Web Comics

Ah, MegaTokyo.com. The first webcomic I ever read, and one of the best reads on the internet. It's a story that develops from the adventures of two die-hard gamers, Piro and Largo. There are many characters, but to keep this to the point I'll keep it to the main ones, Piro and Largo.
They are two Americans who, through the engineering of Piro (Weird because he's usually the sane one), become stranded in Japan. Piro is a quiet, reserved, and emotionally deep character responsible for forwarding much of the story line and philosophical deviations. Largo is large, humorous, and all around crazy. He is the complete opposite of Piro, and gets into all kinds of mischief. Together, they have one common trait, the love of video games. This comic is a must read for anyone who loves anime.

I found this site by accident when I was looking for a world map for my FF1 (Final Fantasy 1) game. Based on the character icons of the hit game, I'd have to say this is one of the funniest comics around. It's a completely off the wall comic about six adventurers: Theif, Black Mage (BM), Fighter, White Mage, Black Belt, and Red Mage. They blunder through a typical fantasy world, acting as the Heros of Light. However, Black Mage and Theif are prone to committing wanton atrocities, and the catastrophes that ensue are hilarious. Anyway, read the comic for yourself, you'll be glad you did. ^^

The artwork on this site is amazingly well done. I simply love the style of it. But it isn't just the art that makes this a great website, it's the characers and storyline too. The main characters, Serenity and Tess, are similar in many ways to Piro and Largo of megatokyo, with Serenity being the quiet, deep, introspective type, and Tess being the brash, crazy entertainment. However it goes beyond that, for Serenity is a witch, living in a world where magic and fairy tale things are rare, yet part of everyday life as well. Goblins roam her hometown freely, and vampires lurk in the shadows. The comic is an excellent story, and while the site only hosts two full comics and a Halloween Special, more can be had at your local comic book store.

Heh heh, I love this web comic too. blaugh Very light hearted comic about a DDR tournament in Hawaii. Several teams are competing for the $10,000 award money, and the interaction and play of characters is the soul of this comic. Every character is unique, different and important. Even people not familiar with DDR can catch on pretty fast and learn to love this comic. I'd say the artwork is worth it too, the style is hard to get a grasp of at first, but eventually the colors become an excellent way of conveying the mood of the story.

Resources

Ever wondered what Ska or Emo music was? Maybe your sister's been spouting words you half expect she doesn't know the meaning to? Well, urban dictionary is an excellent resource for slang. All the words you can't find at dictionary.com, you can find here. wink

User Image

A free online dictionary with nearly every English word imaginable. From "Defenestrate" to "The", it's an excellent free online dictionary. Great for helping with those term papers. -_-

I love CNN. It's like a web comic, except it's updated every day, and it's all true (thoguh sometimes biased xd ). Everything from the "Presidential Campaign" to "Russian nudists hit by lightning", can be found here.

User Image

One of the single most reliable news coverage sites around. Internationally acclaimed and available in 48 different languages; it's a great way to cross reference any bias in the CNN articles because it's a British news site.

-Misc.-

-Yahoo can die and burn in hell. Ever since it bought out Altavista.com, there have have been no new features, updates, anything. The bastards are heartless, and destroyed my favorite search engine. Now I have to resort to google.com. sad

-Still working on the links section, and the rest of this thread. People can post though. I only expect to use the first three or so posts.

I believe I bought an Oct. Letter or Oct. item from you once, though I can't remember exactly now. o.O Your name is in my list of completed trades a few times. Since the guilds have opened up I've been spending most of my time in them instead of the main forums. I like it better in here. 3nodding
