Julian Thanatos:
Julian shouldered his way into Demon Hall, a bag slung over one shoulder and arms full of books to the point where he could barely see over them. Actually, he couldn't see over the books, except for when he paused and peeked over them to make sure he wasn't about to run into a wall. It was quiet right then, most of the other demons were probably in their rooms or out partying or something. And the owl-colored Harbinger?
He was coming back from the library and school store with all the books he needed for class and some others for light reading.
Some hair fell into his face and he paused in his careful walking to flick and blow it back to the side. It took him a minute, but he finally managed and started walking again, wings rustling a bit behind him.
Sin Err:
Sin was draped over a chair trying to look casual, but the truth was she was studying. Her eyes trailed over the homework for her classes before she paused and looked up every few moments. She didn't want anyone to catch her too deeply studying. The last thing she wanted was a reputation as a bookworm or study nut. Her eyes suddenly trained on a student ahead, she blinked and quickly shut her own book. Who...what was that? The figure looked rather familiar but it didn't look like a demon, infact she had thought the student was a monster. She stood in one fluid motion and smoothed her dress down before walking over.
"Excuse me? I think you're a little lost, this is the demon hall, the monster hall is in the monsters dorms...that way." She pointed back out the door in the general direction of the monster dorms.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian jumped two feet in the air when a female voice broke the silence around him. Literally. His feet left the floor and several books toppled off his stack. He let out a startled sound and tried to snatch at one of the falling books, which only caused him to drop a lot more, ending up two feet in the air, wings flapping in an agitated manner, and half the books on the floor.
"M-monster? W-why would I w-want to go to the m-monster dorms?" he stuttered at the ghoul before him, slowly settling back down. He carefully landed and thought about starting to pick up his books. But focusing on the demoness was a higher priority. He didn't want to make her mad.
Sin Err:
"Aren't you a monster? A...bird monster?" She motioned to him and crouched down to pick up a book and hand it back to him. "An awfully jumpy one at that, you should be more careful carrying around a stack like that, it could have toppled onto someone and hurt them."
She tossed her hair back as she straightened and looked at him expectantly. Well why wasn't he leaving? Was this somekind of monster initiation joke, he was supposed to sneak into the demon dorms? She crossed her arms and eyed him with a narrowing glare. "Well?"
Julian Thanatos:
"But I, I'm a d- a harbinger d-demon, my room's on the t- top f-floor," Julian replied with wide eyes as he took the book she handed to him. He finally crouched down and gathered up the rest of his books, glancing up at her when he was done. Why in the name of Jack did she think he was a monster? Well, he supposed he kinda looked like one, but so did familiar demons and a lot of those Asian ones. Did she assume that of every demon with animal features?
He gathered the books together in a more difficult to hold position, but one he could see over and stood, giving her a confused, yet still extremely nervous look.
Sin Err:
"Then why are you so nervous? Your tip toeing through here like you don't belong...." She eyed him again warily for a moment before taking up half of his books. "Come on if your telling the truth I'll just help you carry these books to your room. I'm Sin by the way, Sin Err, and you are?" She started to walk ahead of him towards the stairs clearly forcing him to follow unless he wanted to loose his books.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian watched with wide eyes and silence as she took half his books and headed for the stairs. Bugger all, how did he keep ending up in this situation? He was just NOT good with ghouls and yet all he seemed to run into here at school were ghouls. He really should stop being so frightened of upsetting them, otherwise he'd end up having a nervous breakdown, lock himself in his room, and flunk out of school. Which he could absolutely NOT do. He had to live up to his family's hopes, he just had to.
And if that meant dealing with ghouls on a regular basis... He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, opened his eyes again and quickly followed. Then so be it.
He mumbled something under his breath about not being good around others, but he doubted it was really coherent.
"Ah, J-Julian Thanatos. It's a p-pleasure to m-meet you, M-Miss Err," he replied in a more audible tone and with a short dip of his head. It wasn't a very high-up demon family, but they weren't low-class either. They were an old family, fair enough off, and one who prided themselves in their seer abilities.
