The day was overcast, but that didn’t dampen the Pine girl’s mood as she went about the house, instructing the servants to make sure to watch the gate and have tea ready for when Bai Mei arrived. She’d finally managed to organise for him to come to her home for play and lunch. It was even better, since both Ce and his father were out doing ‘manly’ things; leaving just Song Tzue free to do as she pleased. Meilin certainly wouldn’t get in the way of anything the Lotus wanted.
When her patience ran out, Song Tzue slipped out the front gate and climbed up onto the front garden wall. There she sat and waited, as a light drizzling rain started up and covered her hair in fine drops of water. She didn’t mind the refreshing feel of it against her face and she lifted her face to stare at the cloudy sky.
The snow sometimes made her sad; filled her with vague memories of a past life, but the rain was calming. Song Tzue always slept better on rainy nights.

Bei Mei was wrapped up in a thick robe that belonged to his father that covered him from head to toe, kept him warm and kept the items he was carrying with him safe as well. The most important of those being the pack he carried that had his egg in it. The thing had been changing, he could tell by the weight of it that whatever was within it was growing up strong. He was still quite eager to see if either of Jin Feng's guesses over what was in the egg were true. He said that it was likely a dragon that would eat bad people or it was a bird that they would teach to talk. He was hopeful that it was either of those things since it sounded fun while his father was still hopeful that it was just a chicken to get eggs from.
He looked over toward his Father who was walking with him, always wanting to keep his son safe to make sure that he wasn't going to get bothered by the villagers since they were eager to bother him when he was left on his own. So long as he made it safely to where he was invited to play today then Jing Lin would be far happier, "Ahh, would you like that at Bai Mei? It seems your friend is waiting for you."
Bai Mei lifted his yellow eyes to look toward where she was sitting up on the wall and he gave a smile as he looked up at her. There was something that was always so nice about seeing her, it was odd but each time they parted ways a part of him worried that he might not see her again... it was a strange feeling to have since there was really nothing keeping them from meeting up other then a walk between his home and hers. He lifted a hand to wave at the green haired girl in an excited manner, grinning away.

The area that Song Tzue lived was far more lavish than where Bai Mei and his father had come from. This was the wealthy district and the wall around the estate went for quite a wall, the tips of trees and roof barely visible beyond it. Song Tzue had only recently begun to realise that she was lucky to have found such a home; others were not so lucky. There were others whose second life was not the best of circumstances one could hope for; however Song Tzue was a firm believer that if you were strong enough , you could simply make a better life for yourself.
When Bai Mei appeared around the corner with Jing Lin, Song Tzue gave an almost girlish grin. She shuffled forward, signalled to the servant waiting behind her in the garden and then simply leapt from her perch, landing solidly on two feet in a crouched position. Good thing she’d refused to put on a dress this morning. She straightened up, brushed her behind with her hand and then trotted forward to meet the two.
“I’ve been waiting for ages! I missed you.” She called to Bai Mei and once she was close enough nodded at Jing Lin, obviously thanking him for having brought the boy over. The gate behind them had already been opened and she took hold of Bai Mei’s hand to lead him inside. “We’re going to have heaps of fun.”

Jing Lin rested a hand on his son's shoulder, "You behave yourself, I am going to go and pick some things up at the market place. When I am done and everything has been dropped off at home I will come by to pick you up." He told his son, given that what he had to pick up might take a trip or two to accomplish he was sure the two children would have more then enough time to play.
He gave the pair a long look before smiling. He trusted Song Tzue to look after him and since they were in a nicer neighborhood he trusted that it would be alright for him to leave his son here to play. He could only hope that he was right in thinking as much. Bai Mei turned to walk away pausing here and there to turn and look over his shoulder at the boy. He was already to busy with his friend to even realize that he was leaving, something that had him giving a little smile, "Be good." He murmured before he turned and continued on.
The white haired boy stepped in closer to his friend, smiling up at her, "I missed you too!" It felt like an eternity since they had last been able to talk he thought to himself as he reached up so that he could give his friend a hug before he allowed himself to be led forward toward her place, "Yes, I can't wait! And I can't wait to show you something amazing once we are inside where its warm." He told her, almost bouncing in place as he was so excited over getting to play with Song Tzue and wanting to tell her what he'd been up to.

Song Tzue was barely aware of Bai Mei’s father leaving; she was entirely focused on her friend and what he had to tell her. She tilted her head curiously and grinned. “Something amazing? Alright, well let’s get inside quickly so you can show me!” She led him through the gate, which was promptly closed behind them, and down a path framed by beds of flowers.
Soon enough they were in the large house, and out of the drizzling rain. It was warm and cosy inside and Song Tzue let Bai Mei’s hand drop from her own as they continued on to one of the sitting rooms. “Tea please.” She instructed one of the servants as they entered.
Song Tzue brushed water droplets from her hair and turned to Bai Mei .“Okay, it’s warm now. Time for the amazing thing?” She gave him a cheeky grin as she waited, barely able to stand still.

