Ooh, I am very full, Palisanth declared, flopping down at the edge of the feeding pens. May we stay here awhile, Mine? I do not feel like flying yet, after that.

Of course, O'ri knew that that wasn't all the truth, and her dragon knew she knew it, too. Pali was just making an excuse to stay here in hopes that one of the Senior Weyrlings would appear. The green was absolutely itching to meet them, and it was inevitable that they would come here to eat, so she'd started to hang around the area a little more. It helped that they suddenly had a lot of time, as they were no longer wingriders, but hadn't taken up their new Weyrlingmaster duties quite yet, which had Palisanth uncharacteristically impatient. She wanted to start teaching the babies already!

Sure, Pali, her rider obliged affectionately, Whatever you want.

Brath was bored. Anyone who knew anything about the mottled brown knew that this was a very bad thing for the Sr. Weyrling to be. And he was starting to show his irritation and boredom by meticulously destroy the kitchenware he had plundered for just such an occasion.

It wasn't that he was bored often: His had quickly learned to always keep him occupied, but His was sleeping at the moment, and Brath wasn't anywhere near tired. And so, he was destroying the dinnerware.

But soon even that grew wearisome, and he left the barracks and his sleeping bonded to explore the Weyrbowl. And low and behold, someone was there!

Mine, you should wake up and join your Brath. There is someone by the feeding pens that I haven't met, the dragon said none-too-quietly in his rider's mind, waking Z'ai up almost instantly.

Brath approached the green with a draconic grin, his forked tail wagging almost in the manner of a friendly dog greeting a potential friend. He noticed the green was older then him, and full from a feeding.

Hello!

Oh, oh! They were in luck! Along came a young brown with a very patchy sort of pattern, and he seemed very friendly too! Palisanth's eyes whirled a happy blue-green, and her own tail twitched in a mirror to the younger dragon's. Oh, hello! she cooed, and proceeded to state the obvious with delight, You are one of the Weyrlings. I am Palisanth, and Mine here is O'ri. I'm so glad to meet one of you finally!

The green cast a quick glance around. Is Yours here? He should meet Mine, if he is.

O'ri laughed and patted her dragon's foreleg. Her dragon's bouts of enthusiasm where young dragons and humans were concerned never ceased to be adorable.

Mine is on his way. He didn't need to sleep anymore, the brown told the green with a draconic, mischiveous grin. Then he flared his wings, settling them more comfortably on his back, and seemed to pose for the green, trying to make himself look bigger then his Sr. Weyrling size.

He wasn't small for a brown, but he still lacked his full growth, and at this stage of his life, he wished nothing more then to be older.

Like most teenagers.

I am Brath. It is a pleasure to meet you.

"Oi! Dragon!" the voice was full of a scolding sort of amusement, and Z'ai came running up from the direction of the barracks, his raven dark hair still ruffled from sleep. He reached them without showing signs of being winded from his run, and pointed a finger at Brath. "You destroyed those big plates the Headwoman cherishes. You know better," he said outloud, forgetting to mindspeak.

And you know better then to leave me alone with nothing to do, Mine.

Z'ai met his dragon's calm blue eyes, then sighed and nodded his head slightly in acknowledgement of that fact before he seemed to remember that they had company.

Looking chagrined, he bowed slightly to O'ri. "Morning," he offered with a smile, not quite knowing what time it was other then not evening. Falling asleep at such a weird time had left him a little confused. "I'm Z'ai, and this is destructo-Brath."

The older dragon was quietly amused by the brown's attempt to pose for her. How cute! And oh, here came his rider~! Palisanth rumbled happily, but the noise cut off when Z'ai spoke aloud to his.

"Oh, goodness. Destroyed the Headwoman's plates?" Hand over her mouth, O'ri giggled.

...that is not funny, Mine, Palisanth said disapprovingly, And you especially should not be laughing. It is a bad example. Remember what we are now!

Yours is right, she chided Brath, It is bad to destroy others' things. How would you like it if someone did that to something of yours?

