Isa tugged at Mari's hand, the impatience evident in her expression as she pointed to the next room. It was a museum, full of beautiful, historic objects that could render a viewer speechless.

But all Isa seemed to want to do was run through it quick enough to make it to afternoon tea.

"Isa." Mari's voice was quiet as she looked around. "I'll find you in the next room, okay?"

The herald's expression was one of slight boredom as she nodded her head. It seemed evident that the subdued impressionist paintings were not the child's favorite. But the next room (and this Mari knew well) would be full of brighter, evocative pieces of art, so maybe it would entertain the child enough to let the adult enjoy the new collection.

They were in a museum, a large, stately one. In a section full of a new collection that had only just arrived to this side of town. And Mari wanted to enjoy it as long as she could.

Even if Isa had other plans.

"Promise. I'll be right here. Besides, I can't miss you in your outfit."

It wasn't only Mari's choice of clothing, but Isa's as well. Dressed in bright, vivid shades of crimson and orange, the small herald seemed almost overwhelmed in the flame hued tones.

But she was adorable, and that was the way Mari preferred it.

Raeburn loved museums. This one was more of a museum of history than one of strictly art, but that didn't mean it lacked pieces that were beautiful and breath-taking and that he hoped, someday, to match. They weren't in perfect condition, but Raeburn was certain someday he'd create masterpieces that didn't decay.

He was standing on a bench rather stoically - Sadie was across the room, creating a sketch of some piece or other. He was looking at a pretty painting, vividly colored but not so vivid as to be garish. He approved, actually - the colors didn't clash terribly, and they were just loud enough to make a statement. It wasn't oversimplified and cutesy, either, like some of the modern art that Sadie was always dragging him around to see.

Something warm and bright entered the corner of his eye - for a moment he thought of Michael, but then he shook his head. Michael had brightly-colored wings, yes, but not that bright. It was a herald, though - around his size, with lovely wings that were delicately colored and breathtaking but a garish outfit that he didn't like at all. He climbed down the bench, approaching her. Raeburn himself was wearing a much more subdued ensemble, in pale blue and green and cool grey, today (he liked cool grey).

"You're a herald," he announced, in a voice just below his ordinary conversational tone. "Why neon?" It pains the eye, he would've added, except Sadie had said she'd buy him more colored pencils if he was nice today and didn't comment on people's sartorial choices again.

Isa looked over at the voice, took in the cool tones and the wings that seemed marked rather like a lost rainbow. Was this where color went to hide on a cloudy day? Into the wings of an unknown herald? She hesitated, feeling suddenly, awkwardly shy. Herald? Neon?

Right. It didn't help to just stand and there.

The first was said too matter of fact for her to answer. She knew what it was she was supposed to be, and she knew he was the same. It didn't need so much of a response, unlike the last. A question, then. Her choice of clothing? She looked down and ran one hand down the flame colored skirt.

Neon?

"It looks warm." she answered. It was a simple answer, and one she felt justified the question. The colors were warm, bright and vivid in the way the flame was. It had attracted her, and the material was nice and light. Easy to move in.

She did a have spin, looking at him. It was like fire. Somewhat.
