The swamps were a place that Gargantuan inherently felt safe. It wasn't uncommon for him to lumber away from the grounds after a day of classes and eating, and general mayhem. His skin was normally itchy and sore at that point, and there was nothing more that beast wanted to do than slide into the murky, boggy depths. He did so now with great enthusiasm, his more humanoid features shifting back into his natural state now that he was away from the magics of the school.
Content to lazily splash around and snap up whatever frogs he could find, the swamp monster was in a good mood. Of course, it did get lonely being out here all by himself, and he almost hoped that maybe Calder or Sumi would be around. There didn't seem to be many fellow water monsters, or people that wanted to hang around the swamps!
G couldn't see why.
With a huffed, bubbly sigh, the monster stretched his upper torso onto the muddy bank of the swamp, apparently planning on dozing some while he still had time. There were no other plans for the day, and he wasn't hungry... so sleep seemed like the best option.

Ah, the swamps. Not exactly visually appealing to many, but Hadiyya rather liked them. Not for the sights, nor the sounds, but amongst the thick foliage and cover of murky humidity there lay the undeniable scent of -water-. That is what drew the marid down to the muddy shores of the swampy wetlands. To immerse herself in the comforting scent and the single tingly presence of so much moisture.
Sure, it was muggy, buggy, and quite dirty, but the demoness could ignore the bugs. She'd even left her silk slippers behind, preferring the cool caress of crisp grass beneath bare feet. Additionally, she'd also forgone her usual lavish attire for something a little more simple and short that wouldn't drag within the clinging mud. Mud that now decorated the dark skin of her slender ankles to blend with the loops and filigree of fading henna. It was odd, she knew that, and certainly not proper, but Yaya put such worries behind her as she stepped off the relative cleanliness of the lawn into the mud of the swamp. Cold slime oozing up along painted toes and tickling along her heels.
It was a lovely day, or rather early evening. Classes were finished, and Hadiyya found herself alone and with more free time then a nap would warrant. A walk sounded just about right, so she slipped between trees and gnarled branches, careful of tricky roots, on a comfortingly leisurely stroll.
Of course, she hadn't expected to run into monster, hopefully a fellow student, for he was a gargantuan beasty, lying along the banks that edged the murky depths. "Oh, hello."

Oh! The big monster shifted to catch a glimpse of his unexpected company, jaws immediately gaped in a grin while his tail lazily swished from side to side in the water. "Hullo." It was a rumble of sound, and he was a little perplexed to see her, but perhaps that was because he'd never actually seen her around before. She had funny looking horns, and markings, too!
"Am G." The monster introduced himself after a moment, shifting a little in the mud so he could get a better look at her. She was so tiny! But then again, he always seemed to forget he was much bigger outside than he was inside. "You go to school?" He asked as much almost hopefully; more friends for school meant more fun! And more people to watch out for, of course.
There was another pause before he asked something else, wriggling a bit awkwardly. "You like swim?" Most people didn't, but he couldn't help but at least ask.

A grin spread easily over dark lips at the swish of his tail and that rumbly hello. Not a blood thirsty beasty at all. Moving forward, she made her away across the cool mud until she was beside him. He was big enough, even reclined, that she wouldn't even have to crouch to be on eye level with him. "G? Is that short for something?" She assumed it had to be, most people didn't have a single letter for the name. "I'm Hadiyya."
Ah! He was a student. "I do. It's a little surprising I've never seen you before now, you're quite striking in your size and coloring." Of course, she didn't get out all that much. Most of her spare time went to her dear friend Braum or to much needed napping.
A tilt of her head followed his awkward wiggle, but a smile soon replaced the gently puzzled expression. "I absolutely love swimming." She did crouch then. Palms smoothing the shirt folds of her skirt between butt and thighs to keep the fabric from the ark mud. He had to look up at him now, but it was more comfortable for her.

"Garrgga... Garrargnn..." He tried and failed to say his name properly for the girl, his fins wilting sadly from the attempt. "Yes. G has bigger name." He sighed, and had he eyes, would have blinked at her name. "...Haaadiiii?" He said a little guiltily, and that was his way of asking if he was allowed to shorten it to such a thing. Why did names have to be so hard?
He brightened at the mention of 'striking', resisting the urge to preen himself a little. "G dunno. G hasn't seen you neither. G sorry." Maybe he just hadn't been paying attention. That was always likely, especially in class.
She might as well have told him that she was secretly a female swamp monster in disguise! "You wanna swim? With G?" He was delighted at the prospect, suckered fingers absently toying at the mud. "Can give ride." If she didn't want to get her clothes wet, that was. G didn't really understand clothes.

Aww. She took pity on the poor thing. Long words didn't seem to be his forte. "My friends call Yaya, though Hadi works as well, if you prefer." He didn't say much, or rather used as little syllables as possible, but he seemed like such a nice monster. She couldn't help but smile warmly at him. Plus, he seemed to be just as fond of water as she was herself.
"No need to apologize, it's a very large campus. I suppose it's not completely out of the question that we've never crossed paths." It was probably more her fault then his. She'd only attended 2 classes thus far, and spent the majority of her free time with Braum. She had been making more friends as of late though, so she was going to have to make the effort to visit with them all. Perhaps invest in some energy drinks.
A tilt of her head followed his question, swirling blues widening slightly. Did she want to swim? You know, it didn't sound like a bad idea. "Yes, I think I might." The offer of a ride made her chuckle. She reached out and gave his shoulder a fond pat. "Maybe. Give me one moment." She stood then, and picked her way through the mud to a couple of low hanging branches. Her attire for the afternoon was a flowing little cotton top in pale blue and a flimsy skirt. The skirt was slipped over narrow hips and hung carefully on the branch. She had panties on, and frankly they covered just as much as a bathing suit so she didn't see the harm in it. She removed her bangles and trinkets, anything she'd mourn the lose of if it sank into the murky deep, and returned back to the monster a little less dressed, long hair being wrapped and coiled up at the back of her head to be held by some expertly placed hair pins. There, That would work nicely.

