The eggs in this clutch are gathered close together, likely laid that way or rolled that way by their Queen mother. Candidates must be careful when approaching this clutch or else run the risk of the Queen's wrath.
Deciduous Forest Egg If ever there was an egg on the sands that gave off a feeling of pride that didn't have any haughtiness behind it, this would be that egg. There seems to be nothing from this egg but general pride in itself though those feelings could easily be placed on the hands that touch it. Mixed with pride however is a new sensation of humbleness and maybe even obligation, leading this egg to promote interaction. Either a green or blue.
Deep Ocean Egg Holy Faranth! Touching this egg will gives of a feeling of extreme urgency as though the dragonet inside was in a constant hurry to do something. It's not an unpleasant feeling as the quickness leaves an overall happy sensation that this dragon is eager to please, and it's more than welcoming to hands of both genders. Likely a green or blue.
Taiga Egg Uh-oh, look out for this one. Situated a bit away from the clutch, this egg gives off a sensation that it has nothing to do with the rest of its clutchmates and is quite okay with that. Hands that meet this shell are met with feelings of impatience, though not the kind that usually comes from wanting to do something, and any repeat touches will actually yield a sense of hostility. Perhaps it is best to not linger on this egg. Likely a green.
Desert Egg Situated at the bottom of the clutch, this large egg seems to be watching over the rest of its clutchmates like a silent protector. Curious hands will find every emotion but protection as this egg gives off the feeling of ambition as well as a sort of judgement, as if the dragonet inside were appraising the different hands that grace its shell. Male hands are more welcome than female though there isn't any hostility in that regard. Likely a brown or bronze.
Lacustrine Egg Leaning on the more demure Tundra egg this egg seems almost vibrant in color. However the brightness just seemed to come from the color as the feeling from this egg is nothing short of lazy. Touching the shell can almost make anyone who lays hands on it yawn, though maybe beneath all the laziness there seems to be a calculating personality. Maybe. Likely a blue or brown.
Tundra Egg Situated in the center of the clutch but almost buried by its two neighboring eggs, this egg is easily overlooked because of its dull gray coloring and the fact that it's rather on the small side - though not the smallest egg in this clutch, of course. Curious hands will find a sensation of warmth from this egg though not much in terms of any other emotion. Perhaps this dragonet is simply waiting for the right person to come along to share its joy, or maybe it's just that lazy. Likely a green based on the size.
Alpine Egg Touching tip to tip with the Lacustrine egg, this medium-sized egg makes up the bridge between the left and right sides of the clutch. This egg gives of a sensation of well. . . .nothing. It's hard to tell what feeling is meant to be sensed from this egg as the dragonet inside is either one with a very suppressed personality or it simply isn't impressed with the candidates that touch it. Likely a green or blue.
Prairie Egg Hello there ladies and gentleman, step right up and get a feel of this egg. More than welcome to hands of any gender or age, touching this shell gives off a sensation that whatever is resting inside either really likes the company or just likes to be touched period. Any secondary touches are met with the same feeling, though anyone with a dirty hand is given more of a stand-offish moment that quickly dissipates. Odd. Likely a blue or green.
Ocean Coast Egg Perhaps the smallest egg in the clutch, this egg has been rolled fairly close to the Queen and she fusses over it constantly as though the dragonet inside needs to be cheered up. Any touching will reveal a sense of. . .well, depression. Perhaps the dragonet inside just doesn't want to come out? Repeat touches seem to be welcome, as do hands of both genders, so friendly stroking is encouraged. Likely a green.
Tropical Egg There is a cleverness about this medium-sized egg that can't be overlooked when first touched and there also seems to be a sensation of eagerness mixed in. Whatever dragonet that is inside the shell appears to enjoy giving off different emotions whenever touched, as though it were nothing more than a game to the hands that feel over it. The size of this egg indicates a blue.
- ------
"Step lively now, and remember no talking on the sands. Make sure to bow to the Queen before you get out there, and no lingering amongst the eggs. Get in and get out. Are we understood?"
The Candidatemater moved to the side to allow the flood of Candidates out onto the sands, a rather large smile on his face. It wasn't every day that a Jr. Gold rose up and had a clutch (a fine clutch in his opinion) so these Weyrbrats and everyone else deserved a chance to see the eggs and get to know the dragonets within.
"Just remember no pushing or shoving either, the eggs aren't going anywhere any time soon but you certainly can be if you're not careful. Get out there and feel away!"

Zeren stood waiting for his turn to touch the hardened eggs on the sands, he heard the candidatemaster's warning and nodded, gulping a little. The eggs looked very close together, which would make it harder for him to get a feeling from them, especially since they had to be fast.
His turn came and he took a deep breath, stepping out into the heat of the sands he approached the nearest egg, which seemed to be the Deciduous Forest Egg He closed his eyes as he touched it, he smiled at the feelings, "you'll go far with Yours" he thought to it. Moving off to the next. The Deep Ocean Egg made him gasp, "don't be too swift to crack your shell" he thought, not lingering to get a better 'feel' of this egg. The next egg was the Taiga Egg just a little way away from the others, "oh .. alright, you're better left to yourself i guess" he thought. moving towards the main group of eggs again.

