn't seem the friendliest of bunches that was for sure.

Painite watched the group very carefully, sneaking around like a cartoon ninja on a mission. She stayed close to the walls, then slinked past any lights by scurrying along, before she had caught up with them and fell into a casual step.
Ahead, she saw them get distracted by Sassolite, and she grinned. So her new boss was good at playing characters, too! Or maybe she was always a sexy temptress? Painite supposed she didn't know the girl well enough to figure out which idea was more true, but she would find out soon.
They were teammates now! As easy as that.
She pounced quickly, getting her arm around one's neck and yanking him away from his friends, away from the group's sight. She had made sure to get him so he couldn't make a sound, and had succeeded, as far as she knew, though it helped that he had been a few steps behind. Okay, so now it was time to focus.
Focus.
Focus on what?
Realizing she didn't know how to get the energy out of someone, she just sort of held on to him, looking around in panic. "Uhm, uh... oh!" she summoned Mr. Saddles and smacked the guy in the head with it, just to knock him out while she tried to figure things out.

Sass smiled as she watched the girl take one and drag them off. Then she stepped away from the wall, blew a kiss to the gang and said something along the lines of taking drugs is bad before jumping up onto a roof and out of sight. She was sure the group would be confused but it would keep them busy enough to find Painite and get this energy.
However she wasn't sure what she expected to find but the girl over a limp body wasn't it.
"What did you do?" She jumped down and checked the guy was still alive and sighed with relief. She was certain you couldn't collect energy from dead people.
"Why haven't you got the energy yet?" She didn't wait for an answer. She put a hand on the guy and concentrated. It didn't take long for a ball of energy to appear. She then looked at Painite and broke the ball, letting the energy flow back into the guy.
"You do it. Just concentrate on the energy." Sass wasn't being so nice now, she was a captain after all and the girl had been just standing there!

Painite looked at Sassolite helplessly, opening her mouth to reply, but shutting it as her new Captain moved over to show her how it was done. She stared intently, trying to figure out if there was a trick to it, or if she was missing some key secret, but it seemed to be exactly as Sassolite said.
Concentrate.
Painite nodded. She was pretty sure she could do that. True enough, her mind was often a whirlwind of activity, jumping from one idea to the next, always getting bigger and imagining new things, but she knew she could focus when she had to. How else would she ever get anything built the way she wanted it? She moved to the body, looking down at it.
She didn't see a person, but rather a means to an end. He was holding the energy she wanted, and she was going to get it from him. Nothing personal, that was just the way it was. The rules of the game.
A look of sheer determination crossing her face, she did as Sassolite said and showed, and soon enough a small ball of energy made its way up out of the human.
"Oh hey!"

Sassolite couldn't help but breath a sigh of relief when she saw the energy emerging. She watched the lieutenant and once she had the energy in her hand Sass went and checked the life of the strange guy. He was still alive, though just. She kind of wanted to kill him to put him out his misery, instead she jumped up onto the building and asked Painite to follow.
From here she could see the gang and it seemed they had noticed one was missing. Sass found a stone on the roof and threw it down on some bins that were in the alley where the limp body was and as she suspected the gang were there soon enough. Much rather a gang take him to hospital then the police finding him.
She then finally turned to Painite.
"Well done. Whatever you do, don't drop that ball. Also you see what I did there? If there is anyway of setting a story up that won't lead to us then do it. A gang taking in a guy with a huge hit to the head will look more like a gang fight then anything else. Try and plan that into your plans as well." Sass was smiling as she spoke and her voice was softer again now, talking more like a friend then a captain.

Painite watched her new boss, grinning in triumph. Not quite the plan she had started with, but in the end at least they had gotten something? She could take that as a win, and work with this new strategy of distraction and stealth for her next effort! Maybe that was the way to go, instead of nets?
No. Nets were great. She'd just have to try both, and see which one she liked better.
She followed Sassolite back up to the roofs, careful of her hard won prize, not sure what to do with it now that she had taken it out of the unsuspecting man. She looked at her Captain, still grinning.
"That was brilliant! And right, story. Okay, I'll remember that," she nodded. Intrigue! Fascinating. She would just have to be careful. Or rather, make sure her ability to clean up after her plans and traps was up to par. "That makes sense. Alright! I think I can get the hang of this. Thank you, Captain!"

Sass smiled as she watched the lieutenant. She had done well and Sass was proud to say the least.
"You will get the hang of it over time, don't worry!" Sass smiled before taking the energy ball off of her. "I shall go deliver this now so that there is no risk of it being broken. You can do what you want now, go home to bed if you wish. I will find you again and you can meet the other officer you will be working with."
Sass smiled once more before she just vanished in front of the officer. Sass was going to deliver the energy as she wasn't so sure yet that the lieutenant would be able to keep it as safe as needed.

Painite nodded and grinned, glad for the praise. She lived on praise, and it just made her want to do it again, and do it better. Be more impressive, be more awesome. She felt a thrill in her, but knew she couldn't risk doing any more to this gang.
Anyway, she was sleepy, and sleep would make for better hunts and better plans.
"Thanks Cap-" but she vanished and Painite blinked. She smirked though, moving to collect her gadgets stealthily before anyone could make a scene and then hurrying away from the alley.
She couldn't wait to show her new Captain what else she could do! And, of course, discover that for herself.
