The Blood Moon Court
Your Unfriendly Neighborhood Senshi Mafia

“We all have a star in our heart... and two curled fists to keep it RIGHT <********> there.”

User Image

The Blood Moon Court is a new faction of highly motivated senshi who doubt the legitimacy of Queen Serenity, Princess Chronos, Princess Chibimoon, and all other royalty said to be the leaders of the senshi. These are individuals who have lost friends, been beaten, and otherwise pushed the utter brink of frustration. They understand that the senshi are trying -- but that isn't good enough for them. The senshi of the Blood Moon are leaders, fighters, and warhawks. If the existing royalty were truly meant to lead them, then this battle would already be over. Too much time has passed without enough progress. The Blood Moon senshi are done following blindly; they are prepared to take charge, no matter who they have to betray or how many bodies they have to step over to get that goal.

RULES

If you want to join the ranks of the Blood Moon, you accept the following rules. It can be assumed that you would not be selected for induction if you fail to meet/believe any one of the following. Do not sign up for this faction if this is not true of your character. If you have a question about any of these, please contact me.

1. Serenity is a dead queen. She is useful for the kinds of things that dead people are good for, like fertilizer. You do not believe in wasting time chasing ghosts or waiting for some girl with ridiculously long pigtails to show up and save your a**.

2. You want to save your own a**. And some other people’s too.

3. You are a fighting senshi. If you aren’t already a highly effective face-breaking machine, then you really, really, really want to be and are ready to work for it.

4. You will not share the secrets of the Blood Moon Court.

5. You will not share details of the meetings of the Blood Moon Court with outsiders.

6. If someone asks you what you are, your response will be a “Blood Moon senshi” -- you are no longer affiliated with that lesser, whiter moon, or any other faction.

7. You are willing to get your hands dirty for the greater good.

8. You attend a weekly meeting. If you miss a meeting, you accept the punishment, or make it clear that there was a good reason provided in advance.

9. You accept the Inner Sanctum as your ruling authority, even if you aren’t always happy about it, because you are loyal to the Blood Moon Court to a fault.

10. You are mad as hell, and you aren’t gonna take it anymore!

The Blood Moon Court
Your Unfriendly Neighborhood Senshi Mafia

Why would someone want to join this faction?

The Blood Moon senshi do not claim to be anything other than the hardest-working, all-singing, all-dancing, crap of the universe. They do not claim to be better than anyone based on birthright. They are better because they work harder. They are better because they wear their pride like a badge of honor. They are better because they possess a greater sense of duty than the average senshi might. Disenfranchised? Mistrusting? Alienated? The Blood Moon senshi will accept you for who you are, so long as you follow the rules and stand hand-in-hand with your Blood Moon comrades. There are many reasons why various personalities would be attracted to a self-proclaimed "different" group of senshi.

What are the benefits to signing allegiance with this faction?

The Blood Moon senshi have a goal -- and what's more, they have a plan to achieve it. The aimless and confused masses might find a mission and sense of purpose in their ranks. This is a senshi group that is run like the Negaverse. They are militant -- both in how they encourage you to be better and how they also hold you to the doctrines of the faction. Laziness is not accepted. Failure is not okay. If you want to be a better senshi, then this faction might be just what you need to get your a** in gear.

What are the activities of this faction?

The Blood Moon senshi meet every week to share their battle stories, catch up, and otherwise go over the status of their goal achievement. (This is assumed even though they will not always be RPed out.) The Blood Moon senshi also train regularly -- at least twice a week for cadets, five times for mercenaries, and every day for the Inner Sanctum. Mercs or ISS can lead any training session, or any information sessions. In one of the posts below, you will find a list of current missions. Any senshi can be involved in these without OOC approval. There are more activities detailed in the Blood Moon Court guild, but that information is only available to people who join the faction.

Are there any other relevant benefits?

Support -- a lot of it. The Blood Moon senshi believe that it is the responsibility of every single member to be there for one another. It is why they are so tightly bonded. Not only do you get training and direction, but a senshi who joins the Blood Moon Court also gets protection. Since patrols are scheduled, there is always a point where returning senshi must go to check-in before they head home for the night. If someone does not check in, then the senshi on duty will call up a dispatch to go search for that person. The BMC does not leave a man or woman behind, not ever.

