It was a fairly clear night, though crisp and cold. A cloaked figure found their way to Madam Isley's shop encouraged by the light in the window. It had been a long time since Tridya had knocked on this door but there were things she wanted to talk to the sage older woman about. She rapt lightly on the door while trying to keep her cloak wrapped snug around her body.

There was the sounds of things unlatching before the door creaked open and a cat dashed out past Tridya's skirts.

"Come in! Come in! I've been waiting," the dark haired lady resident who answered delightfully ushered her new guest through the open door. "No escort though? How did you ditch them this time?" Isley chuckled as she joked with the lady of some status. "Hurry hurry, don't want you to catch this chill that's out there now do we?"

"It's amazing how frail most of them think I am." Tridya said as she came inside and then turned down her hood. She was wearing some of her old clothes before she had been married. "Lady Isley I hate to bother you this late at night but I need your insight. I grow very tired of members of the court pestering me to step down or find a new husband since it is clear to them that he is not coming back." Tridya said looking at the fortune teller. She couldn't say that she was fond of her husband but she wasn't at all comfortable with the pressure people were putting on her.

"The deception proves itself useful, yes," Isley said as she offered a hand to take Tridya's cloak. "And it is no trouble at all, Tridya. You know how I work here so there is nothing that is troubling. However, are you looking for a solution to shush those of the court? To leave the court entirely? There are many questions that could come from the predicament you describe."

Tridya turned over her cloak to Isley before answering. "To be honest...when I first was married I had no real desire to be there other then to help my parents. But now they have pretty much stopped talking to me at all. I think that I could do a lot of good if I stay in the court but I do not think there anyone out there that I would want to marry again. And actually I believe that my husband is not dead. I think a dragon bound him." She had been thinking a lot about these things on her way here and before. It had been puzzling her for some time now.

The well-made cloak took its throne upon a hook just offside the doorway.

"Take a seat, m'lady before all that pressure forces you to," Isley motioned toward the next room where there were a few chairs distinctly set up so that it was easy for at least two individuals to converse in no matter where the first person sat.

"But amidst all that, the court, your parents, the thought of your husband, what is it that you want to accomplish? What do you want to do?" Isley brushed off her skirts as she entered the sitting room. "Even I cannot help someone who does not know what they want help for. Starting with, would you like something to drink?"

Tridya smiled as she followed Matilda into the sitting room. "Something warm would be most welcome. Thank you." She took a seat in one of the comfortable chairs and thought for a moment or two about what had been asked. "I want to help the people around here. I have lived on both ends of the spectrum. I have seen how both rich and poor live. And I think there is more that I can do to help make sure that the poor don't starve or have to steal food to live. And to very honest I don't like Baroness Yvette. She doesn't care about her people. She claims to but I don't she really does."

From the hearth, Isley retrieved a kettle of heated tea, carrying it over to a couple of mugs without handles. Whiffs of steam drifted into the air from either mug's mouth, a small stir spoon being added to each with a light clang off their sides.

"But that first means keeping your position. If the rest of the court is murmuring for you to remarry, does that mean you do not have an heir yet?" Isley asked as she stirred the contents of each cup once after taking a little bottle of something and placing a drop in each. "Even if what you say about your husband is true, if he did happen to be bound, then I will not slink around the fact that he may as well be dead in your situation. If the binding was not against his will, he would have returned I would think if he was of worth."

She picked up the small tray and carried it over to Tridya, holding out a choice of cups.

"no there are no heirs. And I agree with you about if my husband is bound." Tridya said as she took one of the cups carefully. She held the mug in her hands with her eyes closed. She always felt very comfortable around Madam Isley. It almost felt like she was an aunt Tridya could always go to for advice.

She opened her eyes and looked to the fortune teller again. "A lot of those telling me to remarry are power mongers. There are a few in the court that think I have doing well on my own. And I know that moral among the servants has been up."

The strong scent of herbs and mint wafted upward even from where it sat in Trydia's hands, warmth soaking into fingers in contact with the glazed container.

"If you are tiring of those speaking against you, then you have a few options," Isley said as she carried the tray and remaining cup back with her to another small table. "You can do away with said mumblemouths and simply remove them in whatever fashion you deem appropriate. Then there is marrying a man to whom would be your puppet, someone with no family ties and no inspiration. Especially if he should bring you a male child."

Isley took her chosen seat and picked up her aromatic drink.

"But as said before, you've presented many things that you want. Which is most important to you, however? You haven't said."

"Helping those that struggle the most. That is the most important thing to me." Tridya said after letting the soothing scent and warm mug seep into her bones. She looked at Isley with her grey eyes. "And I would be more then happy to remove those trouble makers. I just need ideas. I don't fancy the idea of taking a puppet husband. If I marry again I want it to be for better reasons."

"Shall I assume you mean the peasantry? Those who struggle most may be not who you always think they are," Isley said before she took her first sip. "I've always told you that you need to be more decisive, more confident, Lady Tridya, and I mean that in no light matter. If there is one thread to take from the Baroness Yvette's style, it would be that."

Isley set her cup upon a saucer in her other hand with a slight click of porcelain before adjusting her glasses in the lamp lit room. "Some of your complaining court may choose their words and their timing more carefully should you do that... unless you wish to hear the careless thoughts they let slip. Sometimes it can be useful," Isley said with a grin before lifting the mug again to her lips.

"Actually the street urchians mostly. I think it would keep crime down if someone helped the youth of this area by making it so some of them don't have to steal for food and to live." Tridya said. "As for being more decisive...well I am still learning but I think I am getting better at that." She paused and stared into her mug at the brew inside it. "I have a feeling that something is going to happen soon and I have no idea what."

"Then do what you need to do to help them. In fact, give yourself a few projects so as to divert attention from yourself to them more so. As long as some of those projects make your court some currency as well, then you will hear little gossiping at all unless someone is more in for the position instead."

Isley set her mug down on its small plate and folded her hands in her lap. "Is this feeling why you have really come to see me, Tridya?" she smiled. "Your court troubles always do cloud your thoughts so much before your visits here. So what will it be this time? A reading? Just putting things to the air?" Isley delicately picked up a white candy stick that was sitting to one side of the tray and placed it in her drink.

"I know I can trust you." Tridya said looking at the fortune teller in all seriousness. "Would you be able to do a reading? Your's are more accurate then any other. I need to know if this feeling has merit or not."
