Roxanna was at the edge of the lake, where she liked to be. She was barely in the water. It wasn't even over the tops of her hooves yet. The brightly colored filly was just standing in int, her blue and black eyes darting everywhere the sun hit the water and sparkled. She was entertained, at least for the moment.

Her wings opened and fluffed around with her movements. She smiled and suddenly jumped around splashing in the water. Her wings were fully extended and she was rather gleeful in the sudden movement. It was so much fun, to splash around like this and watch the water fly. At least it was decently warm out, with the water getting all over her as she splashed around. Roxanna was laughing, and having tons of fun all by herself in the moment. She had no idea that she was being watched.

The stallion smiled warmly as he watched his daughter play. She reminded him so much of himself as a foal, carefree and curious. He hoped he will be able to give her the sort of childhood he had gotten. His parents were very stable and adventurous and he hoped his children will enjoy growing up as much as he and his brother had.

He made his way down to the water, smiling at the foal. He was behind her and moved as quietly as he could until he reached the water and purposely splashed the young filly. "Are you ready to learn something?"

Roxanna was very startled. She squeaked and jumped when her father splashed her. The look on her face wasn't very happy, but only because he had scared her. Typically, she loved it when he played around. It was so much fun!

"Maybe, maybe not. You scared me daddy!!"

She gave him a look. One that only daddy's little girl would ever give her father. But of course she caved, because she was curious as to what her father had in store for her. She smiled and got out of the lake quickly.

"But let's go ahead! What am I learning today?!"

He chuckled softly as she jumped. "My darling I never meant to frighten you." He grinned at her as he gave her a quick nuzzle. "You know I'd never scare you on purpose." He gave her a wink and moved out of the lake after her. "What I propose today is a lesson in a very special talent that you get from your heritage." His tone turned from playful to serious as he explained. "The horn on your head makes you part unicorn, as I am. Unicorns possess the power of healing, which you and I also share to a smaller extent. We aren't as good as a pure unicorn, but we can do plenty of good in the world. Would you like to learn to heal?"

To heal? Roxanna tried to look at her horn, only to make herself cross eyed as she did so. She had wondered what that horn was for, honestly. What was the purpose of such a thing on her head? Roxanna hadn't figured it out yet, and here was her father to rescue her from her curiousity.

"My horn is to heal?"

It was more of Roxanna speaking outloud to herself rather than to her father. She had no idea that she had such a skill. The little filly looked up at her father, trusting and yet a little worried. What if it hurt her? Her father wouldn't do that though...

"Alright dad. Show me!"

Rainbow Swirl laughed as his daughter tried to see her own horn, shaking his head slowly. "Yes, horns are to heal." His eyes danced with laughter as he saw the look of worry on her face. "I ran across a family of hares nearby and one of their little ones has hurt his leg. Come with me and we'll see if we can help him." He turned, gesturing back the way he had come. He started moving, but looked back to make sure Roxanna kept up.

The family of hares wasn't too far off, just as he'd promised. The smaller creatures darted into their hole as the stallion approached, but he called out to them and they returned, the injured one in tow.

It was amazing to see the reactio of the small animals to her father. They were scared of him, which made sense because he was so much bigger... but they came back out when he called. Roxanna looked up at her father, and honestly he was her hero. She wanted nothing more than to be like her dear dad. She kept quiet, having a feeling that even though she was smaller she might frighten the hares with anything sudden. So she kept silent and watched everything her father did so she could learn.
