Her breathing? Ragged. Her legs? Moving as fast as they possibly could. Her thoughts? Erratic at best.

Sailor Nova, Senshi of Stars, now sporting much lighter hair (in fact, much lighter everything; she looked vaguely like she had been dipped in to bleach) was running away. This was not any sort of news flash, she had run away from fights before, but the fact of the matter was that she was running away from a battle that she was more than likely guaranteed a win. The girl was sporting a plastic pitchfork, for christ's sake. It was all well and good that she knew that, but it didn't really matter in the long run, considering she was still trying to hoof it out of there like she was some purple haired Queen Beryl.

To her? The thought of fighting a Negaverse person rather than a youma had been a far off worry. Something that she would gloss over when her mind drifted there after coming back from her purgatory, knowing that the idea was less than ideal to her. She didn't feel comfortable even telling her peers about her worries, mostly because the main worry was that she was going to be fighting against "friends" that she had met in the Negaverse. Sure, she was all for defeating the Negaverse, and understandably so (she only had to look at all the bodies that have piled up in the past year) but at the same time, it was hard to stand up to people that had so simply reached inside her and turned her bad. Nova had found it in her heart to forgive Kunzite, the Cavalier who had killed her and freed her from the Negaverse, and Nova had found it hard to not forgive the Negaverse for what they had done specifically to her.

It would have been far simpler had she returned with more anger, with the ability to try to enact revenge on those that had ruptured her family, with those who had driven her best friend off, to those that had killed so many. But she was too goddamn terrified to even think of the reality of her situation. Of course she had to stand and fight, of course she had to beat down and turn back those who had turned from the light.

But she had just run in to the girl, accidentally, and Nova was far more comfortable conspiring a reason that was not even evil for that girl to have been running around Destiny City late at night, powered up as she was, than to actually admit that she was probably up to no good.

"I don't think you want to fight me, I'm an Eternal Senshi! Look at my butt!" Nova faltered for a second, "I-I mean, it has a butt! A bow, a bow! On my butt."

Flustered? Yes she was.

Nova might as well have been facing down a purple haired Beryl, as far as Lt. Ametrine was concerned. Feet set solidly apart, she gripped her pitchfork and watched the Eternal senshi with what could only be described as a predatory gaze. She was... hungry, almost. Watching Nova, hearing Nova stutter was at once fascinating and dangerous. It was a power trip, one that she could ill afford to make, but one that was impossible to avoid. Faced with a situation like this one, she was far, far too tempted to take advantage. "It seems to me that you are the one who does not want to fight me, my dear senshi," Ametrine said with a sharp grin.

Oh, that was too tempting for words. She shifted her grip on the pitchfork, taking a slow, menacing step forward. "Why don't we discuss this... at length?" she asked, pressing forward because it seemed clear to her that the Eternal would likely back away rather than tangle with her. She had no illusions about why the senshi seemed afraid of her-- no doubt it was something beyond herself, for what did an Eternal senshi have to fear from a lieutenant otherwise.

Adrenaline coursed through Ametrine's veins, making her bolder by far than she might otherwise have been. She wasn't a coward by any means, but this? This was foolhardy. She moved across the rooftop with a practiced ease. It was unfortunate that she'd been found; ordinarily she would chalk this sort of failure up to something she'd done, but she was fairly sure that in this case, it was simply that Eternal Sailor Nova was able to sense her.

Perhaps was even sensitive to the aura a Negaverser gave off. A slow, cold smile crossed her lips, and she tilted her head slightly. "Tell me... do you know what you are doing here? Or are you floundering about? It seems to me... that you're floundering." And Nova truly did seem to be. With every step that Ametrine took, Nova backed away. Oh yes. This was what power felt like.

There was a thrill to causing fear that hadn't yet truly touched Lt. Ametrine, not where senshi were concerned, and now that it had, she found that she was reveling in it. She backed the senshi right to the edge of the roof, and then dropped down after her. "You interrupted me, and I was having so much fun." Granted, her idea of fun and Nova's idea of fun probably weren't compatible, at least not when she was on a hunt. "I would like to hear you stutter some more, I think," she said, and brought that pitchfork to Nova's throat, leaning slightly into the senshi as she backed her into the wall.

"I know more than you do!" Nova's schoolyard taunt sounded weak even to her, and she flinched as Ametrine moved towards her, stalking in the way that cats do when they know that their prey is theirs and theirs alone. Hers was not the walk of one on a chase; she was walking as though relishing the prize that would be rightly hers momentarily.

The wall was freezing on the backs of her bare arms, the grit of the brick pressing in to her pale skin, her ribbons torn in her hurry to get away. She had been patrolling out of habit, and usually had the sense to take a step back when she sensed one of them in the night. But this? Apparently, Nova had become arrogant enough to mistake the signature of a Lieutenant for a youma, and the rest was history. She wished it hadn't snowed. It was reminding her far too much of the end of her days the year before. She shivered, and Ametrine laughed, and she shivered for other reasons.

Mouth dry, hands curled up tight to her chest, her eyes darting around her in a desperate attempt to find the escape hatch. She was the perfect picture of helplessness, and it would have been hard to argue that at one point there had been a bounty on her head. And it would be again hard to argue that she should have another laid on her at this time, for the sheer possibility of what could come. But that was neither here nor there as Nova watched her breath hang in the air and waited for Ametrine to come.

"I was one of you once," Nova admitted with a finality, hoping that somehow this girl had once known of her and her corruption and would feel some sort of familiarity with her.

"But you're not now, are you?" Ametrine purred in a sing-song tone, a sure sign that she was on the hunt, and about ready to pounce. She pressed the pitchfork up, tilting the Eternal senshi's head up with one of its prongs. "You aren't anything but a scared little mouse... and a traitor at that. How does it feel to betray your comrades-- Ahhh, but you would know quite a lot about that wouldn't you? Delightful." The lieutenant's orange eyes glimmered with malevolent amusement, and a smirk crossed her lips. "And now you're afraid. So very, very afraid. I think I like it." No, she knew that she liked it. Poor little lamb, so lost and so very, very alone.

Reaching back with the hand not occupied with her weapon, Ametrine subtly pressed the speed dial on her phone, ringing up Captain Hematite as she mocked her prey. Like a cat, she enjoyed playing with it before she... ate it. She licked her lips as though Nova's fear tasted good, and went almost nose to nose with the girl. "You know, you've never truly been 'one of us' before, Nova. It is Nova, isn't it? I think I recognize you, pretty senshi. There wasn't a lot of you left to be one of us, was there? Nothing but a shell." She gave a cold, predatory laugh, and eased back a bit, tightening her grip on the pitchfork.

Her hand went up now, palm flattening against the wall beside Nova. "Where will you run, senshi? There's nowhere left to hide in a blind alley. We're just off of King's street, did you know that? Tucked away quiet where no one will find us. Pity there'll be no one to hear you scream." Hint hint, Hematite. They had worked out before how she would let him know if she ran into trouble too big for her to handle without her captain there to lend a helping hand. She was to give him an address-- or as close as she could, under the circumstances.

It was not like she could give him the actual address while trying to (and succeeding in, she rather thought) intimidate a senshi. All she could give him were clues, and hope that from those clues he would manage to pull something off. There was, as far as she knew, only one dead end on King's street. The question was, would he know where it was? As soon as the senshi got going with her attacks, she'd be in trouble if he didn't come to her aid. But right now, right now she could take her on just fine.