"Yaaaayaaaaaa." Came the enthusiastic gush, and the water sloshed about messily as his tail resumed its broad sweeps. She had a soothing way of talking, one that made the swamp monster want to cuddle close and listen. Of course, he'd never had a mother, so it was hard for him to place the sensation. Regardless, he'd lifted his chin up again, practically beaming when she said that she wanted to swim!
Well, of course she did! The water felt very good!
He watched with open curiosity as she pulled her funny skirt thingy off, oblivious to the fact that some people would have considered his behavior very rude. G didn't see why people had to wear clothes in the first place! They were silly and clingy and icky. Icky in a bad way.
Her long hair had been deftly wrapped up, and Gargantuan assumed she was mostly ready to go. "Swim now?" He wasn't quite begging, but... A thick hand reached out to touch her ankle, but he wouldn't dare tug her in or anything like that. That'd be mean--that, and he'd learned that some people didn't breathe well underwater.
Sigh.

Dark eyes shut as a gentle chuckle eased past dark lips at his repeating her name, her gentle smile growing into something closer to a full on grin. It was perhaps an odd phrasing, but he was actually quite cute in his behaviors and speech patterns.
Ridiculously long hair tied up securely she was ready to go, and perhaps not a moment too soon as a cool touch circled her ankle. Drawing her attention down to large, green fingers clearly trying to coax her along quicker into the water. "Yes," she assured, carefully stepping out of his hold and over the saturated mud into the shallows of the swamp. All the way up to her knees before pausing, glancing over towards the beasty boil.
For a swamp, it wasn't all that murky. Sure, the mud under her feet felt particularly slimy, but the water itself was mostly clear.
A flick of her finger inches above the water spread ripples in swirling patterns and the smile she was wearing took on a decidedly mischievous tilt. "Want to see a trick?" Holding her hand out above the water, Yaya gave her finger a swirl, lifting the tip, and below it a small, wavering orb of water rose a few inches from the surface.

Magic. Even swamp beasts knew about magic, and Gargantuan's fins stood straight up with a mixture of awe and alarm. Magic was something that swamp beasts couldn't explain, but instinctively knew it was dangerous. Still, this was Yaya--and she wouldn't do anything to hurt G, right?
Cautiously, a pudgy finger extended itself to prod at the ball of water, and he made a surprised sound when it was, indeed, wet. He inched a little closer to her, not so sure that it wouldn't suddenly grow teeth and bite him.
"Can G learn?" Was what he wanted to immediately know, and it wouldn't be long until he was opening his mouth and... well, seeing if he couldn't bite the thing. Just to experiment, of course!

A faint chuckle followed his gentle prodding and the sound of surprise that came along with it. The orb itself rippling gently before smoothing back over with a delicate flex of her fingers. "It's neat, right?" She chirped brightly, smiling up at the boil as he inched ever closer.
At his question though she frowned, glancing between the ball of water and the swamp beast thoughtfully. Did his sort deal in magic? She didn't think so, though she wasn't entirely sure. "I'm not sure. Something like this maybe." Dark lips pursed. "If you were really keen on it you could sign up for Prof. Audley's classes." If anyone could teach the gentle beasty magic it was her.
She might have added more but G had chosen that moment to lean in with jaws stretched and Yaya wasn't quite sure what to make of it until he'd tried to take a bite out of the floating ball of water below her fingertips. She blinked at him, and with a small twitch of her thumb the liquid now within his mouth swished about of it's own accord.
The remaining water floated along as if undisturbed. Save for the rather large bite missing from one side.

"Neat!" He parroted thoughtfully, still attempting to chomp at the water. It was neat, now that he'd gotten over it being kind of scary. Nice magic was okay--but not nice magic was something that G wasn't really interested in every coming in contact with!
A thoughtful grumble stirred in his throat at her suggestion, and he rolled his broad shoulders uncomfortably. "Maybe. Magic scary. But Yaya not scary so... maybe."
As the water in his mouth started to twitch like it was alive, his fins fanned out with alarm--but instinct only had him chomping a bit more furiously at it, refusing to let it go. He had to kill it, and kill it dead! Then he could eat it, and all would be well... even though it was just water.

The dark ghoul offered a tilt of her head at his uncomfortable shrug, and she offered a soft smile in reassurance. "Not all magic is scary." Her tone was gently reasonable as she spoke. "Audleys not so bad. Straight to business, but not scary." Not like some of their other teachers.
Her eyes widened as his fins flared suddenly, falling into helpful giggles as he worked to devour the water slithering about on his tongue as if it were half as alive as her magic was making it. It was adorable and hilarious and it did little to help her concentration. The water below her fingers rippled and morphed until finally breaking from of her to splash back within the body of the swamp. "Oh! Oops, couldn't hold it," she managed between continued waves of soft laughter.
Anything still trapped within his mouth had also ceased it's unnatural sloshing so it was only water again. In a round about way he really had managed to kill it dead, just not the way he'd intended.
