(PRP for Rainart, owned by Darkmoon Dancer, & Eira Linna, owned be stormflower) Rainart paced back and forth and back and forth in front of his cave. Within that cave, he hid many treasures, most of which would probably mean less than nothing to any ordinary soquili, but to him they were full of meaning and memories. Inside one could find anything from the smallest little mole skulls, to the mightiest of Skinwalker skulls, and everything in between. There were ribcages, limbs, and tails strewn about, but there was an organisation to this madness. The skulls could all be seen lined up in nooks that had been carefully carved into the walls, they were obviously the prized possessions. But they were not the reason he was pacing just outside.
It was his daughter. His first and oldest foal had finally grown into adulthood, and she had left on her very first solo hunt. And even that was only part of the reason why he paced back and forth. The real reason he was pacing was because he was worried. She had been gone for several days now and was beginning to think that something could have gone horribly wrong, that she could have hurt herself and become trapped, or else even hunted herself and became someone else's dinner! 'No, no.' He shook his head to get rid of such thoughts. Those were completely unnecessary. She would be home very soon, and he would just have to wait until then. But still the pacing continued.
He couldn't help it really. She was half of his first brood of children, so what else was he supposed to do? Ariadne had had some sort of important business to attend to, and he still wasn't quite sure where they stood, so he didn't even have anyone to confide this worry in. Well, unless one counted that stupid crow that wouldn't leave him the hell alone. Even now, it sat there in a tall branch, way above Rainart's reach, grinning in that birdish sort of manner. If only he could get his teeth around it's neck... He grinned devilishly. Oh, if only. "Stupid bird!" he called out to it, wanting it to stop following him around. He had enough to worry about!

Eira had been out on her first solo hunt. It was a big hunt for her, she wasn't looking for a simple deer though, she was hoping for bigger game, a challenge. She was after a mountain lion or something of the sort, but she wasn't sure what she would find...and it was rather it that found her.
It had been days since the beast went down and she was headed to her fathers gave to show off her first trophy and it could possibly be bigger then her fathers. She knew he'd be worried having been gone longer then expected, but her encounter with the beast was unexpected. She couldn't wait to tell her father about it, see how proud she's made him.
She was finally closing in on the cave and was a bit giddy. She was hoping she'd she her mother and maybe even her little brother(so she could rub his face in it XD), but they could wait. As she turned the at the last tree she skipped a bit and called to her papa causing her trophy to bob around on her head and a trail of blood followed her from her killings before. She smiled wide at the sight of her father and called out to him with a laugh at the path he was wearing in the ground from pacing, "Papa!! Im back."

After what felt like forever and a million years, Rainart finally heard what he had been waiting for. He spun on the spot and quickly trotted over to nuzzle his daughter. The ground rumbled under his hooves, and the crow cawed, upset at the sudden movement of the earth and shaking of his tree. But Rainart merely ignored him to fawn over his daughter like any worried father would. "Eira! Are you alright? No broken limbs, no missing parts?" He quickly scanned her over, making sure there wasn't anything wrong that she wasn't going to tell him about. And when he was sure that she wasn't going to bleed to death he took a few paces back to give her space to breathe... and stuff.
Standing there looking at his daughter he raised an eyebrow and inquired seriously, "Any new scars to show off?" And where any normal father would be terrified at the thought of his daughter having marks upon her skin for the rest of her life.... Rainart could only be proud. But he stopped there and asked no further questions, that is... until he noticed the trophy upon Eira's head. It was a strange shape, that was for sure, and though he had a guess as to whom it could have belonged to, he would wait and let her explain her grand story to him, not wanting to take any of the pleasure of details away from her. He did however raise an eyebrow and inspect it from a distance as he waited for her to respond.
The crow, whom Rainart had simply began calling Thief, was being his obnoxious self. He called down rudely, "Did you find that somewhere, in the mud perhaps?" He chuckled cruelly to himself, eyes glinting. But Rainart wouldn't have any of that. He turned on the spot until he was in position, never taking his eyes off of his daughter, and gave the tree one really good swift kick. It etched yet another hoofmark into the bark and caused the entire tree to shake and the bird to fall out. Thief flapped his wings to catch air and cawed angrily in response as he did a few circles in the air to find a more solid roost. One that couldn't be kicked by the angry oaf below.
"Don't listen to him," He growled, "Catch him soon." He had a habit of missing the first word of a sentence, but most everyone seemed to understand him well enough.