On top of that, Blood Moon senshi are also tasked with helping each other in civilian form too. If a member of the court has parents who are getting too nosy, then other BMCers will step in to help convince those parents of how wonderful and totally trustworthy their child is. If a BMCer is having a hard time financially, other members who are more fiscally stable will give them money. If someone is kicked out of their house, then they will always find a place to live with one of their comrades. The Blood Moon Court is not just about battle prowess; it is about togetherness. The aim of this organization is to convince every single one of its members that there is no one more loving, stable, or trustworthy than their brothers/sisters-in-arms of the Blood Moon.

What are the drawbacks to this organization?

The Blood Moon is all about loyalty and victory. If you fail in any one of these regards, then you will be punished for it. The level of the violation will translate into the level of punishment. In the same way that a BMCer will support you when you are on their side, those individuals will turn around and terrorize you if you violate any code of the Blood Moon. Allegiance to this organization is not a birthright; it is a choice. There are consequences for those who do not make good on their promise to their comrades. If you are given a task to accomplish by the ISS, then you have to pursue it, even if it asks you to do something that you are not entirely comfortable with. The Blood Moon are not entirely noble. They believe in victory by any means necessary -- even if it requires some traditionally unsenshi-like behavior.

Levels of Membership

The BMC is a group of senshi, but they are structured in many ways that are similar to the Negaverse. Think military!

The Inner Sanctum -- Also referred to as the ISS (Inner Sanctum Senshi) or the Inners, this is the governing board of the faction, the “officers” of the fighting force.

In order to reach this level, your character must have proven dedication beyond all expectations. Once you are accepted into the Inner Sanctum, you are privy to all of the knowledge and future plans of the Blood Moon Court. You must reveal your secret identity to the rest of the board, and then they will do the same in return. You also get the distinct privilege of never being able to leave. Anyone who tries to leave the BMC at this stage would be killed. This is known from the start. It is a hazard of the position. Anyone is eligible to join this rank, but there must be good IC reason. If you are interested, please contact me via PM to work out the details. People in the Inner Sanctum have additional responsibilities within the faction.

Current Members
Sailor Ares
Cavalier Laocoon
Sailor Gaia
Super Sailor Gunn
Sailor Birhan Isat
Guardian Cat Zirconia

The Mercenary Guild -- Also referred to as the Mercs or the Guild, this is the second echelon of involvement with the Blood Moon Court and the step at which someone is considered a full member. Even though it lacks some of the knowledge and privileges of the ISS, it is every bit as intense as the highest rank in terms of loyalty and performance expectations.

Members who achieve this level are incredibly dedicated, incredibly motivated, and incredibly powerful. At this stage, you are officially permitted to serve on task forces, sometimes in a leadership role. All full members must receive the red crescent moon brand as induction into the hallowed ranks of the Blood Moon Court. It is not optional. You must also reveal your identity to your Inner Sanctum sponsor, who will then reveal theirs back to you. However, you are not privy to the identity of any other members, nor of the governing board. These members will be given highly sensitive information and will be utilized on task forces and in other confidential BMC matters. It is possible to leave the Blood Moon ranks at this stage, but it would not be done easily, and not without certain negative repercussions.

Current Members
Super Sailor Nemesis
Super Sailor Lyra
Sailor Albali
Super Sailor Scylla
Sailor Serpentarius

The Cadet Corps -- Also referred to as the Caddy Corps or the Cadets, this is the lowest level of membership. You have not earned your place yet, or have not proven yourself to be dedicated enough for full membership.

In this rank, you are not told any secrets. You are not even told where the meetings are held. You instead are contacted fifteen minutes before a meeting starts and sent to another location where a full member meets you, blindfolds you, and escorts you into the meeting space. At this level, you are being trained regularly and invited on missions, but they are of the lowest sort. You are given a taste of the faction, encouraged to grow, and tested for viability. Most people who entertain the idea of joining up with the Blood Moon Court do not make it past this stage. At this stage, you have not earned the right to wear the red crescent moon on your skin.

