PostPosted: Tue Nov 23, 2010 4:15 pm

Huang curved his way through the large street of Lunaria known as Main street. Businesses were over filling after the long three days of the Festival of the Dead and we're crowding with Lunarians who wished to make up for the days missed in there business. It was loud and bustling, Huang could on try to weave his path to where he wanted to go. Where was it he was headed? No where in particular actually, for once he didn't have a mission from his mother nor did he have any meetings with his brother.

There was no classes for him to attend either seeing as he was no longer a Academy student. His own freedom was surprising to himself. To be able to walk around anywhere he wanted was comforting yet scary at the same time.

As if that fear rose in him, he ducked into the alleys in a attempt to further himself from the large crowd of other free spirited Lunarians. He did not feel like one of them yet, and so made his way through the back ends of the street. It was quiet for only a little while until Huang's sensitive ears started to pick up the rumbles of people's feet and the faint sounds of cheering. Curious to know what could possible hidden in the back of the city, he headed instantly to the sounds. The closer he got, the louder the cheers became until he walked into street that opened up wide. Still hidden in the Alleys, the area was built in a large circle form and inside this was a decent amount of the rougher looking Lunarians.

"Get'm Girl, Show'em!" The general cry seemed to be among the men and women who surrounded a arena. Huang pushed himself to the front to see just who was fighting and was a tad bit surprised to see a familiar face. Lady SiMa Li from the festival of the Dead, while their encountered had been brief, he had a feeling of...How could he describe it, a feeling that she was going to be interesting to meet more.

And he couldn't be more right. Li was proving just how intriguing she was as she brawled with a male lunarian in the ring, her movements were quick and powerful from what Huang could see and she took blows like the best of them. He leaned further forward the rail which kept the audience seperate from the brawlers and watched as she fought.

"Like what you see there boy?"
A man clapped his hand on Huang's back before pointing to Li, "That little lotus has been tearing our fights apart. Lot'of the boys got the bets goin' she'll win this round as well." Huang looked back at her before an idea rose and he spun around.

"How does one go about entering a fight?"
Huang crossed his arms, the Man stared at him before busting out a big laugh, and clapping his hands together.

"All ye gotta do is catch the Little Missus eyes, She picks her opponents." The man pressed Huang forward , "Good luck to you boy!"

Huang watched the fight continue, his back rigidly forward yet his eyes lit with a passion never before seen. He wanted to test his skills against her, to see if he too would fall victim or end up being the first to win. It was awakening a warriors blood in him.

THWACK!

Li slid back after the satisfying feeling of her kick landing on her opponent's shoulder, sending him sprawling across the tight-knit circle that served as their battleground. Debris of dirt and gravel caught and dusted by her feet; no sooner did she cease moving in the momentum that put here there, she lunged towards the yet-recovering male. She had thought, in the beginning, that she'd feel bad for fighting the street ruffian that didn't have the training that she did. After the chance meeting with Enlei and the realization that the 'ruffian' weren't as helpless or untrained as she had originally thought, the femme had no qualms nor reservations about using them to spar.

The Legionnaire wanted to stay fresh, and she knew she couldn't do that if she kept herself restricted to the formal teachings of the Academy. Her sparring continued with all she could find: the dock-hands she'd grown up with, the brawlers on the street like Sakngea and now, a circle of a Fight Club that thought it was cute a woman wanted to join. Now, that female was taking a messy kick to the stomach, gripping the leg that was attached to the foot embedded against her middle and using both of their centripetal force to throw the unfortunate Lunarian across the way again. He landed against the railing, being pushed by some of the on-lookers back to the awaiting Li, watching his motions to see if she couldn't determine his next movement.

Not that it was hard. The jeering of being beaten up by a girl was enough to blind most of her opponents with rage, making the motions easy to predict. He was already winding up to strike at her head, the gesture so obvious and ill thought out that she would have rolled her eyes were she a proud creature. As it were, she treated it as a learning experience, tactically deciding the best route to end the battle. The angry man swung and Li fell backwards onto her hands, throwing her legs up; her foot connected solidly with the male's chin, knocking him airborne before he fell back to the dirty ground, flat on his back. Her legs practically bent over her head before she threw them forward, getting to her feet and putting one scuffed shoe on his chest to keep his shoulders down. "Game."