His first touching, he was so nervous and excited he couldn't begin to describe it. Bow to the queen, he repeated to himself... no problem there he'd be extra careful too since she was mothering that one so closely...
He brushed his hand cautiously first over the Deciduous egg, it was such a strange and curious sensation to feel emotions from it that he had to grin, to feel...personality though it was beyond words. you'll like this wyer....we can't wait to meet you[/].
The Deep Ocean egg made him blink in surprise at its enthusiasm, whomever impressed it might very well have their hands full. What boundless energy!
The Taiga egg left him a little uneasy, What had it so impatient, was it just ready to hatch or was there something more... You'll find yours I know you will... he thought.
The Desert Egg left him awed, ambitious but judgement at the same time, and so large... You'll make everyone proud...I know you will
He wasn't sure what to think about the Lacustrine egg, He had to stifle the yawn it brought forth but the feeling that it was calculating made him suspect a smart dragon within.
The tundra made him stop maybe a little over long in surprise, he expected the same rush of feelings as from previous eggs but the dull grey shell was simply warm, not the smallest egg but he wondered at its quietness... Hello!... we can't wait to meet you was all he could think to say to it, at least he didn't stutter in his thoughts.
After the Tundra egg he shouldn't have been surprised at the Alpine egg but he was still, were they simply both reserved? Or was it more that they were holding their 'breath' and waiting. //You'll find someone here...I'm sure of it.// he thought, because after two quiet eggs he was a little anxious that he had done something wrong.
The Prairie Egg made him smile, the welcoming feeling made him think of the smiles of the people in the kitchens...well, so long as you didn't get underfoot.
The Tropical egg was the nest to last one he touched, it seemed so playful he was actually a little nervous of it. But playful wasn't bad now was it, Like climbing trees and the like.
He approached the Ocean egg last and his brow furrowed Don't be sad... he thought with a worried careful glance at the queen. your mother is beautiful, you will be too... and you'll find 'yours' and you'll both be so happy...
He bowed to the queen and gave a nervous smile to Inaari before carefully hurrying off the sands not wanting to linger and find himself in trouble.
He wondered already who among the candidates would impress, and was so happy for his friends.

Ashmere rubbed her temples as she mentally repeated the Candidatemater's words over and over again, besides from the almost nauseating feeling planted in the back of her stomach the young Harper was extremely confused as to why she was attending the ceremony. There had to be some sort of mistake, there was no way that they really thought that she was destined to be a rider. It had to be some sort of mistake, but regardless if it was the wishes of those around her she would proceed and be as respectful to the Queen and her eggs as any actual candidate should; this experience would make an amazing song.
Keeping her back straight Ashmere smoothed out the robes she was wearing as she gazed at the warm sands, her gray eyes slowly trailing over the eggs, a small impish smile spread its way across her pale face as she felt her heart skip a beat.
'My Queen, it is a great pleasure to be in your presence as well as having the honour of being consider to be worthy enough for one of your children.' Mentally worded the young female Harper as she directed the comment towards the Junior Gold.
Waiting until it was her turn Ashmere slowly set foot onto the heated sands, she was nervous and her stomach once again gave a tremble, this was her first time on the sands, her first time of being a candidate, it wasn't until she was standing close to the eggs did she realize, there was no mistake; she was meant to be exactly where she was.
Bowing deeply towards the Junior Queen Ashmere briskly approached the first egg of her choosing the Deciduous Forest coloured egg. With a tender touch the short haired brunette slid her left hand along the hardened shell, instantly tears welled up in the corners of her gray eyes, she had never experienced anything like this before in all her turns. The sensation of pride welling up from the egg made the small framed brunette smile down at the unhatched dragonet.
'You are amazing, I hope that you find Yours. And I wish you nothing but the best.' Directed Ashmere as she felt her leg buckle ever so slightly, reclaiming herself quickly she pressed on to the next egg in turn, the Deep Ocean coloured egg.

It was Touching Day.
It was Touching Day!
By the time Andeon arrived at the sands, each of his cheeks bore a set of bright red handprints. They were souvenirs from some of the lovely ladies of Malvren Weyr, who he had informed via demonstration that it was, in fact, Touching Day!
Oh, how Andeon loved Touching Day.
He had been to such an event before, one for every clutch from the day he had come of age. He had been equally excited then, and turn after turn of leaving the sands empty-handed had done nothing to diminish that childlike anticipation. Andeon looked forward to the Touchings almost as much as the Hatchings themselves; through the eggs he got a tiny glimpse of what it might feel like to someday be a dragonrider. It was a life he still hoped for, though he was well aware that history might very well repeat itself, leaving him standing alone until he passed the age of Standing.
It was a risk he was willing to take. If one never tried, one could never do anything.
