Weeks had drifted by without so much as a whisper from the demon like stallion's mistress. Thank goodness. He hadn't heard of her ever since her recent request. The horrendous task of unnecessary murder, and upon a basket no less! That was when he cut her out. That was the defining moment where he said 'Enough'! Though Kore wanted her wickedness gone it had been a difficult transition. From having somebody always there with you and never feeling lonely to becoming the most lonesome creature in all the lands. What Kore didn't know was that he had always been alone.

His mistress was just a just a figment of his imagination. An imaginary friend if you will. Somebody who he never saw, but often heard. It was a sort of survival mechanism. Creating somebody out of thin air to comfort and teach him the correct ways of living after being abandoned as a helpless basket. Most others steered clear of him and his odd and demonic appearance and the rest of the time his mistress ordered him to avoid the public eye. 'Stay in the shadows where you'll be safe', she said and like a good obedient boy he was Kore listened. That was in the past though. He had shouted her away after her cruel request.

However, now he was craving something. Hungry for what little company he had lost. Perhaps he could just snag a weak Soquili away from their daily routine. Kidnap them and keep them company just for a while. Just enough to satisfy his needs. In Kore's mind, forcing a stranger to stay with him was the only way. Never would they willingly converse with such a monstrosity as himself. At least that's what Mistress had always told him. A wicked lie to keep him safe from the world around them. A fib to keep Kore all to herself, or rather, himself.

The insane stallion paced along the ledge of a rocky cliff, looking off from the mountain's peek at the lands below. The frigged temperatures would have most Soquili shivering at this altitude but he remained comfortable. He was used to living where the whether was to extreme for most. A way of hiding out. He collapsed near the edge, dangling his front hooves over the ledge as he peered down at the forest, wondering if maybe his mistress was out there somewhere. To bad he wasn't aware that she was closer than he thought.

'One step at a time, just take your time so as not to fall and meet your death. But what if Death were to sit at the top of the slopes? What if he were to be watching you with keen eyes and a smirk upon his face? Well if that were to be true, then a plan would have to made to cheat a way out, or say your prayer today...'

That is all the lone mare could think of as she made her way to the base of the mountains, the land that she could not say she had much agreement with. To her it left like forever and a few months since she had ever seen anything beyond the cove she called her home, for the ocean was the one true place she felt accepted, and it is the ocean she calls her 'mother',

Maybe it's because she herself is like the ocean, appearance and personality wise. Accepting of all, but also violent and judgmental when such attitudes decided to trigger and take over. It was sad to say the mare rarely ever remembered anything during such times, for reasons unknown to her or anyone. But like any storm it could vanish just as quickly was it started, and also leave its mark on the others...

With shifting eyes Marika slowly turned her gaze upwards towards the sky above, and the mountain peek that seemed to meet it. The harsh snow bitten winds seemed to cut across her face, and pull at her dark locks like the claws of a skinwalker. So different from the feeling of an ocean's breeze and sand surrounding her hooves instead of the cold sting of snow. Sand could burn you, but only for a few seconds. Snow, well snow would numb you down and could eventually kill you if it wanted to.

Surely her harsh weathered welcome and the thoughts jumping around in her head wouldn't be a sign of what was to come, right?

Bright illuminating eyes scanned the whiteness below, as if there would be some sort of mind numbing entertainment to help fix his attention on something less painful. The thought of being alone was depressing for him since all his life he always had somebody. Well, always had Mistress. That was as close to a somebody he had ever gotten. Finally, out of nowhere though his eyes landed on a somewhat iridescent mare scaling the mountain. She stuck out like a sore thumb but then again, so did Kore in this winter wonderland.

Out of nowhere though he heard a sudden disruption in the back of his mind that caused him to wince with a bit of fear. 'Hide. Do you wanna cause the poor dear a heart attack? One glance at you and she'll be scared to death of your hideous appearance, guaranteed,' the feminine voice rang inside his head. He shook bit his lip and shook his head quickly to get the ringing out of his large bat like ears. As much as he had missed her voice he didn't take to kindly to her insults. However, it was the truth. He had seen his reflection in creeks and puddles and was very aware that he was no price charming. White the opposite in fact.

