Meet the Parents!

User ImageThe proud mother! Shoshana seems a bit of an air head most the time and deities knows she's had her clumsy moments. She's loving by nature and looks to find the inner beauty of everything no matter how scary it may seem to be. Yes this includes the evil soquili of the land. She's an adventurer, having left her own family as a foal to travel and seek new adventures and eventually she came to the Kiwani lands. She hopes to raise her foals to love adventures though hopefully not so much that they leave at a young age. She has one fear in life, that's the ocean after having a rather nasty run in with a wave that had been keen on pulling her out to sea. She's cheerful and under the surface more wise than you'd expect just from looking at her. She loves her children every one even though the union which brought them hadn't been exactly a planned thing.

User ImageMeet Daddy!Oracle is a nice young buck, friendly and personable. He doesn't think he's any more special than any other buck of his age, and finds it very uncomfortable for him when Cerynei come to him for advice or guidance. He's loyal to the Prince and followed him out of the ancestral lands to the Kiwani lands. He tries to live his life as a normal Cerynei; making friends and flirting with pretty does. He avoids trying to fit the mantle that his parents has thrust upon him.

Personality: Sunny
Number of soquili owned: .5
Prompt: PROMPT A
Asriel walked along in the woods with her mom, tryin to stay close but havin an aweful time doing it. There was so much to see, and though her siblings had warned her of scary things in the forest. But she really wanted to see. So she had asked mommy to bring her along. It was all bigger then she thought it would be. The trees stretched out everywhere, and a strange noise made her start and look up.

A large bird with bright gold eyes was staring down at her. She froze for a moment, and walked under him, watching the creatures head swivvel to follow her. Then, it turned to watch her, and she stopped to look back at it. "Um, hellow." "Who" asked the bird. "Oh, I'm sorry, I was rude. My name is Asriel." "Who" asked the large bird. "Asriel. We live around her." The large bird turned it's head to the side, and so did Asriel. When it corrected it's head, and put it forward, she turned and noticed that her mom had stopped up the path ahead and was waiting for her. "Alright, well, I hope to see you again soon!" She pranced forward, splashing through some mud as she made her way to her mom, seing a dispairing look at the mud coating in her long white tail. She had made a friend, and that was worth a bath.

Soquili Name: Nobara
Personality: Romantic
Number of soquili owned: (I'm nosy) I do not own any yet ^_^
Prompt: (Responding to prompt A)

Nobara had seen many things in his already short lifetime. His mother, a beautiful mare with a flowing mane and tail that he likened to the brilliant glow of starlight at night. He knew his siblings by sight and by sound, but he'd known then long before either of those two senses had become gifted to his ever growing mind. Then there was his father, whiter then the daisies that grew in the sunshine and the snow that topped the far off mountain peeks. It was his father whom he admired more then anyone else in the world, and whom he wished to be the most like.

It was on this bright day that he felt he had to emulate his father even more then before, for while he had been standing in the meadow, his mother grazing but a few feet behind him, that his eyes caught a shadow moving among the shaded treeline to his left. His eyes were very quick to light upon the stallion whom wandered there, for Nobara noticed that the stallion also shared the same antlers that Nobara's beloved father had proudly displayed on his head.

Curiosity was a killer, but it was something Nobara could not help as he let out a gasp and a started for the stallion. He was so intent on the male that he ignored the fact that his mother quickly moved to stay up with him, though she didn't make a move to stop Nobara from greeting the strange male.

Nobara made sure to hold his head up high, his small prongs on his head barely visible past his hair, before he paused a good meter from the male. The stranger paused as they approached, his eyes meeting Nobara's in a silent stare down. There seemed to be amusement in the strangers eyes as he turned and started into the woods. Nobara tilted his head back slightly, then nickered to the leaving stallion. He stopped only a moment, then vanished into the forest without even a word to the inquisitive foal.

Nobara smiled still, his eyes wide and dreamy as he looked back at his waiting mother. "Mommy...? Will I ave antlers like daddy someday?" He asked as he pranced back to her, his head held high. "I want to have antlers even bigger the daddies!" He giggled, bouncing around her as they eagerly wandered back into the meadow. "One day...I'll be able to beat daddy in a spar, too."

Fauns and roses!

