Malodore didn't need to eat, not really - while it was technically undead, it wasn't driven to dine on brains and offal like zombies. In fact, it avoided brains on principle.

But the Creepateria did have some interesting dishes available, some of which made excellent additions to Malodore's experiments. So the plague doctor had grabbed a tray and obtained a few Jollymeals, and was even now preparing to slit one of them open with a scalpel, right down the middle of it's grinning skin-paper face.

Yum.

Likewise, Ziyah Karenlya did not eat. At least, not often. She simply did not feel the need, and therefore never remembered to do such a thing unless it was straight in her face.

But eventually, in her wanderings, she'd reached the Creepateria. She might as well, then ? After all, she'd need to meet the other students sometime.

A few minute later, she had her own tray, and she walked, scanning the tables for a free spot.

"Ah..." She asked Malodore once she was near him. "Do you mind if I sit here ?"

Hey, she could be polite. When she remembered to be.

Malodore glanced up, pulling the scalpel away from the Jollymeal as it did so. That was... odd, being asked if it could be sat next to while it was engaged in this particular activity...

But this was a ghost, and therefore un-vivisectable. And her glow might provide additional illumination for its studies! Thus, the plague doctor nodded. "Please - if you don't mind my continuing with my... examination." It indicated the scalpel.

Oh, candlejack. That accent. That accent. Ziyah had no idea that it was italian, all that she knew was that it was really, really sexy.

+1 right there.

The wisp sat at the seat next to its own, not seeming bothered in the least by the fact that it was about to cut the poor... thing open, one booted leg folding over the other idly.

"What are you doing ?" She asked, honestly curious, in a way that lacked any kind of alarm. Probably due to the fact she was very much lacking in ways of insides. Well, of course she had an idea of what it was doing - but not why.

Malodore turned its head and studied its new companion more closely. Curiosity was, it supposed, one possible reaction to its studies, but it wasn't the usual one. Most people tended to back away slowly.

Refreshing!

"The meals they serve here often contain interesting specimens. Acquiring them can be a bit messy, so..." It lifted the scalpel, though not in a threatening manner - at least, not threatening to anything but the Jollymeal, which just kept staring forward in its frozen, maniacal manner.

"I see, I see~" Again, little in the way of alarm, and definitely no running in the nearest opposite direction. Ziyah took so very little seriously, after all.

"So you are... some sort of scientifist ?" She continued to ask. This was the first student she had met more than in passing in the halls. It was all so interesting ! The wisp seemed to have completely forgotten her own plate of food in favor of the more interesting Malodore. "Im... not too sure what I am. But ill figure it out !"

"A doctor, actually," Malodore supplied. "By species and by trade, if not officially. Yet." The glowing ghoul was surprisingly unflappable... which, itself, called for experimentation. Hm.

Malodore lifted the scalpel and brought it down on the Jollymeal at last, slicing it right through the center of its crazily grinning face, its movements a bit more theatrical than was strictly required. The covering flopped to each side of the cut, face neatly halved.

It was a challenge to scare Halloween creatures, but grossing them out could be a bit easier.

That was a little theatrical, wasn't it ? Oh, was he putting on a show just for her ?! Amazing !

"Oh man, that spewed everywhere !" She didn't sound grossed out in the last - in fact, she had the same kind of tone of an impressed little kid who thought this s**t was awesome.

Well, that s**t was awesome. So there.

... Huh. Malodore shrugged, then nodded at the ghoul appreciatively. "You have a taste for the medical arts? My name is Malodore, by the way."

It carefully plucked the wrapper free; the contents appeared to be a normal-looking hamburger. "Now, let's see... hmm... ah!" The scalpel winked forward and prodded the burger in the bun. Immediately, arms erupted from the meat, and the meal began shrieking bloody murder at the plague doctor.

Fortunately, since it was a hamburger, it was incapable of doing any actual harm.

"I don't know." Ziyah replied all too cheerfully. Uh ? "But this looks interesting. It's fun to watch you do it, you really know what you're doing and it shows."

It finally seemed to dawn on her that she making little sense. "My name is Ziyah. I don't know much, I only just... recently came here." She shrugged. She wasn't losing any sleep over it, that was for sure. "The reaper that took me here said it was normal that I was a little... confused."

She wasn't the person she used to be, he'd said. But that didn't really bother her.

She did frown a bit when the burger started screaming. "Oh, we've got a screamer."

Malodore puffed up slightly - it had been a while since someone had praised its skill! "Let's put an end to this noise, first," it said, a little more loudly to be heard over the continued outraged shrieks of the hamburger.

All it took was one more cut, quick and fast, and the shriek turned into a burble that turned into a pair of plops as the hamburger was bisected, the halves falling away onto the remaining Jollymeal wrapper.

Much better.

"Ah, you were brought, not born?" it said, in a conversational tone, as it turned half of the former hamburger towards it, leaning in to eye the innards. Most hamburgers didn't have fully-formed organs... "Interesting."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 29, 2010 8:49 pm

She was glad when the noise was over, really - so far, it had been the only part of the process that had even the slightest negative effect on her. She wasn't even sure if she could scream that high if she tried.

Thankfully for Malodore, she wasn't inclined to try to figure it out at that moment. She shifted, putting her leg down and then the other over it.

"I was brought here. I don't remember much of the trip." She'd been even more confused that she was now, and that was a little hard to imagine. She peered toward the now split hamburger. "How did they fit all that stuff in there ?"

"I take it you've never met the lunch lady? She is a... formidable woman." That was an understatement. Malodore lifted up what looked like a tiny liver (?!) and a string of six wee kidneys (?!?!?!) with the blunt edge of the scalpel. "This could have been grown in a vat... though it would be more interesting if it wasn't."

It glanced up at Ziyah. "What was it like, being brought here? I was born, so..." It shrugged, the metallic 'feathers' on its spine clinking together with the movement.

"Well... no." Ziyah admitted, eying back to the kitchen with open curiosity. Maybe she should, but then Malodore caught her attention again before she could dwell more on it.

It caught back her attention with a rather complicated question indeed, and her booted feet started to tap against the leg of the chair. Tap, tap, tap, along with her thoughts.

"I really don't remember much." She had no shame in admitting that - why should she ? "A reaper found me... in the human world, he said soon after the human-me died." She had a strange look in her face, as if she had issues believing she had even been human of all things. She would remember something so strange, wouldn't she ? "He said that I should come here, that they'll teach me everything I need to know, so he left me here. I kind of miss him."

He had been cute, after all. And kind to her. "The rest is kind of a... confused blur. He's the thing I remember the much, but I don't think he gave me his name..." Or maybe he had, and she had forgotten.

"An odd concept, dying," Malodore remarked. It was technically undead, so it had never really lived, at all. Not technically.

Though it assumed the hamburger was now pretty much dead, if it had been alive to start with. The plague doctor laid the kidney-string to one side and cut into the bun, which oozed condiments through the wound. "I don't see many reapers. They take mostly courses I can't. My specialty is medicine, not magic."
