It hadn't been a encounter that he expected to have again. In his long line in the Negaverse and despite his long patrols, he had only met 2 cats in his entire line of duty. One on his side, Grendel, who had been a caring creature who had came to him to give him advice and check up on him after his run in with Wiseman. Another was a less pleasant run in with a spotted cat on the enemy's side, who, through his limited options, he had injured.
But it seemed he did not permanently injured the cat nor had he killed it.
It had been a great surprise to see the same cat walking along the side of a building while on his patrols even when Wolfram hadn't really been looking. He had stumbled on the cat, having grabbed a quick snack (changing into Ladon to get into the bakery before changing back), and was about to sit down and gave a little bit of a recharge before he set out to patrol some more.
When he went to a spot between two buildings, he noticed the cat, sitting there, behind a grate. He noticed her pattern, but he slowly walked on the ledge accenting the building, stepping over two statues of angels, and walked along to the point where the grate was. He was sure that it was just a normal cat, but when he peeked in, he noticed the star.
Blinking, he set his bag down and tilted his head. "I thought you were dead." He looked at the grate, noticing that it was bolted in and not even his knives and effort would pry it loose. Just his luck. A guardian cat would have been a great prize to bring in to the Queen.

There was always so much to do. A cat's work was never done. She honestly had only spared herself two or so moments to groom herself in the safety behind a nearby grate when she heard a voice. She glanced up from where she had been licking, tongue still sticking out slightly. Her ears twitched a bit, as if sensing the amount of energy coming from the Negaverse agent. Apparently, this was a captain, and one that was familiar enough with her.
"Oh, hello again!" she greeted in a surprisingly friendly voice. That was just how ********* rolled. The tailless feline stood up and turned so she could face the openings in the grate a bit better. Her green eyes searched for details to reveal who this was on the other side of the grate, but all she could see were boots and a hint of green.
"If I was dead, I would be alive again... don't cats have 9 lives?" Thinking herself quite clever, she giggled a bit.

"I suppose you're right, but I don't know much about cats. Guess that's a good thing that broken arm didn't kill you." He moved to sit, showing himself more at her level as he perched himself on the ledge on the other side of the grate. Looking in, he got to see the cat more up close and with an actual, if it was possible for cats, with a smile. Did cat's smile? At least she wasn't yelling at him to die.
"I thought guardian cats always hanged around their owners. That rainbow girl isn't hanging around somewhere, is she?" He looked about, wondering if he could spot her. He was pretty much taking a break at the moment and didn't want a surprise attack to kick him off a side of a building. Personal experience told him to always be on guard, but that was tiring after a while and he hoped he could at least eat something in peace for a few minutes before he had to go back to being serious.
Reaching in his bag, he pulled out some apple Juice and took a drink.

Still in that pleasant tone of hers, she let him know what had happened. "Oh, I almost died apparently. From shock more than the injury itself." Ellie had been ever so kind to let her know how everything went down from after the moment the manx had blacked out.
Since he was slightly more at her level, she could see him better. Last she checked, he had two eyes. Yet now, he had one completely covered up. Before touching on such, she mentioned "You assume I have an owner? No, no, if I laid claim to one senshi alone, then I would not only be endangering myself, but the senshi as well. It would be irresponsible at best." And, it would actually be a waste of her time too. So many more things could be done if she was not stuck in a household. Her head nodded, causing her collar to jingle a couple times before her head settled again. "I assure you, Iris is not my keeper and I am not Iris' keeper. It is just us right now."
Sitting her haunches down finally, she continued to watch the boy curiously. Juice? Juice was always a wonderful treat! She licked her maw slightly. "Now, I hate to be the nosy one, but is the eye patch purely for show, or did something happen?" Despite how light her voice was, it still held a faint hint of concern. Odd considering they were on opposite sides.

He considered what a honor it would be to kill a guardian cat, but the way he had hurt the spotted cat just didn't seem like a honorable way to do it. They had more or less been in a tight situation that required rash action, and the way he heard the cat mew under him when he fell to the ground and rolled seemed downright wrong. If they were just meeting head to head, knowing they were in a fight, that would have been fine. The cat would have known and had a chance, but the other time had just seemed like an accident. One that made him a little sick inside to think of.
"Oh. If Iris had been your owner, I would have felt she had done a bad job in taking care of you. I suppose you look after yourself? Like a teacher?" He had wondered about guardian cats, especially senshi ones. The guardian cats they had in the Negaverse didn't create other Negaversers and rarely seemed to do any sort of fighting. They were more for show and to check up on things. Friends who worked in the office and not in the field.
He noticed her licking her lips as he drank some more of the juice. "Do you…drink juice?" He wondered, not really having a dish but thinking he could pour some on the ground or in the cap of the bottle. The good thing about juice bottle lids was that they were much bigger than pop bottle lids.
As for her last question, he hesitated. "I would have thought he would be bragging about that. Castor. Do you know him?" He asked, looking at the cat. "He has one hell of a punch."