“Ianath!” Andeon blurted the Queen's name out exuberantly, practically falling over as he bent his tall, thin frame in half in an awkward bow. There was no mistaking the respect there, even if Andeon followed it up with that stupid grin of his, “You've given us an astonishing clutch, even if it was fathered by a Benden bronze.” Andeon winked, thankful that the large, hulking father-to-be was not present. He nodded to Inaari, then to the Candidatemaster, and all but threw himself in youthful excitement towards the eggs.
It was the Ocean Coast Egg which he came to first, simply because it was the closest after he had paid his respects to the clutching Queen. It was a tiny thing, and certainly a green, but the way it seemed to want to hide behind Ianath caught Andeon's attention and held it firmly. His first touch brought him a wave of shyness and depression, the sadness so staggering that he actually pulled his hand away out of sheer surprised. Thick, red brows arched halfway up that pale and freckled forehead, and Andeon gingerly placed his hand back upon the shell.
“Hey now,” he murmured encouragingly as his touch was met with the same withdrawal, the same shy hesitance, as though the dragonet inside was afraid of hatching. Frustration overwhelmed the young man, and he dropped to sit Indian-style there on the sands, keeping that reassuring hand upon the shell. “What's wrong, little lady?” He whispered, pressing his ear to the egg as though he half-expected to heard the dragon inside respond. “Don't you know who you are, hm?”
He waited for an answer. Of course, there was none to be heard, only that same sad feeling. “Apparently you don't.” Andeon gave the shell a gentle, reassuring pat.
“Let me tell you who you are, darlin'. You're a dragon of Pern, no matter how small, and you're going to come out of there on Hatching Day and you're going to pick out the best rider you can find. You pick someone who is going to show you just how special you are, and then you won't need to hide behind momma anymore. Now, no more of this sulking,” he smiled, and gave the egg one last pat as he rose to his feet, “You stand up and be proud, little one. You're a Malvren dragon.”
He left the tiny egg with a hug, wrapping both arms around the shell. “You're gonna be just fine.”
That said, he moved on.

Eggs~! Adine was nearly bouncing with excitement, but only nearly, since bouncing around the eggs was probably a bad idea for any number of reasons. Her beaming smile bordered a little on ridiculous, but since there was no talking, it was the only outlet she had for her excitement in this situation.
Once it was her turn, she bowed respectfully to the clutch's golden mother before moving on to the eggs. It seemed a pretty standard group, most likely a lot of greens and blues, maybe an Atypical or two. Definitely fine by her! Anything that came out of a large egg wasn't likely to want her, unless it was a 'surprise!' dragonet who just happened to be large for its color. She kind of liked those, although the boys probably didn't quite so much.
The candidate placed her hand on the Deciduous Forest Egg first, offering it a little Hello as she did so, a greeting she would extend to every egg she touched. And what an interesting egg it was! Proud but humble, and perhaps dutiful as well? A dragon one could rely on. It was a pleasant thing to feel, altogether. You'll be a good friend to whoever Yours is, I'm sure.
The Deep Ocean Egg was quite a surprise, fast-paced and eager. Clearly, the dragon inside felt it had things to do, yet it didn't seem impatient. Just busy. I bet you'll hatch first.
The Taiga Egg, in contrast, was very impatient! With...her? All the candidates? Or just in general? Now now, she thought, patting it a little despite its clear displeasure, There's no reason to be grumpy. Cheer up!
Next she went to the Desert Egg, which was certainly better than the Taiga, but she wasn't sure she liked it much. It felt judgemental, like it was weighing her worth in some way. Not that it mattered, really - it was probably a brown or a bronze, in which case it wouldn't want her regardless. Well, whatever you're looking for, I hope you find it.
Adi loved the color of the Lacustrine Egg, but was a bit surprised when she put her hand on it. The sheer laziness was so overwhelming she had to suppress a yawn! Not that there was anything wrong with laziness, necessarily - she loved a good sleep after a long day, herself, and just might need one after this was over - but she hadn't expected it from such a brightly-colored egg. She wouldn't be surprised if this was the last egg to hatch! You've got awhile longer to sleep, but soon it'll be time to wake up. Life's waiting!
The Alpine Egg that touched the Lacustrine was difficult to get anything at all from. This one was quite the mystery, and she looked forward to seeing what would eventually break the shell. Who are you? Are you alright in there? I hope so...
And the little Tundra Egg! The other two were practically hiding it. In contrast to those, however, it was pleasantly warm, eliciting a bright smile from Adi. Hello there! What are you doing, hiding down here under those two? They don't seem like the best company, but then again, maybe you know something I don't.
She liked the Prairie Egg just as much. Such friendly feelings were reassuring, and she brushed her fingers over the egg's surface happily. Hello to you, too. I'd like to meet you properly, once you've Hatched. You seem like good company.
The Ocean Coast Egg was quite different, and her face fell for a moment. Oh, goodness me. What's wrong, honey? Adi stroked the egg gently, concerned for the little dragon within. Please don't be sad. You have a lot to look forward to, and you've got your momma watching over you in the meantime.
