((To onlookers: The essential point of this Mock Battle is to go in with loose character concepts, and flesh them out by using them in combat, making things up as we go. This will help us to come up with abilities, appearances, and all that good stuff.))
Setting: Downtown Denver, CO
Conditions: Clear afternoon
Characters: ----- Kurotenshi (Rhaegar14) and ----- Shou (GodofLaugh)

Kurotenshi stopped his Shunpo, arriving at their chosen destination for battle. It was the year 2005. The citizens of Denver, Colorado hustled and bustled below them, many heading to or from lunch breaks. The black-haired Captain surveyed the situation with his usual interest in detail. He wore basic Taichou's attire, with the white haori over his black Shinigami robes. Finally, he turned to face his arriving companion, looking his fellow in the face as he arrived. "So this is the spot, right?" he asked in a hoarse voice. A hand rested loosely on his Zanpakutou; a katana with a red hilt wrapping and wrought iron tsuba and pommel. It was in his hand in the blink of an eye, the white blade gleaming in the sunlight. The hint of a smile played at the corners of Kurotenshi's mouth.

Shou, looked over to his fellow captain, sizing him up since their last battle. "Yeah this is it, perfect day.." he replied in a casual tone. Shou looked up into the sky taking in the breeze, feeling comfortable. He placed his hand on his zanpaktou, Mugen, and slightly leaned his head to face Kurotenshi. "Lets do it" Shou quickly drew his zanpaktou, which was a standard blade, however the pommel of the blade was a white circular piece that resembled a cloud. He then looked at his opponent, waiting for his move.

Kurotenshi laughed aloud, shifting into his battle stance. "I always loved your straightforwardness," he said happily. The short-ish Taichou extended one arm, the robe sliding down his light skin. "Hadou Number Thirty-One: Shakkahou (Way of Destruction Number Thirty-One: Red Fire Cannon) !" he shouted, opening their match with a bang as a blast of red energy formed quickly and then shot from his hand towards Shou. A quick Shunpo placed Kurotenshi behind his opponent, his sword poised to strike. His face was covered by a big grin as he brought the blade down for Shou's shoulder.

Shou smiled as he felt the wind play through his hair, as Kurotenshi flashed to his flank. He shifted his weight downward, and allowed himself to plummet toward the earth. As he fell he turned to face Kurotenshi, he pointed a finger to him "Bakudo 9: Geki" A flash of red light emitted from Shou's finger heading straight toward Kurotenshi.

Kurotenshi dashed to the right, narrowly dodging the cloud of paralyzing energy but easily avoiding his own Shakkahou. He shook his head, then dove down towards Shou, positioning his Zanpakutou to engage in melee. Nosferatu, it's name was, and it begged to be released, but the Captain would wait. Shou would choose when they moved on to Shikai. He finished his rush with an arcing slash of his blade, backed by the power of his speed and his battlecry as he tried to throw Shou backwards with the sheer force of it.

Shou smiled as he heard his friend's famous battle cry, and chuckled as his screaming body came flying towards his own. Shou realized that Kurotenshi was coming in fast, and he wouldn't be able to dodge it. He placed two hands on his blade and swung out, using the power of a two-handed strike to parry, Kuro's falling strike.

Bright sparks flew as the two blades met, Kurotenshi adding a second hand to his sword after the initial impact to match the strength of Shou's two-handed parry. The sound of the scraping metal overpowered all else. Kurotenshi inched in closer, his arms bending at the elbows, then pushed them upwards, bringing the blade lock over their heads. He followed this up with a swift kick toward Shou's midsection.

As the sparks flew past his eye's, and his arms were pushed up by Kuro's sword push. Shou noticed the Kurotenshi was aiming a kick toward his midsection, he mustered his strength and forced the two blades down attempting to slice Kuro's leg in mid kick.

Tenshi's eyes widened, but he reacted quickly, pushing off of Shou's sword and jumping backwards as soon as the blades were low enough to do so. He regained his balance, raising his sword in a defensive position. He flashed Shou a smirk, trying to taunt him a little into coming to him, rather than the other way around. Still, a little good-natured harassment wouldn't hurt. "Hadou Number Four: Byakurai (White Lightning)," he said calmly, a bolt of white lightning shooting from an extended finger towards his friend.

He watched Tenshi fly back to defensive position, just as expected. Shou let out a sigh of relief, and smirked back to him. Next moment he saw a bolt of white lightning flying towards him "Hadou 4: Byakurai" Shou thought he would entertain Tenshi's curiosity. As the flash of lightning left his finger he aimed it towards the fast coming lightning bolt. As the two collided it created an explosion that shrouded his view of Tenshi, and vice versa. Shou quietly whispered under his breath an incantation....

"Hadou Number Eleven: Tsuzuri Raiden (Bound Lightning)!" he yelled, channeling electricity into his sword before dashing forward. Kurotenshi knew Shou's talent with Kidou, evident by the two Byakurai spells annihilating each other. He was smart enough to not let him get away with the long-winded incantation he heard as he flew towards his opponent. At the last possible second, he broke his rush, spinning to the right into a Shunpo and appearing on Shou's right side, lashing out with a quick thrust.

As Shou watched the explosion he quickly hurried to finish his incantation. . "With light, divide this into six!" He heard Tenshi use his own kidou, and realized that Tenshi would soon be attacking. In an instant he saw Tenshi at his right side striking wit his blade. Shou quickly raised his blade, and used a quick shunpo to a spot behind Tenshi "Bakudo 61: Rikujokoro (Six prison rod of light) Six beams of light flew toward his body.

When Kurotenshi had heard the incantation, he'd already planned what he'd do if he couldn't interrupt it. He threw his sword into the path of one of the light beams. It looked like he would be the one to advance their conflict to the next level after all. "Drink, Nosferatu!" he roared, his blade changing shape as the light beams collided with his body. The sword changed to the form of a European longsword, with a black handle, dull gray blade, and red hilt wrapping. The pommel and crossguard showed a bat motif. The same instant the light beams hit him, he called out his second command. "Nagasu (Drain)!" he said, the blade of the sword glowing red as it began to suck the reiatsu out of the Kidou. It would not be enough to break it outright, but it would be enough to significantly weaken it.

Shou, saw the transformation of Tenshi's blade and he jumped back to put some distance between them. He watched as the power of Kidou was absorbed by Tensi's blade. "Hmmm looks like warm up is over?" He chuckled to Tenshi, as he raised his own blade over his head, with two hand's on the handle. "Namida sono tachikiru no sekai" (Tear the world asunder) He brought the sword down splitting his hands to the left and the right, the blade split into two blades. "Mugen shippu no kaze" (Infinite Maelstrom Winds) The hand guards changed into a small circular ring of wind, as spinning it was accented with a bit of blue reiatsu. Each blade had a small spinning gale wrapped around it, and you could hear the wind whipping around.
