(Huge rp between Meret, Alis, and Meret's family...And baskets. =B ) Things change.
Things change, for better or for worst, just as the seasons changed, just as he had changed. It seemed like forever since Nab had his fateful encounter with Char, another forever since the girls were born, and an even longer forever since they parted ways. Sure, he had tried to go back to his beloved shadows but it just wasn't the same anymore. The girls, all three of them, had changed him. Still a bit awkward around others but not like before. His daughters had greatly loosened him up, taking away most of his fears. The world didn't seem so bleak anymore. He was not only needed for the first time in his life, but wanted. It was nice. His beloved shadows were just...Too lonely for him now.
But he wasn't alone. Not truly anymore. "Daddy, what are you doing? You're gonna catch a cold standing out there for so long!"Nabu blinked as reality came crashing back to him. The air was chilled and the forest before him looked dead. Soon enough the snow would fall and everything would be a beautiful white. But for now, it looked dead. Turning around the male set his eyes about the cavern his daughter was standing in front of, her cheeks puffed out as she glared at him. Nabu couldn't help but smile a little. "Yes mother." He got a 'head thrown back, stomp on the ground, eye roll' for that one. "Come on daddy, they'll be here soon enough. And Alis should be back any minute now." The young mare huffed.Being early was never one of Nabu's strong points, but he seemed to have beaten everyone else here. By a long time. "Where did your mate run off to anyways?" Nabu question as he joined his daughter in her cave, but he only got another eye roll for questioning her loves motives. Specially today. Today was so important for her. Nabu could tell he had one more chance to get this right. "So how are they?'The young mare's face switched from angry to a pridefully joy as she lead him not to far from the opening. Her father had pushed the right button."They seem to be sleeping right now." Meret replied in a hush voice, her face beaming at her two beloved little baskets. "I can't wait for mom to get here...I hope she's proud."

Char had left for this little gathering good time - in fact she had been pretty sure that she would arrive at the entire affair long before everyone else and that was fine with her, she couldn't wait to spend some quality time with Meret, see her daughters baskets..meet her mate and yes she looked forward to seeing Nabu too.
Their meeting hadn't been planned and it had certainly been surprising but she couldn't argue with the results - their daughters were perfect and Char simply couldn't imagine her life without them anymore.
Unfortunately despite her best intentions Char hadn't counted on Jarita, Merets sister had taken forever to ay good-bye to Eversong her most recent..fling,mate..Char wasn't sure yet which way it would go and then she had insisted on dictating what she believed to be the easiest route to take. So she arrived far later then she had intended too..but she was almost there now and in anticipation of that fact she picked up the pace a bit, trotting down the path towards the cave Meret called home. "Mother!" Came Jarita's voice almost instantly 'Please slow down, your going to fall and injure yourself!" The younger mare insisted as she scrambled to catch up with her rushing mother - really the mare was getting older she needed to be more careful! "We'll get there when we get there" She called ahead."Jarita.." Char called back in a weary tone "I've been running around on this ground since long before you were born..I think I know how fast I can go. It's not even icy" She pointed out, paying no attention to her daughter, they were so close now she could practically hear the others conversation and then she was there, rounding the corner with Jarita scrambling along a few paces behind her. "Meret! Nabu!"

"Mama? Mama! Daddy! I hear Mama! MAMA!"
Nabu couldn't even get her name out before Meret had bounded outside, off to find her mother. He let out a small sigh, thinking of how childish his daughter got when she was too overly excited. He glanced back at the two baskets. They were only just outside but...He knew no one would forgive him if anything happened to them, even if it was a short time. Shaking his head lightly he moved over to the two. "Looks like grandpa is getting stuck baby sitting already..." He cooed lightly to the baskets. "You mother moves too fast for me kids. The quickest on the draw gets to say hi first, after all."

Hooves tapped against the ground in a gait that sounded nervous even to Alis's own ears. This gathering was important to both his beloved and his self. A sort of welcome to the family for the children created between the two. It would also mark the first time Alis had the chance to meet Meret's mother and sister. Everything had to be perfect.
That was why he had wandered away long before the start. In order for any gathering to go smoothly the girls should be presented with gifts; gifts that reflected every mares beauty. It had nearly taken half the morning for something to catch his eye. Three red roses, each flawless in its own way. He had used a secret technique for their picking so not a petal was disturbed.
Unfortunately that technique had made him frightfully late. Alis snorted with relief as the cave came into sight, ears perking at the sound of his happy love. A wince crossed his features as he came up behind what appeared to be Meret's mother and sister. Wiping it away he lowered the roses to the ground and dropped them there gently. Couldn't say hello with a mouthful after all.
"Hello ladies and dearest." Alis greeted after raising his head. "Nabu." He added with a nod.

Char was overjoyed to see her daughter as she came bounding out of the cave, whickering a greeting she nuzzled her daughter when the mare came close enough before pulling back to really take a look at her "You look well" She told her in a pleased tone - not that she'd had any doubt really, she was sure she and Nabu had raised Meret well enough for the mare to find a mate that took care of her - not that she couldn't take care of herself of course.
Jarita, having finally caught up with her wayward sister as Char stopped to greet Meret beamed at her sibling "Hey sis" She greeted "So where are these baskets of yours? I want to see my nieces and nephews!"
Of course before she could get an answer the stallion arrived behind them and Jarita let out a small squeak of surprise having not heard him until he spoke. My but wasn't he the gentlemanly type. "You must be Alis"
"It's a pleasure to meet you" Char stepped in before Jarita embarrassed her sister in some fashion "I'm sure your taking good care of my daughter?" She questioned in typical motherly fashion before catching sight of a flash of orange in the cave. It had to be Nabu. Babysitting..imagine that, the thought made her chuckle.

Meret quickly nuzzled her sister as she tried to explain. "They're in the cave with dad-Alis!" Ah! Everyone was here! Meret looked like she was just about to faint from all the excitement going on. "Come on come! I know your dieing to see them so let's not keep you from them any longer. We can talk more inside. Besides, I know daddy is dieing to see you again mommy!" Meret gave her mother a light nudge before heading over to her mate and nuzzling him for a moment. "Come on. You too. Everyone should meet the family together." She smiled brightly to everyone.
