It was such a peaceful day today. The internal strife that was starting to run through the pride was at a lull for now, the borders were calm, and the sky was that wonderful balance of blue skies and clouds with a breeze that carried the scent of the lake and distant flowers with it. Gaelle Isaie rest on a large, flat-topped rock she'd grown fond of napping on during her little excursions to the borders, her tail hanging off one side and swishing lazily. Even the cheerful little falcon who had become her messenger and aide was sleeping quite contently in a nearby tree, full after a good meal shared with the lioness, the bones of which were a good distance away so they wouldn't be bothered by scavengers.
Gaelle, though enjoying the quiet, wasn't tired however. At least, not to the point of sleeping. But she had much to think about, so the calm was perfect. And it allowed her to keep an ear out for those supposed 'nasty' rogues...though she'd yet to meet any rogues that meant her harm.

Alasiri looked up at the perfect blue sky, a smile lighting his eyes as he stretched out to his full length, feeling muscle and sinew pop back into place. Toes wiggled and his tail looped up proudly as the lion shook off the last of his nap.
He'd found a crisp smelling tea-tree to rest under after his lunch of young impala, the chase having worn him out, damn thing could really run. Grinning to himself, and rather pleased with life at the moment, having a full belly and a good rest, Alasiri began to walk toward the smell of water, humming to himself, a slight bounce in his step.

Blue ears pricked up and forward as a scent and sound reached Gaelle. Ah! A rogue. Well...someone was bound to come along sooner or later. This was, essentially, the rogue lands after all. And the fools who were SUPPOSED to be keeping the border well marked weren't doing a very good job lately. The lioness sat up, shaking herself and then putting her fur quickly back into place.
And then called out once the rogue came into view. "Good day, sir!" If he was one of those supposed 'violent rogues'...well, she was within easy distance of running for help.

Alasiri looked up, the hum dying on his lips, at the sound of a light, clear voice. He blinked his violet colored eyes, surprised for a moment, then gave a warm smile to the rather attractive lioness sitting on a large rock above him.
" Well, hello," he said in a friendly voice, sitting down, white tipped tail coming to settle around his front paws, his expression friendly, not wanting her to think him a threat.

Another friendly one, perfect! Gaelle's smile was more than just polite now...it was amiable as well. "It's always nice to see a new face. What brings you this way on such a nice day, m'lord?" Some rogues might think her speech...formal, but that was simply how Gaelle was raised. There was only ever three creatures she felt she could speak to with no formality whatsoever.

A deep rumbling chuckle bubbled up from the male as he grinned at her, " You've got me mistaken my lady, I am not a lord. A warrior maybe, but that warrants only a sir, and only upon occasion. As for what brings me this way, well..my nose."
He wrinkled his nose at her, making the fur along it dance comically, " It was heading me toward water..or at least I hope it was."

"Sir, than." She laughed softly and moved from off of her rock, sitting on the ground now. "I am Gaelle Isaie. And it's likely the lake you smell. It's the largest body of water around here, and the winds often blow the scent outside of the land that immediately surrounds it. I know where there's a stream nearby, however."

The male stood and gave her a very gracious and deep bow," It is a pleasure to meet you my Lady. Alasiri at your service." He recovered himself and turned to look the direction his nose had been leading.
" Ah, see..treacherous thing that it is, my nose would have lead me a merry chase. I would very grateful if you would guide me to that stream m'lady."

"A pleasure to meet you, Alasiri." She stood, shaking some of the dirt and grass from her fur. "It also would have led you into pridal lands. I'm fond of meeting rogues, but I'm afraid many of my fellow pride members aren't quite so fond of rogues." She started for the stream, careful to make sure he was following.

" I understand, I've met a few unsavory cats these past few moons, but than again, I've also met a few who were good company for a night or two over a shared zebra or impala."
He raised one of his eyebrows, his tail curling proudly over his back as he paced beside her, falling into her stride as if he'd done in a thousand times, : May I be so bold to ask why you are fond of us scruffy Prideless wanderers?"

"I've been lucky in my encounters." She looked to him. "I've yet to encounter one of the 'violent rogues' my pride fellows speak of so often." She looked forward again. "You all have a different view on things. You see things with eyes that are not bound by a pride. Though I love my home...it's nice to hear fresh opinions that aren't weighed down by tradition."

Alasiri's deep, rumbling chuckle carried over to her again, the sound of it reflected in his violet hued eyes, " Well, I have never been called traditional. Scruffy looking, hide-blind, and a few more names not fit for polite company, but certainly never traditional."
He gave her a wink, and asked in a mock surprised voice, " Good grief? Do you think that's why I am out here?" The male clutched his front paw to his chest in a theatrical, dramatic way, " I wonder if my mother knows..."

Gaelle laughed. It wasn't loud, but it was definitely more than a laugh for the sake of politeness. "You remind me of a friend of my father's. He's one of the non-traditional sorts in the pride. And that line sounded like something he'd say." She smiled. She'd been fond of Haward. Despite being a Colonist, he was a good leopard with a good head on his shoulders.

Alasiri gave her a grin, his tail sweeping lazily back and forth as he dipped his head, " I will take that as a compliment m'lady. It has been my experience that while tradition is important to hold a Pride together, it can also stifle its ability to grow and adapt. Rather then keeping the Pride whole and hail, it suffocates it and weakens it."
As he spoke the light hearted timber of his voice changed, the tone becoming somber, his violet eyes looking away toward the east for a pace or two before returning to her, " but than again, my experiences are few."

The lioness nodded. "It was, indeed, a compliment." She watched him a moment, then stopped the stream a lion-length in front of them. "Perhaps one day my pride will see when to keep traditions and when to change to fit the new times." She smiled sadly. "A shame I'll likely not see the day come myself."
