She stepped out from the trees, following a small brook. Her hair covered the sight of her belly bulge from her left side as she walked, tail dragging behind her as usual. She was after the clover in this field she knew to be there though hoped the frost hadn't killed it just yet. Her steps were sure and steady as she walked, though her massive belly gave her a slight waddle. Looking around, she pressed further into the open searching the sky and surrounding land. Dead grass brushed the under side of her belly, tickling it lightly and causing the foals within to protest with a kick here and there.
Pleased that it appeared to be clear and free of threat, she moved on in search of the clover, or really anything to curb her hunger. It was all worth it she reminded herself, every little kick or discomfort she felt from time to time would be well worth it all in the end. She wondered though, just where could she find their father.. and how would she go about breaking it to him in the end? Her face become a mirror showing the deep thought she was now having as she walked to where the patch she knew to be. Frosted Clover was right in front of her though her thoughts nearly kept her from seeing it. But see it she did, bending her head, she ate as she thought.

 Oracle didn't particularly care for winter. Everything seemed a little more drab, a bit more gray. He missed the deep greens of the grass and the bright colors of the flowers. At least, he thought as he looked over the horizon, on the clear days the sky was more beautiful than ever. Some Soquili assumed he would like the winter since he has a coat as white as snow. Like he belonged in it or something. But that's why he hated assumptions...about everything. He nibbled absent mindedly on some grass as he lazily paced around the clearing. It was no accident why he hang out in this spot so much... he had met a few friend here. One in particular. Thankfully it didn't take long for her to show. He smiled, remembering fondly on the times they had spent together, trotting off to come up by her side. "Shoshana..." he called as he got close, hopeing he didn't look as dumb-struck goofy as he felt sometimes when he was around her.

She looked up from the frosted over clover when she'd heard the voice and sound of hooves. " Hello Oracle, it's been a while. How have you been?" She smiled her usual smile though it seemed to glow in her face with her condition. She kept her left side to him for the time being, she didn't want to scare him off of course. Though one of the foals within pushed against the side of her stomach causing it to form a bit of a lump in that area. Forgetting the clover, she walked to meet him, leaving the caution she'd had moments ago about her condition behind her. He had to know sooner or later, she thought as she walked to greet him. "There's much We need to discuss." Her face grew slightly serious as she spoke, stopping a bit ahead of him and shaking out her mane.

Oracle kept smiling as she prances over to him. He watched her delicate expression; her cheeks had even a more rosy complexion than he remembered. The fact that she looked a bit heavier only flashed across his brain for a millisecond; he grew up around the slight cerynei, whose every ebb and flow of a few pounds was extra pronounced, and it was common that they put on a bit of weight during the winter months; food sometimes got scare so it you saw it, you ate it.
He nodded in agreement when she mentioned it had been a while. But his smile finally faded slightly as she mentioned needed to talk with him. Discuss what? They hadn't seen each other for weeks... what could there possibly be to talk about. Had he insulted her? Always a pessimist (but a hair naive), he swallowed nervously. "Okay...of course..."

Seeing the look of impending doom creep into his face, she shook her head and flashed another reassuring smile. "It would seem... um..." She found herself nervously tripping over her words now. She thought about how to do this since she'd found out about the coming foals and now found herself having the hardest time even telling him about it. "You see.. Well..." She sighed and took a deep breath to calm herself. It's be better to just tell him and get it over with. "I'm expecting foals, Oracle..." There, she'd said it now she hoped he wouldn't up and run away before she could tell him they were his.
She looked a bit sheepish and meek all at once. Usually bold as she was her voice had become soft for this last little bit. "Your foals..." She lowered her eyes a bit waiting for what he'd do next, but fearing the worst of it all. Could she manage as a single mother if he decided to walk away and refuse that she was telling the truth. Sure she didn't think he'd be so cruel as to be that way, but one never knew with males.

Oracle listened to her stumble over her words, a thousand bad and negative things spinning through his mind - but it wasn't until she actually said the words that he realized what she meant. She was pregnant... His eyes grew large as he took a step back. "Oh..."
But if course, he instantly assumed someone else's. In the short time they had been apart has she really managed to find someone else? And have their foals. Life a knife in the heart it was... so fast, he had thought they might be on their way...
But then.... then she said they were his. It was like he was looking at his reflection in a frozen pond and then suddenly the ice shattered under his hooves and he was plunged into icy water.
After all... it made sense. Why hadn't it occurred to him? He wasn't a fool, of course, he know how foals were made. And yes, technically, they did... well, that... but he never once thought, for a second, that she might actually...
"My gods..." he breathed, still reeling from the revelation. "You're... ah.... and they're ... they're mine? Really? Are you sure?? Maybe you just, ah.." he looked down at her feet, "Ate too much clover and fell ill..."

