so I have been battling an outbreak of iritis again, basicly it means one of my eyes hurts like hell and I cant focus on anything close without pain. light hurts and so does pressure and cold air... I am on steroids for it right now but it seems to be getting worse instead of better, odds are good that I am going to wind up with an eye patch for a while.

oh and no, before you ask, I am not gonna be a pirate, hopefully I can get one that looks like a ninja instead ninja

Pirates didn't wear eye patches cuz of a blind eye anyways. They'd keep one eye covered up so they could go below deck and have an eye that is already accustomed to the dark.

That sounds like it sucks. Get a ninja mask that covers everything on your face except your good eye.

kakashi actually has a mask for his nose and mouth and uses his head band to cover his eye but ya, I would like to get something like that. yes you are right about the preserving of dark vision for pirates but most people simply see an eye patch and assume pirate.

I am on the mend now, I have three drops and pills I have to take on a regular basis but I can use the compy again in limited doses so I am doing ok now, still in a lot of pain though.

What are the symptoms just out of curiosity.

its pretty rare and tends to be a side effect of other conditions, Ankelosing Spondalitis in my case, but the symptoms are feeling like someone has taken a hand full of powdered glass and is rubbing it in your eye. you get super photo sensitive (light hurts like you wouldn't believe) your eye goes very blood shot and it hurts to try and focus on anything even with your good eye because the iris of your bad eye is trying to refocus as well.
treatment involves a steroidal eye drop, a dilation drop, a numbing drop to help control the pain, a drop to paralyze the eye and an oral steroid.
can last 6-8 weeks, early detection can lessen that time substantially.

this is my second bout with it and I really hope there isn't going to be a third

its not to bad now, the worst of it is over for me I think and I am on the mend, the eye is still useless for another week or so though since I have to keep it dilated and medicated to make sure it heals properly, at the worst point it felt like I had a gnome ramming needles into my eye while grinding in glass with the other hand... yes very very painful.

So if you work one eye really hard then they both hurt like hell. That must suck worse than a hooker with no teeth.

It is a bad thing! Nothing worse than a toothless hooker.