Current Members
Sailor Euterpe
Sailor Requiem
Sailor Sirius

Goals & Objectives

At any given point, the BMC is working on many different projects. These are things that Mercs and the ISS know about, but not necessarily something that Cadets are entirely knowledgeable about. A Cadet might help on these tasks, but they would never know the whole picture, why they are doing what they are doing, and would never get to see the total end result of their efforts. Those privileges come with promotion!

All senshi who are recruited, regardless of rank, will be picked for one of the following task forces:

Intelligence
- Determine the source of Beryl and the Negaverse’s power.
- How do they store starseeds?
- What is the source of youma creation?
- What are the limits of their teleportation?
- Track the location of all known crystals in Destiny City, especially the Rainbow Shards.
- Identify Nega hot-spots, travel patterns, times of most activity.
- Analyze any intercepted messages or signals.
- Observe interrogations in the event of a captured enemy.

Public Relations
- Stage “Nega attacks” where civilians are valiantly rescued by Blood Moon senshi in front of crowds, or in front of a security camera.
- Pose as Negaverse agents to rough up civilians, rob stores and bystanders, and cause other low-level mayhem.
- Follow the news for possible pockets of bad press, to search for any images of senshi or Negas that appear, and to otherwise track the flow of information surrounding the war.
- Gain a foothold in the media by securing an ally with direct control of the press and the stories that are published/produced.
- Play Peter Parker to BMC’s Spiderman.

Logistics & Strategy
- Recruitment. Recruitment, recruitment, recruitment. All day, every day.
- Plan all major battles and decisive strikes like a troop commander.
- Work to pair the most complimentary senshi groups together for maximum damage and strength.
- Train all members in every phase of tactics, including offense and defense.
- Responsible for the ‘fighting force’ aspect of the BMC.

Special Forces
- The strongest, most intense, and most ask-no-questions senshi are found here. This is a small group, a very small group, and they are entrusted with the most dangerous and most distasteful tasks. When an enemy is captured, this is the group that does the questioning. When a BMC member has gone rogue, this is the group that finds them and doles out the punishment. Think of it as the Secret Service. Very exclusive, very obedient group. This is the only group that you need to ask (and be approved) to join.

Frequently Asked Questions

My senshi sort of believes that Serenity is the true ruler, but s/he is skeptical that she is coming back. Is the Blood Moon Court for me?

Yes, possibly. Sailor Ares does not give two shits about Serenity. She knows who her Queen is, and her Queen is dead. Your senshi might give a s**t about Serenity. S/he might give many shits. This is fine, but in order to be a full member of BMC, your character must accept that Serenity is not around and therefore is less important than those people in the here-and-now who are ready to do the hard work that is necessary to save the world from the forces that seek to corrupt it. There are many degrees of non-allegiance to Serenity within the BMC.

My senshi is a Zodiac/other tightly-knit group. Can s/he still join?

As a rule, I would assume that Ares does not welcome Zodiacs into the BMC simply because they already have a princess and therefore could never be totally loyal to the Blood Moon, which is a big ole no-no. (Also, I'm not sure why any Zodiac would want to!) I imagine Zodiacs and BMC might interact on a group-to-group basis, but unfortunately, there is no dual-citizenship in Sparta this faction.

As far as OTHER senshi groups/teams are concerned, it would be highly discouraged because the doctrine of the Blood Moon is total and complete loyalty to the Court, always and forever. Some of these people might be permitted to be cadets and could receive training, but the expectation would always be that, sooner rather than later, those individuals would leave their old group and dedicate themselves entirely to the Blood Moon Court.

If your senshi has their hand in two cookie jars, they must prioritize BMC over the other always in order to reach Merc status. They would never be able to be an ISS unless they totally severed ties. This can be a plot point! Two of the current Mercs still have ties to another group, but it is something they are constantly criticized for and there is a continuous pressure (and expectation!) that they will leave their old group ASAP. After a certain amount of time, if a Cadet/Merc has not vacated his or her old faction, then they would be asked to leave and stripped of their title within the Court.

Does my character have to be violent/super aggressive to join?