And just like that, the fight was over.

The cheers were nice, but Li's satisfaction came from the points of interest she learned while fighting. Wiping her hand across her cheek, glancing to the digits to find a bit of blood, she smiled to herself ruefully; she could probably only go one more round before she'd start looking like...well, like she was picking fights. "My apologies gentleman!" she called over the cheers and jeers, "One more for today." Li was unfettered by the crows of anger that followed her words, spreading her arms as she turned and giving a lavish bow. "Live to fight another day, as the saying goes..." Standing upright, she paused as her eyes picked out a figure in the crowd that didn't quite match. Well-dressed, clean and watching her rather appraisingly--

"Master Lee!" she commented with startled surprise, her smile frozen for a moment. Of all the places to meet the polite, soft-spoken male, this was the last she'd have wanted to do so. She wore only her body suit so as to have less to grab onto, her hair - which was elegant and well tended to when they'd met - was pulled into twin looped pigtails, the tips splayed downwards behind her earfins. "...what a pleasant surprise! To what do we owe the pleasure?" Formalities seemed to prevail, even in the dingy back alley of the fighting arena. Approaching the railing, she put her slightly bloodied hands against the cool make-shift fencing, smiling at him and ignoring the calls for battle. Certainly Huang wasn't there to spar with the little lotus girl.

Certainly.

Huang was moved by the elegance that Li portrayed through her exhibition of her fight. She was fluid and read the moves of her parring partner like he was an open book. Huang shivered truly with excitement at just the though of tempting the fates and playing the game of matching hit with hit with her. He had never once been excited about fighting, it was true. He didn't mind getting his hands dirty when he needed to, but it was always part of a job. He needed a experience to realize that for once, not all fighting meant taking the life of another, and not all fighting was restricted to that of Legion vs. Noble. No this fighting went to the primal source of it all, it was survival. It was the one who had the best skill that would come out on the top.

And Li didn't disappoint with that. She was intently focused even with the loud cheers from the crowd. The man she fought with was becoming angry and while anger could help, sometimes it wasn't the best of the weapons you could. Point in taken when he attempted to bash Li's head in due to the frustration of getting his Lunarian hide handed to him. Li had read him like the open book he was, flipped a kick and sent the man sprawling to the ground. Her foot rested on his chest in victory.

Huang's excitement was barely contained as he let out a small clap for her. In reality though he was barely restraining the urge to get in there and test himself. One more victim had fallen to the Little Lotus and it rang through the crowd as the money was exchanged.

"Aye Boy, Little Spitfire she is the Lotus."
The man winked at him before going on his own way to collect money. Huang gave the man a raised eyebrow before turning back and staring at Li. Right now he could pick out the anger of yet another male losing to the female but that wasn't important. it was about honor and while these were the ruffians of the Lunarian world, many of them had been thrilled to see such a strong female in their ranks. Huang could admit while it was a bit daunting, He knew that they were at war and Females were just as strong, just as clever and just as fast as any other male warrior. Even without Li's current example, Huang would've known that she will be one of the most learning experience he could capture.

He watched as she gave a once over of the crowd and cocked his head as their eyes made contact. She had certainly picked him out quickly, Huang mused before leaning closer as she had come to stand under the railing where he was, her hands raw with her fight.

"Well met Lady Li, That was quite a thrill to watch."
Huang looked over her, her once elegant demeanor was replaced with that of a rougher trained solider, silken dress was replaced by a tight body gear that not only showed of the female aspect body, but that of toned and well trained muscle. Hair that was once elegantly tied up laid in to messy pigtails that gave her a cute girlish demeanor. As he remembered, Lady Li had been very beautiful at the festival, not quite delicate but not quite the image she had now. He was pleasantly surprised though, especially to compare the two of the Li's had met, the differences impacting yet accepted.

"I was wandering the streets when I heard the cheers." Huang too ignored the cheers of the crowd ushering another fight and instead only focused on Li. "Do you wish to Spar with me Lady Li?" Huang asked straight forwardly, to get a chance to test his skills, that was why he had stayed to watch. To have her pick him out of the crowd almost seemed like a blessing, "They say it is the Lady's choice who she chooses out of the crowd, Do you choose me then?" Huang leaned closer to her and smiled,"I wouldn't mind a test of skills with the Little Lotus as they call you."

