Race Type, PC (Player character)

Race Name: Troll
Detailed Description: A tall lanky race with triangular torsos and wide shoulders. Trolls are on average 6 feet and 4 inches tall(193cm), with a wide variance of a foot(30cm) or more, they also have wide shoulders with an average height individual typically being between 21 and 26 inches(53-66cm) often on the wider end. Trolls also often have very long arms often being able to touch their knees when standing tall, and hands in proportion to the arms, not the body.
Trolls have an unusual musculature, with almost all of their muscles being rather bulky and apparent, and many places on their bodies being bony and seemingly devoid of muscles. This appearance is mostly due to the nature of troll muscles, as they have two main types, control, and power. Control muscles are small sinewy muscles that mostly wrap around the bones providing refined movement control and maintain balance. Power muscles on the other hand allow for massive strength, with little restraint.
The only places on a troll that do not appear this way are the forearms and head, as these two places have only ordinary and control muscles.
Trolls have much taller heads then most races with wide foreheads, and long chins, though male trolls much more so then female. Trolls also have much larger teeth than most races, often being called tusks or fangs by other races, though all teeth do fit inside the mouth when closed.
Of pigmentation trolls are often in the green to blue range, with some trolls being yellow. In hair trolls are mostly dark mudded and red, with no blond tones to be found. Trolls often have little body hair, with males being almost universally bald.
The genders differences are more apparent in trolls then in almost any other race, and are so extreme as it can be confusing that the two genders are belong to the same race. Female trolls appear more similar to other races, and most similar to Orc females, though thiner, and more graceful then orcs. The bony bulky muscle body, is also muted in females, and appears more subtle, where in the males it is extreme. When it comes to skin tone females are usually much lighter shades, while the males are mudded. Androgyny is rare in the extreme.

History of Origin: [I'm not feeling up to writing this part right now, it has to do with orcs, and being more with magic then orcs, and earth for the main element]

Specialties: Trolls are very strong, but in ways different to most races, such as trolls have very powerful legs, however they are unable to run, they instead lope, and move slowly doing so. When moving rapidly trolls actually make a series of jump, but have little endurance doing so. Also due to this strength it is very hard to stop or block a troll's blow, with even orcs, who are typically seen as stronger, having a hard time with a direct blow from a troll.
With their brutal directional strength trolls are able to unleash powerful attacks, and are able to launch themselves, at high speed.
Trolls are also very dexterous though it may not seem so with their awkward movements, however trolls are able to aim their movements with a great deal of precision. They also possess very nimble fingers due to their precise control muscles.
Trolls also have excellent hearing, on par with elves, above average sight, and a sense of smell superior to other races, allowing them to track by sent.
Trolls are also typically very good at alchemy, though this is often more cultural then natural, however their sense of smell does aid them in alchemy.
Trolls are also among the fast healing races, able to regenerate lost limbs with time. Trolls are also able to put themselves into a coma like state where they are able to quickly regenerate organs, though they are more likely to succumb to their wounds, due to the grievous nature of such wounds that might cause the need to go into this state.
Lastly Trolls have an innate magical ability, not a naturally ability to use magic, but an ability to withstand the negative affects of magical use. Where other races become distorted and can die of overuse of/or abuse of magic and the use of one element, trolls are able to withstand this to a great degree, and are able to become more like an element without great negative effect.

Combat: [I'll expand on this later] Trolls are often using large weapons, to take advantage of their brutal strength, or even more often they will use thrown weapons.

Alignment: [I also plan to expand on this later] Trolls, even in large communities are very tribal, and rough. They hold loyalties to their group and often little else. They can be seen as less then moral when dealing outside of the group they belong.

Climate/Terrain: Trolls are a race who prefer hot, tropical areas, though humidity is not as much of an issue as the heat, so they are also fond of desserts. Of terrain, trolls like what they call, Shattered land, a place with mixed terrain, such as foot hills, or rocky outcrops, they like places where the terrain is not a single thing but a mixed item.

Key Cultural aspects: [I'll post about this later, but for the most part they are a very tribal group, revering ancestors and elders.]

Any Further Information Needed: [I wish I was up to typing more, I kind of like trolls, but I'm not really feeling up to it right now.]

So yea trolls, I was going to wait until I was feeling more like typing, and less like coughing, but I wanted to post something.

Combat: Trolls use large weapons, mostly pole weapons, and bludgeoning weapons. They are also fond of using thrown weapons, mostly javelins, and thrown blades.
Trolls, due to their musculature lack finesse, and though they are able to aim their strikes with great precision, once they start an attack there is nothing they can do to alter its course. Because of this trolls use overly wide singular smashing blows that are difficult or nearly impossible to block.
Trolls also lack an ability to adequately block blows due to their form of movement, though they are very good at parrying blows due to their dexterity, it is easy to overcome the feeble strength they are able to use to parry. Because of this trolls tend to dodge, though with their movement these motions are always exaggerated and way more than needed.
Trolls, despite their reputation as a violent group, only rarely take part in combat, especially among the more civilized groups, as tribal conflicts were the main reason for trolls to fight.
The most common reason for a troll to fight is because they are working as mercenaries, where they are prized for their skill with thrown weapons, and powerful magic. Though military commanders would shutter at the idea of trolls being mixed in with normal troops due to their movements requiring more space then they would be given.