Blood Moon Court is pretty much Sparta meets Fight Club meets The Skull & Bones Society. They will fight in the shade, and all that good stuff. You do not have to have some blood-thirsty character, but you must have a character who is prepared to kick some a** in the name of the greater good. This is not a clan for the faint of heart. You might be asked to punch your fist through a Nega’s face. This is something that might happen in the line of duty. If your character is not at that point yet, don’t worry. The members of BMC can help bring that out in them. Are you someone who has an air of kawaiidesudesu and runs from a battle at the first sight of blood? Probably not the group for you.

So, wait. Is Ares actually a queen?

No, not really. Ares is a soldier just like everyone else in the faction. Sailor Ares plays the role of the Blood Moon Queen, but as far as the Cadets and the general public are concerned, she ascended to a royal position of power because of an energy vacuum left behind by the death of Queen Nehelenia. The great energy of their obliterated monarch was passed to her by the Cosmos, she claims. When speaking before the full faction, Ares dons expertly tailored additions to her fuku, including a fancy crown, but when in the field or in training, she remains in her senshi form because she is one of the people. She claims that her energy signature is obfuscated by the duality of her soul, which is why she does not register as one big glaring beep on everyone’s power radar. These are necessary lies created by Ares that BMC members believe.

One of the secrets that is gained with full membership is the knowledge that there is no Blood Moon Queen, and the faction has been led by a normal sailor all along. They are powerful because they are strong, not because they are headed by some royal figure. This is the realization that all full members come to at this stage in their indoctrination. The BMC is structured in such a way to mimic the existing Moon Courts in an attempt to gain authority and legitimacy. They fly the banner of a monarchy hiding a great crystal, but in truth, they are a democratic governing board that is gaining power one carefully planned strategy at a time. It is, essentially, a really good marketing strategy.

I want to be really involved, but I don’t want to get my character branded.

The brand is not optional beyond the cadet-level. If you are not willing to do it, then this faction is not for your character. The Blood Moon Court are a radical bunch. They do things full tilt, pedal to the floor, wind whipping in their hair. Anyone who is made of the stuff to be worthy of them will be totally cool with searing it onto their flesh permanently with a red-hot poker.

I have some really cool ideas for missions! Can I lead one?

If you are in the Mercenary Guild or the Inner Sanctum, then yes. It would have to be assumed that the mission was working somewhat under the direction of a member of the Inner Sanctum. OOCly, you would just need to quickly run it by me. The cool thing about this group is that everyone is treated (mostly) equally once they reach the Mercenary rank. Your character will be trusted with very important tasks because the Blood Moon Court is highly synergistic. Each member is a cog in the machine that is going to save the world.

Is this faction evil?

The Blood Moon Court will do whatever it takes to gain power. They are not aligned with the Negaverse. They do not corrupt people, and they are not corrupted senshi. However, they do possess a gray morality. Sometimes casualties happen. Sometimes good people must suffer for a chance to strike at a bigger evil. BMC accepts this as a hazard of war. They save lives wherever they can, but it is more important for them to capture a powerful Negaverse agent than to save the civilian who that agent was attacking. This exists in varying degrees within the faction. Some people are more willing to cause mayhem in the name of victory than others, but all members understand that desperate times call for desperate measures.

I’m worried my character might not be enough of a go-getter. How dedicated do they really have to be?

If your character was in one of the Saw movies, they would have survived. They would have swan dived into the pit of hypodermic needles. They would have sawed off their own arm without pausing to consider if it was worth it. They would dig in the dead body for the key with their teeth to unlock their shackles. BMCers are hearty stock. Again, there are many shades of this dedication within the ranks, but there is no doubt that members of this faction want the world to change and are willing to be the ones to do it.

How do other senshi see the Blood Moon Court?

It depends, senshi to senshi. Some probably think it is a cult. Others probably think they are evil, that they are giving all senshi a bad name. Even others might be terrified of them, or perhaps assume that they are just going to go down in one big fiery crash. They are the radical wing of the senshi population. They are the radical left, the radical right, the ones who stand on a chair and tell the UN to suck it with middle fingers raised high. Other senshi might even think of these senshi as terrorists. Though the group is incredibly secretive, people still have a brief knowledge of them. It is up to other players whether that attitude is good or bad.

I just heard about this faction, but I would like my character to be retconned as a full member/Inner Sanctum senshi. Is this possible?

Yes! You just need to PM me to talk about it, especially if you are seeking ISS enrollment.