The femme laughed softly at the greeting, lifting a bloodied hand to brush back her bangs from her brow, the color of her light hair a startling contrast to her darker skin smudged with dirt and residue of the fights. "You are kind, Master Lee," she chuckled in a quiet manner beneath her breath, smiling continually at her superior. Huang was kind enough, understanding, but to compliment her when she'd just beat the tar out of another man was almost..comical, if she hadn't been utterly flattered. It was unusual to make Li act like a girl, but there, beneath the grit of the alley and the blood of the fallen, she felt like a blushing fool. To be complimented on her fighting skill was something rather new to her.

Her amethyst eyes shifted around the jeering crowd at the mention of the cheers, her smile twisting into something more rueful, if not wry. "I do suppose it's a bit tell-tale," she agreed, her attention returning to the Legionnaire. The question that followed the words, however, caught Li wholly off guard and it showed in her face: her smile slipped into shock, eyes wide and brows lifted nearly into the fray of her bangs. The young woman blinked a few times, the intrigue bright in her eyes before she allowed a quick flick of a grin to form, brief and uncertain. "Spar, Master Lee? With you?" She couldn't help but repeat herself a bit inanely, not entirely sure her ears were working correctly. Her? Spar with--?

But Huang confirmed her disbelief, earning a quiet bit of startled laughter, staring up into his smiling face with bewilderment. "I--oh Lunaria's grace, Lord Lee, don't call me that!" Li had the decency to look embarrassed, covering her smudged cheeks with her palms while grinning, only slightly more girlish in her demeanor at the flattering talk. "Mercy! If you must, then..." She hesitated for only a moment, looking around the group of ruffians and back at Huang. Really, she had little choice -- and deeper than that was a curious excitement. Stepping back and bowing with flourish, she extended her beaten hand to the male, tilting her head to the side with a roguish grin. "I choose you, Master Huang Lee, to spar. Do you accept my challenge?"

The roar of the gathered answered her. She sent a quick prayer to Lunaria that she was not making a grave mistake.

"A well deserved show of entertainment begets a well deserved comment on the performer and her performance." Huang smiled at Lady Li, "No need to thank me for it, for I only spoke the truth." Huang relaxed amongst the crowd, quick to enjoy Li's company a moment longer before he fought with her. For he knew he would, once there eyes had met, Huang had known that Li would share a similar curiosity of something neither had experienced. While they were not friends yet, Huang had enjoyed their meetings so far and was pleased to see them start off on a good foot.

He didn't notice the blushing, for such as one of himself was oblivious to that. However, he did notice changes in her attitude, summing it up to manners and how she acted in general. It was cute in a way. "Yes indeed it is Lady Li." Huang smiled at her again as he looked over the crowd, "If after our match were are still able to talk, I would ask of you, the sweet gentle of ladies I met at the festival ended in the streets brawling." Huang leaned close, "Its more of a curious nature to know what makes such a beautiful girl like yourself fight like a true scrapper." Huang eyes widened a bit before he frowned, "Though, well I don't mean-" Huang's hand rose over to his neck now in nervousness, rubbing back and forth, "I didn't mean to offend with words if I had."

"Haha Yes My dear, I would like to challenge you!" Huang chuckled as she repeated his words before looking back to the crowd, the ones closest to them and heard were holding their breath in excited frenzy, would she take him as a challenger?

"Call you what? Little Lotus?"
Huang reached down to tug gently on one of her pigtails before cocking his head, "Why Lady Li, I find its a name one suits very well! However I will refrain from embarrassing you with such a pet name." Huang bent down to stare into her eyes before smiling once more, his challenge accepted, he lept over the fence that seperated the people from the fighters. Crowd cheering, Huang let it tide over until it was only a dull sound in his head, his focus intimately on SiMa Li now.