Eira couldn't help but laugh as her father came barreling towards her. She continued to laugh as he worriedly check to make sure everything was where it should be. "Yes Papa, Im fine. I do have a few scars. Most minor scraps, but I do have a nice big one here.", she said as she nipped her mane a bit to move it showing what was a huge gash in her neck, but it had healed nicely.
She smiled proud with herself and she was glad to see her father. When he took note of her 'new hat' she was beaming. She couldn't wait to tell her story of how she came to kill the monstrous beast, but first some annoying bird squawked from a tree. Her father shut him up though with a swift kick to the tree. "What the hell is with the ugly flying chicken?", she asked with disdain hoping to ruffle a few feathers a.
She soon forgot about the stupid bird and shook her hair to tame it a bit and also adjusting the skull hat as well. "Papa, it was an amazing battle and one not quite intended to tell the truth.", her expression got serious as she got ready to tell of her great battle. "He was some sort of a Kalona mutant, as Im sure you can tell, but quite a bit bigger then you even. It was just chance I ran into him, his unlucky day.", she laughed in remembrance.
"I had just killed a buffalo that I lured away from it's herd. When this beast tried to steal my kill. Well needless to say, my kill, MY FOOD! He tried to fight me for it....", her tail told of sharp bird like talons he wore over his hooves. The battle had gone on for 2nights and a day. Long and tiring, but Eira had her speed and agility on her side. The story went on until finally the killing moment. "....I was limping from him biting my leg, but one of his wings was torn to shreds. He finally could see that he was no much for such a danity little thing like me. Still he tried to run, but I don't leave anything unfinished. His first mistake was trying to steal my kill, His second underestimating me, and Last...he turned his back. I bore what weight I could on my injured leg and ran at him and gave a swift headbutt to his side, sending him into a tree. He tried to come back at me in a desperate attempt, but it was no use, I moved to the side with a roll at the last second and jumped on his back. We both fell to the ground, I fained like I was down for good, he thought he had a chance to finish me, but he was wrong. As he came in for the kill, I went for mine. I sank my teeth into his jugular and tore away. He died slowly..in his own blood.", she smirked as she had done when she watched him die. She was not one to show pity least of all to one who tried to steal from her.

He admired her scar with wide eyes, full of love and pride. She was growing up so fast! She was just the hunter he wanted her to become. Strong in both body and will. Yet in some aspects she seemed to have excelled past his own skills. She had definitely gotten her mother's agility and stealth, something he was still working on.
As for Eira's comment hurled at Thief... well, the crow wasn't very happy about that; quickly retorting with, "Better a chicken than a scavenger!" Chuckling louder than last time, the crow finally found a roost a good way up the rock wall the cave was attached to. From there he began to preen, rather upset by the chicken comment, but not daring to stray anywhere near the soquili' ranges. After all, there were two of them now so that meant twice the risk of getting caught. And he had a reputation to keep, not to mention his life!
Rainart sighed heavily at the crow's banter and quickly explained to Eira, "Started following me around. Can't get rid of him. Catch him soon though. He'll make a tasty treat." He smacked his lips loudly enough for the bird to hear: yet another threat at it's life. But that wasn't what he wanted to talk about just then.
He listened aptly to his very first daughter tell him about her first lone-trophy and how she got it. His assumptions had been correct, in it being kalona, or at least part kalona. And as much as he wanted to interject and ask questions here and there, he was patient and let her tell the entire story without any interruptions. His expressions did however tend to change over the time of her telling: suspense, excitement, nervousness, and satisfaction all crossed his mind and body as she spoke. And only when she finished did he finally allow himself to react aloud.
"How dare he attempt to snatch your kill!" He snorted, angry at just the thought. Drowning in his own blood was a suitable death, he deemed, even though he was not the type to draw out pain for his prey. But such an intruder had not been intended prey, he had been a thief. He glanced up at the bird but didn't say anything about him. Looking back at his daughter he raised his head to it's regular height, and asked, "Foolish for the mistakes he made." He nodded, "Deserved to die." Though he tried to refrain from killing other soquili, he was definitely not above that and given the right reasons, he would do it without a second thought. But he didn't necessarily want his daughter to become a mindless murderer either.
"He make a decent meal? At least for scavengers?" He could understand if she didn't want to eat any part of him for all of the stupid mistakes he had made, or else out of the sheer audacity leaking out of him for attempting to nab her kill. But he didn't believe in wasting perfectly good food. Scavengers were always willing to help.

Eira smiled up at her papa. She was happy he was proud of her. "I left most for the buzzards, but I did enjoy his heart though.", she then changed the subject and ignored the talking chicken but glared daggers at him, a silent threat.
"Papa, how have you been? Any good hunts lately? I hear there is a large lion that's been roaming in the near by woods, have you seen him?", she was full of energy and joy seeing the pride in her papa's eyes. She shook her mane, moving the skull on her head to a more comfortable position.

He nodded along, "Yes... His skull, too. Yes, good." A hearty smile, the stallion practically beamed, but still -or especially- words mostly failed him.
Ears perked at the mention of a lion in the area. Yes, he had seen a lion, and heard him, too. Oh, who hadn't? The thing wailed at night. He was pretty sure he had been cast out of his pride or else lost his mate. Why else should a creature make such a horrid noise night after night?
As they began on their trek back to tell Ariadne the wonderful news Rainart replied, "Heard him. Every night, almost. Cries real loud, like a two-legger foal. Still watching him, though. 'Was thinking we could catch him together," He paused here, to glance over at Eira Linn. It wasn't like he needed help to kill a lion, even a large one, but there were still things to teach, not to mention he still had lots to learn about females in general.