Sin Err:
"So your a harbinger huh? Well if I trip and fall down the stairs I'm blaming you." She smirked and glanced back at him before continuing along. "Julian Thanatos, I've seen you in some of my other classes..." She nodded and filed his name away, it was good to get to know as many demons as she could. Hmm maybe she could convince this one to vote for her, why not? She was a demon like him, she was likable, she had a lot offer as Vice President. Julian looked smart enough to realize that.
"So...student council elections are coming up, I'm sure you've heard I'm running for Vice President." Ah yes, a casual drop in, he couldn't exactly ignore such a forward statement afterall. Besides he was a fairly captive audience unless he wanted to throw down his books and run out of the dorms.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian blinked some more and almost tripped himself. Usually he flew upstairs, it was a lot easier than walking. His feet... they just weren't really meant for it. Then again, he had no idea how SHE managed with those shoes of hers. If she kicked him, he had the distinct inkling that she would actually end up stabbing him on top of that.
"I don't m-make bad things ha-happen, I just s-see them coming... S-sometimes," he explained and fell back into silence.
And then she spoke again.
About Student Council.
"I, I didn't... D-do you think you'll w-win?" he asked, tilting his head a little to one side. He was utterly clueless about the whole thing, in fact he hadn't intended on voting at all, because he didn't know who any of the runners were. And he would feel really bad if he voted for someone who wouldn't be good at the job.
Sin Err:
"Well then you should tell me if you see something bad coming." She smirked as they reached the top floor and she glanced around. "Your dorms way up here? I didn't even know these were rooms, I just thought it was storage." Sin looked back at the bird boy and slowly a smile spread on her lips.
"Well I can't win without votes, you could vote for me couldn't you Julian?" Then it came to her, the solution to a problem. She remembered with ire the shed she had wanted to get into so desperately and then her gaze fell back on Julian in silent assessment. Yes...yes if she took the harbinger with her every time then maybe he would sense the traps about to happen. He could get her through the shed...without having to rip any of her clothing.
Julian Thanatos:
"Y-yes, of course I would," Julian replied, almost shocked that she would feel the need to... Now that he thought about it, it almost felt like she was ordering him about a bit. But he wouldn't call her on it. If it was one of his brothers, sure, but strangers? No, no he couldn't do that. What if they got mad and tried to fight him? He could not fight, not at all, despite his brother Cyrus' efforts.
Besides, he couldn't fight a ghoul anyways... It was just bad form.
He readjusted his books at the landing and let out a slow sigh. He always felt better when he was high up. It was his natural space, really.
"Yeah, i-it was a p-personal req-quest from my grandfather, that I b-be up as high as they could allow. The height is b-better for b-bird harbingers," he explained, not really sure why it was. They just felt more comfortable up high and when they were comfortable, visions came more easily.
He suddenly looked uncomfortable again as he headed a couple doors down from the landing.
"I-I c-could vote for you, n-not without knowing if you're g-good for the p-position," he murmured, stopping at a door with a large "Do Not Disturb!" sign upon it.
Sin Err:
"Height huh? I guess that makes sense, I tend to do better myself when there's a crowd. I suppose to each their own, you really like your privacy too hmmm?" She glanced at the large sign on the door and let out a little half laugh.
"Of COURSE I'm good for the position! I have goals, I intend to support our elected president, while keeping any over the top ideas in check. I've got the backbone that any council would need to get things done. I'm not afraid to stand up to the teachers and tell them what we need, what YOU need, what YOU want. I want to listen to people, and not just demons, I'm going to give everyone a chance to share their opinions." Of course if she would actually take those opinions into consideration was a whole different matter. She just wasn't going to go around acting all elitist, demons had a bad enough rap as it was.
"I'd love to talk to you more about it...we should go explore the old shed...and talk." All she had to do was convince the little bird to go for a harmless, well sort of, walk near the woods.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian balanced his books with one arm as he fished through his pocket for the key to his room, listening to her talk. Well, at least she was right on one thing, she DID like to talk, and so far she'd at least listened to him. A smile quirked on his face when she mentioned his privacy. That he did. No one was allowed in his room but for himself and his pets. In fact, he wasn't very pleased that she even knew where his room was now. He liked his alone time, the seclusion his room brought, minus his pets of course. And that someone knew where to find him, who might come to see him...