Repeating her fashion, he bowed to her before taking her outstretched hand and kissing the bruised knuckles, more for proper gentlemen etiqutte before stepping back. "I accept you challenge Lady Li, May the Goddess watch and bless our battle." Huang tilted his head at her before going to the corner where he was ushered. Rules were explained quickly to him, as a couple of men prepared him for battle. They removed his armor and weapons setting them aside to be regained after the fight, his wrist were wrapped in a thin bandage like cloth. As he was finished, he set about to the middle of the ring where he waited for Li to finish her preparing. He had been stripped down to his regular clothes, scarf was gone now leaving him with a sleeveless shirt that fit to his form, tucked into a wider thigh styled pants that were wrapped shin down into boot like sandals. Testing the new weight from freedom of armor, Huang bounced a bit, he could feel his blood pumping as he prepared his own mentality for fighting. With a woman no less. "Ready or Not?" Huang mumbled to himself as he waited for the call of battle to begin.

The offer of talking after the match -- assuming either of them were able -- was promising, if not encouraging. Li was inwardly a smidgen frightened of taking on someone she'd just met, especially one that was on the same side, but she had to talk herself down from being afraid. Her life from here on out would be attacking and being attacked by strangers, friends, allies and enemies -- this was wartime and there was no better way to get in the swing of things than practicing with someone she considered one to look up to. Huang was calm, collected, aloof even. She, even with the outward appearance of calm and control, was all excitement and fire inside.

The playful tug on her hair was received with a smile, and as they set about in their places to battle, Li rolled her head back and against her shoulders, earning a few satisfying pops. "Be it known I hold no offense to anything, Lord Lee," she commented as the call to commence the fight was heralded. "Except pet names." The pale-haired femme grinned briefly before she exhaled, a moment of perfect calm washing over her; the crowd became a quiet din in the background, the colors of her vision washed out save for the dark blue of her opponent. It was easier for her to focus if she held onto what was easy to identify and target, watching the wrinkle and twist of the clothing. She could do this. Even if she did not come out victorious, she knew she could give him a run for his money.

Stretching her arms out, she settled her elbows out in front of her sides, not touching her body; forearms bent upwards, curled into loose fists at collar-height. Li then began to move closer to Huang, watching him for his motions and any ticks. When she closed the distance between them, it wasn't with a hop or even a raised plume of dust in the alleyway; rather, she used her sea legs, the motions more snake-like from her hips to her toes, smooth and fluid in a very untrained but quick manner. Li was no means militaristic, not yet, but she would fight with what she did have, with what knowledge was afforded to her through life experience.

Sending a silent prayer to Lunaria to watch over them both, she struck out with a fist, ready to test her new friend's defenses.

"That is good to know then Lady Li." Huang smiled at her before frowning at the comment of pet names. When he saw her grin, he responded with a chuckle back. Such a interesting girl he had met, it wasn't often that he felt that he met someone he truly liked. Only a few so far to be honest, even among Legions he had ones he felt he didn't understand, never mind nobles as well.

When she went to her side, Huang pulled himself in. In his mind, Huang was preparing himself. Steeling his morals and methods of attack to the situation at hand. Li, he could tell did the same and he admired and felt that same kindred spirit from her. His mind was distant, not so distant that he would forget who he was fighting and why, but enough to keep him from his usual polite mannerisms. The crowd continued to cheer loudly as they both moved together in the ring, slowly, ever so slowly closer to each other.

He watched her body, eye's focused intently on watching the femme and her movements. His body was sprung into defense mode as far as gaining the information on her style of fighting, in his mind, in this fight, Defense would be the best offense. To learn you enemy, to learn your opponent was to face them head on in a collision, had he not lived by those rules all his life as he fought noble after noble?

He let loose a dangerously small smiled as she made her first move. A brave little things was SiMa Li, to attack first. She had guts, determination and in her eye's, he could see fire and passion. She was serious, He liked that. She would make him earn his keep as a fighter for that he was sure. His training in the Fu-Jow Pai came out in his pose, his body crouched down, his left leg set behind him and his right in front, toes pointed towards SiMa Li, his arms bent forward, one lower then the other at waist level, one placed exactly at neck level, palms face up. When she came into his reach, he didn't make a move. She was quick, there was no doubt about that. Her legs were long and slim enough to carry her weight quickly and still pack a punch, that he could tell when her first fist threw out, it connected with power in his palm as he blocked her, his other palmed hand came up from his waist in a counter attack, a bit slow in his response to test to how quick she would react.