Username: Veneficus Solanum
Soquili Name: Male - Dream Weaver (named after this rose as well as being a small play off of Oracle's name) | Female - Valencia (named after this rose)
Personality: Because I can't help myself, I'll give the personality for each gender because I have a kind of plan for a boy >w>
Dream Weaver: Named for a combination of the roses his mother wears and the mystical mantle of responsibility bestowed on his father, Dream Weaver (Weaver or DW for short) is a more serious foal, taking any responsibility (no matter how small) to heart and making sure he follows through. Though he doesn't know much about his father besides what he's heard from his mother, he'd very much like to learn more if his father is willing to tell him. As for his mother, he loves her very much and hopes he can make her proud of him. He takes after her adventurous genes a bit, though he would never leave her for long. He prefers to take small adventures to sate his curiousity, the knowledge he has a safe home to come back to keeps him from venturing too far abroad. In one word: Steady
Valencia: Also named after the roses her mother wears, Valencia (of the many nicknames which include: Val, Valley, and Cia) is much like her mother in that she loves everything. While she knows not everything is her friend, she believes everything has the capacity to be good if they have a good enough reason for themselves. She can be very blunt about things, and is not hesitant at all to ask questions of ANYONE. Which has the possibility of getting her into trouble perhaps with a Kalona or other Soquili of the meaner variety. In one word: Blunt.
Number of soquili owned: 1.5 >w>
Prompt: B~ (and playing as DW~)
Dream Weaver listened as his siblings described their secret places, the places they went when a break was needed. They of course, did not divulge the location of their retreats, and Weaver didn't blame them. He wouldn't give up his secret location either. Which set him to thinking...he didn't have his own secret place! Well, he'd have to fix that...he needed somewhere to go where he could be alone and think without distraction.

With a smile, Weaver left his siblings to talk and started scouting for his own place. He tried quite a few places, but they were all wrong for him. The first, though very pretty with a weeping willow shading a small clearing, had a family of ferrets living there already. Not only would he be disturbing the creatures' home, but they would not make for quiet neighbors when he needed to think! Next was a small cave formed by several trees next to a river. He tried there, but the river babbled far too loudly for his taste. He found and dismissed a few more places before finding his perfect retreat.

He stepped into the small meadow, and knew instantly this was the place for him. It was a small, circular meadow where the sun shone down on his coat in dappled warmth. The wind whispered through the trees, reminding him of his mother and the way she was gentle, yet a little excitable, moving and flowing easily. And there, at the back of the little meadow was a bed of the roses he was named after. Their many pink petals shivered with the wind, but each rose moved as one with each other. There were many lessons to be learned here in this meadow, if only Weaver was open to their silent teaching.

"I'm here," he murmured to the roses, the wind, the trees, and the sunlight. "Teach me."

Soquili Name: Male: Xador | Female: Edosa
XXXXXXXXXX Xador comes from combing the basque words "manly" and "divine gift".
XXXXXXXXXX Edosa comes from combing the basque words "snow" and "rose".

Personality:

Xador: Unlike his father, Xador doesn't seem to be as humble but favors his mother love for adventure. Combined with his male ego, this insights a type of personality that must prove itself over and over again. He sees himself as a protector of his beloved mother, and a competitor of his father. His ego certainly isn't damaged with his dashingly handsome looks either. Of course this personality is developed over time. At the time of his birth, he was like any other happy child with the curiosity of a cat and the bravery of a lion.

Edosa
: Quiet and contemplative marks the admiringly beautiful Edosa. She isn't quite the adventurous type, but enjoys peaceful moments with her family that she cares for dearly. She has a very tender heart and easily has her feelings hurt, but shes strong underneath that. It would take more than the average dirt bag to rattle her cage enough to give them enjoyment of seeing her hurt. Her dreams are to have a long happy life involved with her own little family.

Number of soquili owned: At my time of post, zero. :3

Prompt: A~ (since you're going to have a lot to read with all the entries, I'll just pick my favorite of the character's personalities above so I have one story. :3 )

"Mother? Why do we travel so much?" Edosa wasn't exactly huffing, but she wasn't pleased that once again they were traveling around a new area she was unfamiliar with. Her siblings were left at their little cave like home, for the time being. Edosa could have stayed with them, but wanted to spend more time with Shoshana, so tagged along.

"Because dear, its good to move around, meet new people, see your surroundings. Wouldn't it be terrible to live your life with out seeing everything there is to see?"