He did not approve.
"Maybe we c-could go expl-" he began as he opened the door, but was cut off when a large Hazmutt bounded out and jumped on him, her front paws planting themselves on his chest when he instinctively shot his arms, and his books, into the air.
"Magenta! Down!" Julian lightly barked out the command, a complete turn-around to how he normally spoke. But Magenta and Radar and Boo were his pets, his family away from home. He wasn't nervous around them.
The Hazmutt set herself down with a tiny whine before rounding her large, glowing purple "eyes" on Sin and making a soft growl sound.
"Magenta, stop," Julian said frowning down at his "dog" before looking back up to Sin. "I'm s-sorry. She d-doesn't like st-strangers."
Sin Err:
Sin was glad that Julian had at least heard her out, that was a good sign after all. "Well look, I'll be campaigning with my own booth soo-" She jerked back and winced as one of Julian's books flew up and clipped the side of her head. Her eyes narrowed on the barking hazmutt for a moment before she rubbed her temple and forced her smile back in place.
"Yes...I see that, cute puppy..." She could hardly judge anyones pets considering the trouble hers often caused.
"Anyway...where was I..." She crouched and picked up a few of his books handing them to him again.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian glared once at Magenta and she sat down, glowering at Sin, though she didn't make another move or sound.
He took the books with a small, apologetic smile.
"She's u-usually m-much sweeter th-than this. I d-don't get v-visitors," he explained again, pausing to sort of rewind his memory to figure out where the succubus had left off.
"S-something about the old sh-shed?" he asked, tilting his head. In truth, he had no idea what she was talking about, but he didn't want to seem rude. Or, at least any more rude than he probably already appeared. Magenta hadn't helped things.
Sin Err:
"Well...maybe you should have friends over...socialize her. Oh yes anyway I was saying, we could go to the old shed you know? It's sort of a fun thing to try and do late at night...you are gonna try it right? Getting past the shed is like somekind of first years major goal." She relaxed a bit now that her head wasn't showing any signs of trauma and the hazmutt had stopped barking. Oh sure it was still glowering at her like she was evil incarnate, as if.
Julian Thanatos:
Julian felt awkward, standing there in the hall with his arms full of books, but he knew if he went into his room he wouldn't be coming back out again. And there was no way she was being invited in. She thought he was a monster before, if she saw his room she might think him some kind of freak or something. Really, it wasn't that bad in HIS opinion, but it was a disaster area by his mother's standards and a fashion nightmare by his brother Michel's. There were so many books and pillows and rugs that didn't match, trinkets he'd found, gifts from his family. Baskets rather than trunks, mostly filled with clothes. Nothing in his room really matched, though not counting the old bookcase, he sort of had a traveling theme going. Low light, no real furniture besides a long, low end-table, and drapes all over with designs he had found interesting.
Cyrus called it ghouly.
Michel had ruffled his hair and said all he needed now was a harem of pretty ladies and he was set.
Julian gave her a small smile and a shrug, inching towards his cracked-open door.
"I d-don't socialize m-much, m-myself," he admitted and inched towards the door again.
"Um, s-sure, I can g-go with you, if you w-want..."
Sin Err:
"Well you should you know, it's important, we aren't just here to study what's in books..." She stopped before she started to sound like her mother. Her mother who constantly preached to her how important it was to socialize, how much friends meant, and how the alliances she created in school would affect the rest of her life. Easy for her parents to say, they had been charming, popular, good looking, a match made in hell. She on the other hand seemed to be having a hard time making just one good ghoul-friend and she was constantly worried about her status within the demon community. It was all a fragile tightrope she had to walk on day after day.
"Great then I'll meet you outside the Shed tomorrow night when the moon rises." She turned away to walk back downstairs realizing just how much the other demon seemed to like his privacy. "Don't be late..." She called over her shoulder and waltzed her way downstairs with her hips swaying.