The girl felt a little guilty leaving the small egg behind, but hopefully it wouldn't take it the wrong way. They just weren't allowed to linger, that was all! She gave it one more glance before moving on to the Tropical Egg. Clever, eager, and yet...not taking this Touching business very seriously. Playing a game? But what game, I wonder?
And that was all. Ten eggs, and finished. A very respectable clutch though, for Ianath's first. Now it was back to waiting, hoping the when they hatched, they'd do so safely, and all find Theirs - and that maybe, just maybe, she'd be among them.

Ashmere looked down at the egg, her soft gray hues widened as she stroked the hardened shell with her left hand, such a sense of urgency from one not even hatched yet. The young Harper couldn't resist grinning at such a bundle of energy. Even on her best days when she was younger with several cups of Klah she had never had the amount of energy this little dragonet possessed.
'Goodness, little one. I hope Yours has enough stamina to keep up with you! Goodness, Hatching day will happen soon, I know you will be eager to find the one meant for you. Good luck sweet little one.'
Chuckling slightly Ashmere removed her hand and slowly padded over to the next egg on the sands, each step was proper in stride and quick, the slender woman didn't wish to anger the candidatemater or any of the others on the sand, or the Junior Gold for that matter. With replaced eagerness from the last egg she touched Ashmere slowly dragged her left palm against the Taiga colour egg. Pulling her hand away almost as soon as she touched the shell she blinked at the irritation buried within, impatient might have been a more accurate word for the unhatched dragonet, yet Ashmere still didn't wish to touch the egg again, the little one was waiting for someone and that person certainly wasn't her.
Walking from the irritated egg briskly the slender woman stopped at the next egg the Desert coloured one and for just a moment marveled at its large size, this one without a doubt would be a lovely bronze or a brown.
Stroking the shell firmly with her laid flat palm she smiled softly, this large fellow would want a male rider no doubt but still the female harper gave the yet to be hatched dragonet the respect that he deserved.
'Serve well, young sir. You will make all of us proud. And I know that you, are aware of that. Good luck.' Removing her hand from the egg Ashmere moved on with her head held high as she did so.

Maybe second time will be the charm Mercy thought cheerfully to herself as he waited in line with the other Candidate for her chance to meet the eggs, like the first time she made her way onto the sands excitement bubbled just under the surface - unlike that first time however she actually knew what to expect and wasn't nearly as nervous as she had been all hose month ago.
She waited patiently as the line moved forward, not bothering to contain the bright smile that popped onto her face when it was her turn to approach the pretty junior Gold and her clutch. Following the Candidatemaster's instructions and her own previous experience she bowed respectfully to the Queen 'thank you for the chance to see your clutch' She told the Gold sincerely before straightening and heading for the eggs
The first egg she came to seemed to be a fairly average size and mentally she judged it to be a blue or a green, upon laying her hand upon it however the sense of prise that rose up to meet her was truly wonderful - wonderful because it wasn't a vain supreme type of pride and the sense of humble duty that rose up beneath it only added to Mercy's love of the little egg. 'you will make a fine dragon' She thought to the egg, giving it a fond gentle pat before moving on.
The next egg to fall under her hand was a vast difference and she sudden;y had the overwhelming urgency to be off doing something, anything but sitting still thats for sure and she laughed slightly 'I bet you'll be a little handful' she thought to the energetic little dragonet inside 'But a nice tempered handful' she amended as the eggs seemingly pleasant nature seeped through.
The next egg seemed to be sitting off a ways from the others and upon laying her hand on it Mercy had the feeling that the egg was just fine being off by itself, it seemed a bit impatient though Mercy couldn't tell exactly what it was impatient for - perhaps to find his or her's partner? It was hard to tell and the more she lingered the more a sense of growing hostility so she hastily moved on before she annoyed the egg any further.
Moving back towards the rest of the eggs the net one he came to was a large egg - perhaps even a bronze! Sure it wouldn't want anything to do with her if it was..but it would be a nice addition to the weyr none the less and no one could say the bronze dragons weren't magnificent beasts. Laying her hands upon the egg, she could tell that she might not be the type the egg was searching for, which made sense if it was a bronze or brown like she suspected, but it felt like an ambitious little thing and she sent it pleasant thoughts before moving on to the next egg in line.
The next egg was a bright little thing and Mercy half expected it to feel as lively as the egg she'd felt earlier - so it was surprising when the sleepy but intelligent feeling roe up from the egg. Well there wan't anything wrong with being quiet she thought to the egg 'As long as you remember to move fast when you need to' She told the little dragon before moving on remembering not to linger.
The next egg was a dull grey little thing, tiny too which made Mercy think it was likely to green. nothing wrong with being little either she thought to the gray egg, at least it seemed warm though otherwise a bit laid back and hard to read.
The next egg in line was similarly hard to read - in that she couldn't really get much of anything from it. Anything at all. She din't thin anything was wrong with the egg - at least she hoped there wasn't, that would be terrible! 'I hope your alright' She thought towards the egg before moving onwards.