"Its impossible to see everything in the world, in one life time, mother." Edosa let some exasperation filter through tone. It was very impractical of her mother to even suggest seeing the entire world before one passed to the next life.

Smiling, Shoshana did not reply to her little love one. Instead they continued in silence, enjoying the morning air around them.

Even Edosa, being a oddly introspective character that she was, was still a child and children let their attention drift easily. A gleam of something shiney sparkled in the sun as they passed. Looking ahead, Shoshana kept an even slow pace. Edosa would have enough to time to see what it was before her mother drew to far away. With that quick realization, it took a split second decision to trod over to the bush that held the interesting object. Tilting her little head from left to right, Edosa picked the object with her teeth and putting it open to view in the grass. A black leather band with a silver circle lay before her. It seemed to be a collar, or necklace of some sort. Very pretty, Edosa thought. She could catch bits of her reflection in the small circle and she was fascinated. She made faces of sorts and edged her head around, trying to get the sun to shine so that the beams reflected in rays of light.

Her examination with interrupted with a gruff snort. Looking up quickly, Edosa had time to see a grumpy looking foul prodded out of the bush. The girl roughly brushed by Edosa and stomped her foot on the pretty coin.

"What do you think you're doing, stealing my necklace?" The female narrowed her eyes scornfully towards Edosa.

Taken a back, Edosa took several steps away. "I didn't steal it. I found it while I was passing by."

"Mhm, I bet that's exactly what happened," the girl mocked maliciously.

Edosa flattened her eyes and turned stone faced. She'd done nothing wrong at all. "Excuse me," she said curtly and started walking back towards her mother, just realizing how far again Shoshana had gotten ahead.

"I don't think so." The female bit onto Edosa's tail and yanked roughly
.
"Hey!" she bent around and swatted with her hooves at the bully.

The foul released her, sneering. "You gotta apologize for stealing and you also gotta give me something in return since you tried to take something of mine."

"I didn't take anything of yours." Edosa said, really agitated, but now more so frightened. How long would it take mother to notice she wasn't behind her?

"Ha! What a load. You're such a liar."

Scowling, Edosa attempted to turn and walk away again though she was nervous about turning her back on the foul again.

She was right too. The foul reached and bit Edosa's hide, grazing gently through to the skin.

Yelping, Edosa leaped and darted towards her mother's direction.

"Hey! Come back here!" Edosa could hear the girl galloping after her, but Edosa figured she was just a little faster with the head start. Shoshana came back into view and Edosa felt a jolt and relief. That was, before the girl leapt onto her.

"Mother!" Edosa had time to plead before she went hide first over herself, rolling over the ground.

Shoshana turned hastily and was on the scene at and amazing speed. The foul was now most definitely and utterly out of her league.

Shoshana had a protective leg over her daughter, glaring fiercely at unknown foul.

She need say nothing because the foul found herself terrified, and trembling before darting back into the brush from where she came. Bully's were all the same.

Panting and staring apologetically up at her mother Edosa curled more closely to Shoshana. Shoshana bent down and nuzzled her child with a hint of smile playing on her lips.

"Come on." she whispered sweetly. She knew she didn't need to remind Edosa to stay close now, and there was no use chiding her. She was well aware she had a brilliant brew of fouls that learned their lessons quickly.

Edosa, sticking side-by-side with Shoshana continued quietly, her head bent only slightly lower than it had only a few minutes ago.

The grass! It smelled so sweet! And the sun! It was so pretty and bright! She practically hopped from one hoof to another to see it all. Mom was taking them on another walk to keep them all entertained. She wondered if perhaps mom was a bit too frazzled taking care of the three of them. "Mom! Mom! Mom!" She inched up then quickly snatched one of the flowers from the end of her mothers long flowing tail and ran off like a shot. She'd replace the flower of course but it was fun to play this little game. Keep her on her toes.

Trip pranced to edge of the clearing with her prize then look up into a tree at the sight of something slightly glittery. She cocked her head and waited for the sun to catch the object just right again. It seemed be a a feather. A red one! The color or her mothers flowers. She put her stolen booty down then pranced about the tree until she got the feather to fall. She added it to the feather and then headed back to mom to make amends...