As soon as he countered, the thrill of battle wrapped her senses into the whirlwind of the moment. Li felt like she was in overdrive, like everything was beginning to move slowly - herself included - but enough so that she could see what was happening and understand each movement. Huang's posture was alarming in that he was very clearly well trained and she hadn't the foggiest in what, but it was there in the exacting position of his arms and the weight distribution in his legs - she saw it, remembered it, and moved forward.

His counter wasn't so much blocked by Li as felt out in turn; her body twisted with her punch to him, and when he struck out in turn, his palm caught and pushed her side. Knowing that the male should have certainly hit her in a quicker manner, she realized that he was also testing her out, seeing what she was capable of. Unlike most fighters, Li wasn't the type to show that, not in the prologue of the battle. She was more likely to take a few hits, to make her opponent cocky or comfortable before walloping them 'out of nowhere.' The enemy couldn't see what they didn't know was coming, so why lay out her hand to see? Had she known Huang's posture, she might have calculated the attack type and tried to work against it, but since she was unawares and yet untrained, she could only assume that the majority of his strength was in his arms since his posture was so grounded. It didn't mean she'd ignore his legs, but for the time being, she wanted to test her theory.

Her arm dropped to try and catch Huang's by the elbow, but in doing so, with her twisted posture, she felt one of her feet slip. Using the momentum, she let herself slide down and threw herself between Huang's set legs, releasing his arms to catch herself with a small kick of dirt. With her weight in her toes and in the fingers of one hand against the ground, she prepared to spring at him, her bright eyes full of intrigue and barely contained excitement to see what would come next.

Huang could smell the excitement of the battle. It filled his nostrils full and had him spiraling down the adrenaline and basic instinct that was fighting. Li had so far proven herself to be quick and agile. It was qualities that the trained assassin in Huang appreciated and chalked down as a possible threat in the the battle now. Her aligeness didn't only come with her body but in her mind. Every move she made for him was concentrated and a planned attack. The more time he spent admiring the warrior in Li, the less time he had begun to watch for her attacks.

Such was now, in the fighting position he was in, the Fu Jow Pai stance was extremely weak in the legs. The main focus of the technique was the shredding style, much like a tiger or lion. It was for quick powerful strikes with the arms, and a basic defense against everything else. Not much in tune for an assassin was the Fu Jow Pai, but it worked well with more heavy typed enemies. He was quickly deciding to try a different stance when Li's leg dropped towards his. It hooked around the back, ruining the balance of power proportioned in the legs and sent him tripping backwards. His arm outstretched behind him, landing palm down to the ground, using the momentum of the fall, he let his body fall over itself into a back flip and then another to gain a distance from SiMa Li. His eye's had widened with the attack, so quickly had she found his weak spot. He smiled at her, a true broad grin before cracking his neck and rushing forward. "Well watched, Lady Li." Huang nodded at her before taking a deep breath.

His features had changed from the smile in a instant though. In his rush towards her, he dipped his body to the ground and returned the kick from the ground, aiming for her own feet before launching himself upwards with his other leg, his body making a full cartwheel motion towards her.

She wasn't actually expecting that to work! Li would have grinned, but a small victory was not the war; with Huang, she would do her best to take it all or bleed trying. In him, she felt he would respect that and give her hell. She was counting on it.

B-but he was so quick! Li had barely got her weight back into her legs from watching her elder before he was lunging towards her again, efficiently barring her from catching her breath and preparing for another round. He was a true soldier and the woman could better appreciate what she was up against. Li tried to throw her body to the side when she saw his feet aiming towards her, but something was off about his distribution -- something she caught entirely too late as the man displayed immense agility and cartwheeled her way. She didn't even have time to politely thank him as his airborne foot caught her hard in the shoulder, knocking her down and back with a blossom of pain that spoke loudly of bruising and tenderness to come.