The next egg was a welcome relief from the more reserved ones before it and Mercy got the impression that this little dragonet just loved attention - she was more then willing to do just that and spent a bit more time running her hands along the eggs shell then she had some of the others - though conscious of getting in trouble for lingering she didn't stay too long...though she would have if she'd been allowed.
The next egg she came too looked to be the smallest in the clutch and the gold seemed particularly attentive to it which made Mercy a bit worried for it, she hoped there wasn't anything wrong with the little dragon inside and upon touching it Mercy amended her thoughts, perhaps it just needed the extra reassurance, maybe it was just worried or nervous about entering the world 'It will be okay' she told the little egg 'the world is wonderful' She assured it kindly, giving it a few reassuring strokes with her palm before moving on the last egg in the clutch.
The last egg felt like a smart little creature though at first Mercy was confused by the quickly changing emotions as she moved her hands over the shell - of course after a while she caught onto the fact that the dragonet might just be having her on a bit - what a playful little creature you are she though towards the egg before giving the clutch ad final look and leaving the sands wit another final nod of respect towards the gold.

She was nervous.
Oh god she was nervous she was NEVER nervous why of all days today would this happen? Touching day... her first touching. The eggs before her loomed with a golden background, Ianath. Tila knew the Queen because she was friends with her human, Inaari. Though to be honest, she got the feeling this Ianath was less friendly at the moment then she was usual... Her instinct was to walk in and touch the eggs, and scoot away as quickly as possible. She had dealt with over protective parents before... back home, so she knew to be cautious even now.
Taking a deep breath she swallowed her nervous feelings and grew a determined gaze. She was here to touch the eggs, not to fear them. Though... she made a point to avoid that egg right next to the queen. She seemed to be fussing over that one more than the rest. As she approached, Tila bowed towards the queen respectfully.
The candidate walked towards the egg closest to her... placing a warm hand against the Deciduous Forest Egg. Tila smiled as she felt the egg against her palm... she was told that something special happened at the touching, now she understood. Hello little one. This one would make a fine dragon... pride and dutiful, yet not stuck up about it.
The next she approached was Deep Ocean Egg , almost taking her hand away from shock as she felt it. This one seemed eager... in a hurry to please people and wanted to be free now. I hope you find yours fast. The enthusiasm still tingled on her fingers as she left.
The Taiga Egg She did not linger around for long... feeling impatience and a hint of anger, she did not want to upset the poor dragon anymore than it was.
Next she chose to approach the Alpine Egg . Expecting to feel something... anything, though being horribly disappointed when nothing came back. It was almost as if the dragon was quiet, or possibly lost in its own thoughts. Maybe it didnt like her? You sure are quiet, small one.
The Prairie Egg made her suppress a laugh, clearly this one loved being touched. She made a note to touch the egg more than once for this one, happy it seemed to adore the attention and all too willing to give it.
Some eggs already had people touching them... so she chose not to touch them all. She made a note to avoid the small egg closest to the Queen, liking her skin where it was.
Tila approached the Tropical Egg last. Though... she had to admit this one intrigued her. Either it had a sense of humor, or enjoyed playing mind tricks each time she touched it. She was intrigued, but chose not to linger just in case.... though she had to bite back the urge to approach it once again.
Ten eggs... ten wonderful, beautiful eggs. A nice clutch size from what she had read, Ianath should be proud. Her eyes too shone with pride as she walked away from the nesting sands. The dragons will soon find theirs, and maybe she... or her friends, would be among them. She would be proud of everyone either way.

The Lacustrine coloured egg caused Ashmere to lightly tilt her head, outwardly the shell seemed bright and cheerful, but would it be the same when she touched it. Laying her left hand flat on the colourful shell the female harper nodded her head, none of the soon-to-be hatchlings were what they seemed. The amount of lethargy that washed over her slim frame almost caused her to yawn outwardly but she shook the feeling off without the need to express the sudden wave of tiredness.
'A lazy one, aren't you? Well, don't be too tired when it comes time to hatch, everyone is going to want to see that cute little snout of yours. Try to not keep us all waiting.'
Leaving the brightly coloured egg and slowly moving over towards the next Ashmere paused, the next egg was dull in colour and almost hidden by its neighboring clutchmates. Shaking her head slightly the young woman strolled next to it while placing her hand on it. The sensation of warmth greeted her fingertips as she rested her palm there. The little dragonet hidden in its mundane shell didn't seemed to be a lively one, as if it was bored, yet there was very little emotion that it radiated. It seemed reserved.
'Little one, you are going to make us all proud, you are part of the best Weyr and everyone is going to love you. When you hatch maybe you will show us a bit more to the dragon you are. Right? Hm, you are a sweet little one and we will all love you no matter what.' Stepping away from the egg Ashmere didn't need to move far as the Alpine coloured next was next.
Ashmere was once again greeted with a lack of emotion, shaking her head slightly she lightly stroked the shell before simply nodding, and mentally stating a very simply comment. 'Good luck to you, make us all proud. I already know you will.'