Soquili Name: Farren (Applies to both a male and female. Female: The land(Irish meaning), Male: Variant of Ferdinand: An Old German name, from 'fardi' meaning journey and 'nanthi' meaning venture. Famous bearers include three Holy Roman emperors and several Spanish and Italian kings.)
Personality: Farren has an almost unwavering confidence in his/her capabilities, Enjoying his/her mother's airheaded obliviousness, and wonderful sense of adventure, knowing much more of the world by following around his/her mother learning how to make friends in interesting places. Like his/her father he'll/she'll be somewhat of a respectable type, looked up to, but the quirkiness of his/her attitude ends up being a little off putting to most normal Soq because of the almost too cheerful attitude.
Number of soquili owned: 1.5.
Prompt: A (male for purposes of RP)

Farren flopped down on his belly and stared up at his mother who was still walking, he tried to recall how long they'd been walking. He didn't have quite the ability to tell time with his internal clock yet, but he was sure they'd been walking for far too long. "MO~OM!" The lamenting sort of noise that came from from him was beyond high-pitched and annoying, "Why are we walking so dang far~?" He pouted at his mother who turned back and smirked, then continued walking.

Frustrated with her seeming indifference to the plight of his short legs, he looked off to the side and saw a rather strangely shiny object, attracting his attention, it was ridiculously glimmering for the late evening light. Being a rather adventurous foal, he grinned, flipping his tail a bit as he stood and attempted to "sneak up" on the shiny thing. He was not a freshly out of the basket foal but at times his legs did get away from him. This...sadly was one of those times. Finding his back leg tangled with his front two, he fell and landed quite firmly on his face on top of the shiny glimmering thing. There was a slew of cursing from the thing he'd fallen on. At least...it sounded angry. He scampered backwards and looked down to find the thing he'd fallen on was attached to a very large, and angry looking thing, with a bunch of sharp, pointy and shiny things all over it. His little eyes were wide as he heard the thing growl and watched it blink its big yellow eyes at him. He felt his heart leap out of his chest and do a few somersaults then he found himself backpedaling, whirling around and screaming at the top of his little lungs, "IT'S GONNA EAT ME!!!"

As he ran full tilt in the direction of his mother, the thing in question chuckled a bit, and moved back to its well deserved nap.

Prompt A: You are going for a walk with your Mum when something catches your eye. What is it? What do you do? (Feel free to move Shosanna around)

The morning star had risen silently over the dew kissed hills as its larger brother sol rose into the sky behind it. Light glittered off Annabelles rose coloured pelt, almost like a silken shawl threaded with gold.

Annabelle lifted her head which was weak with sleep and glaced happily at her mother, Shoshana. "Good morning mama!" She giggled, stretching out already having a burst of energy. Shoshana smiled at the young foals greeting before nudging her gently to move along ahead of her. It had not taken long before Annabelle froze mid stride, eyes widening, almost awestruck. "Mama?" she questioned the larger mare coming to a stop to meet her foals gaze. "Yes my dear?" she cooed in reply "Whats that fluttery thing over there?" Annabelle looked back to her mother, who to her was the wisest amongst the wise. Shoshana let out a teasing chuckle "Why Annabelle, that is a butterfly." Shoshana knew the foal would want to investigate so she sat back telling the foal she may proceed.

Cauciously Annabelle wiggled over to the bright blue "flutter-thing". "Will it hurt me mama?" She asked ready to run at the slightest hint of danger. "It won't do anything but fly around and amuse us Annabelle. Go along..." Annabelle smiled a big cheesy grin before trotting at full speed to the butterfly, she danced and nickered, kicked up her hooves and cheered. "Woohoo!" She cried aloud.

When the sun had begun to set, and the moon peeked from behind a cloud, Shoshana rose to all fours and called her daughter come hither. Tired and all played out Annabelle ran to her mothers side, walked home and happily went to sleep.