So he quickly got to his hooves, causing a bit of snow and loose rocks to tumble down the side of the mountain, landing not to far off from the young lady with raven and cyan colored hair. He cringed ever so slightly at the accidental disruption of her exploration and quickly hid himself by drawling back from the ledge. He quickly headed down and around the mountain, finding himself a cave. A shelter from the wicked wind that seemed to burn with icy vengeance. At least in here the flooring wasn't covered in a sheet of snow and his hooves had slight relief. He rested in the back, letting his limbs give out as he thudded against the ground. "I thought you left..." he spoke to his Mistress, glancing around, hoping to see a sign of her. Why did she always hide from him?

'Love, I could never leave you forever. I've so fond of you. What kind of lover would I be if I let you be picked apart by those... discriminating hags? I can never let my beloved be harmed by a cruel stranger.... even if you sorely disobeyed me.' Her voice slowly died out and Kore was left with his head hung low, glowing eyes glancing at the ground to his equally illuminating hooves that laid before him. "They were baskets... h-how could I?" he bit his lip and shook his head, "No! I couldn't have! Don't ever ask me of murder again!" he shouted, surely the echoing of his frustrated voice could be heard for a good distance. His bright eyes flickered around the cave, trying to catch a glimpse of Mistress in the shadows but there was nothing but rocks and drippings from the dankness.

"Oh dear.." The mare quickly closed her cyan eyes as the howling winds raged passed her with torrents of ice and snow. The shear force of it roughly pulled at her hair and tried its best to push her back from whence she came. But the lone mare would not have it, she stood her ground as best she could, even if the bitterness of it all felt like frozen knives slashing against her frail and numbing body. If things were this bad now, then Marika could not imagine what was lying in wait higher up. This was only heightened by the fact she had heard the higher one goes, the colder and harsher the mountains became. After all, like all mothers of the earth, the mountain was caring, but harsh. She can give life, but at the same time also take it if need be.

If the white lands were anything like her mother ocean Marika could only wonder what she would have in store for her. She was, after all, obviously an unwelcome intruder of the white lands, and it seems the mountains would not have her continue on with her unknown journey. Why, she did not know. Maybe mother mountain and mother ocean were not on friendly terms with each other. Maybe Marika had done something to anger her. Or maybe the mountains had a secret that she wished to remain a secret.

With the winds finally drying down to a calm state, the blue mare shook the flakes of snow from her body, and continued on the unwritten paths of the cliffs with careful and calculated steps. Unlike the rocks and snow that fell from the side she herself would most likely not survive the fall down. "That's probably what Mother Mountain wants anyway. I bet she is plotting to have me thrown right off-" Her sentence went unfinished as she suddenly froze in place and watched as rocks fell from above, and a small pill of snow found a nice spot on her head.

Snorting, Marika shook the snow from her head and turned an angry and confused gaze to the cliffs above her. From what she could see no life was above her, but she knew well enough nothing was always what it seemed, especially if nothing meant silence.

"Hello, is anybody there?" Nothing. Again, nothing but silence and the wind to answer her back.

Confusion, curiosity, and a pinch of fear painting its way on to her face, Marika shook the silence off and want on with her steps, but only to freeze once more. Ears perked, the mare bit her tongue as harsh echos filled the bitter air. She turned her gaze back upwards, but once again saw nothing.

Though her mind told her to stay put, or run back, she chose to disobey and ran onward along the path, even though she knew running wasn't really the best option when someone could easily fall from the side.

A cave coming in to sight just feet way from her, the mare stopped, her breath in a pant. What she would find, she didn't know, but she hoped it wasn't something that might opt to kill her for intruding further.

"...Hello?"

Kore was in a fragile state of mind. He was frightened, angered, and a little irritated by his alternate personality. How could something that didn't exist cause so much damage? The wind was whistling passed the entrance of the cave but there was one soft greeting that hardly rose above the roar. The feminine voice caused the currently timid stallion to jump out of his skin and he narrowed his angered eyes at the opening. There stood a silhouette of what appeared to be a female. Either that or a very dainty looking male. "Who is there?" he asked in his gruff and low voice. He tensed up slightly, getting ready to jump to his feet if need be.

Part of him hoped it was his mistress ready to reveal her face, and part of him wished it were the female that he had been observing off the side of the mountain. Still, there was a chance that this stranger could be somebody who he wished not to meet. Somebody who might cause him harm. He remained on the floor of the cave for now, watching from the far back in the darkness. Only his hooves and unique markings giving off a faint glow. "I suggest that you leave this instant if you intend to be cruel to me. I don't take to cruelty very well," he gave a fair warning. A warning that he believed was needed.