Ambling along the sand the short haired brunette out stretched her hand as she approached the next egg in the clutch. The welcoming of the Prairie coloured egg almost made Ashmere burst into tears, never had she felt such a sense of need or want, she felt as if the little one in the egg adored her touch and craved it deeply. Sliding both hands along the shell she felt small tears leak from the corner of her eyes, she had needed that just as much as the dragonet inside of the egg.
'Thank you so much---' Ashmere mentally worded, out of all of the eggs if she wanted one, this one was certainly the one, but she knew better than to expect anything from the dragonets, they were the ones that chose whom would be Theirs and not the other way around. Quickly ushering herself to the next again she moved onward.
Wiping her eyes as she stepped next to the Tropical egg Ashmere rubbed her palms on her robes before she touched the shell of the egg. At first she didn't know what to gather from the dragonet within the egg, it was certainly a playful sort. Stroking the egg once more Ashmere smiled before she moved on to the last of the eggs, a small one near the junior queen, giving the mother of the clutch yet another deep bow of respect.
Clearing her head the slender harper edged closer to the last of the hardened eggs laying rest in the warm sands. The Ocean Coast greeted Ashmere with a somber feeling, blinking almost startled at the overwhelming sadness the little dragonet was radiating. Placing both hands on the shell Ashmere stroked the small egg affectionately.
'Poor little one, there is no need to feel so sad, I promise when you find Yours, you will be happier. You are such a sweet little one, and everyone, and I do mean everyone will love you. So no need to be sad, we are all waiting for you. Cheer up. You will see. I promise.' Removing her hands from the egg Ashmere took in a large deep breath then as instructed from earlier left the sands without looking back, yet a large impish grin was firmly set on her pale face.
'Welcome home, we all are waiting for you to make us whole.' Ashmere mentally stated towards all of the eggs in the clutch as she exited the hatching grounds.

Another Turn, another clutch, and now the beautiful eggs sat out before them on the Sands once more. Azuran always did love the Touching, as the whole experience was quite amazing, but he couldn't help but wonder whether or not he even had any business being out here Turn after Turn. If he had yet to be chosen, was it for a reason? Was he merely waisting his time along with everyone elses?
No, now was not the time for such thoughts. There were unborn dragons out there on the Sands waiting to potentially meet Theirs, and his turn was coming up. The teen stepped forward and gave a deep bow of respect to the new mother. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity. He could never tell whether or not any of the dragons ever received his unspoken thoughts, but at least the gesture counted for something, right?
As he approached the clutch, the first egg that he laid his hands upon was the Deciduous Forest Egg. The thing he felt first and foremost from this dragon was pride-- but it wasn't the arrogant sort of pride that tended to grate on people. It was almost a noble sort of pride, and there was even a sense of humility somehow in the mix. I am sure you will give Yours something to be very proud of, he thought, rubbing the shell fondly before moving on to the next.
Shards! The Deep Ocean Egg gave him a bit of a start at the sense of complete urgency it emitted. At least it was a happy sort of hurrying sensation, but it had still caught him a bit by surprise. You will be an interesting little dragon. Relax a bit though-- you won't be coming out of that egg for a while now. Still, he was looking forward to seeing what this curious little fellow would be like once he or she was out and about.
The Taiga Egg seemed rather a bit the unsocial sort, both from where it was situation compared to the rest as well as from the feeling of impatience it gave off upon contact. Likely not the super friendly sort. I'm sure you'll find that not everyone is that intolerable if you give them a chance, he thought to the egg silently before moving on to the next. No sense in lingering where he likely wasn't wanted.
Huh, the next egg was rather interesting. The Desert Egg rather felt as if it was appraising him while he caressed the shell. It also felt like the dragon inside was a rather ambitious sort, and he couldn't help but smile a little. I have a feeling you will achieve great things. You and Yours both. From the size of the egg it was likely a brown or bronze, and the personality he felt would be a good combination with such higher colors.
The next egg, the Lacustrine Egg, seemed at first touch just downright lazy. But if one paid enough attention it definitely felt like an intelligent sort of dragon. Hey, I can't blame you for just wanting to relax a bit. All of these chores and such can be rather a hassle, he remarked silently, petting the egg a bit. He admittedly had quite a bit of a lazy streak himself, so he could definitely empathize. Perhaps you and Yours will be able to get away from time to time to just enjoy the day for what it is. That would be fun. He knew a lot of great hide-out places himself, but... Well, best not to get too hopeful just yet. He gave the egg one last affectionate pat before moving on to the next.
He moved next to the small grey egg in the center of the clutch, having almost not seen it buried amidst it's brethren as it was. Upon touching the Tundra Egg, Azuran was filled with a pleasant sense of warmth. He couldn't tell much else about the dragon inside, but it was clear that it would be a very friendly and pleasant dragon. Yours will be quite lucky, he thought to the egg before moving on again.
The Alpine Egg egg was a bit of a curiosity to him, as he couldn't feel much of anything from it. Was it just a very private dragon, or was the egg perhaps a dude? Oh, he sincerely hoped it was only the first one. You may not show yourself to Me, but I do hope you are able to share with Yours a bit.