Prompt: A

"Come on, mom!" I called, rushing up ahead. Probably too far ahead, but I was feeling spunky that day. And oh, what a day it was! I hadn't been out to really play with her since forever, and I was loving it. Wait, what was that? I stopped and stepped off the path to get a better look (not that I'd really been following it anyway.) There, a few feet away, was the most gorgeous bracelet I'd ever seen. Wow, that would look great on Mommy, I thought, and stepped forward to get it. All at once I was rushed from the side by a colt, a little older than I was. He bit me, and tried to run me off the bracelet. I was hurt more than physically. "What are you doing?!" I demanded angrily. "That's bracelet's mine!" he replied, aggressively. "No it's not. It was just lying here, and what use would you have for a bracelet?!" I countered. I was so mad I wanted to hurt him, but Mom arrived just in time to stop me. "Wait a moment, honey," she told me, in a kind but no-nonsense voice. "Let's see if we can figure out what's going on here." She took a step towards the colt. "Now, tell me. Why do you want this bracelet so much?" She asked him. Taken aback by her gentle approach, he looked a somewhat startled. "I...uh...I...need it for my mother. It's her birthday,' he continued getting a little more confident. "and I really have to get her something nice this year." He looked down. "I really screwed up last year." "I understand," Mom said "but it's not okay to hurt others." "Yeah, I'm sorry. I just...was afraid she'd take it from me, and I'm running out of time." The colt was still staring at the ground. Mom looked at me. "Okay, now what will you do? I'm going to trust you to make the right choice." What a decision! I thought about it for several seconds. I wanted the bracelet, but it would make his mom happy, and he'd have a chance to make amends. Besides, he'd apologized. It hurt, but I had to say it. "He...he can have it. It's okay." The colt perked up noticeably, and smiled at me. It may have been my imagination, but I thought he was starting to tear up. He picked it up in his mouth. "Than you tho mucsth," he said as best he could with his mouth full, and took off happily. "Good job," my Mom told me. "I'm proud of you." I felt about twenty pounds lighter, which for me was a big weight. I grinned. "Let's go."
I've never forgotten that day.

The other foals grin and stare into each other's eyes. The night is cool and still. The conversation intensifies as I watch them describing their findings. Lush green trees, a roaring waterfall, an eagle like stone. Many unique features come up in their description of their secret place. I observe their faces. Everybody's faces shows nothing but thrill and anticipation. They eagerly wait to share their piece of exciting discovery. Upon their turn, their eyes light up as they begin to recount their adventure. I listen to each and everyone of their stories, absorbed into their adventure, as if i was the one who was there. Suddenly, everybody falls silent. They look at me expectantly. They anxiously wait for my tale. I do not have one, much to their disappointment. They urge me to go. Find a place of your own, they say. A place where no one else knows about. The idea is tempting. I nod, eager to experience an adventure alone.

I see the sun, barely peeking over the faraway hills. Twilight is here. The herd is still asleep. I am a short distance from our resting area. I begin my adventure. The further i put myself away from them, the thicker the trees seem to be. Their roots, gnarled and rough, twist and contort among themselves, making my trek difficult. The slippery moss does not help. A small misstep causes me to tumble and fall through the sinister roots. I misjudge the depth of the these sinister things. I stop falling and tumbling and land on the forest floor. I look up to see the gnarly roots form a dome way above my head. There seems to be gap by the side enough for an adult to squeeze through. I continue lying on my belly taking in my surroundings.

The sun breaks away from the hills beyond. It's rays penetrate through the gaps in the roots, illuminating the small clearing which i have found. Flecks on sunlight litter the floor. The roots transform themselves to thick golden threads, sheltering me from any danger that may approach. I have found what i have been looking for. I trod to the big gap and leave this wonderful haven. It will serve me as a place of comfort and a place where i would come to be alone, for many years to come.

Aras kept hearing about how his siblings were finding secret places and even dens and it bothered him a little that he hadn't found a spot that they didn't know about. He looked around casually to make sure nobody was watching and started walking towards the valley edge. There was so much out there to explore and his hoofs itched to go find it. His mother's stories encouraged his adventurous side.

With another glance back at the rest of the family, Aras went to find his own place. It took some time to find the spot. He had found one den that was large enough for when he grew up that he would still be able to stand in, but as he was about to lay down a larger animal, bear maybe, shuffled around the front. Aras didn't feel that brave and scrambled out of the den without a backward glance. The next day he found a group of trees bunched together that looked good. As he explored them, a large flock of birds landed in the branches and started cawing and squawking. With an exasperated sigh, the colt left there too.

His search took him near a large lake. He could not see the other side and at first believed he had found the sea his mother was afraid about. It was getting near dark and Aras looked for a save spot for the night. He found a cave that was high above the water, but inside there was a little pool from that same lake. There was two ways in or out, one that opens to a forested area and the other looks out to the lake. The other way blocked by some bushes, and his siblings wouldn't be able to find him. He had found his place and just as he was going to lay down near the pool, a seal peaked up from the water and gave Aras a pleasant smile.
