Which are better, the variable fighters from the various Macross series or the transformable mobile suits from the Gundam series?

Well considering that I see more mobile suits blow up I'd say Macross is better rofl . However, the mobile suits are typically fighting a Gundam so its not exactly fair. Where as the Macross fighters are up against large numbers and the elites...which I want to say the power gap isn't as large (although some pilots have some insane skills...Go Rick Hunter!)

I prefer Isamu Dyson myself. He has a thing against athority, a way with the ladies and he rides one of the coolest variable fighters ever the YF-19. I mean hell, the damn thing blew up a Monster MkII in one shot.

gouf91 RMS-141--XekuEins--Type-3 MS-06F2 Zaku II F2 Type.....my fave zaku (including variants) My fav zaku is MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai Hmmm....I would like that one if it didn't seem out of place with the others. I know its build is to help out with the Universal Maintance Plan, but it seems like its too bulky to me though I like the extra head lineart that it has.

That was a good choice though. The Gelgoog was a next rollout machine, thus making it better with a beam rifle. Though the Gelgoog Jaeger made use of the beam rifle better, getting the nickname Gelgoog Sniper.
Though it would have been a sight to see, had the II Kai received the beam rifle.

Was Max the name of the guy in macross that had blue hair and glasses and was the best pilot? Or am I even remembering the right show?
The only Zaku I can think of is the chibi version in that animated children's show that says "Zaku Zaku" before promptly being blown up into the atmosphere.