Bai Mei nodded his head rapidly as he followed along after his friend, eager to get inside then. Once he was out of the cold then it would be safe to show her since he didn't want to risk the egg getting chilled for even a moment. It was because he was so protective of it that he carried it with him everywhere, to make sure to keep it as warm as possible and because he was completely certain that just holding it close would let it know that it was loved. He looked around the yard they were walking through and then toward the house, "Wow, this place is beautiful, Song Tzue!" He whispered in excitement and awe, glancing toward the servant that she told to get them some tea before he smiled, "Wow... they will get us tea? How nice." Due to how their family was set up they didn't have anyone like that. He wondered if it would be useful for his Father to have someone like that... but he was pretty certain he'd end up jealous of it. He wanted to be the one to take care of his Father right now. Bai Mei carefully shrugged out of his father's warm robe, folding it up, and then carefully took off his pack from his back and opened it up to let Song Tzue see what was inside, "Isn't if the most beautiful egg you've ever seen?" He asked of her, sounding quite excited as he showed off his most prized possession to his most favorite person.

When Bai Mei called the house beautiful Song Tzue simply shrugged. “I suppose so.” The house that she had grown and lived in since she can come into this world, was in no way special to her. It was certainly comfortable but Song Tzue probably could have gotten along well enough in a smaller household, as long as she had Meilin there. Song Tzue would never admit that her mother was in many ways her ‘rock’; not in words anyway.
Song Tzue moved up close to her friend as he took off his jacket and eventually revealed his prize. Her response was one of delight and wonder as she inspected the pale egg. “Oh wow. It’s... lovely.” Her lips curled up into an amazed sort of smile, hand coming out to touch it. But she stopped short, fingers just inches from Bai Mei’s treasure. “It’s perfect.” She announced.

Bai Mei nodded his head rapidly in agreement, "Yes! It is perfect, your right!" He said happily before looking down at it, "I only wish I had some idea of what might be inside of the egg." He said, leaning over to press his ear to the pretty colored egg for a moment to listen to it, wondering if it might make a sound. Nothing yet but from what he gathered he would start hearing sound from inside the egg when it was getting ready to hatch. He would listen intently to it each day in hopes that he would hear something. Soon perhaps?
"I hope that it will hatch soon, it will give us another friend to play with." He said, smiling up at Song Tzue in a happy manner. She was after all one of his best friends and one of the first that he wanted to meet the creature that was living and growing inside of the egg when it was finally born. While he had no idea what it would be he knew that it would be perfect! He would find it the most wonderful name possible and raise it well just like his Father was raising Bai Mei well.

Song Tzue watched Bai Mei trying to listen to the egg and also pondered what could possibly be inside. “Whatever’s inside it will be beautiful and probably magical.” The girl put her hands on her hips and leaned forward with a grin. “I hope it hatches soon too, and maybe I can even be there when it does! We can play with it and take care of it.” The idea of having a special friend that had hatched from such an amazing egg sounded like something out of the storybooks MeiLin would sometimes read to her.
“Maybe it can even lead us on adventures.” Song Tzue suggested; rather liking the idea of them tromping off the find amazing treasures and fighting thieves. “Did you want some tea now?” She ushered him over, where the maid had just placed down the teapot, cups and a little plate of sweets.

Bai Mei looked up at his friend before he gave her a happy smile, "I think it will be fun!" He said, giving the egg a smile before he stroked his hands over the smooth shell of the egg before he wrapped the blankets around it again to keep it nice and toasty warm before he looked up at Song Tzue once more, "Adventures? Ohhh, that would be neat! I haven't really been on to many adventures aside from once or twice when my Father let me deliver some of the pieces that he made." It didn't happen often but he was always so excited and felt so lucky when it did since he felt as though his Father were trusting him with something super important.
He gave a smile when his friend mentioned the tea and he nodded, "Tea sounds wonderful." He murmured, allowing himself to be ushered over to where the tea was waiting along with the plate of sweets. He set his bag that held the egg down carefully where it would be safe and stay warm before he looked at the tea pot and cups, then to the sweets and starred at them for a long moment, "Did I tell you I am learning to cook Song Tzue?" He asked, not certain if he'd told his friend yet as he had been telling... well anyone who would listen really, those that didn't seem to have believed the silly rumors going around about him and his father at least.
He reached out to pick up one of the sweets before he took a bite, chewed, and swallowed, "I would love to make something for you sometime."