She shook her head softly. " No, I'm not ill... Bloating never allows you to feel life wiggling or pushing against your side." She Twisted her neck enough so that she could nudge the bulge in her side that had been made by a foal who was obviously attempting to gain more room. The bulge soon fell back leaving her side smooth and round rather than looking like a lump on an even larger belly.
She turned her head back around to look at him. "I'm quite sure they're yours after all.. Um.. well I didn't do that with any other." She chuckled some. Yes she knew how foals came about and while she's met several other soquili in the lands she'd only met a hand full of males and none of them had gotten that far with her. They had to be his, of this she was certain. "I understand if you're.. um.... not really ready for this responsibility, But I thought you should at least know that your were going to be a father."

Oracle watched intently, both a little nauseated and infatuated. His ears pressed down hard against the back of his head as he looked between her side and her face, his mind racing a thousand miles a minute.
He swallowed as she explained. He knew... just somehow knew they were his, too. At least she didn't sound agry.
"Gosh, Shoshana...." What should he do? Comfort her? Run away? "I sure don't know if I'm ready for this or not...." He looked her over again, giving her a re-assuring smile, "But I'm not gonna leave you alone for this. After all, it's kind of my fault, huh?"

She smiled in return. "Well.. it does take two so the blame's not all yours." It helped to comfort her if only a little to know that He didn't plan on just abandoning her. Though she did know that some males really did just run when the deed had been done. "Thanks, I can't say I'm very angry though.." She turned and began walking, motioning with her head for him to walk along side her as she spoke. "I was quite surprised and maybe a bit shocked but after I felt them move for the first time.. I couldn't help but to be happy." She chuckled some. "I guess it probably sounds a bit odd to say that I'm not entirely upset about such a happy accident?"

He followed after her, keeping close to her so he pressed slightly up against her. She was so warm.... was it because of the life inside her. "I'm glad you're not angry with me," he said, sighing a bit in relief. "I shouldn't... I mean, perhaps -we- shouldn't have... you know? Without knowing each better. I always thought I'd be older... " he glanced over at her, "But you're right. A happy accident... so you can really feel them moving and stuff in there?"

She nodded in agreement. "Perhaps, but what's done is done. We can't very well turn back the sands of time." It was true she'd always expected to be older before having a family of her own, but such things mother nature usually had her own agenda for. She smiled even more and stopped with another nod. "Yes I can, Actually if you press your muzzle to my side you should be able to feel them. They've been so active lately so it shouldn't take much for you to feel them." She nodded her head, offering him a chance to see for himself. "You don't have to press very hard but firmly should be enough to feel them moving about." Another wiggle and a kick caused her smile only to grow and flood her eyes with light. She'd have to take him back to the warmer thicket she kept to herself as her safe place just so he'd know where to find her.

Oracle looked down at her belly a bit uncertain. "I don't want to hurt you...." But she looked so confident and so radiant...
He took a breath and pressed his muzzle, a bit chilly from the winter winds, against her side. He inhaled and closed his eyes, taking in her scent as he pressed against her skin. It took a few moments, but just before he started to feel silly, he felt it; a little bubble, then a nudge back against his nose. Subtle, but at the time explosive.
Oracle surprised even himself as he felt a huge smile break across his face. He stayed there for a moment, feeling her skin against his, before pulling back and stepping back up to her side. He nuzzled her cheek affectionately, at a complete loss for words.

She smiled and nuzzled him back in return. She didn't know what this path would lead them to from here but at least he was traveling it with her. She gave a slight shivered as a breeze picked up bringing a slight bite of the chill with it. "We should get out of the open, and from this chill. It'll be warmer at the den." She started walking once more, heading for the tree line and to the hidden area that was her safe haven. " I hope you don't mind the walk.. it's a bit of a stretch of the legs from here and kind of hidden." She looked ahead of her as she walked, her ears perked and listening for any changes around them. "You'll need to remember how to get there after all, and it can be a bit tricky to find if you're not shown the way."

"Of course..." he hadn't even realized the breeze had picked up, too preoccupied with news. "That... sounds nice actually. To be honest, I don't really have anywhere else to go..." He looked at her and smiled again, "I'd rather be with you anyway..."

She showed him the way there, stopping only to point out to him how to find the game trail that led past the tick bushes showing the way in. Through the secluded thicket, and into the small hidden area that had a pond to it's self and her den. " My friends all know how to reach me here and now so do you, you're welcome to stay here if you've no place else to go." She smiled and ducked into her small den that over looked the quiet area, snuggling down to get warm in the dry grass she'd collected for bedding. She'd thought ahead and wanted to be warm this winter. Then again the grass also doubled as a food source in the thick of winter when things got too scarce to find.

The days passed rather swiftly for them, and soon they had three foals tucked safely away in their baskets to look after. She nuzzled each one lovingly, situating them so they'd be close and warm against her. She'd had minimal complications which was a relief for her since she hadn't been able to send for Kisha, her dear friend to play mid wife. Nickering, she called out from inside the den, beckoning Oracle to come meet their children.