She could have nodded her head to agree that she did look after herself, but that would be too much. Verifying facts was not what she wanted to do.
However...
"I eat or drink whatever I can get, in all honesty..." Once more, she licked her maw, as if approving of the notion of having some juice.
The feline's ears fell back upon her head slightly. "I have only had the opportunity to speak with Sailor Castor one time, and I have not seen him in action. I can assure you, that he definitely was not bragging when I spoke to him." No, the conversation she had with Castor was more of Castor beating himself up over things he couldn't control.
As sympathetically as she could (which was pretty sympathetic), she offered a simple "I'm sorry about your eye then, Captain."

"It's no big deal. Better than loosing an arm, though I'm not thrilled about it either. All part of being in a war I guess." He leaned over, pouring some of the juice into the cap and setting it down. Then, slowly, he moved it under the grate for her. He'd fill it up if she finished it off. Seeing as she mentioned both food and drink, he turned over and rifled through his bag, wondering how healthy it was to feed cats sweets. While he never had any pets of his own (he only once owned a goldfish as a kid), he was pretty sure that most people refrained from feeding them junk food. However, when the cat actually talked and was one of a supernatural nature, he guessed there was no harm in it.
Taking two lemon cookies from the bag, he also pushed them under the grate. While he knew that feeding an enemy cat was not the sort of conduct the Negaverse approved of, he decided he was off duty at the moment and could find out a little more about guardian cats. He hadn't seen Grendel in a long time and missed him dearly.
When he felt a tickle to his nose, he covered it with the hem of his sleeve before sneezing once. Then twice. Sniffling, he took another cookie and ate it. "You don't seem so strict on talking to either side. Why don't you ever go to the Negaverse side? We're all very nice, hard-working people. Not taking what I did to you into any account. That was just survival. We have some cats on our side and I'm sure they'd like to meet you. Cats on both sides don't talk to each other, do they?" He wasn't so sure. The cats seemed to do what they felt and maybe they didn't feel obligated so much to stick to the rules.

As soon as the bottle cap was pushed through the bottom edge of the grate, the cat crouched down and began to eagerly lap up the juice. Mmmmmm, flavor was such a wonderful thing! Liquid was much kinder to her than food, and rather quickly all of the juice in the bottle cap was gone. Placing her paws to each side of the make-shift saucer, she attempted to hold it in place as she attempted to get every last drop of that flavor.
She smacked her tiny kitty lips and sat back only to notice two cookies! "Oh, thank you!" At least the manx had manners it would seem, and once more she crouched over her new claim, starting to nibble on the pastries. Eating was always more tricky than drinking. So as the boy talked, she nibbled and listened and watched. It probably seemed weird to have a cat staring directly at the Captain while doing other things, but it was how she showed others she was listening.
By the time he had finished his sales pitch, she was only 1/3 the way through one of the cookies. "You know," she said smacking her lips again, "these are really good... which bakery did you get them from?"
Her whiskers twitched before she then addressed the real issues. "Alas, I do not mind talking to individuals. I dislike the side you chose, perhaps, but it does not mean I approve of it or yearn for it. However, if I were to shun people strictly based off their beliefs, then I probably wouldn't have a whole lot of people to talk to!" The cat's eyes closed as she let out a tiny giggle.
"Sorry, but no amount of sweet talking could change which side I have my allegiances to. Plus..." She paused for a moment so her eyes could open up again to look at him again. "...I wouldn't exactly want to be a trophy pet." Having said her piece, she crouched back down to resume her work on the cookie.
Mmmm, cookie!

He sighed. "I didn't think it would be that easy." He thought out loud, but he at least gave it a honest chance to try and win the cat over anyways. While it didn't seem like she was firmly set on her side, she wasn't ready to jump on the Negaverse train either. So much for that idea, but at least he could talk to her and find out more things about guardian cats.
Eating another cookie, he poured some more juice in the cap, the liquid spilling around the sides due to having the grate between them. "The bakery is called Powdered Sugar. It's about 5 blocks from here. Very small, but they're open late. I guess you could get one of your senshi friends to go there and buy you some." Last he checked, no cashier accepted money from talking cats.
"So, guardian cats. Do you come from the Moon too? Seems a little weird for a bunch of senshi to have talking cats with them. I don't see you all around that often. Just helping to make senshi and hide in the shadows? How does that even work?" If someone told him cats went around making super aliens, he would have thought they were on crack. It was sad that the only Earth cats he met didn't talk or do anything special.
"Any other talking animals where you come from?"