The Prairie Egg was very welcoming on the whole. It almost seemed to revel in the attention actually, and Azuran had a feeling that the dragon inside this particular egg was a very social sort. Well, to each their own he supposed. I'm glad that you are so personable at least. You and Yours will likely have good times together. It would be hard not to if the dragon and rider shared a similar vein of appreciating people and attention, right?
The next egg left him feeling... well, quite depressed. Azuran lightly pat the shell of the Ocean Coast Egg as he tried to sort out any possible reason for this level of depression. Hey, cheer up little girl-- or little boy, he amended, remembering that at this size there was the slight possibility that the dragonet inside could be an Atypical. You have so much ahead for you in life. Find Yours and be happy, yes? His encouragement didn't really seem to do much, so the teen moved on to the last egg.
Ah, the Tropical Egg was quite a pleasant change from the last one-- certainly a lot more cheerful in nature. The dragonet inside seemed clever and eager. I'll bet you'd appreciate the occasional practical joke or two, he thought with a slight smirk, running his hand lightly across the shell. You certainly seem as if you'd have the mind for it. Have lots of fun with Yours. He looked forward to seeing how this dragon turned out as well.
Glancing about the eggs one last time to make sure that he hadn't missed any, Azuran moved off to where the rest of the finished Candidates had gathered. It was another pleasant group of eggs and would certainly be another interesting Hatching. Did he have a chance this time though? Was there a lifemate for him amongst this clutch of Malvren gold and Benden bronze? Only time would tell.

Safira could feel her heart pounding, heard it loud in her ears as she gazed out at the eggs on the sand. This would be her second touching, and the young Harper felt her excitement and apprehension like a forbidden love song. She barely heard the Candidatemaster as he gave the okay to go in, and the order to be quick about.
Beautiful Queen, thank you for allowing us to touch your beautiful clutch, she thought to the Gold as she bowed, carefully stepping onto the sands and making her way to the Ocean Coast Egg. She smiled at the Queen, inclining her head to her as she placed her slightly over-warm hands on the egg. Safira gasped as she felt the sadness coming from within. Oh, lovely, what is it that makes you so sad? You are one of the stars of this show now, little one, and we all eagerly await your performance, with hearts and minds open to receive your beauty and wisdom! she thought warmly to the egg, hands stroking over it as she 'speaks.' A quick glance to how quickly the others moved from egg to egg made the young girl sigh a bit before straightening and moving away, but not before giving the small egg one last stroke of encouragement.
Next, her feet brought her to the Tropical Egg, the feeling from this egg giving the Harper a smile as she felt the clever beast that lay within. Clever, clever beauty, I feel your eagerness and meet it with my own! she thought and smiled, resisting the light giggle that bubbled up within her chest. This dragonet would be a handful to the one it Impressed, though she knew the work would be fun, and not work at all. A light stroke of the shell, and she moved on again, finding the Prairie Egg beneath her waiting fingertips. Oh ho, a show-dragon, are you? She loved the feeling coming from this one, an excitement to match her own. A few more caresses for this egg and she moved on again.
The Alpine Egg drew her next, a slight frown showing on her face at the...empty feeling coming from inside. Such a solemn and unamused dragonet you are...surely there is someone Standing that will be your match, someone to love and care for you, whether or not you feel you need it. She gave the egg a smile before her fingers slid to the one it leaned against, the Lacustrine Egg. You are a gorgeous one, aren't you? So bright in color...mm, such a sleepy little thing, she thought as she covered her mouth, stifling a yawn. She blinked then, and caught a glimpse of the Tundra Egg below it. A dark beauty, you are, waiting for the right Rider for you, yes? You'll find them, little one, have no fear.
Eager feet brought her to another egg, the Desert Egg. What a handsome dragon you'll be, won't you? She could feel the dragons preference for males beneath her hands, but couldn't resist one last stroke of the pretty shell before moving on to the Deciduous Forest Egg. A proud one you are, but rightly so, I think...you'll be a perfect beauty, won't you? She didn't realize it as she spoke, but she had begun stroking the egg with both hands, enjoying the feelings emanating from within. The Deep Ocean Egg was next, and Safira's hands trailed off of the forest to dip into swiftly running waters, bringing a gasp from the Harper's throat. My, my, impatient are we? No...not impatient. Eager. Don't worry, little dragon, we are all here waiting for when you are ready. Blue eyes slid to the Taiga Egg, and her fingers touched lightly, then drew away from the egg before touching it again, this time feeling the hostility. O-oh my...my apologies, little one...I didn't mean to disturb you. Please, take your time, we'll be waiting for you to emerge... she thought at it and quickly moved on.
One look around and she realized that she'd touched them all. Safira blinked and smiled a bit, quickly heading off the sands, but not before giving the Ocean Coast Egg one last friendly stroke as she leaves the clutch with one parting thought.
See you all on the Sands.

Bree was excited, oh so excited! It was her turn to touch dragon-eggs...now, whether she Impressed or not...was a wholly different story. She'd made friends with Inaari, Lothan - no, L'tan - and T'ron...two of whom were former weyrbrats and explained that just because you got to touch a Queen's clutch, didn't mean you automatically matched to one of the dragonets within.