The green did have a point, O'ri had to admit. If the brown's rider had been the one responsible for the destruction of the plates, she would have been dismayed, but somehow it was sort of cute when the dragon did it. Still.. "I'm Weyrlingmaster O'ri," she introduced herself with a mischievous grin, "And my stick-in-the-mud is Palisanth."

Am not.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 04, 2010 9:21 pm

Why is yours calling you a stick in the mud? You're clearly a very nice green dragon. Brath sounded very confused, as he'd never heard the phrase before, and he cast a perplexed look to the green and her rider, causing Z'ai to burst into a fit of laughter before he bowed to Palisanth and her rider.

"Nice to meet you, ladies. So you're the new Weyrlingmaster, huh? I'm sorry," he added with a wide, playful grin as he leaned against his dragon's forearm.

Brath still seemed confused, and when he realized that the green was effectively his teacher, he straightened and his blue eyes suddenly whirled with a tinge of yellow in his guilt.

I truly didn't mean to destroy the plates, he said to Palisanth, wings drooping as he dropped his head.

She is saying I'm no fun, Palisanth elaborated, and eyed the young brown appraisingly as he said he hadn't meant to destroy the plates. Hmm. That seemed a bit suspicious to her. Did you not? How is that you destroyed them by accident, then?

"One of them," O'ri answered. "There'll be a few of us, as I understand it, to accomodate the different sorts of Weyrlings. I only just got the appointment, so I'm not entirely sure how it'll work yet, but I suppose it's my responsiblity to tell you to keep your dragon away from the Headwoman's plates." With this, the greenrider laughed.

Z'ai looked sheepish and rubbed the back of his neck. "It's my fault really. Brath needs something to do all the time, or he gets terribly bored. And, well, destructive."

Patting his dragon's forearm, and he sent a silent but felt apology to his bonded and he could tell that Brath was speaking to Palisanth.

I don't know that I'm doing it, when I break things. It just happens...then I look down and see what I did. I hate being bored, the young drake said sadly, dipping his head. But he soon looked back at Palisanth with a hopeful smile. Have you anything I can do, Palisanth? I do so love a challenge, or errand.

"Huh." O'ri scratched behind her mangled ear, thinking. It was an amazing thing, how very different every dragon was. Acting out for any reason never even entered her dragon's mind. "Do you have any firelizards?"

Hmm, I see. Palisanth's disapproval faded somewhat - it was somewhat understandable that such a young dragon might have difficulty curbing such...unintentional habits. It was less his fault, and more that of His for not engaging him enough.

...however that was. Where were you in your lessons? They had to at least be flying now, maybe with their riders? Maybe, jsut maybe, they were up to going between. Things they'd have to inquire about. What do you like to do, when you are doing things? What interests you?
PostPosted: Sun Dec 05, 2010 2:57 pm

Z'ai and Brath brightened simultaneously and the rider brought his fingers to his lips, whistling a sharp, clear note that rang throughout the Weyrbowl. Not two seconds later, a big brown firelizard appeared, chirping happily as it landed about Z'ai's neck. It crooned at Brath, eyes whirling a rich blue, and the brown dragon grinned at his little friend.

"This is Turahk," Z'ai said proudly, and the little firelizard started a warbling conversation that only he could truly understand, aiming it at O'ri and Palisanth. "He's really talkative."

Turahk has been chasing the mini greens. Otherwise he would have kept your Brath occupied. Turning back to Palisanth, Brath answered her questions. Interests? Killing tunnelsnakes, the young dragon said with a growl, imagining one of the squirming, hissing things in his grasp.

Because of his age and size, it was still an easy thing for him to track the pests in the tunnels, and he had a voracious love for hunting them. Soon, he would be too big, but right now, the thrill of chasing them kept him well occupied. I also like to fly very very high.

Oh, what an adorable little firelizard! How cute it was that he was a brown, like Brath, and even cuter that he 'talked.' Palisanth crooned back at the warbler, delighted.

