Does anyone know what I mean?
Like, I have friends, and they all basically share my same sense of musical tastes, but much to their dismay, I happen to be the only one who enjoys Lady Gaga. Most of them make it seem like a personal defect that I enjoy Gaga's music, made a custom outfit like hers' for one of my final high school events, own all of her vinyl records, and have gone to see her twice... but at the end of the day, her music simply makes me happy.
I guess, out of sheer curiosity and to spark a convo in hopes of reviving this forum, I'm wondering if any of you often feel outcast for enjoying Lady Gaga's music when compared to your social circle(s), or if you know anyone of the like?

I TOTALLY feel like that! I think I'm the only little monster in my school stare I don't know how people can't appreciate her music or at least who she is

Believe me, tons of Gaga fans probably feel this way. It's almost as if there were a set of thought patterns that were so similar for a given amount of time .. and then Gaga came out.
I still don't see why they can't understand why we like Gaga. I enjoy Hip-Hop, Rock, Pop, and electronic as well as many of my friends. I think they can't accept some other aspects of what Gaga represents, so even then, it's not about the music.
At the end of the day, it's the same as debating and arguing about why we feel the way we feel: it's useless. We like certain types of music because it clicks that way for us. Preference.

Well I've been on both ends of the spectrum I suppose. I have a few friends who accept that I enjoy the music of Lady Gaga, and then I have those few friends that absolutely despise her, as if she's personally attacked her in some way. They do nothing but trash talk her and bring up the same old comments every time, and it's also like a detriment to me, as a fan, when they say these things.
I guess I just get upset when the haters become more vocal and physical AGAINST what I like (and dislike) as opposed to me showing interest in it in the first place. It's like eating pizza and having them go "what's that? Pizza? But that has cheese... Cheese!... CHEEEEEEESE!?!?!?!" and things start exploding. And apparently, along with these stipulations, no heterosexual male can like Lady Gaga. v_v
I agree with you, though, Ninjaboyjeff, when at the end of the day, it's all relative. Not everyone likes syrup on their ice cream, not everyone uses a pencil to draw, and not everyone has a poker face.