There was no graceful way to recover, forcing Li to pull her lower body into a ball and lunge beyond Huang and hopefully out of the way of his fearsome feet! Her own feet dug firmly into the ground before she got too far, settling against her splayed fingers before she rounded her momentum and threw herself back into the fray. Distance was not her specialty and if she hoped to do any type of damage - or even just to impress the soldier - she'd have to stay up close and personal. Falling back into her knowledge of fighting with a weapon - even if she didn't have one - she began to rely on a Gendai budo style of battle to emulate a hand-to-hand version of naginatajutsu, attempting to grapple with Huang. She wanted to see if she had higher ground with the physically stronger male -- if she couldn't toss him to the ground, she'd flip over him (if her shoulder held!) and try to catch him off balance again. The age-old idea that the bigger they were, the harder they fell, would be tested if she could at all manage it.

Huang saw the victory come on Lady Li's face before it quickly passed at his attack. She parlayed against his attacks as he came at her, though he felt the connection of his body against her, his foot to her shoulder before she dodged away.

He stood now, watching her as the crowd cheered at them. He could hear someone call for him to finish her, another call to to her to attack him. Calls from everywhere on how to proceed the battle next and yet Huang could tell that this move would finish it. Her shoulder was injured and she was tired from her previous battles. In truth Huang probably had the upper hand the whole battle and while he mentally kicked himself, he was proud enough of SiMa Li as she stood stronger after so many battles and still had enough to challenge him.

The came together as Lady Li took his hands in hers, close combat as they threw punches. He recognized the grappling to be thrown and defended, smacking her hands away so that she couldn't grab him like she wanted. The strain of the battle should wear, Huang thought to himself as he deflected hit after hit. His palm's remained upwards as he fought her. He bent his hand down, he brought it back upwards distributing his weight so that the hit would be as powerful. "This is the end Lady Li." He whispered with his attack.

Loss came swift and sweet, her world twisting and tilting as she lay on the ground. She could hear the cries of dismay and disappointment, and while it would have usually stirred her to get back up, she had to admit defeat; Huang was a remarkable warrior, and even had she been in her prime, she knew she would have been felled by his hand all the same. Li was winded, her shoulder was killing her and that last hit promised a bruise for weeks rather than days, but she was satisfied in a rather profound manner. Some people sought pleasure, some went for hobbies, but Li was finding that her satisfaction was in the exertion of battle.

A lady, Li had never been. There on the dirty ground of the alley, pushing herself up with only a slight wince to the aches and pains of her body, she grinned up at Huang, unabashed and full of youthful exuberance. "A glorious end," she assures him as she gets to her feet, slowly dusting herself off, "and one well earned, if I do say so myself." She was beaten, bruised, bleeding a little - but Lunaria, she was happy. Breathing in deeply of the dusty alley and the faint scent of blood and sweat that lingered in the air, she took his hand in hers, bowing to press her brow to his knuckles. "My deepest gratitude, Master Lee, for treating me as an equal within these walls."

Righting herself, she gave his hand a gentle squeeze before she made her way across the ring. It was in her best interest not to limp in front of the spectators, though she know she'd have a hell of a bum leg for tomorrow at the very least. Jumping over the boundary, she casts the older Legionairre a brief but earnest smile of grateful proportions before she disappears into the throng of those still sorting out their money. The Little Lotus had lost by the gambler's count, but by her own, she'd come away from the experience a better fighter and an indisputable winner.
PostPosted: Tue May 24, 2011 11:38 am

Huang counted the seconds as he watched the youth fall to her demise before taking a breath. He watched as she thudded on the ground, laying there for only a second just long enough for them to announce that Huang the winner against the unbeatable Lotus. He saw her grin in the corner of his eye from Lady Li and gave her a broad smile in return. "A Glorious end indeed Lady Li." Huang came closer to her before bowing to her, "It was a pleasure, treat and learning experience Lady Li." He grabbed her hand bringing it to his lips for a small kiss on her bruised knuckles with his eyes twinkling before letting it drop, "Do not be a stranger, battle makes for weird bonding moments, I wish to challenge you again when you continue to grow stronger." Huang nodded again before stepping back. The crowd swarmed him with questions, pats on the back as he pushed his way through them.

He went home deeply satisfied and a sense that he may have met another companion in the midst of a brutal war.