Alignment: Trolls are very tribal by nature, and feel intensely invested in whatever groups they belong, though it is rare for a troll to be a member of multiple groups, even in the case of groups who work closely together. Trolls hold loyalty as the greatest value, and trolls morals are shaped by whatever group they belong to, often being very ridged, and strict. Outside of their group though trolls will seek any advantage they might gain, feeling almost as though people who are not members of their group are their enemies.
Trolls may also be very different when they do, and when they do not belong to a group. Individual trolls who do not belong to a group are often more chaotic, though due to a lack of a "us vs them" attitude, they tend to deal more fairly and openly with others.

Further Information: Trolls, though not among the long lived, or nearly immortal races such as elves, are able to greatly extend their own lifespans through means that would often shorten the lives of others. By way of magical use, Trolls who use magic and become affected by the elements tend to somehow lengthen their lives, so long as they don't exceed their limits.

I'll be posting more on trolls soon, and I feel like I need to clean up the Specialties.

History of Origin: Its widely accepted that trolls are related to Orcs, however their divergence is poorly understood, and appears to have happened over a very short period of time.
Trolls themselves trace their lineage back to a Orc shaman, and a powerful earth elemental. They claim that nearly half of the Orc population followed this shaman in reverence of this earth elemental, and that over time the powers of the elemental and the shamanic rituals transformed their race. The transformation took their bodies to extremes, causing their unique musculature, and their ability to handle elemental magic.
However the elemental's exact identity has been lost, and the old rituals have as well.

OK that was a bit lazy, but I'm not too good at the origin things.

I would, but I'm not going to bother. I'm not good at vague origins. Not at all. That's like an...expository. I don't like expository. Not at all.

You don't have to Neo, I figure that we will be redoing all the origins later as we come up with the history of the world, and likely a lot of other things as well.

Rewriting the alignment along with the cultural aspects, just cleaning it up a bit.

Alignment: Trolls are very loyal to their group, whatever group they do belong to. They also strictly adhere to the laws, or rules of the group taking their morals from the rules of the group. Trolls also find it difficult to belong to multiple groups at the same time, even if the groups are allied and hold the same laws. Outside of their group though trolls will seek any advantage they might gain, feeling almost as though people who are not members of their group are their enemies. However individual Trolls, who do not belong to any group are more of a chaotic bunch, though without their loyalty to a group, and an antagonistic view of others they tend to deal more fairly and openly with others.

Key Cultural aspects: Trolls are group who prize loyalty above all things, they also hold strict laws and view those who break the law in the utmost contempt. Often viewing theft, and murder as equal as the greater crime is just breaking the law, not the actions taken when doing so. However strict the laws are though, they are often very few and simple, with theft not even being a crime in all groups. Though theft is also rare within a group, as resources are often not considered to be owned by individuals, but by the group as a whole. Typical troll thinking is that, to steal something, isn't to take it for yourself, but to take it from its proper place.
Culturally Trolls are very directs, and are often seen as so casual as to be rude by other races. Trolls generally think that the careful etiquette of other races is nothing more than a waste of time. Trolls also value directness and both dislike and lack skill with subtlety.
As a culture, trolls hold Alchemists and Mages in the highest regard, and the study of alchemy as something every troll should attempt. For alchemists, it is that trolls view the ability to manipulate the natural materials of the world to do whatever the alchemist wants as greater then that of building great cities. Viewing the both the amount of materials used being vaster, and the end result being more specific, to trolls that meaning that it takes more skill and knowledge then other subjects. For Mages, it is that Trolls worship the natural forces of the world and view that Mages by using these forces are the closest beings to nature, thus holding a sacred place within Troll beliefs. Though trolls do not hold the same view of mages who use their own life force, or divine magic, only elemental magic.
Trolls greatly revere their ancestors, though they do not worship them. Trolls instead view their ancestors as a base for their lives, and revere them for the knowledge they have passed down and for the difficulties that their ancestors faced so that later generations could live. Along with this trolls revere their elders, as they hold the most experience of which one might actually have access to.
Trolls, though very group oriented hold a very different view on raising children. The Troll system for raising children is for one adult to raise one child, usually the mother, though in the case of multiple children they will go to the father, then to group elders. In the case of twins or other multiple births, all of the children should be raised by one person. Children in troll society are usually not truly seen the same way as other groups see their children, instead they are seen more as the apprentices of their care giver.
Though outside of Troll communities, trolls readily take on the culture of whatever group they belong to.

Lifespan and growth: Trolls are born slightly more developed than other races, though they develop physically and mentally similarly to humans, just slightly ahead of them because of the head start. Trolls can expect to live for up to 300 years before old age will take them, though past the age of 150 their bodies will have be feeble. Trolls who work with elemental magic age much more slowly and never seem to die of old age, nor do their bodies become feeble, though it can be a careful balancing act for Trolls who take such a path, often being killed by their own excessive magic use.

You know something. I really like how much detail you put into races without making them overbearing. I like having simple and discrete origins as people won't have to think too hard while letting their imaginations play. So I think most of your stuff will stay with a few alterations. The most important parts of the races and such will be their cultures, and I like what you've written up for this so we will probably be using it as the basis, and hopefully the rest of the races will be able to use your basis on the culture.

WIth the origins we can say that they diverged, following an orc shaman and his powers because of his worship of an earth elemental or we could say that the ninth god granted several clans such strange forms either from a curs or a wish or something because they either helped or hindered him/her [don't know which yet].