But she feverently prayed that Hers would be in this clutch...having her dragon be from her friend Inaari's dragon...that would be just perfect. Being a practical girl, Bree knew better than to break rules or try to force anything. Instead, she just made sure that she was scrubbed cleanly and fresh-smelling for the Touching.
Bree stepped over to Ianath, a Queen that she had helped to bathe on more than one occassion, bowing low, her braid sweeping over her back, her shoulder and smacking her in the face. "Ianath, you've made a beautiful clutch of eggs, bright and beautiful. Thank you for letting me near you and the eggs." She then winked at Inaari, a big smile on her lips as she gave the girl a thumbs-up. Later, she would give Inaari some of the fatty fish that she knew the junior Queen would enjoy.
After her bow, Bree straightened and went to touch each of the eggs, she lingered only moments with the Deciduous Forest egg, it was prideful in a non-snobbish way, quite happy to her sensitive fingers; the egg next to it had her draw in a breath - so busy feeling!? How could an egg be so busy? So full of purpose? She chuckled and murmured soft things to the eggs, not just the two she'd touched yet, but to all of them. "Be strong, darlings...be strong and brave and beautiful like your mama - we're going to spear the skies, all of us."
She had to take a bit of a step - being short could be a problem - to touch the next egg, it seemed haughty and impatient; she touched it just once and left it alone - one touch per egg, she'd promised herself that and no more.
Each one got one, gentle press of her fingers, a brief touching of her palm against the hard curve of the brilliant shells; then she moved on. Even the interesting egg hiding behind it's mates, so cutely playing peek-a-boo got one touch. The only one that she wanted to touch a second time was the one nearest Ianath - it seemed to beg for more attention. "Sorry darling, one touch. I promised just one..." The Tropical egg would be her last stop before getting off the heated sands and skittering off to find L'tan or T'ron so she could babble excitedly...and maybe ask them if they'd help her bring some of the fatty fish to Ianath later. After her chores.

There was no Gold in this clutch. The best thing Faehari could think of for this Touching was that it was getting her out of chores. That she could get a feel for the dragonets, helping her to try and guess what color dragons the eggs concealed. Such games were amusing, especially if she could make some money from it with a wager or two. Deciding to get on with it, she gave the Queen a perfectly measured bow before weaving through the eggs.
The Decididuous egg, she decided, was rather off. How could anyone be proud and humble? It made no sense. Faehari hurrie away, not wanting to get her brain in knots from contemplating that.
The Deep Ocean egg was better, though not by much. Until life at the Weyr, Faehari had rarely had a need to hurry. Even in the Weyr she tried to move at a steady pace, so while she supposed there was nothing wrong with being in a rush, it simply wasn’t her thing.
Faehari actually sniffed when she touched the Taiga egg, the harrumphed at the hostility she felt with the second touch.
“ What are you trying to do, scare away everyone? If you scare away Yours you’ll just end up going Between you silly thing.” She muttered with a hint of scorn. It was a delicate subject to bring up, but it wasn’t that Faehari actually wanted the dragonet inside to go Between. In fact, it was almost a sort of reverse psychology, for Faehari really didn’t want the dragonet to scare its future rider. Whether or not that actually came across though was a different story.
Faehari barely brushed the Desert Egg. She didn’t need to be judged, and certainly not by an unhatched dragon, thank you very much.
The Lacustrine egg was pretty enough to draw Faehari’s brief admiration, but that was quickly dispersed when she touched it. She felt laziness was tolerable only if the situation allowed. Dragons had to fight Thread, so she didn’t she how a lazy dragon could be good. She quickly formed a similar opinion of the Tundra egg, and it didn’t even have a pretty shell.
Faehari’s eyebrows drew together slightly as she touched the Alpine egg, and then touched it again. And again. This was the first time she had touched an egg and felt nothing. Laziness was better then this, for this left her slightly worried, though she’d never admit it.
“ You better not be dead. I will be quite displeased if you don’t Hatch.”
Faehari finally, finally cracked a smile with the Prairie egg. Now this was a dragonet she could understand. Surely this one would make a good Impression and rise through the ranks. What else could be expected of such an excellent, vibrant dragonet?
The more upbeat mood Faehari had been feeling vanished as she touched the Ocean Coast egg. She frowned. What did this dragonet have to be depressed about? It hadn’t even hatched yet! The only thing she could come up with was maybe the dragonet was depressed because it hadn’t hatched yet. Pleased with the conclusion she had drawn, Faehari gave the egg a pat before heading to the last one.
The Tropical egg was… interesting. It was almost as if the dragonet couldn’t make up its mind one way or the other. She supposed it was better then nothing, or giving a feeling of laziness. Regardless, the multiple touches Faehari had given the egg had left her confused and unable to guess the dragonet’s color, thus making her slightly frustrated.
As Faehari finished, she decided that it was certainly not the most impressive clutch she had ever encountered. Hopefully it would still make for an entertaining Hatching though.
