Isa looked down at the two boxes she held in her hands. One was wrapped in red and orange, with a gold bow tied on top in flourish, while the other was more sedate in blue and silver, with a black bow. She smiled as she tightened her grip around her two presents, proud. She had picked the colors of the wrapping paper, and the ribbons. And with some difficulty, she had learnt how to tie the ribbons into pretty little bows.
"I think we're just about here now honey." Mari said, frowning as she looked at the directions she had jotted down into a spiral bound notebook. Looking up at the house, she nodded as she pulled the car into an empty spot for parking. "This is the address... and if its not and we have the wrong house, well. Maybe they can direct us to the right one."
Isa looked up then, nodding her head. Mari had called ahead and they had scheduled this meeting around both guardians' respective time tables. What had supposed to have been a simple present drop off had evolved into dinner, and so Isa had found herself packed up herself like a tiny little package in a new dark green and blue dress with a gold sash around her waist.
"Wait?" she asked looking out in the snow. It was nice enough... but she as suspicious of snowy days now. Snow met sliding and almost falling, or picking up heralds who looked as if they were dying.
Snow always meant adventure, and she wasn't sure if she trusted that thought tonight.
"No, I think I'm right. Get out of the car and wait, I just need to pick up a couple of bags from the back." muttering something about hoping the bottles of mulled wine had not cracked, Mari got out of the door. "Or walk first." she glanced out pensively. "It doesn't look too slippery..."
Isa let out an almost undignified snort.

Luna was busy as ever, even on her day off. A wreath had been carefully placed on her door, Garland wound around the stair railings leading up to the door, which was over hung with icicle christmas lights. In fact, it wasn't the only thing that was lit up; several of the trees in the front yard were. There were lit up reindeer, there was a blow up santa claus just to the side of them, sitting in a sleigh.
Michael had been fixing up some peppermint flavored hot chocolate for their guests when he heard a car pull up. He grinned and hurried to the door. He opened it, and quickly went to help Mari; forgetting to close the door. "Here, I'll help," he said. "It's not as slippery as it looks, really," he said, before disproving his statement by slipping. "Maybe I spoke too soon," he added, smiling sheepishly. "Come on in, though. It's nice and warm."
And even more festively decorated than the outdoors. The scent of mulled cider filled the halls, which were decorated with garlands of gold and silver entwined.

Mari laughed as she handed over the parcels. "I've bought mulled wine, and some apple pie for dessert." she said, pausing as she looked around the main entrance. It was beautiful, and much more decorated than her own shop and home. "Hey Luna, we're here!" she called out cheerfully.
From behind, Isa took careful steps, looking down at her boots and the snow. She frowned, concentrating and let out a small giggle at the sight of the older boy slipping.
Well, it seemed this wasn't easy for anyone!
Feeling a little bit better, she slipped in through the open door, looking around the house.
"It's really pretty." she breathed, tugging at the scarf around her face. It was warm as well, and it smelled really good.
"I bought... presents." she said, feeling suddenly very anxious and shy. She'd never been in someone else's house, at least not the house of someone she knew. Not knowing what to do, she stood there, the coat stifling her wings.
Well, maybe it was a good thing. They were furled tightly against her back as she looked around.

"What's wine?" Michael wanted to know. "Is it good? I've never had some." Luna didn't usually bring it into the house, unless it was a small bottle of red; which she claimed had the ability to help her live longer. Not that Luna was old; being only thirty, she had retained the look of someone in their midtwenties.
Speaking of Luna, the woman walked out onto her porch to help. "I thought you had gotten lost!" she called back, teasing. "Watch your step though, it's really slippery," she glanced back inside as Isa walked in and smiled.
"Presents?" Michael repeated, beaming. "I have a present for you, too." He hoped she liked jewelry.

Mari grinned. "It's a decadent thing we usually only drink for special occasions, and this is definitely a special occasion!" looked around the house, she let out a happy noise of contentment. "When you're a little bit bigger, you'll acquire a taste of it." or maybe she was being a corruptible influence on the poor Herald.
"I almost did." she said cheerfully. "But your directions were pretty spot on for someone like me to follow." Thank goodness. It would have been a little bit embarrassing to have to call up her friend and admit she had no idea where she was. It would have definitely put a damper on the evening.
Isa looked up at Michael, brightening. He had a present for her too? Well, there was something definitely entertaining about the holiday spirit! She hefted the two parcels she held, looking around. "I like presents." she said, slightly shyly. "Where can I put this?"

"Oooh," Michael said in understanding. "I don't know if Mom drinks that stuff." He paused, and crossed his arms. "Can't I have some now?" he asked hopefully. "What's it taste like? Do only old people drink it, or something?" Sometimes, the boy was too talkative for his own good.
He glanced back at Isa. "I like presents too. Oh, on the table," he said. "We can open them after hot chocolate. Mom's got a special treat for us."
Luna smiled. "I'm glad you didn't," she said. "I would have worried."

Mari laughed, smiling as she looked up towards Luna. "Maybe just a little bit later?" she added the lift as a question towards the other guardian, wondering if she would approve. It was the Christmas season after all, and maybe Michael wouldn't like the taste of it at all.
"Where can I put all of this?" she asked, echoing her Herald's own question. She smiled as she looked around.
"Special treat?" Isa smiled, nodding her head as she hefted the two parcels onto the table. She was gentle with them, surprisingly gentle as she nodded her head at the other boy. "I like treats. And chocolate." she added somewhat shyly.
What could she say. She had a sweet tooth.