"How precious!" O'ri cooed, practically echoing Palisanth. "Hello, Turahk." The rider and dragon clearly had very similar, very stereotypically feminine interests in anything cute.

Killing tunnelsnakes is much better than destroying the Headwoman's plates,
the green encouraged with a nod, And helpful to your Weyr as well. And flying, too - that will make you stronger. Better for fighting Thread, and chasing females.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:09 pm

I'm very excited to fly thread, Brath said with an animated nod, his eyes sparkling. Mine and I will show everyone our skills. The young brown swelled with pride and surety, puffing his chest out.

Turahk crooned in his sweet firelizard voice, enjoying the attention from the green and her rider. He left Z'ai's shoulder, disappearing between. He reappeared almost instantly and held out a sparkling shell, still dripping with water, to the greenrider. His eyes whirled a happy blue and he looked at Brath, chattering animatedly.

He's giving it to Yours, I think, Palisanth.

Z'ai laughed. "Cheeky little guy. He's such a flirt."

Brath glanced at Turahk, then to Palisanth, his brow furrowed. His eyes whirled in concentration and he suddenly launched into the air, his wings making a powerful downward motion as his legs propelled him into the air.

Be right back, Mine.

Perplexed, Z'ai blinked, watching as his dragon flew to the barracks and disappeared inside. "Um..."

I am sure you will do well, if you fight it with such enthusiasm. Would she and Hers fight Thread, if it fell? They were no longer members of a wing, but perhaps if they were needed, they would be called upon. Well, Palisanth wasn't worried about it. She had been dutiful while drilling, but this Weyrlingaster thing, this she could really put her heart into.

The green looked on with pleasure as Z'ai's firelizard presented O'ri with a gift. How precious! He is darling. He has found a good audience with Mine.

"...for me?" A present, all for her! And it was shiny, and pretty, and oh Faranth this boy had the cutest firelizard ever. "Oh, Turahk, thank you!" The gift was accepted with as much enthusiasm as any gift from a human would have been. O'ri offered her arm to the flit, asking, "Would you like a hug?"

But oh, where was Brath going? How curious! Had he been inspired by his rider's pet?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:59 pm

The brown firelizard landed lightly on her arm and reached up to touch her cheek with his little forepaw, chittering animatedly all the while as he looked back and forth from her and the shiny shell he had gathered for her.

Z'ai smiled, glad to see Turahk making friends. His firelizard had kept to his owner since hatching, and Z'ai tended to be a little anti-sociel without realizing it. Although Brath was doing a good job of breaking him of that habit.

Suddenly, the brown reappeared, landing only a little awkwardly with a small hop. He trotted over to Palisanth and released what he had been holding delicately in his mouth, letting it settle to the dirt in front of the green's feet.

It was a fist sized, very flawed diamond. Worthless to anyone but a collector of shiny things, Brath had found it on one of his tunnelsnake hunts and had hidden it away, for what purpose, he hadn't known at the time. But Turahk had given away something shiny. Why couldn't he?

Mine, you are quite competitive, Z'ai said to his dragon with a grin.

"You're such a sweet little thing," O'ri cooed happily, bringing the flit in close for a gentle little hug. "So handsome, and such a gentleman too." Since she had nothing at hand to 'trade' for the shell, the woman repaid him with praise instead. ...but wait! After thinking about it a moment, the rider tugged a green ribbon from her hair and offered it to the firelizard. "Here, would you like a present too?"

Something shiny for her, too? Palisanth's eyes whirled a happy blue-green. Oh, Brath, you shouldn't have! she gushed, It's beeeauutiful~

She gathered it in her forepaws to better admire it, her forked tail flicking busily behind her. I will treasure it always, she promised, And when you are old enough to chase me, I will remember it.

O'ri tried to contain a sudden burst of laughter, but only half-succeeded. It came out as a brief snort instead. Way to start off the student-teacher relationship, Pali. Really.