Song Tzue wrinkled her nose at her first, bumping her shoulder against his playfully. “That’s not an adventure. No, we’re going to climb mountains and cross oceans.” The girl was in remarkably good spirits and once she was sure he was settled, she got to work on getting Bai Mei the best cup of tea he was ever going to have.
It seemed that Song Tzue had at least learned something from Meilin on how to be a good host. Plopping herself down on one of the cushions, she set out the two cups and then took a hold of the teapot. She poured Bai Mei’s cup first, a little smile on her face at the curl of steam rising up and the little flecks of leaves swirling around.
“You’re learning to cook?” Song Tzue had always admired the lovely creations brought out by their chef, but the one time she had attempted to storm the kitchen had been a disaster. Song Tzue flicked her gaze towards Bai Mei and then looked back at the tea, moving on to pouring her own cup. “I would love to try your food! I bet it will be delicious.”

"Adventures that take us over mountains and across oceans?" He asked of her, eyes wide, "That would take a lot of planning for." He mused, he was sure they would need a lot of stuff before being able to go out on an adventure like that. They would need food, supplies, money, and a lot of other things he thought to himself, "It would be interesting though, to see things that are outside of this town." Despite liking the sound of it he found himself a touch worried, he wasn't sure why but the idea of leaving town made him feel a little on edge, as though if they went to far something bad would happen.
He quickly shook off the feeling, not wanting to think about something bad happening to the two of them were they to go on an adventure together. Things would be alright, even if he was a bit soft he knew that Song Tzue was quite tough. After all she had chased off that boy who was being mean to Yoru after all. His attention was drawn from his thoughts and over to his greenette friend before he gave her a smile, "I would love to make you something, some time. Maybe next time I visit I will bring something? Or if you come to my place I can cook for you there?" He gave the two options to her, allowing her to pick before he turned to look at the cup in front of him. He picked it up in his hands, breathing in the scent of it deeply before giving a smile, "Smells good." He said before taking a sip from it.

”Would it?” Song Tzue hadn’t even considered the logistics involved with her idea of an adventure. To her it had seemed simple. They simply took off into the horizon and dealt with all that along the way. You didn’t plan you just... went. “Yeah. To see what’s beyond here.” Perhaps if she ever did decide to leave; then it would suddenly become far scarier. But right now she was bold and strong and her head was filled with ideas.
“I’ve heard of a place called India and uh... what was it, Sri Lanka... they’re supposed to have really good tea there. I’d love to taste it all.” She wrapped her slim fingers around her own cup, enjoying the feel of the hot porcelain warming her hands. “I’ll come over to your place.” Song Tzue decided almost instantly. “I want to see your house.” She watched him as he took a sip, waiting to see his reaction.

"I've never really gone to far, a little bit of a walk in the forest with my father but that is about it." He told her, his entire world was within the walls of the village, it seemed more then big enough for Bai Mei who spent a great amount of his time within his own property tending to things that needed done since his father often lost himself in his work. If he did go on an extended adventure with Song Tzue he found himself wondering if his father would be alright, the man really didn't take the best care of himself... and on top of that he often lost himself in his work so deeply that he would forget to eat, rest, and even bathe.
He wanted to go on the adventures, he did, but he wondered if perhaps he should decide against them and tend to his father instead. He supposed as time passed he would find out. He drew in a deep breath, once more taking in the scent of the tea deeply allowing its fragrance to calm his racing thoughts. He shouldn't think so hard or so far away, after all he had no idea what was going to happen tomorrow let alone what would happen when he was old enough to travel on his own. The future would come when it was ready to come and not a day before.
Looking up at the green haired girl he gave a bit of a smile, "I look forward to having you, I am sure my father would like it too." He would just need to make sure that Jing Lin had gotten enough rest the day before her visit to be able to join them for a meal. Bai Mei knew he might have to take away the jade as well else the man spend all his time sculpting instead of doing what needed to be done... he shook his head to clear those thoughts, "My father is often busy but I will make sure he takes the day off when you visit." He told his friend, giving her a happy smile before taking another sip of his tea, enjoying how it warmed him up nicely inside.

That was also true for Song Tzue. She had only ever stood at the edge of the village and wondered what was out there, before duty to her mother had pulled her back. The Zhu family was not one for the idea of travel. Except perhaps for MeiLin's father, who went back and forth between villages in order to make new and better trading contacts. But he thought the women should stay at home and do womanly things. Song Tzue was never going to live up to that idea of the world. One day she would see the world. This place couldn't hold her forever.
She lifted the cup of tea to her nose, enjoying the scent before taking a sip. "Hm? Would he?" Song Tzue asked with a hint of a smile when Bai Mei told her his father would be glad of her coming to visit. She'd always seen him as a sort of rival and Bai Mei's temporary carer until she was strong enough to do the job herself. "He doesn't have to take the day off just because I'm coming over." She said with a shrug, though the idea did make her feel sort of special.