She paused from her nibbling and paid attention to the makeshift saucer again. Scooting to her left, she once more began to lap up the beverage, once again making quick work of it. The moment the bottle cap was licked dry, she scooted to her right. However, she didn't go back to eating right away.
"You, my dear boy, underestimate my powers of persuasion." She winked in his direction, though the gesture might have been completely missed. Even then, most food businesses had to get rid of their stock that was about to go bad. There were probably dumpsters filled with breads and pastries close to expiration date.
She thoughtfully took a couple nibbles of cookie, then paused again. "Cats come from where cats come from." It was a simple, yet vaguely cryptic message.

She wasn't going to give him an answer, and he expected that much. At this point, he was just fishing for anything he could find out and passing the time. So she wasn't going to reveal anything close to what she did for the senshi. Fine. He already knew they were valuable creatures and with them gone, the senshi failed to grow in number. That is unless there were others. He had only seen this one guardian cat after all, but he assumed there were more. Plenty more. With the number of senshi that seemed to multiply like rabbits in spring, he could only guess there was a fleet of cocky, stubby-tailed cats running about.
Leaning back against the wall, he thought of other things he could ask on this rare encounter.
"So cats come from cats, and guardian cats that talk come from other guardian cats." He was just following logic here. "How does your mommy and daddy feel about their daughter running around town?" It was such a strange question to ask a cat, but seeing as he could now ask a cat, he might as well.
"Do you like it here instead of the moon?" He was told all the senshi had come from the moon, and he wondered why the entire group just didn't shove off to their planet and leave theirs alone. It wasn't till a recent meeting that he found out they had invaded because their place was ruined. Not his problem. He didn't see why the senshi didn't go back and work on rebuilding. Leave Earth alone.

This boy was doing his best to prevent her from eating. He most certainly was, with all of this talk. He was at the advantage, because his mouth was much bigger than the cookies, where as her mouth was so tiny. It was yet another time she wished she was more like a snake and could unhinge her jaw. That food would never stand a chance!
It took her a moment to swallow the bit of cookie in her mouth, but when she did, she giggled quite a bit. "I wouldn't know. You ask them the next time you see them. I mean, you see them as often as I see them!" It was an answer, and it in all honesty wasn't exactly revealing any sort of hidden truths.
Rather than actually give a real answer to the Captain's question, the feline instead attempted a joke. "What's not to like of the moon? It's made of green cheese! Mmmmm, cheese!" She purred before giggling a bit and going back to work. Once again, not a real answer, but it wasn't exactly this boy's concern as to things of the past.

He frowned at her response. "Cheese, huh? You're not going to tell me a single thing, are you? Afraid I'll get some edge of you and your team?" He leaned back, reaching in to grab another cookie and slip it under the grate, more out of an automatic gesture at seeing her cookies being eaten than anything else. "You were a lot more cocky and talkative when I first met you, not that I don't like the idea of not being insulted the entire time."
He licked some powered sugar off his fingers, before reaching in his bag for a cookie to eat. "So is there anything you'll actually share with me? I don't think it's every day you can sit down with someone on the opposing side without having to worry about getting captured." The grate solved that. Things would have been different if she was in a spot where he could grab her.

The cat rather suddenly sat up and pushed herself immediately in front of the grate. She sat there, eyes looking at the boy. In as serious a voice as she could muster, she gave the boy a taste of his own medicine.
"Well then, Captain. How about you tell me where your Queen resides? Or perhaps you can tell me how to get to the Negaverse?"
She paused long enough just to crack a small feline smile. "I understand you are in uniform, Captain, but you need to learn how to separate business and pleasure." Having shared her two cents, the feline returned her attentions to the cookie. Yes, he was spoiling her a bit, but ********* never minded such things.

He leaned back when the cat moved up against the grate and he was half tempted to summon his weapon. Word had already went around that guardian cats had special powers, and right now, he didn't want to tango with that. Not when he was sitting there, an easy target, and eating cookies. It was clear that the cat could be serious when she wanted to and right now, she didn't feel up to starting anything. It also meant that she didn't want him to keep poking and prodding her for information.
Noted.
"I find pleasure in my work." He pointed out, eating a cookie. "...and I already offered to take you to the Queen. The offer is always there. We'd appreciate you coming to our side, but you seem very against it." Moving on. He was sure she would get huffy with him talking about pulling her to his side. She was against it, and he really couldn't list down the major benefits of being on Earth's side to a cat that was from...well, he guessed the moon, right?
"Okay then. What do you do for fun? Anything different from just normal cat things? I don't know if talking cats are any different than normal cats aside from speaking." He had wondered if, aside from talking and powers, they would enjoy the same things, making them rather the same as Earth cats.
